Hi there.
Just as the title says. Im looking to buy one myself but wont to get a feel of what people are thinking about there decision to buy this device.
Cheers
Nah! Never regreted my purchase!
On the contrary, I have sent it for the "yellow tint" thingy service, and I already miss the poor [email protected]@rd!
Not a single day!
I recommend it :good:
No, this is the best smartphone I had. X10 and Arc was good ones but the XPS have it all. No more memory problem since it have more than enough.

Compare the design among all other smart phones on the market, the answer is no. Not to mention its still one of those high end dual core devices these days

Some days I regret that I got the XS and not the S3 cause of the settings available in ICS and some of the feature.
But then I look at the design and my XS makes me smile again.

I wonder why people call it outdated phone!!!
if you looked at its hardware, the camera is one of the best (12mp), the screen is one of the best (HD), and it has NFC, just to mention few. tell me one things the xperia s lacks
and if you looked at its software, it is a bit late to the party but its running 4.0.4 (very few phones running this version).
the only thing that might be outdated is the chip ONLY, but with the smooth experience, you won't know that you are using 1 year old chip except from tech sites but not from your phone itself.
the power is not everything, with the xperia s, it is very smooth, while with the more powerful HTC one x, some people suffering some laggyness. well, there is no point of having 1000php truck while 300php porsche will beat it very easily . this doesn't mean I don't want more power, but for the current time, this is just enough for me.

Oh! Another Kiwi! On the internet!
I didn't regret it at all, even though I paid probably a fair bit more than most others to get my hands on mine. It was probably one of the first devices to land here (complete with the yellow screen issue - although mine only turns yellow when the phone heats up. I think some people got screens that stained yellow.)
Got mine at PB, I wanted to play with the phone hands-on before I bought and I figured it'd be a bit of a **** move to go into the store to try it and then buy it somewhere else for cheaper. I had to convince them to sell me their display model. I wanted the black one but they had that one on display, and an unopened white handset... but I wanted the black. I go to PB a lot anyway with electronics purchases for friends and family, so. Loyalty pays off!
They've dropped their price a lot since I snapped up my handset. I paid $950 GST Inc, which was a fair bit more than the Galaxy S II was going for at the time. Early adopter's tax
If you want it on contract with Vodafone, I've been told unofficially that the Xperia S should be available from them very soon.
the only thing I regret is the software! sony really has to do a better job with it's software...
the phone itself is great :victory:
Not one bit. Love it
Just a few things you must know....-
The worst battery life you will ever have on a smart phone.

Worst battery life on smart phone? How many smart phone do u have? And on another note, xs can do fastcharging (provided u have the needed accessories). U got full battery in about 1 hr and 30 minutes.while some new smartphones need bout 3 hours. It even charge faster than my GT540.

I would certainly purchase it if I hadn't have been given one the phone is amazing, it's fast it's smooth has great memory and the display is second to none....

Cant agree with the battery life . You can say it average at most but not "bad" .
Capacitive button is very sensitive on stock ICS . Try it .
Every phone will "lag little" it depend hows ur tolerant .
My opinion , best camera among android , clear and crispy screen , nice UI , stable os , multi function . Full statifice espicially on ICS stock .
Only lack of root without unlocking bootloader . Never regret .
Other than less sensitive capacitive bottoms and not satisfying battery life..... No not a single day I regret buying this amazing phone specially now that I updated my phone to ics I noticed an improvement in the sensitive of the capacitive bottoms and also improved the battery life noticeably that with the help of my recent purchase of JuiceDefender
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
These capacitive buttons really sucks.. I'm looking for a patch to enable on-screen buttons, the physical ones are driving me crazy.
You should try a device first if you don't accept having to press the buttons more than once frequently.
I had no improvements on ICS regarding these capacitive buttons.
the only things that would make me regret, are:
The size, because operating it with one hand is not easy (touching top screen) But i think every other comparable phone is big or even bigger than the XPS
The sensitivity of the 3 capacitive buttons, exactly.. suck . and no it's not something you will just get used to, because you will only get used to used it in a different way so it still works... This only should have been a reason to fix before selling. but probably was too late.
but there is probable no better phone yet so.. :good:

well I don't know about others but I am coming from HTC Sensation XE- and trust me if I didn't use the phone at all (or while at night) , my phone could easily give 10 hours for just 1% with a custom rom....whereas in XS I still lose 6% on Ics
and 1 more thing is that...we used to have 100s of roms updated on daily basis so I could change to the rom which suited me / usage.......but here I have hardly seen 5 roms (thanks to krappbel) he is the only who developing usable roms sofar...
Many kernels mods and so on but here u are restricted to your Ics with a poor battery life.....even galaxys3 which released after xs have a couple of roms

Hi folks,
How are you getting on with your S2, still happy, any buyers remorse?
Is the camera pink spot still an issue?
I'm contemplating buying the S2 or possibly the HTC Sensation, but I'm leaning slightly more towards the Samsung at the moment. I've had a HTC Desire which was great but I've just returned my 3rd HTC Incredible S due to poor phone signal issues. I do very much like the Sense interface and that's making my decision a little difficult.
Love my sgs 2. So yea still very pleased and prob will for a long time.

Battery life compared to the iPhone? How long does your battery last now?
With my previous Android phones I'd get a days usage, I had JuiceDefender installed though.
No remorse at all. Had mine over a week now. Don't notice this much talked about pink spot? Battery life is about the same as my previous 5 android devices! Samsung do an official larger battery which is nice if you need it. Can't wait for Ice Cream Sandwich with touchwiz!
Always loved htc sense but this touchwiz lark is pretty good. Just wish it had 2 things, alphabetical app draw and setting for default homescreen.

LOL you clearly haven't read up properly on this forum, battery life is brilliant if you know what to do.
Best phone ever, worth the money for sure
Yup, it's been several months and I love this phone! (Unlike many other phones I've owned in the past) Go ahead and buy it - we're sure you won't have any regrets.
you can have my one....selling it to get the iphone 4s best damn phone ever man..galaxy s2 horrible yuk
I suggest you absolutely do not get a Sensation. Mine went back to the repair centre 3 times with dust under the screen. The build feels hefty but the actual hardware - from the screen to the camera to the cellular transmitter to the loudspeaker - is inferior. The only thing with the S2 is that it doesn't feel as substantial in the hand; though the S2 form factor certainly makes it easier to text on in my opinion. I have also ordered an iPhone 4S. Three in fact. Have you SEEN how much these things go for on eBay when they sell out?

It's a shame that HTC seem to be losing their way a little as far as quality is concerned, the Antenna issue that I had on my Incredible S appears to affect the Sensation too.

They don't seem to have much concern for product longevity and they take too many design punts which evidently have potentially catastrophic repercussions. They also release FAR too many devices per year. It completely cheapens the brand. No one makes the consumer feel more confident in their purchase than Apple. You KNOW you will get great product support and you KNOW your phone wont be out of date and forgotten about in six months. At least Samsung tend to stick to a flagship phone for about a year. I just don't know why HTC can't make a decent phone with great tech and stick with it. It's like they're constantly on the run rather than constantly trying to improve.

if mine broke and i could choose any phone out there to replace it i would go for the sgs2 all over again and thats 4-5 months of ownership
battery life is excellent for a smartphone with these features , hardware is pretty future proofed for a while (1gb ram / high end cpu/gpu / great screen / etc etc) software is stable / dev support is excellent / apps and game support is pretty decent /
yep defo love my sgs2
I love my galaxy s2 more now than I did when I first got it, recent updates mean the android os bug has gone and the yellow tint has disappeared. I'm getting just as much bettery life as I did with my iphone 4.

Sorry I disagree with the sensation being inferior, I sold my SG2, it was ok, quick, but I didn't like the screen, I prefer the qhd on the sensation and its just as fast, you won't notice much difference when using them any way and it does feel much better in the hand. But there has been issues with dust under the screen on a lot of the devices.
In the end its down to personal choice

Can't agree there, i had an EVO 4G before, and i had to leave it just to get a dual-core phone (and the super amoled+ is certainly a +) so here i am, but the quality of the evo was great, first 4G, among the first 4.3 inch, kickstand, amazing gps, only drawback as with most androids was the battery and solved with a 2000 mah battery, i sold it after more than a year with no problems at all.
Well I have to say I bought the Xperia S with high hopes it would live up to my past experiences of the Sony brand and the spec list on the Xperia S, however it hasnt really.
I have found it laggy and under-whelming even in normal use and dont get me started on those bottom buttons.
Looking at the spec, I would expect it to be a hell of alot quicker and less laggy than it is. Are these things that will be fixed with an update or is this the best we can expect the device to ever be.
Camera, not that impressed. It is capable of very good shots, but doesnt deal well with light, with areas of a image being washed out due to normal light from sky.
Anyone else considering sending it back / selling it, and buying something else?
I just sold it and decided to wait for a Sony model designed for ICS or with better bottom buttons. I thought the phone had too much Bezel area and length for the screen size. I hope Xperia P buttons are more sensitive. I didn't have long enough to see any performance issues. I seem to love my Arc even more now

I gotta be honest I'm really not sure. I also dunno if i want such a big screen. Stuck the Xperia s back in the box this morning and been using my trusty old iPhone 4 and I kinda prefer the size...but everything high spec at the moment seems to be going the 4 inches route.
I do agree btw what you said about ICS on the XS...it seems to be last in line..though I'm not really sure if it would make an improvement. You happy with yours aside from that?
Im happy with mine xperia s. Im only disappointed with built-in battery ;/
Very happy with the device, no disappointment.
I believe delaying the ICS is the correct decision, rather than rush out a flawed upgrade.
Had mine since release date I have no regrets. I like the build and NXT iface. battery I get just around 30hrs but I am not really a heavy user. Just waiting for the firmware update ICS right now is not a biggie for me. those wanting gs2 good luck to you just remember GS3 ain't that far away. Good luck to the HTC one guys personally I cannot stand sense or TW. Each to their own
XPS still is one of the most beautiful looking Android phone out there. HTC One X looks ugly to my eyes but I just pulled the trigger on it. Should have it next week. I just don't like how HTC phones have that curved edges at four corners of the screen. Decided to give it a chance till I find more details on Xperia P and the capacitive buttons.

I completely agree. This is the best gingerbread device on the market currently and one of the best smart phones currently available.
While lack of ICS for the time being is disappointing. The design, hardware and features more than makes up for that.
People are constantly praising my phone how amazing it looks and feels.
I've even had Nexus owners compliment my phone.
We also have the best screen and camera on the market currently.
You'd have to be crazy to give this phone up.

There's an easy trick to the capacitive buttons.
Instead of pressing the buttons, slide your finger over the area.
Garanteed 100% accuracy everytime.

Touch sensitive buttons never a problem for me, I don't understand how anyone can have problems with them. When I first got the phone it was a bit hit and miss but got used to where I needed to press very quickly. If you have big fingers maybe but otherwise you shouldn't have a problem.
I had the hd2 for two years prior to owning this phone, and I loved it especially as it was easy to root and there are loads of custom roms and tweaks,it was like having a new phone every week.
Xperia S took a bit of getting used to coz I liked sense, still do, but after all the changing of roms it's nice to have everything working out of the box and I wanted a decent camera and video recorder and the one on the xperia is first class.
I'm not totally happy with everything but I haven't been with any phone I've had, the perfect phone doesn't exist, and never will.
I specifically got this for the camera capabilities, any other positives where a bonus.
So overall I'm very happy, but as someone already mentioned, each to there own.

Hello,
I just want to get the opinions of all xperia users who would like to take the time to answer my question.
I currently have a samsung galaxy note and i stumbled across the xperia s via the smartwatcha and smart wireless headset pro (i have this ocd-ish problem where all of my gadgets need to have one brand primarily) and i was wondering what are the community's take on the phone?
I'll primarily be using it as a secondary phone if not become primarily as soon as i get tired of lugging my big ass Galaxy Note around.
There is just something alluring about its sharp minimalistic style not to mention having a hd bravia tv in the palm of my hand.
Anyways, back to my question: what are your general opinions of the phone? Good or bad i'd like to hear them all.
Its a good phone, I love the screen and the processor seems fast enough. My gripes with it are, I am not sure about the button placement. Also I am not a fan of the usb flap cover. The light bar is awesomeness though.
It's awesome. That's all.

i had sgs2

worth it ? yep
I came from a note as well although mine died
I love this phone, my only gripe is the lack of developers here on xda, most devs seem to goto Samsung or HTC. I actually don't know if that's a good or bad thing because Sony's UI is fantastic and so is the whole experience so rooting the phone isn't really worth it at this stage for me, whereas with the note I was flashing every other day and that wasn't necessarily a good thing.
I miss the big screen of the note but I sure don't miss the SAMOLED display and the bad placement of those capacitive buttons and also the power button. The other real bad thing I noticed when I came to the xperia was how badly the note handled itself under sunlight I could never make out what was displayed and had to use my other hand as shade which didn't improve it much and also adding to the already difficult handling. With the Sony there is zero problems under sunlight I was amazed. I've held the Sony directly in sunlight and still can see the screen at around 80% vision comparing to the notes 10% vision.
I paid 800AUD for the note in November and I just paid 420AUD for the xperia s just after they got released and personally it outperforms it in software and hardware.
Sony feels expensive in the hands yet its cheap, Samsung feels cheap yet its expensive.
Oh yeh one other thing I really hate is the flap covers for the USB I could understand if the phone lasted a week without charge but when you charge everyday its pointless and frustrating.

It works just as any auto-adjust, it just isn't as drastic when it adjusts ( more adjusts in phases than the 'low light > omg my eyes!'). It adjusts how it should at night, and outside (even in the sun) it is the most visible and clear I have ever seen in a touchscreen phone, the clarity is really impressive.
I don't know why, but I guess since most people use the auto setting, they removed it? I dunno, but you can still disable it with a widget anyways, so it doesn't really matter

hy all,
now i have a lww and iwant to get moved to go, but i wanna know, how its pefformance??(for daily use, im not a gamer) and battery life?? how its support?? (unofficial way definitly, i know official way it isn't good) and is i can swim with it?? cause that was what i wanted to do.
so, should i buy xgo???
If you are going to use it only for basic uses like calling, messaging and installing casual apps then u should go for it. Provided u don't mind the lower Res screen. Biggest plus point would be that it is water and dust resistant. Battery life totally depends upon usage. If u are a casual user then you should get past 8 hrs. But I am skeptical about software support especially since I feel 4.1 would be the last official update from Sony. And unofficially I don't know what is possible because the soc maker that is St Ericsson hasn't released sources pertaining to novathor chip set and I wonder if they will ever release it coz St Ericsson is no more. This is an issue plaguing all devices having novathor chipset. If someone can port os beyond 4.1 then it will be pure magic.

wow, its make me think twice even three times, to get xgo, so unofficial way it isn't good too? man, my lww get cm 10.1 that its android 4.2.2 and xgo just stuck in 4.1. even nAa make 3.x kernel for 2011mdpi device.
anyway, thanks for your repply, thanks pressed
Hi there! I have an X go. For basics stuff is ok. Gingerbread runs fast (but is GB...) ICS is nicer but soooo sloooowwww, and JB seems never will be ready. The GPS sucks, sometimes takes 30 minutes to find the fuc****g signal and sometimes will be better to wait on a chair for the gps signal (never). I won’t recommend it, but depends on how much money you have. Is the one I have so, I love it and I hate it, especially for the gps because, I bought it for running and track my runs but... sometimes you just want to $/$/(7)&%/#@
You should better go for a Qualcomm powered device dude, stay away from others chips

ICS is slow as hell before rooting and removing junk and editing build.prop.
You can swim with it. Not too deep and not for too long. Screen won't respond underwater so you'll need to start filming above water and you'll need a different camera app to take pics underwater with the vol key. Also when it's too wet, finger tracking doesn't work as much as the Active.
I bought mine because my hands sweat a lot and I'm reckless with gadgets. Also, it's fun to watch the reactions of other smartphone users (read: iFans) by saying "Can your (brand here) phone do this without protection?" I'll then throw my uncased phone behind me or drop it in a glass of liquid.

So, otherwise Active is better rights??? Even with single core.
But i hate design of Active, its so odd for me.
And for xgo user, how many hours your battery from 100% to 0%
Sent from my WT19i using xda app-developers app
Active is a really tough phone but it lacks power.
Battery life depends on how it's used. I'm not really a stickler for battery life when in use. It's the standby time I look for. With tweaks, I probably lose about 2% overnight while sleeping (wifi on). This can probably go a week if I don't touch it. IF.

If you are a casual user not a heavy gamer and if I are happy with its 512 MB RAM AND ITS CAMERA then you should buy it.And btw I'm also in ics,I don't face touch lags as I have root access and using setcpu to 1000 Mhz.I usually play games half an hour or less ,use internet almost 3 hrs(data traffic on only when I use it),I don't use WiFi and I get almost 20 hrs of battery.
And yes our Xperia go is very very close to get the jb update 4.1.2 within a week.So IYS your choice whether to buy it or not.
Its major disadvantage that I feel is its low resolution and small size screen, also less ram(512).
Thanks guys, i decided to buy xgo next week. Just one last question. Its the yellow one is always the sport edition??
Sent from my WT19i using xda app-developers app
If I understand your question, I think both the yellow one and the black one are the same. It is just a matter of tastes. With JB, I don't hate anymore this phone. With some xda help finally, the gps is working properly. Good luck with your purchase!

Yellow comes basic or as sports edition (with Live View).
Stock and locked JB ST27i
(Until someone can figure out an easy root with cwm solution for locked bl.)

hello guys ... i am a proud owner of LG G2 ... one of the best phones i ever had ... and im willing to upgrade but im lost between S5 Z2 and One m8, and cant make my mind
i really love the concept of Z2 but im very worried because many people mentioned that they suffer over heating when playing games and shooting videos ... i know i wont be shooting 4k videos ... its just something that i dont need ... at least now .. but what about games and software ... does it really overheat and become uncomfortable to hold ?? what about charging time ... how long does it take to become fully charged ?
what would you recommend ?
especially that i tend to drop my phones alot
I had the same problem and decided to buy the Z2. I have no problems with overheating whatever I do. Software is the best customized android out there. Better than sense or touchwiz. Idk how long it takes to fully charge but not very long at least not longer than on my m7
I would go for the z2. Awesome phone
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
It doesnt overheat playing games or other stuff, only 4k recording. M8 is more comfortable in hand, z2 has better package overall.

Hello XperiaZ2 user switched from HTC One(m7) here! Overheating while you are playing game isn't a problem, it happens to all phone. (At least my HTC One did) And I am playing HD Youtube everyday but at least I don't get burnt, so it must be okay for you too. Also as 4k is new technology for smartphone, we have to understand it is still not perfect, some user reports that software update solve this overheating problem and I don't feel it too hot.
Yeah I couldn't choose between M8 and Z2 and OnePlus..... but finally I bought XperiaZ2. As they have better spec and price is lower than M8 and I wanted something funny! (Oneplus is good price and good spec, but it's too simple!)
They have shatter proof glass It shouldn't break easily.(I dropped several times, but there is no crack and working fine!)
Yeah XperiaZ2 is really good phone I've used Xperia Z and HTC One(m7) yeah much better than these. I recommend you to go with Sony.
- so you guys all agree that there is no overheat while playing games or some intensive apps ? at least not more than other phones right ?
one more question .. is it easy to scratch ? (does it require special care and should i be worried where and how i place it ?)
please be very honest and i would like to see more opinions please

Okay. There is some heating but not as bad as overheating.
As they are using shatter proof glass I can't see scratch with out case and protector.
You take your time and think. Z3 might be coming in few months.... (it's what happend when I bought Xperia Z)
It overheats if there are so many apps running in the background and when you shoot 4K videos.
Charging takes me over 4 hours I thought my charger was faulty but it wasn't I'm using my old samsung charger it takes around 3 hours.
I bought HTC One m8 for my partner and I'm jealous tbh. But I'm happy with my z2 as well. HTC One m8 feeling is a lot better in hand and camera is a lot faster.

I have left the LG G2 for the Xperia Z2 and glad I did.
I would say it heats up less than the G2 when playing intensive games.
The only thing the G2 had that I wish the Z2 had is knock off. It has knock on, just can't turn off the screen with a double tap :/

I meant in daily use...... We don't use phone like that...
i've had my Z2 for about a week now and haven't noticed any excessive overheating. i've never had a smartphone that didn't heat up somewhat while playing games and i don't feel the Z2 is any worse than my HTC One M7 was. i prefer Sense's widgets and apps but the interface on the Z2 is quite nice and i am enjoying messing around with the camera. i think i can agree with the reviews in that the Z2 doesn't necessarily beat other phones in any one area but it is solid or even great in all areas. this is probably the first phone i've owned that has all the things i want (front-facing speakers, CAMERA BUTTON, and SD card) and doesn't compromise anywhere.
Conclude:
As HTC One(m7) and Z2 has different Concept so it can't simply compared. And they are different generation.... But I can definitely say Z2 is the one of the best smartphone I've ever had include my Smartphone from Japan..... Anyway you might get overheat problem but you can simply take it back to shop.... (do it before you messed it up with rooting!) As my latest phone is XperiaZ2 this opinion is bit biased, but still it's a good phone.... Some time I feel it big..... it might not be big problem if you are switching from G2....
Give it a try........ You'll love it. ( ・`ω・´)
There is heat on the Z2, but not 'Overheating'. Heats up just as much as any other smartphone out there when gaming. But doesn't get hot to the extent u can make barbecue or scramble eggs on it. And when u are not gaming, it is ice cool (at least, mine is). The Xperia Z2 is the best device i ever used, and i'm not even rooted yet. xD
I have to agree with a lot of the comments already posted.
The phone WILL heat up but it doesn't affect performance in any way.. and it's not excessively heating up more than any other smartphone would...
Also.. This is the first phone where I don't feel it's absolutely necessary to Unlock bootloader and root...
I have been unlocking and rooting all my previous phones because I felt it's essential to do so... S2, S3, Z, Z1...

Opinions are subjective. The choice is there. All the mobiles you mention are top models, 'Flag ships', in their brand and function extremely well. All are different and there is no such device as 'the best'. You need to discover what phone will fit your needs.
I change phones about twice a year, sometimes three times. I am a technophile, Its my hobby, my vice. My advice to you would be to see all the mobiles you mention, have a play and make YOUR choice.
I lean toward Sony at present and away from Samsung and HTC. I do this because I FIND the UI on the HTC and the Samsung's too heavy. I PREFERE the UI on the Sony brand. I do find the quality for a flag ship mobile to be well represented by both HTC and Sony. I prefer the Sony only through choice.
I have owned several HTC mobiles and I live out in the countryside where signal strength is poor. HTC so far have been one of the weakest in terms of being able to pick up a signal. The Sony and Samsung also LG have all been fine with Nokia being the most competent in terms of catching signal strength.
I sold my SG Note 3 within weeks. This was MY FAULT, I purchased the phone on pre sale order before I had the chance to even hold one. When I held it, after owning the Sony Xperia Z, I was bitterly disappointed with the phones plastic construction. Plastic leather back with plastic play stitching plus the plastic chrome sides? It just didn't give ME that quality buzz and pride of ownership. My Sony Z Ultra is a quality device that oozes class and quality of materials and construction, size is the problem there.
I now use the nexus 5 and the Sony Xperia Z ultra. I have ordered the Z2 last week and will sell the Nexus 5.
IF the Z2 is built to the same standards the Ultra and Z are then I shall be a very happy person. I miss the UI as the Nexus 5 is not serving my needs even though it also is a very fine mobile indeed.
Please don't read too many forums. If you took notice of the reports, reviews and posts you read on ANY forum you would never dare make another single purchase including the shoes on your feet. All the mobiles you mention are best buys for the owner. Its what your expectations are that counts not mine.
Let us know what you decide on purchasing. Good luck with what ever you buy I am sure you will enjoy your new mobile.
Regards, Ryland
Oh BTW is you seriously drop your phones a lot I would either insure you new phone or NOT purchase ANY phone that price. If you do purchase a flagship phone buy a case and screen saver plus insurance.
to be frank with you ,wait atleast for two more weeks then get the 14w20,21 batch it seems to be ok

check the batch number in the micro sd port information tray and get some information on the internet, right now im really fed up with sony im so upset that i wouldn't care anymore :/
Just wait mate don't buy it now
I came from a G2 as well, I'll say get whichever is cheaper. They're both about the same. HTC got better speakers and a big dev base (if that's important to you), Z2 has better camera and the waterproof aspect.
Apart from that, both got great battery life, screens are great, build quality great on both devices. Don't worry about the heat issue, anytime u push a phone it gets warm a bit
