[Q] About Changelists - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

for example you have fw version XXALEF and it has 600,000 changelists then you update it to XXALF6 and it says it has 700,000 changelists.
does that mean the improvements, bugfixes from previous version is only 100,000?
or they are new 700,000 improvements, bugfixes?
i'm thinking maybe it's the 2nd.
tia.

[Q] Rooting and android version

I just finished running the Odin flash of Chainfire CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG6-v4.1-CWM4.zip, thinking that I will upgrade my firmware to 2.3.4. However after I do the setting checking:
setting > About Phone > Android Version > ???
it still showing 2.3.3??? Is that actually work like that, that when rooting, the firmware is upgraded but it will not show in the setting info?
My CWM clearly already changed to CF-Root 4.1 after I open and check it in CWM Manager.
TIA
custom roms make the upgrades on the android version (if included in their package), not the kernels.
Thanks for the info, really helpful

This my phone info:
PDA:KE7 / PHONE:KE4 / CSC:KD1 (XEU)
is it ok if flash and upgrade to:
XXKG6
Android 2.3.4
PDA:XXKG6| PHONE: XXKG6| CSC:XEUKD1
TIA
Yes, it will upgrade your phone to 2.3.4.
I plan to root my SGS2 but have not yet done so. I got the unlocked international edition from Amazon, and it arrived running Android 2.3.3.
Last night I created a Samsung account for myself so that I could upgrade. Then I did upgrade to 2.3.4.
Question: The Wikipedia entry on Android states that the current version of Android for phones is 2.3.6, released on September 2nd.
But when I tried to upgrade again (after having upgraded to 2.3.4) I got a message saying that no further upgrades are available.
I don't have to be on the bleeding edge but would like to at least upgrade to Android 2.3.5 (if there is a 2.3.5).
Why can't I do that (or can I do it)?
(This may in any case be irrelevant when I root -- my understanding of rooting is that to do so replaces the stock firmware, which is the whole point of rooting.)
Perhaps 2.3.5 simply isn't available yet for the SGS2, but that seems odd.

can someone maybe explain to me, what the whole reason of upgrading to 2.3.4+ is?
because I just did so. I upgraded from my 2.3.3 firmware to the latest XWKI4, from the list of the official firmwares. I hoped that by doing so, I would get the latest and greatest GTalk with video and calling options (v1.3).
But for some reason I have exactly this version, but I can not use this feature. Although the version information under applications reads, that I have 1.3 installed...

questions about rooting?

I just brought this in Hk, and i installed the adb drivers etc and tried to use the all in one tool to root, it tells me that my device is currently unrootable?
i've done nothing to the tablet
its running
android version 3.2
kernal version 2.6.36.3
build number 1.10.001100029
i thought that it could be rooted? or am i wrong?
in the kernel version, is it also written kernel10? if so, you may have to upgrade to a newer version of honeycomb. Or you can pre-root the ics version and install that. Dont upgrade to ics through the tablet!!!!

New software update

Hi,
I just got notification for a new software available on my NL 920 in India. I have updated but have not found any new features/change log. Update was 19 MB. I was on Amber earlier. Unfortunately I don't have earlier OS/Firmware version Numbers to compare. Does anyone know what was the update about?
Thanks

You could post your latest firmwareversion number. Mine gives no update available in the Netherlands running Amber.
-Edit- Have a phone bought in Germany, softwareversion 3047.0000.1326.2001.

I think, now "Google" as one of the search default option in IE...which could be the only update, but not sure.
is possible small update for your operator or something else...

for your country check available version here
http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/wp8-software-update/availability-in-europe/
because in India people get update, this not mean all others get this update... every operator and country have own versions of firmware and maybe in India some fix deployed to current version
