It is best to get an OEM battery. Anything else will give you bad battery life and could harm your phone in the long run.

Don't get the one linked above. From reading the reviews, it looks like the retailer sells the one pictured, but sends a different one that is not OEM. I saw this one, but wondered if it is compatible with our phones. Anyone know?

Its a bigger battery. The one I linked to, states the model # of the battery, which matches my battery. Who cares about reviews, the model # matches, thats all that matters, if the seller does send out different, then you got a false advertisement, and scam to report.

Hey. Just wondering if this battery turned out to be any good.
The easiest solution to ensure that you aren't getting stiffed on battery is to get two OEM ones, remove one of the NFC antennas, then solder the batteries together in parallel and then wrap them together with some very strong tape.

Hey,
I was trawling the internet for some cheap extended batteries. (my only other experience with them was the official HTC one for the HD2).
I heard someone saying that there is a good 3500mah one going on Amazon for £11. I'm presuming he meant this as it is the first result: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ecell-3500M...A9ZW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333452409&sr=8-1
After a quick search on ebay I found the same battery for £5.99! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3500mah-H...ltDomain_3&hash=item256aa12a8e#ht_2235wt_1024
But is it any good? Has anyone had any prior experience with unbranded batteries?
Thanks,
Louis
never go for it, no use, this are fake chinese battery, i got one for evo 4g. it was told to be 3500 but it was not even 1000 mah.

I got this on amazon and has been doing calibration with the battery monitor widget and its calibrating out to at least 2500mah. One peculiar thing is the first 40% or so drop by very fast, but then from 50-30 percent it last a lot longer, this has been notice by another poster also. the battery door is also decent, first generation soft touch rubber coating type material and not as ugly as the Seidio door

You buy many spare batteries for the amount an original battery costs. One spare battery made in China is about € 2,50.
What the real capacity is doesn't matter, as long it does it job as spare battery, you can always order a second one.
Also would it be better to buy the 3500mah and use that as primary. or buy something like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/High-Qual...ultDomain_3&hash=item43ab4ef97d#ht_2079wt_805
And use it as a secondary battery? Which would provide the best overall battery life?

that is hard to say, because everybody usage pattern is different, but even if its only 2500mah it still comes to 50% more capacity then the stock 1700mah.
Last night charge cycle adjust it to about 2700 mah, I don't think its settle down yet, seem the more charge history the widget collect the more accurate the calibration should be.

Guys dont trust some of these batteries. I bought a few of these similar type batteries cause they were really cheap 2 for $9.99 with charger. This has been discussed to death already. I bought another set of 3x + 1 charger. They didnt last long at all. I peeled the stickers on all of them at they were all had 1000mah stamped on it but the sticker says 1800mah. This has been pointed out here before too. It was a complete waste of time and a hassle trying to get my $ back. Seller didnt bother taking the batteries back. For the total of $20 I spent and headache I couldve just bought and anker or chichitec. Which I did. I bought 2x 1900mah anker + charger for 24.99 a while back and they have been great. Been using them for 10 months now and last slightly longer than stock. I will look for the thread so you guys can do some reading but it did get pretty lengthy. Spend the extra $5 or even $10 and dont go for these cheap batteries.
Here's the thread. Take time to read it and it may be worth your trouble later down the road.

Has anyone looked at Laza's 3240mah on Amazon? I wonder how well it will work. I purchased one for 9.99 and paid less than $15 after shipping. It came in today and I got it on the charger now. Looks like Amazon has it for 14.99+S&H now, but has anyone bought this before? If so, how is the life?
Cannot post link because of new account.

It seems kinda cheap looking but I could be wrong. May be worth it for that price tho!
For that price I will try another Ext. Battery.
those reviews look SO fake. if it drops down to 9.99 again, maybe i'll grab one ;D
No thanks. That thing will either stop holding charge within a couple months, or explode next to your head while its on the nightstand charging overnight....
The review on the bottom is fake. Companies that review their own product often spell "the" as "teh" in their posts to make you think its real because it contains a typo..... But i'll stick with the $25 extended battery I got from my local VZW store...
Well, one thing I noticed is that I cannot connect to 4G. Anybody have any idea why?

Have you tried downloading battery monitor free and seeing what it shows up as? My oem extended shows like 2740 or something. I appreciate the answer though. You mind if I ask what kind of screen on time your getting? I usually get in the 5h range. I've made it almost 6 before using strictly wifi.

do you have a link to battery monitor free? also, I don't know much about my screen on time (I think it was about 4.5 but with 4 days idle on 3g) because I prefer the slimmer original battery.
edit: stats
Going to be spending a week in the mountains in NC. No power back in the woods. If anyone has personal experience with a GOOD external battery pack I would like some input. I take the kids camping and that's why I have spent so much time trying to get the max battery life from this phone. I can make it 4 days. Not 7 though. Lol needs to be durable of course. And reliable.

Lol never had a use for a weeks use before. I seriously doubt it could make it that long regardless of what I did. The most on screen time is going to be about 24 hours. And that is with inside and low light conditions. Gonna be outside so screen would drain it.
I don't have personal experience with it, but this should definitely be worth a try. Make sure you use the correct code.

It's kinda funny that they show the 13000mAh battery for $45, but it's actually $30 on Amazon and has been since around January .
The 15000mAh battery is $40 on Amazon vs their $54 listed price when you click the link and has also been $40 since around January. Not sure why they claim they are on sale today ......... maybe cause it says " Gawker Media may get a commission" in the fine print.
Still a seem to be a good deal though.

Looks like the hurricane is going further west than I hoped. Trip delayed. Will give me chance to test out the battery pack anyway. Lol.
I borrowed a 6600mAh power bank purchased at 5-Below (haha) and fully charged it, then used it to charge my HAM2 which was at 4%. Power bank crapped out at 77%. Will repeat the experiment within a few days and post back. So much for 6600 mAh, more like 3000 mAh.
How's the solar power bank your wife found? Probably another scam unless you paid a lot for it. Look up reviews on YouTube.
My battery no longer seems to be charging when in the phone (even though it charges in the external battery charger), so I'm shopping around for a new battery. The official LG battery costs around £25, which seems alot. I was wondering whether anyone had tried any of the lower price 3rd party batteries which are available - e.g. this one:

I use the TQTHL Technology A+ rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Model: Max G5. Its Li-ion 3.85vdc puts out 4kmAh/15.40Wh. They are blue with white cover stickers.. I did a lot of looking into which battery would seem best or if j should just go with a backup factory battery. I had the same issue with my charge port, ( saying it wasnt really ever "fast charging" unless I'd unplug the C-Cord 4 or five times and switch outlets. Their is another decent 3rd party battery, the name slips my mind as I'm sure there's more tban these two 3rd party batteries... However the TQTHL Tech battery was not only less expensive than the battery with the red tape on it... The TOTHL Tech batter is also NFC capable.
::HIGHLY IMPORTANT INFO:: ITS RECOMMENDED TO CHARGE THE TWO TQTHL TECH BATTERIES ALL THE WAY THEN INTERCHANGE FACTORY BATTERY WITH TOTHL TECH AND LET IT RUN COMPLETY OUT UNTIL THE PHONE BOOTS OFF. I READ TO DO THIS A TOTAL OF 5-10 TIMES EACH BATTERY TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THIS INEXPENSIVE AMAZING BATTERY.
I found mine on Amazon/with Prime for 12.80$ (U.S.) or something awesome like that... I got my batteries jn about a day and a half..... The factory replaceable batteries are anywhere from 11.00-29.00$ (U.S.) and that's just for one.
The changing prongs that charges the batter could be a smidge more tighter. --FACTORY BATTERY ALSO WILL charge just fine in the cradle. Does seem the 3rd party batteries have a longer charge span than the factory. Hope this helped if the other two replies weren't satisfactory\helpful

You can get two TQTHL TECH. LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES ON Amazon for about 12-14$ (U.S.). With my Prime membership it may of took three days, however it coulda just been two. That was this past March that I ordered them and they still outlast the LG BL-42D1F.
The battery Model Name is MAXG5 and has 3.85VDC (same as factory model) however, it pushes 4000mAh/15.4oWh
-Typically the LG BL-42D1F only pushes a typical 2800mAh/10.8Wh -- WITH A MINIMUM AMOUNT -- of ONLY 2700mAh/10.4Wh
Hopefully this was helpful. Please click the "helpful link" is it was.

These are the worst fake batteries and you came here to advertise.
@ OP as long as you cant find batteries from reputable manufacturers like anker or zerolemon, buy original ones (only directly from lg as there are fake ones pretending to be genuine).
Hmmmm.....
Has anyone tried the Powerbear battery? It's on Amazon for £9.99. Same capacity as the stock battery (2800mAh) but less than half the price. 2 year warranty as well. Only 3 reviews but 2 of the them were 5-star.

I'm not advertising anything.. Only thing I was doing was giving my opinion on how I unbuasedly felt about the batteriers. I also included what I was told to do to get the best out of the product I bought. And the worst ones out? And fake? Haha mine have been going strong since April... To whom this thread was rwsllu asking thequestion.... You could do what I did or what this other clown had done. I didn't see another battery that was available fort the g5 but the factory one that would last longer push more and most importantly I hadn't seen a single third party battery where the specks both match up and are NFC compatible. I did hear one bad review... This kid said he couldn't get the battery to fit the charger... Which that's funny because it slides open to keep the battery I'm place, bhr first you'd make sure rhw charging prongs would line up.... So how You like thAt for getting on here and voicing my own opinion. Which I'm allowed to have, especially if someone creates a thread asking about about a 3rd party battery... Why would I not suggest the one that has worked. Then again you must be one of those troll people thats got nothing better to do but TRY to make others feel insepie

I seriously don't care what you think is real or fake... But my TQTHL TECH batteries, like I said actually work better than the factory ones charge quick and last mkmger... Shi I'm having a hard time understanding how I've gone and marketed those inarticulate item... You didn't the same thing just left out%%5 ane one here and even said theone bag thingy if heard about them but yet I'm
So I just looked for the TQTHL batteries on Amazon.co.uk and you can't buy them individually - only in packs of two for £28. Since I don't want to spend £28 this doesn't help unfortunately. The Powerbear one looks interesting though - has anyone tried one?
On Amazon Uk, Original replacement batteries are £17 and cheap ones are £10

Had a third party battery Nohon brand but the performance was atrocious. Bought a OEM one and didn't had any problems.
Any updates on a good (available in the UK) battery for the G5?
Thanks

Here's one I can vouch for. On Amazon UK, search for B01N4NTQ98 and only buy from seller "Onogo". Don't risk getting a fake with other sellers. The price is around £7 to £10. Delivery takes about 1 week to arrive from NL. I've ordered twice from them, and the batteries have always been good.
After 1 year of usage, I'd expect the battery to power off at the 10-15% mark. Remember that the original batteries sucked too... Not much you can do about that
Now for my experience. I've had my current battery (replacement #2) for about 9 months. It powers off around the 15-20% mark. Bear in mind that I didn't care about battery health whatsoever. You probably won't be treating it as bad as I did.
Statistics from AccuBattery:
Battery health = 78%
Estimated capacity = 2,191 mAh (out of 2800 mAh)
Based on 804 sessions with 50,020% charged for 1,095,698 mAh total
Thanks for the tip, I searched on Amazon but no luck with the part number. Searching for the part number returns a genuine LG battery. I found the seller, based in Jersey? They have G5 batteries, but only 2016 genuine LG.
In the meantime, I've bought a (hopefully) genuine LG battery from eBay, seller says it's 100% new & the date in the pic shows 2018. Hopefully it'll last a few months at least.
On the plus side, at least you can change the batteries in these phones!
my g5 is going strong, plan to keep it for 3 more years if not more, where can i stock up more battery????
Not to derail the thread, but how do you guys reset the counters for the battery? (or is that necessary?)
On my Samsung S7, I had to root the phone and manually edit a file so it would charge the new battery to full capacity. (theres also an internal Samsung tool that does this)
Because this has a user replacable battery, I'm not sure ifbthats necessary here.
Hi all,
can someone advice me about some good battery replacement to buy?

Normally i always tell people stay away from aftermarket. Always buy legit. Factory direct if possible. I've had bad luck with aftermarket batteries. Ranging from my note 2 note 4. Lg3 lg4 I've tried aftermarket and all sucked. I'm sure there are some good ones. But g5 2800 just isn't enough. My s8 shockingly does better with the 3000 stock.

I ended up getting a 3300 mAh from Amazon. Seems alright. Most definitely better than the one I had

Word of warning on these batteries. I bought two very similarly listed batteries back in April. Five months later and they're both going bad. One barely holds a charge, and the other won't charge at all. It looks like the seller changes their name every once in a while to dodge having to honor warranties. May want to go with the OEM here.
