I wont even get started on the SG3 vs E4GLTE debate. Played with both for an extnsive period of time and it will honestly come to flipping a coin. Not a fan boy of either. Not starting a flame war.
Two questions:
1-Does the SG3 have the HD voice feature?
I ask because if it has the sound quality of an IP phone to IP phone. Wow....I mean these are phones first and foremost(am i right?)
2-Can you snap photos while recording video?
Not a deal breaker but still a "nifty" feature.

yes you can snap photos when taking video...not too sure about HD Voice tho. I haven't noticed anything.

The HD Voice feature is one of those "it will come when LTE is here" things.
I don't think it has HD Voice... not that you'd be able to use it frequently anyways, as it requires both phones to be HD Voice compatible.

You are correct. For me it is more of a "future proof" feature. Kind of like how I see the 2 gigs of RAM on the GS3

How do you get it to take the still pic. I've tried a bunch of things with no luck. The Galaxy Nexus it was just click the screen but definitely not working for me on this unit.
It should have a camera button beside record/stop on the screen. You just use that while recording

I read on another thread that you need to have image stabilization off for video to be able to take stills. It's a great feature. A little camera button pops up right above the recording button on the screen.

Very nice improvement over my EVO 4G.
The only negative is the fact I have to deal with the forced password from my IT policy again since I don't see any work arounds yet.
There is a reason for the forced password from your IT department if you want their exchange network to be open on your phone. Getting around it is just undermining the security your IT guys are trying to provide for their network.

No HDMI cable yet.
Call quality seems fine. I don't use the phone much but I just called my dad and he said I sounded fine. He was in the bathroom taking a dump so a little bit of an echo on his end......for obvious reasons.

So far I really like it. Coming from the EVO 4G it isn't a 'huge' change so a lot of things are normal. It isn't like coming from a Blackberry. Love the sense 3.0.
Screen is really nice. Side by side with the EVO 4G you can really see the improvement. I'm not a big fan of the 3D because it messes with my eyes. It is cool...but not worth the headache for me.
Because of the higher resolution screen, the keyboard I normaly use (SmartKeyboard Pro) is stretched a little in landscaping and seems a little too small in portrait. I'll have to try a bunch of other ones. I wasn't too thrilled with the stock keyboard at first but I'll give it a few days.

There is nothing that is harmful to the company in my email or on my phone. Plus I run Lookout on my phone. If it goes missing, I log on and lock the phone. If I can't find it I do a remote wipe. My phone is by my side 24/7 so I know when it is missing within minutes.
The password just ruins the Sense experience. No point of having shortcuts on the lock screen when you have to type in a password.

I've been running a Sense 3.0 ROM on my EVO for weeks, and I have a passcode -- I would even if my employer didn't require it. The lockscreen is still extremely useful with a passcode. Sure, it's not immediate access, but it still decreases the amount of navigation to get to common tasks.

Call quality was good enough for me. I have never expected crystal clear calling from a cell phone. I think that expectation was set back in the days of older networks and crap phones. I can hear who I was talking to, there was no distortion, and nobody was complaining about how I sounded.
I will set it up on my Ford Sync system in my car today and test it then too.
Loving mine so far. 3D pics are uber cool, the 3D Video equally cool, can't wait to hook it up to the TV.
Only complaint - No flashlight app. Haven't tried any market ones yet though.

and partially because in portrait the 3D is skinnier than the evo 4g
and in landscape its a bit wider then the 4g
(im talking physical screen lenght not pixels)
Anyone tried to get Green Hornet to play? Mine keeps trying to download some license and then fails.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion just don't try to shove it down anyone's throat just because you believe its a 'bad' thing. Personally, I use Enhanced Email which allows to bypass the security PIN.

It tough to say if there is a decent app out that can do that. Usually those apps only work well if you have them on speaker phone because the phones hardware is set up to not be able to record the other party directly, just what is coming out of your microphone.
One way to test is use the built in sound recorder app in the middle of a call. It does the exact same stuff as the call recorders.
Only way is using mic to record. Otherwise you need kernel support to record a phone call directly in android.

I'm not sure that it entirely correct, I'm pretty sure it is a hardware limitation that they put there for that reason, i could be completely wrong tho

BS, I wish there was an app that did this to all my calls automatically lol, that uploads remotely. (it'd be awesome as a future Google Voice feature)

at least a couple of times a week i will either answer a call or as soon as the person i am calling answers, a voice will say, "this call is now being recorded".
what the hell is up with that? its done it since i got the phone.

Either you or the other party has Google Voice & they pressed #4 on the dialer.
It makes that announcement (awkwardly loud) for legal purposes, since in some states/cities it's either: illegal to record without consent, at all or simply illegal to not inform them of the recording taking place.

And if you allow the permissions to mess with phone calls that is you being informed and agree to it, as seen when you download almost any app, just keep an eye out for the ones that say anything to do with phone calls,

Reviews of phones in my opinion need at least a month of the phone being used.
People that post "reviews" a couple days after release are merely a "hands-on" video of the phone.

I meant places like engadget or mobile tech review. Surely they have had the phones for a week. I trust them to give me objective information. They can do that spending a few days or a week with a phone.

The portrait to landscape (vice versa) transitions?
Agreed to an extent. On my Nexus S running ICS the transition delay was 200ms and was changeable to up to 10ms.
I found that having a quick auto rotation could be sometimes frustrating because the screen would rotate when I didn't want it to, like when I put the phone down on the table.

It has NFC but my understanding is that it's not currently enabled in the stock software. Presumably this is a difficulty a custom ROM or kernel maker could rectify.

I've had it running since yesterday and very often when I try to unlock the phone it'll try to use the camera but all i get is a black screen then it reverts to the alternate pass code.. this'll happen maybe... every third time? i suppose it may have to do with the camera process running in the background...
anyone else sharing my pain?
I use it but I haven't got a black screen from the camera...
I've been using it since I got the phone and I've only had that happen 3 or 4 times seemingly when I had a lot of stuff already running.

Ok I am getting it too...Maybe one out of ten face unlocks will be just a black screen instead of the camera working.

Lighting has to be somewhat decent, this feature doesn't seem to work in low light. I recommend you all use the 'Improve face matching' feature in different types of ambient light.
Mine unlocks very fast, quicker than I could type my PIN, if the lighting is decent.

Works flawless on my phone, but as a note:
I don't like it, its unsecured. In days where Facebook is famous, anyone with a good picture of you can unlock your phone, even by holding a picture of you they got in their phone close to your phone...

Too bad there isn't a way to combine security features, for example, have face unlock plus PIN or pattern. Might get annoying in practical use though.

Lucky for me, I'm not famous. Anyone likely to have my picture would also likely return the phone to me.
Since I haven't bothered with using a screen lock in the past, maybe I'll try it.

Under improve face matching, you can have more than one picture to improve recognition, I took one with sunglasses on and one with out and it works.

Also, try it under different types of lighting and backgrounds. I've been surprised sometimes when I've been in less than ideal lighting, it still recognizes me.
Of course, I haven't tested with someone else's face.

I don't do videos so I can't say, but the factor about the light bleed, some get used to it like I did since it's only noticeable on dark backgrounds, you can always shut it off and some people never had it at all, surprisingly, maybe you'll be one of those.
