These are the biggest battery users.
Also we can't help, if we don't know what you use your phone for. If you are gaming a lot, then of course, it won't last long. Share your Battery Usage screen and also, if you have root, then BetterBatteryStats info page of Partial Wakelocks, Alarms and Processes.

i put my lww every night on charger, i have about 2-3 hours on wifi a day and rest is on 3g+ calls and sms

Yup, agree with Someguy.. use BetterBatteryStats and figure out what's been running. Then get Startup Auditor to stop it from self starting or a Root app remover and disable it..

ok first repair via PCC then install apps one by one checking the performance untill you find the app that is draining you battery
also it can be that only with the repair the problem is resolved

Yeah, that may be, but the thing with smartphones (not just android) a multitude of things can run in the background without you knowing. If something prevents the CPU from going into sleep mode all the time, your battery life is gonna suffer.
Check that first. Odds are it's something you installed. In which case, sure, a factory reset can fix the problem but it'll come back once you install that app again.. Get the point?

Don't use taskkillers at all.
Task killer kills the apps and if these start automatically again, it uses more power.
It is better to leave the app running than closing it and then it starting itself again. Android kills some apps or places them to cache if RAM is needed. Android doesn't work the same like Windows.

on those screenshots you have running
facebook sync--> put 1 hour sync
google talk --> shutdown
screen timeout--> 15 sec, and reduce brightnes to half
network--> try switch to 2g
battery try to calibrate, when phone shutsdown put on charger, when is full go to cwm and wipe battery stats and again discharge battery do this 2-3 times, if isn't better take your phone to service if you stil have waranty, waranty on battery is 6 months, i hope this help

Is completely normal with smartphones. The batteries do not last very long on smartphones.

ICS uses a lot of phone's CPU which results in more battery usage. You can do nothing but wait until SONY does something about it in next update!

I can't post something like this, because my phone is charging as soon as I spot an outlet (not more than 4 hours without charging).
but in the train I can get 30% off the battery in 3 hours with screen on constantly. Backlight: 10% (with widgetsoid), WiFi on and connected. UberMusic running, and browsing with Opera Mobile or RageReader.

Set brightness slider to near about 20% in settings
Now goto homescreen and put the brightness widget there...now click on it twice/thrice such that screen first lit up and then again dim
Now whenever sensor notices brigt light, it will set the max display to the place where you set the slider

What's going on with my battery?

Hey guys
So last night my phone was at around 90% battery before I put it to sleep for the night. I have a habit of hitting ATK every time I turn the phone off, so that's exactly what I did.
No wifi, bluetooth, GPS were on.
I wake up this morning to the phone being completely dead...I start it up and it has 1% battery left.

Also, is "Wifi Sharing" aka tethering? This is weird because I have never even configured this feature, let alone turn it on and do not want it on for risk of being charged!
Thanks,
Elliott
What firmware version? (settings > about phone, post android version, Kernel version and build number)
As in the older versions the Wi-Fi sharing feature has a habit of sucking battery.
Also you shouldn't use ATK's, they do more harm than good on modern high memory devices.
As @veyka says, avoid using ATK, download BetterBatteryStats and look for any wakelocks that are keeping the phone awake during the night.
Thanks guys I'll stop using it.
It's 2.3.3
Kernel version:
2.6.35.7-I9100MUGKG2-CL371789
[email protected] #2
Build number:
GINGERBREAD.UGKG2
There hasn't been any updates for my phone yet...(Bell) and I don't plan on putting a different ROM on my phone.
Is there another app like BetterBatteryStats? I don't really buy apps.
veyka: why would Wifi sharing even be on on my phone? I have never used it and I seriously hope it's not on because I don't want to get charged for tethering :s

See the link in my sig for BBS, theres an XDA edition.
No its not on, its just running in the background draining battery (Bug in the program in older 2.3.3 roms). Or at least it looks like it is. Its a part of the rom, it comes on all SGS2 phones as standard, you shouldn't be being charged.
The only way to freeze/stop the app is to root, and if you want todo that or not is upto you. But use BBS to check first.
Thanks I will use it tonight to see. Are there any special settings I need to set to get it to read what's causing the drain?
This is the first time this has happened so obviously something must have changed which caused a major battery drain.

Sometimes the fuel gauge chip gets confused after doing something that uses a lot of juice between reboots, like flashing zips (After all battery status is just an estimate), it will correct itself over time, this on the otherhand is drain due to buggy app.
Okay guys here it is:
http://pastebin.com/HU3bys2j
I'm not sure this will be much help to me, though...because battery usage was back to normal today...~70% battery life after sitting the whole night...kind of **** but it is what it is.
First of all update your ROM, you're still using 2.3.3, in some 2.3.3 ROM's Wifi sharing bug was present, update it to 2.3.6, Wifi sharing bug will be gone for sure.
Now about your Wakelocks there is not much there other than some Chat service, in Kernel Wakelocks there is dormancy present, so disable it, disabling Fast Dormancy helped a lot of people, it should help you too.
Swyping from my GT-I9100 via Tt
Thanks.
I'd rather wait for an OTA update or an official update to update my phone...
I also read somewhere that turning fast dormancy off can potentially use more data when using the internet, etc. Is that a load of baloney or not?

You may be waiting a LONG time... There is no harm and very little risk using a firmware from Intratech's Official i9100 Firmwares thread. I believe the firmwares in post #2 are from Samsung, and as far as I know the only modification Intratech does is replace the bootloader with one that can be reset using a USB jig.
I also read somewhere that turning fast dormancy off can potentially use more data when using the internet, etc. Is that a load of baloney or not?

From what I understand, fast dormancy causes the connection to drop from HSPA/HSPA+ to 3G if you have NOT been using something to keep an active flow of data under a very small amount of time. So in other words, if you're not loading a web page, or streaming music, and data is generally not flowing to your phone, it will drop the connection to 3G in a few seconds. With fast dormancy turned OFF, it will stay with an HSPA/HSPA+ connection for longer.
There are pros and cons to both sides. You might save a little bit of battery with fast dormancy turned on, but I've found it slows down your online experience, as it takes a few seconds for it to negotiate from 3G back to HSPA/HSPA+.
Hope that makes sense.

Kies sucks. You have to wait for Samsung to update their databases to say your phone in your region has an upgrade (I got tired of waiting after 6 months of being on 2.3.3), and they dictate what version you upgrade to; not always to the latest version.
Check out Intratech's thread I linked above. There are instructions in post 1, official firmwares from Samsung in post 2.
I see.
But how do I know which firmware to download? It's all so confusing...
factory reset and monitor apps installed-simplest way to see what's wrong. If that doesn't help, its gotta be your battery. Also, kill wifi sharing if you're rooted.
Hi
Had a similar prob w/batt drain till rooted and install app called autostarts which basically disabled unnecessary apps from restarting.
Hope that helps.

Well there is an update for the rom and kernel i think maybe once you update it it will improve the battery life.
Or you can try another kernel i personally use rage kernel and undervolt it so i get o good battery life. In my personal experience the interactivex governor it's the best one for bat life and so overclocking it's not exactly good for it so maybe you can restore to 1 ghz and install the v6 superscript.
But yeah the overall battery life of our phones is not great.

Other regions is .62.
My idea: Check Settings-About the Phone-Battery Use
What uses the battery most there? Does any of the apps sync data all the time? Bluetooth/GPS turned on?

okay but which kinda of apps do yhu know gat auto-sync?
You can install cpu spy and let the phone overnight. Then check if your phone is entering into deep sleep.
Another thing that waste a lot of energy is checking the battery haha. The first day with my phone was like that, I was checking my phone battery percentage every time.
You can also try Easy Battery Saver to disable the Data every 15 minutes when the screen is off.
Another thing to remember is that our phone only have 1200 battery with a 1 Ghz phone, so our battery is very low for the hardware.
My phone last with moderate use with HSDPA always on like 14-16 hours.

But yeah the overall battery life of our phones is not great.

How to undervolt on Rage Kernel, pls? I used OC/UV beat2 app (but nothing different) and CPU Control app (but says "the kernel don't support UV"). Thanks.

Ok, so... I have both installed, noob on the post: where I can find setting to manage UV?, I found some governor called powersave bias on setCpu, is this?
Nice apps, full of functions, and nice functions. I will play with this, but still miss UV.
Thanks!

Poor Battery life "ICS"

After updating ICS i root it straight forward, and experience the poor battery life, I waited 3 weeks and calibrated many times, and turn off all the unnecessary services as suggested in the different forums but result is same, before ICS, i was happy with 3 days battery life, but Now, it just keep the juice for 1 day that sux!
Notice, Android system is taking all the juice and its keep "Awake" why not in sleeping mode ? when not in use.

for me i use my mobile in ordinary mode for 2 1/2 days... 1 day if i use continue wifi
I recomend you to use this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521309,because default ICS kernel suck. I'm using I-Scream build 10 (which is a lite version of Nordic .562 FW) with this kernel, and battery drain is about 2% in 4 hours. Also, you should make different profiles (with setcpu),for example when screen is off set profile to 122-460 mhz, conservative mode.

Can we use that kernel on official ICS and locked bl and is there any fc, problem with wifi or bug?
Sent from my Neo V with supercharged ICS ^^
yes,it works with official ics. If you don't have wi-fi issues, flash it dirrectly, but if you have wi-fi issues install first this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1609617,don't boot after install, and then flash Inteks kernel (without booting between installs). I'm using it on MT15i,and i don't have any lag or wi-fi issue. I don't know if it works with locked bl,because i have unlocked bootloader.
I think after update (wipe) phone is collecting info about battery and some other stuff, that's why your phone is awake all the time or maybe some app drains your battery?
Take a look at my stats.

I should tweak a little more, and will inform later ...
@georgeiulian89: why you posting him custom kernel? this is not problem in kernel.

Nothing to tweak. Besides, what did you tweak so far?
Stock ICS shouldn't drain so much. Do a clean flash again.
Android OS should report higher usage than in GB, but not that high. Do a reflash.

Stock, clean ICS doesn't drain so much.
If it does, ether some modifications are made, or something is messed up while flashing.
Op. You said you've disabled some services and calibrated many times have you thought of just letting it settle.
Flash again, rather than trying to undo everything that you've done. This time give it a couple of days to calm down then investigate if needs be.

Tweak = disabling unnecessary services, ie Location, autosync etc,
I think Flash will be my last option.

Problem Solved
I follow the guide from [Solution] [ICS] Solve battery drain issue on 4.1.A.0.562 [05/07], seems like the baseband 70 was sucking all the juice, after downgrading to Baseband 64 the magic is back
Check out
woow, nice mobile network signal. I have bad signal but on BB70 phone works 3 days.
Stock kernel from Sony is good enough to,
you have a charger right peeps?
our phone is not a car, like when you start him and automatic recharge

Battery drain on neo v

Hi guys. Just noticed that I have battery drain. My battery life is about 6 hours. I have stock ics rom ( 4.1.B.0.431 ). I've disabled wifi, 3G, set brightness to 35% but have same problem.
Since you are on stock ICS, I suppose your baseband version is
.72 . Try flashing a lower baseband. Check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1640641
You can also turn off the bravia engine! Saves some for me! Or juz see which apps eat most of the battery and find a solution for them! Also do u use any task killer? ( battery Dr. Is the best! Its widget is a great task killer!)

what you do on your phone then ??

BB would not be the problem, check whats consuming battery using 'Better Battery Stats" either here or on Play Store
and to be honest, stay away from crap like task killers
PS : i used Juice Defender Ultimate when i used stock, nothing since custom ROMs
Another way
I use turn off keypad light to save energy too
to do this , first you must root your device and install Root Explorer , then go this address :
/sys/class/leds/button-backlight and change the file brightness to the value 1.
Than change the file max_current to 1, too. Go to /system/etc and than hw_config.sh and change max_current to 1. Reboot & Finished :good:
Well guys... I don't know what to do After few days good battery life it started again discharge very fast. Also I was surprised when I turned off my phone with 25% battery and after 1 hour my phone didn't turned on! Again this fu*king battery drain Maybe the reason is in battery ? But I'm not only one who has same problem...: S I'll do a factory reset and if it won't work... bye bye sony.

For stock, non root - your only options are the likes of Juice Defender.
At least root your phone & get rid of the bloatware. You will realize the difference.

disabling the facebook account on my Neo v did the trick for me. Now the battery lasts more than a day under normal usage. You can try that
Here it is, as you can see 70% in 5 hours.
