My rezound is currently stuck in fastboot recovery screen. Whether i reset or power down it just returns to the fastboot menu. I got the phone stock gb and tried updating to team bamf ics. It installed but realized it was crashing and went back to try to fix it following the team bamf old firmware update. I got to step 9 on the installation process part 1 but since i flashed the team bamf rom the android leak i was supposed to update to before flashing team bamf rom won't work because my phone is no longer fully stock. How do i fix everything and get back to team bamf rom? Thanks in advance.
Forgot to mention my device is S-ON.
Try to reinstall your recovery and then try to install the ROM again.

i will try that as soon as i reformat my pc... it suddenly crashed... -_-' and i'm waiting on a windows 7 dvd. will update as soon as i can
so i had to unlock the bootloader again before putting the recovery but when i unlocked the bootloader the phone went off. now the charging light just keeps flashing and the phone wont show anything on the screen
never mind this phone felt like toying with me
ok it worked i'm back on Team BAMF rom. but every time i try dialing a number on the dialer it crashes
Does the phone app crash or does your phone reboot? Also, does it do the same when you try messing with settings?
i got it to work by installing the old firmware patch file i found. now to get data working.

It might be best to do a completely fresh install.
Extract the boot.img file from your P98IMG zip and drop it into your ADB directory. Go into recovery, wipe data/cache/dalvik, install ROM and firmware patch. Then reboot into bootloader, go into ADB and type in fastboot flash boot boot.img then reboot your phone. Let it sit for about 5 minutes after the first boot and everything should work just fine. :highfive:

You need to flash that kernel when you install the rom.
I am going to try this right now, I hope this works, I've been trying for 2 days now going from stock to different ICS ROMS without being able to get past the HTC screen on a ROM
Before you do that you might try flashing the kernel out of the rom zip with Flash img gui, tell it to reboot to recovery and then flash the rom. The only reason I recommend this is that chads kernel will break 3d and mount sd via usb.
So I'm having the exact same symptoms as OP but I'm S-OFF and GSM, I don't know if there is something like the fix you posted birddog_61 that could help me in my case.
Unfortunately this did not work for me, I did a superwipe, flashed the ROM, and then flashed the kernel, then rebooted and still cannot get past the damn HTC screen, any other advice?

Curious question but have you tried any of the Sense 4.0 ROMs cause those work for me but whenever I install a 3.6 ROM(atleast the ones based on the leak) my phone reboots every 10 seconds, It's just a little odd that for such a rare problem, it'd be someone with such a different configuration that I have.

Well I'm on GSM so we don't have the exact same ROMs but I used Shooter Ice, in my case flashing the boot.img for Shooter Ice over Virtuous 3.0.2(a ROM based on the leak) actually fixed the bootloop though the system was too unstable to use. But try something not based on the leak since that did work for me(though none of those ROMs are fully functional).

Ok try this, go back to a rom that will boot for you. Boot up and download Flash Image Gui. Now make sure the rom zip file is on your sd card. Open flash image gui and grant it super user permission, make sure kernel image is selected and also clear dalvik and clear cache are checked. Click on the browse button at the top and find the rom zip file on your sd card and tell the prompt yes to extract the kernel. Now it will flash the kernel and ask you to reboot, tell it to reboot to bootloader. From there get into recovery and flash your rom like normal.

Didn't work for me(not that I really thought it would but I'm pretty desperate at this point), if he's having the same issue I am(atleast the OP had the same bootloop I do), I know in my case it's the boot.img not getting along with something, what that something is I'm still trying to figure out though.
Last night I was able to unlock my bootloader on my rezound. And I installed Amon Ra recovery. I did a nand backup before I made any other choices from there. But I don't know if I was perm rooted. But I installed su and busybox. well I went ahead and installed Rom Manager just to start out with instead of using amon recovery.
Through rom manager I had to flash clockwork mod. did that. so I thought i was ready to go with flashing a ROM. well I downloaded a ROM through my phone. but it wasn't on my sd card. so i pulled the notifications down on my phone and just clicked the downloaded ROM and it said what would you like to do with it? I clicked the rom manager option. cleared dalvik and cache n all. Everything said installed successfully. well it just stayed on the htc screen FOREVER. so i pulled battery and tried to recover my backup. well now that i have clockwork as recovery. my backup isn't on my phone. I can't even use clockwork now. I can't get my phone to boot at all. I don't think my phone is bricked cuz I can get into the bootloader menu. But i can't get my phone to boot back up at all whatsoever
So I was either not rooted like I thought I was or something. I can't even factory reset through bootloader. it just takes me back to clockwork mod and everytime i click an option through cwm it goes blank. every single option. I need my amon recovery back somehow so i can restore my backup....please somebody help me out. I hope its not bricked. Thanks

Your firmware is probably still GB, Newt's is for ICS. There is a patch allows you to use his ROM on a GB firmware base. So, over on MikMIk possibly, is this patch you need. Flash it in recovery, just like you would a ROM.
Here found a helpful link, look at PRDOG's post. He rocks... Depending on which release of Newt's ROM you are on, he also has a RLS 3.2.1 which is also a patch. Sorry it is a little confusing. But stick with it. Lots of people to help you. You don't need to flash the 3.2.1 patch, just the GB one.

So in order to flash a PH98IMG.zip what do I have to do? do i have to go into the command prompt and go from there?
I'm a complete noob, and I probably should have done more research before doing this - Sorry for annoying post if this has occurred already, I couldn't find a post with a solution.
What I did:
Installed adb tools, unlocked bootloader, then rooted it. Then I tried installing cm10.1 following this guy's method(I don't have s-off) :
wwjoshdew - How To Install CyanogenMod 10.1 Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean on the HTC Evo 4g LTE (Sorry, since I'm a noob, i can't post external links)
Everything seemed as if it was going according to plan but when I got to lock screen on first boot, I couldn't touch anything on the screen. Only volume control and power buttons on the outside functioned.
Also, I'm on twrp v2.4.1.0 and I flashed the rom using a app called flash gui on the phone. I made a backup as well, but after restore to backup, the phone just keeps restarting incessantly.
Can anyone help me, explaining in depth what I can do? I'm a complete noob, and I'm sorry if this post is annoying! I've seen that noob video.
Flash gui is only for flashing the kernel, the rom still needs to be flashed separately. If you're running the latest firmware update then you can't use roms that require older binaries (basically all aosp). Either wait for the source to drop, flash an updated sense rom, or go to the mean bean thread and look for the instructions for downgrading the touch panel update.

You can download the lastest meanbean v3.06 rom, or any rom that is 3.16 software based. Usually it says it right by the name of the rom on the header. Place the rom zip on your sd card. I usually put all my files in the downloads folder. Then boot into recovery and do a factory reset, then wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, and wipe system. Then go to install and flash the meanbean rom you have in your downloads folder. Then reboot. You should be good to go. Since your S-on try staying with roms that contain the s-on installer. Most 3.16 based roms have the S-ON installer but in the event that one does not you will have to flashboot the boot.img of the rom prior to flashing the rom through recovery. Note: You can only run roms that are based on the latest 3.16 software.

Check out this thread. I believe you can flash the rom through fastboot. I have not done this though. So proceed with caution. Remember it has to be 3.16 based.

ROM Flashing
Obtain a ROM of your choice, and note the location on your computer.
reboot your device into fastboot mode via one of the following options.
adb reboot bootloader (requires USB debugging to be turned on).
power off the device then back on with 'vol up' + power button.
Wipe your device.
fastboot -w
Update your ROM.
fastboot update </path/to/your/RomFile.zip>
Your phone will update and automatically reboot into the new ROM.

Follow the steps that Milo put above and hopefully it works. Whenever I screwed mine up and wouldn't recover, I would run the 3.15ruu to put it back to stock.. However if you are on 3.16 I don't believe there is an ruu for it yet, I know captain throwback had something in works though, search for him and check his threads as a last ditch effort.. Best of luck.

I'm actually on meanbean latest version.
I couldn't do anything else except this
What I did:
- Put the micro sd card in pc
- copied meanbean rom to sd
- put sd card back in phone
- put phone into fastboot
-on pc, I extracted the boot.img from meanbean rom and placed it into android-sdk folder,
- simultaneously pressed shift and right clicked in folder to open command prompt
- in command prompt, type fast boot devices
- then fastboot flash boot boot.img
- on phone, put phone into recovery(twrp) then I installed the rom.
then the phone booted as normal. I'm working to see if I can install the cm10.1 on meanbean, I'm gonna test it to see what happens. I hoped I was able to help.

That's cool, so you flashed the boot.img first after you extracted it and then you went right into Twr precovery and just flashed the rom zip file. And I agree, I don't know if the cm10.1 is for 3.16 or not, and if you flash a kernel and is not right, you're toast, that's why I'm hesitant to flash the cm10.1 zip....

Hey Everyone! So here's the quick nitty gritty...
Flashed Clean Rom Standard and Left S-On
Worked great for about 8 months
Started crashing like crazy and the only fix was to go back to stock
Went to stock and then unlocked, S is still On
Flashed ClockworkMod 6.0.2.3
Can't get any aftermarket S-On Roms to work
It can never see a PH98IMG.zip file via fastboot/bootloader
So I'm stuck and I don't know what to do
Anyway, that's where I'm at. Right now the phone is working just fine but stock roms suck and it's FULL of bloatware that I can't get rid of. So...any ideas on what I can do? I'd love to use Clean Rom once again but I can't get the PH98 file to flash

The newer roms are mostly made for S-OFF and do not create a ph98img file to flash with the boot.img you have to manually do it.
You should be able to flash by extracting the boot.img from the rom you want to flash, place it in your fast boot folder on your PC,
Open command prompt in that folder, and type fastboot flash boot boot.img
Hope this helps

I'll chime in, but would say that getting acquainted with how ADB works from the PC would be of great help to you. I don't like it either, which is why I s-offed. It does occur to me though that, at the very least, you are rooted, so Titanium Backup will help you freeze and/or uninstall bloat. I just had to RUU because I borked my internal storage and I am running stock, without all of Big Reds crap, and I'm actually enjoying it for a few days...
Good Luck from the mid west!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I don't see a way around your problem if you're unwilling to learn how to do things with fastboot or adb or (possibly) both. They're easy to figure out for basic operations, so just do it! (Hey, you're flashing custom ROMs, ya gotta give a little too! )
Good luck,

There is one way to acquire temp "s-off" meaning you can flash ROMs in recovery and the boot image flash with it. It does do heavy work on your boot partition though. TWRP HTCdumlock there is instructions in flyhalf's TWRP thread to do this method
Sent from my Infected Rezound using xda app-developers app
Don't use CWM plain and simple. Switch over to TWRP. Only con, rebooting to bootloader manually. Also make sure you do a system/data/cache wipe prior to switching roms.
There is always the all in one tool that you can flash the kernel from but you still need to extract the boot img from the rom
Well i used to have a hox+ with Android Revolution custom rom and a custom kernel. I tried to power it up but it stucks at htc logo, then reboots and goes straight to twrp recovery. I tried to flash again the rom via adb but i can't see my device in cmd. I found and dowloaed htc drivers my htc, plus adk and htc sync manager but still no luck..any ideas what is going on here?
do a full system reset in cwm recovery
now install the rom
reboot into fastboot
fastboot flash boot boot.img for the rom

Somewhat similar situation. I previously rooted my HTC One X+ (Intl) with Viper X+ rom. I thought I would experiment with it as it is no longer my daily phone, and since I liked the Cyanogen experience on OnePlus One, thought i would try to install it on the HOX+.
I followed these official (?) instructions http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_enrc2b#Installing_recovery_using_fastboot, however, after getting CWM recovery on and then flashing via sideload command the ROM, I am now stuck in the CM bootloop animation and computer no longer recognises the device, and can't find anyway to get back to bootloader, recovery etc.
I did read about bootloop issues after this and some people said that the boot.imhg file should have been flashed separately (thanks CM for not including that instruction!), and somehow my computer recognised it one more time after the bootlooping started and I managed to get into fastboot to flash boot.img, but, then rebooted and bootloop again. Since then I have had no way to get back into recovery or bootloader, so it just runs until battery dies.
Should it go into the bin? Or anything else I should try?
Thanks so much for any
EDIT: Solved...I was able to get recovery back, then did full reset and followed instructions above re boot.img flash and now am back into my phone with a new lease on life and CM ROM!!
Two more noob questions if I may, now that I have my HOX+ back...
I am now running CM 10.2.1-enrc2b.
I have 3 updates available and being offered to me (upgrade to CM11 from CM10):
- cm-11-20140308-SNAPSHOT-M4
- cm-11-20140916-SNAPSHOT-M10
- cm-11-20140916-SNAPSHOT-M12
1. I downloaded and installed the latest M12, but upon rebooting it went into a bootloop for 15mins+. I then followed your instructions again to get back. So, it seems I at least need to install them in order starting from the earliest (ie M4), but before doing so I wanted to check if anyone knows if these are even compatible with my HOX+ (Intl)?
2. Which would be the best place to get the right gapps package and installation instructions (if CM can get it wrong, am now wary of someone else leaving out the critical boot.img flash step eg)?
Thanks!

EDIT: Nothing like some self-help. I am good now.

to get into bootloader, hold down the vol down and power, the home lights will flash (atleast they do when its booting), it will reboot, when you get the htc logo, let go of power button. and now try a stable er version of the rom.

ok, dont do an ota update in cm, you need s-off, which you cant get on the hox+
flash the rom, flash the boot image, boot, reboot into recovery, SIDELOAD gapps and that should work. use cm10 for the moment, as cm11 has an annoying system ui crash loop bug.
Thanks again for your clear and helpful pointers that got me out of a mess, I seem to have figured it out, downloaded the latest CM11 update and extracted boot.img for separate flashing and it all worked, then added gapps and seems working good now (except for dead touch zone from kids dropping it too many times probably!). The OTAs clearly don't work as is and CM probably should update their instructions and how they push major updates that need a new boot.img. Now to work out what to do with my spare phone...!
