Hi all, I am checking for Tun.ko module for SGSIII (to enable openvpn), but could not be sure if there's one. There's an installer on the market (cannot provide links as I am new), but I am not so sure if to check it, any ideas?
Cheers!

That one? Root is required, but I'm currently using that paired with my openvpn server/router.
I'm using that, too. Everything is working fine

Maybe I am wrong but I thought I read somewhere that ICS would have a native Cisco IPSEC VPN built in to settings? Can anyone help on this or is it still not available?

Thanks, I read these when I googled them. Not what I'm looking for, thank you for the reply
Hello,
Although you no longer need tun.ko since that feature is now compiled into the kernel distributed by Asus, you may still need to root your device and load some additional kernel modules to have any chance of getting IPSec to work. I have had much better luck using the native PPTP to connect to my old Cisco PIX 501 (no root required), or Cisco's AnyConnect client to connect to my newer ASA 5510 (root on the Android device and an AnyConnect Mobile license on the ASA required).
Since you've already done some Googling, you may have already seen these threads:
ICS supports Cisco IPSec VPN with groupid/pwd, new kernel doesn't: tun.ko attached
Kernel modules for VPN support (tun.ko + others)
Kernel Module Pack V4
Hi
Does your ad blocker work correctly? I try a few weeks already to understand how can be that AdChoices ads are coming through Adaway and Adfree.
I have a SGS as a phone and there's no ads with same setup.
Can someone explain - is it some strange HoneyComb issue or am I missing something? IMO I can manage pretty well my android problems until this...
If questions arise then:
- yes SU access granted;
- hosts file is generated by Adaway and is identical compared to my SGS hosts;
Tab setup:
Stock XXKL4 with Pershoot's kernel
Thanks in advance
What ICS roms meet the following conditions?
confirmed working vpn support with tun.ko compiled & built in so that vpnc, openvpn and the like will work.
Working encryption.
I've tried the stock Samsung ROM with Chainfire's rooted kernel, as well as Spike's Pure 7.1 & Resurrection Remix 1.0. The encryption works on all three but the VPN doesn't.
I've already tried HellcatDroid's full device encryption app but I ran into two problems. Battery life (I blame GB, not HellCarDroid's app) and it would periodically tell me it had received a decrypt command from the exchange server. I've talked with the SysAdmin & he's assured me that that's not coming from the server, but that's what was happening.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer to part 1 of my question is on the Tun.ko Installer page.

Hi all,*
i have a rooted Xperia Tablet S with kernel 2.6.39.4 and firmware version 4.0.3 6b.*I want to mount my Samba shares on the tablet with Cifsmanager. For that I need a cifs.ko module. My search on the Internet so far wasn't successful.
I found a module at this forum for the Tablet S but it doesn't work with xperia tablet S (Tablet crashes everytime).*
Does anyone have a functional module or can someone tell me how I can compile the module?

Hey, any progress on your question? I recently got the Xperia Tablet Z and the cifs.ko module is not included either. I need to mount a SMB share but found no solution so far
Bump.
I have a rather large music collection on my NAS. It would be nice to access it directly as a mounted share from my Xperia ZL..
Hello to all
Have you tried the GPS dongle functionability with this ROM?
I just bought it and downloaded the GPS status APK and get no SATS
Also found that BT is not working.
Anyone with similar issues?
Thanks!

KatKiss 5.0 is rom for TF300 but it's optimized to work on TF201. That's why it doesn't have GPS dongle support. Sorry but if you want GPS dongle support, you should use Hairybean 2.31 (It works like a charm with f2fs)

Thanks for the info... it will not work even if i use the K.A.T - Kat Android Toolbox
You need the modules in the kernel for it to work.. As yet no one has done that..
Its a bit like using a USB internet adaptor.. The modules have to be put into the right place so when it is plugged in it the machine knows it is there and has the necessary instructions to run with it..
As stated at the moment these are not in the kernel..
If you knew what modules where needed you could have them on your tablet and use a boot script to load them on start up..this could in theory work as well..
The best I could do is find an old thread that we used for the TF101 on the USB Ethernet pluggins and this will give you an idea of what is needed and the commands to use for the script.. As it seems that the hairybeen kernels had these modules..if you knew what to look for you could pull them out of that kernel and play with the scripting to get them to run.
Will check for that old thread for you.
