flash videos will not run from the browser, opera, dolphin, chrome.
I have uninstalled flash a few times and re-installed with no luck.
The browsers just basically crash.
I have read that adobe is no longer supporting flash on mobile handsets.
So is there any trick or workaround?
So much for youp04n.. lawls.
Try boat browser
I think its great, they are 90% clutter . foward
Reinstalling Flash and rebooting got it working for me somewhat with Dolphin, but it's still hit and miss.
re
boat browser does not work either.
dolphin has flash in it, i believe you can tic it on or off in options.
I went thrue every option in ICS settings and there are many more options then in gb, some i found set to other then what I would want or in a few options no defalt choices were highlited at all. Since then every thing has gotten better.
It seems to be very snapy even though I seem to be running 450-550 mb in running apps compared to 300 =- in gb. but then again this may just be better prefetching I hope.

Just to confirm, flash works fine using Firefox Beta.
I went to the market and re-installed after updating.
No issues with flash playing.
re
I should have been very specific about this.
Imbedded flash videos dont work for me.
Downloaded videos from espn work fine, the stock you tube player works fine.
What does not work and would somebody else be able to chime in here is videos from youtube's full site dont work when playing the embedded video on the page.
I have also tried a hand full of other .. cough cough ... pron sites with embedded flash and could not get those to work either.
Have uninstalled and then re-installed flash and have tried every browser under the sun.. Still no luck.

I have a Razr Maxx and Saturday sideloaded ICS. Installed flash player. I have been using Dolphin Browers for over a year. Always was able to see my favorite Surf sites with Surfline.com in streaming video. Now after the ICS update, Nada. If fact my Dolphin brower melts when I try to watch a video. I have to exit and close cache and history and start over again to open any website. This pisses me off.
Now I also have a Rezound with ICS 4.03. I am able to watch my favorite Surf sites in HD streaming to my phone. I'm really thinking of making my Rezound my daily driver for just this reason. Something is messed up on the Razr for flash content. Yes I know you get ads and stuff but sometimes I want the content of flash. :crying:

It's probably because people are resigned to the fact that Adobe officially ended mobile Flash support at v4.0x, and it was only a matter of time before it pretty much no longer worked.

Holy cow, we DO have flash lite. You can play some of the games on miniclip. I was playing bush shootout for a bit lol. Not too shabby except that the browser zooms in when you double click, can be annoying. The best bet is to download SWF files and run them directly through the Flash Lite app. It's pretty cool.
I've always suspected we had Flash Lite. Ads are animated but .gifs are not.
Anyway, tried the apk but couldn't get it to work after clearing the cache and cookies and rebooting the vibrant. Browser tests still show that it's FL 9. Nothing that actually requires Flash 10 seems to work like Hulu. However, other flash sites like animations (anyone remember xiao-xiao?) seem to work. Don't know if that's because of the apk or flash lite though.

Hulu hasn't gone mobile, so all of hulu videos will not play even with flash 10.1 on an android device sadly.
There are actually ways to get hulu working on 10.1 and even a hulu app floating around xda that works great.
Sent from my phone.
Yes, just change the browser useragent to something else like "Desktop" and Hulu content plays well (as long as Flash 10.1 is being used, which it isn't right now)
I tried uninstalling the Flash Lite plugin and I was successful. Flash didn't work in the browser. But when I installed Flash 10.1 it didn't work. I tried both an original APK of 10.1 and a modified APK with the webkit permission (supported by 2.1) instead of the new permission that Froyo supports. Nothing works. It could either the the browser or webkit.
It works sorta kinda
Just use the native app! http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?t=2526&p=52431&viewfull=1#post52431
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------OLD ARCHIEVED---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Latest market version of flash should work with the below steps. I will update this if that is no longer true in future releases.
1) Find the libflashplayer.so file you just unzipped (I assume you unzipped it on your NC. Otherwise move it to somewhere on there...SD card perhaps?)
2) Navigate to /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib, then rename libflashplayer.so to libflashplayer.so.bak
2) Copy the downloaded .so file (make sure it's a .SO format, not .txt, etc) using adb or root explorer here: /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib
3) Change permissions to the same as the previous file:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
4) [MAY NOT BE NECESSARY] Open up opera, type "opera:config", and scroll down to "User Agent", change it to a "2" (type makes it appear like a desktop).
5) [NECESSARY] Click on "User Prefs" while still in the opera:config page, and copy and paste one from useragentstring.com into the Custom User-Agent box (about half way down). I'm using this
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1) AppleWebKit/534.25 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/12.0.706.0 Safari/534.25
--------------------------------------
So you can try hulu.com out now (the apk doesn't go fullscreen for me/us?), but it might be laggy. To fix we'll log in and change the default settings for video res. I assume changing this will change it for ALL devices, so I'm using one account for the NC, then another (plus) account for my desktop at home/netbook/etc.
--------------------------------------
6) Log in/create an account.
7) Hover over your name, then click "Settings"
8) Set "Playback Quality:" to 288p. Now save it.
9) Watch some hulu videos![/QUOTE]
You need to repeat steps 2 and 3 on reboot, since those files get removed. I would need to modify the default apk and push our .so file in the package, but haven't done it yet.
Tried modding the apk but it doesn't seem to work. In any event zimmy1979 had a brilliant idea! It worked for him and myself, so why not give it a go? It makes the .so files permanent, so all you have to do is copy my .so file to the correct directory, then follow along! I use WirelessADB because I couldn't find the '+' key on Thumb Keyboard!?! Thanks zimmy!
Performance Protips:
Disable load images - this seems to help framerate. [Credit to cowballz69]
- To make this work, have images on, load the hulu/video page, start playing the video, then turn off the load images button.
Follow steps 6-9.
Enable automatic flash playing [maybe helps]?
Go to the flash settings page on the NC and make sure caching is enabled (should be, but just to make sure)

Parts borrowed from here.
Another thing:
If you have adfree, it will block the ads in hulu (yay!) but depending on your screen timeout setting, it may turn off the screen (and pause the video, oh no!). So either adjust timeout, or swipe your finger around during the ad (but don't click it!).
What forum is this intended for?
Thanks, this works great, and I've gotten it to work fine in full-screen mode also. I might recommend restarting Opera before you go to Hulu and play a file. The difference between going straight into it and restarting the browser seemed to make a big difference in playback quality.
I had no luck with Opera, but I did install Dolphin HD and am currently watching a Family Guy episiode. Performance is acceptable but not great at 288p, I haven't updated my OS for about 2 weeks so maybe there are some improvements available when I get around to it.

The newest nightly I believe updates the ALSA, which does help dramatically with flash videos. Atleast it did for me.
Edit: Actually I don't know, as I don't see it in the changelog. So it may not, if it's not, you can take a look for the ALSA update in the [Dev][Kernel] thread.
Edit 2: Yep it's baked in as of the 14th. So if you have the latest nightly flashed you should have it. And the alsa update should fix flash, as it has for me. Been watching stuff on Megavideo, Karambvideos, Loombo, etc..
it works but its just not watchable, get some really long skipping every couple seconds or so. hope theres a way to smooth this out
All right just did this, did not adjust anything quality wise since I don't have an account and don't feel like signing up for one. Works perfectly fine, alsa update makes it run pretty smooth. A little tiny bit choppy, but only noticeable since I just watched this episode of family guy last night.

Not that I can see, but like I said, I just watched a bit of a family guy episode, I didn't watch anything that wasn't animation, so that might have played a part in my perceiving it to work well.
Anybody running Phiremod V6, ALSA, and update-CM7-dalingrin-OC-emmc-041811C.zip try this? This will eventually be the latest kernel unless something goes bad.
I just tried with 041811C and it works as good as it can (slight stuttering sometimes).

Thanks for the help, but unfortunately it still doesn't work for me, I retraced my steps and I used the user agent string that was posted, "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1) AppleWebKit/534.25 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/12.0.706.0 Safari/534.25" and for some reason, the page loads up but where the video suppose to play, its just displays black.
I used the 04042011 kernal OC, and then I just tried using 04182011C kernal OC, I'm currently trying to get this working on dolphin HD (dolphin HD has a custom user agent section). Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Running Phiremod v6, can't try.. my /data is empty, so I have no place to put the .so file. I have flash installed and working, but no idea where in the nook it is, and Astro can't find it
I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere, but has anyone else had issues with flash videos not playing? Instead of them playing in the browser, a new gray window pops up with the touchplayer logo in the middle. Then it spins for maybe 20 seconds, and says that there was an error playing the video.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on how to solve it?
Its the biggest issue I have with the touchpad, I love it besides this.
I've attached screen shots of what I'm seeing (if it works from my Evo 3D, couldn't seem to attach images from the touchpad browser)
Thanks!

Any sites in particular?
My guess though is poor implementation on the sites you can't get it to work with, but it could also be from ad blocking.
here is one.
http://jalopnik.com/5837515/watch-this-ninja-flip-over-a-speeding-acura-nsx
I watch a lot of videos here, and at least 90% of the time it doesn't work. Every once in a while a video does work normally. I tried taking off ad blocker, but it didn't seem to help.
can you guys play that video on your TP?
site works fine for me. Sorry
wow, this is frustrating. Even YouTube videos thru the YouTube "app" do this. I really gotta figure this out.
One possible scenario could be the kernel you're using. I had the same problem when I was using the F-15 kernel. Once I switched over to the F-4 Phantom kernel, flash worked just fine. Might wanna try that if you've experimented with kernels, overclocked, etc.
Works for me too and I block ads with my own list directly in /etc/hosts. Should also work for you, it's just a youtube video. Try watching it on youtube.com if you cant make it work there (press on the youtube button at the bottom).

As far as I know, there is no manual way to update the flash plugin on webOS, it just comes with the official updates sent out by HP. However, did you try updating your touchpad to the latest webOS version under settings?
This happens to me as well, it's quite annoying. :/ I am running a custom kernel though...I'll have to look into it more.
Please let me know if you find a fix. I was using Uberkernal at 1.5, but I tried going back to stock kernal and nothing changed. I have the recommended patches as well to speed up the tp, but I doubt those are causing issues, otherwise everyone would be reporting this issue.
Maybe tonite i will look into a hard reset (full wipe). I don't know how to do that as of now, but i assume it can be done easily.
Any other thoughts on this issue?

I am using uberkernel right now and it worked okay. I would just try doing a full reset of your tablet, because youtube should probably be the first flash based site that always works. The only other thing I can think of that might be causing the problem is if you are signed into the html5 test on youtube.
Just wanted to post an update. I was able to get flash working again. Flashing the stock kernal back didnt help, nor did a hard reset. But when I looked at the browser preferences, i cleared cookies and cache, and turned off "enable flash" and "Autoload Flash". Not sure exactly what combo made it work, but everything is working as it should now.
Thanks to those who looked into this for me, I appreciate it!
similar issue
I have a similar issue, flash doesn't work on some sites especially the cbc.ca video site (none of the videos work ). Youtube works fine though.
Things I've tried so far:
1) Full Erase and reinitialization of WebOS
2) Installation and later removal of some "performance tweaks" including Preware, Uberkernel etc.
3) Clearing of Cache and Cookies
4) Reinstallation of WebOS through WebOSDoctor
Everything works fine with my laptop on the same network, just not on the Touchpad.
I've tried everythin I can think of to rectify it from different Roms to running a nuke script, also deleting and installing it but I always get the same battery drain which is quite excessive. the culprit seems to be mobi.mgeek.tunnybrowser
here are some screens

The stats from above are actually quite tame compared to usual. It's quite often using 45 + of my cpu and usually has a higher battery usage than the display.
Can anyone offer a fix. I don't want to delete it as i find dolphin by far the best browser and I've tried most other ones.
Of the battery you have used 33% has been used by the browser .
Battery 50% in just over an hour suggests browser on for that time and other stuff draining the battery .
Better Battery Stats thread and app is where you start .

Yes, I had same issue with Dolphin browser. Lost over 20% juice in less that half hour. Couldn't find any solution though. Just to check used Stock browser for same stuff and didn't have that much drain.
Also, it caused phone heating near camera..is it same for you?

Yes. Never really noticed it before but yeh my phone is roasting around about the camera lens.
JjEgan not really sure I understand what you mean. Are you saying something else is draining my battery? I used to have bbs and that usually identified mobi.geek.tunnybrowser as draing my battery.
I put a fully charged battery into my phone not even 2 hours ago and this is what my stats are now.
Be worth a check with BBS is what i am saying as its not a common problem reported .
Its certainly never drained my battery .
jje
Same here
if we install the Dolphin HD themes " mobi.mgeek.tunnybrowser" will be running as a background process eating up battery , otherwise you will see it as Dolphin Browser HD eating 3% of battery. I dont understand why Dolphin HD browser need to run on background even if we are not using it ?
My phone is doing exactly the same thing if I close dolphin down and use only the stock browser I have no trouble if I leave.dolphin running ie. Just hit home screen or answer a txt or call dolphin will run battery down fastest than a 2 amp charger can charge it as soon as I close dolphin usually with task manager everything is fine . For me this a new problem and it started after I installed SHOstock v1.3
get rid of dolphin..... the stock browser with lab settings on is awesome.... faster and easier to use... in my opinion
Unfortunately Dolphin is the only browser which supports xmarks and Lastpass...
I switch between PC's and phone and tablet.. would be lost without them..
Matt

Hi,
I had the same issue and it was solved, maybe my solution can help you.
I have Uninstaller pro installed on my galaxy sii and thanks to it, I disabled some system services (like application update, email, fotaclient, google services) because I thought they were useless.
Yesterday I unfreezed them all and now dolphin works perfectly, it never exceeds 13%, before it went up to 35%..

I am on stock ICS on my S2 and downloaded Google Chrome yesterday. Everything about it worked perfectly until I started trying to type text in, at which point several nasty bugs revealed themselves. Initially I suspected it was a bug with Swiftkey (I found this page highlighting the bug on their support forums). However I then experienced a similarly horrible typing experience when using the stock keyboard, although instead of repeating characters, it would simply refuse to insert any characters or backspace properly, eventually causing the entire browser to hang. When I briefly tested Swype, it allowed me to type normally until I changed focus from the text box, at which point Chrome hanged again.
This has lead me to suspect it's a Chrome problem rather than a problem with the keyboards, since I've not experienced any problems with any other apps recently. But when I started googling for answers, I could only find very few places that reported similar experiences to mine, including the Swiftkey link I referenced earlier. Even more peculiar was that I found a thread here on XDA where people with S2's had reported both Chrome and Swiftkey on their favourite apps for the S2 without mentioning any bugs. It seems extremely strange to me that such a gamebreaking bug such as this would not receive more attention.
So now I'm wondering if it's a problem with stock ICS (I'll mention that I'm not even rooted at this point). Does anyone else have any similar experiences? Can anyone report using both Chrome and various keyboards without any of the bugs I'm experiencing? Does anyone have any ideas to how I can fix this?
Thanks for your time.
I'm having the exact same issue. I just recently flashed stock ICS from GB. I downloaded chrome and everything went good until I started to type. Everytime I attempted to type it crashed, hung, whatever you want to call it. It was rendered unusable I've been cruising for possible fixes since I love chrome with no success.
Huh, thought I was the only one.
Chrome is still very convenient for me, but this is a problem consistent over many different roms and it rather annoys me.
I don't think this has anything to do with swift key. I use Swype and have the exact same problem. I also filled a crash report about it. I hope it'll get fixed soon.

Same issue here regardless of keyboard selected.

ditto
Having the same issue ever since i installed Chrome in my GT-I9100
Had this issue with multiple keyboards (currently perfect keyboard free)
But it doesn't happen every time for me, on daily use it happens a couple of times a day.
running ICS 4.0.4 but saw it in older versions too

I experienced the same problems. Tried different keyboards and different ROMs like Resurrection Remix or Paranoid Android. Haß anyone heard of these problems on other devices? Because on my Nexus 7 Chrome is running fine.

I have exactly the same issue and tried with multiple ROMs too. I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up more as an issue.
Also here - the same problem with Chrome - tried Keymonk and Swift on CM10.1 (Android 4.2.1)
Now I am using the default browser from CM10.1 - works fine
cough..chromedoesntsupportflash...cough
There must be something that can be done about this...!! It's the most frustrating bug of all time, I think. I can enter a text box on a forum and it will crash. Reopen, try again, crash. Reopen, try again, fine! What. The. Hell.
A shame because Chrome is nice and fast and the sync options are lovely. My only gripe is it doesn't have a proper fullscreen mode. Flash is overrated
