Hi, I am debating on buying the international galaxy s3 or T-mobile's galaxy s3 (the dual-core model). Since I am from the US, would I be able to use T-mobile's 4g if i bought the international version?
No. Hardware differences.
This has been asked countless times before.

If you live in some parts of California or the east coast that have 1900mhz 3G it will work. But that only covers like ten cities max. It would be 2G everywhere else.
Also T-Mobile doesn't have 4G.

Hey!
No its not international I'm leaving in UAE and I'm using Du cariouer and its not supporting 4g so it depends on the operator

i have a cellphone repair store and am addicted to new cellphones and trying them out. i currently have the i9300 and love it, but am wondering if there would be anyway to hack it to receive 3g/4g T-Mobile USA. I have switched over back to T-Mobile because they have the best speed for money and coverage ratio where i live. I also have the galaxy note sgh i717 and have it rooted and running ics with the blaze radio hack and it works beautifully on T-Mobile. So what im asking is, will there be a way to flash a radio the same way it was done on the note for the i9300? i really like the way my phone is and prefer the quad core over the dual core that will be coming out here in the us. I don't want to have to sell my international i9300 to get the USA T-Mobile version just so i can have working 3g/4g. Im Hoping for a answer yes you can flash a radio and someone can try to do it. I wish i had more time to play around with these things and be more knowledgable about what im saying, but with my job and two kids i try to learn as much as possible.
Nope. The hardware for the international version doesn't support LTE. Unless you're a superDev and manage mod the system on a chip support it, you'll have to use the US version to get 4G.
It's only the the main reason that the US version isn't getting the quad core. Not that the S4 + 2Gb of memory isn't just as good if not better than the exynos.

What about the hspa+ or even 3g on T-Mobile. I can't see the note that has the same bands as the i9300 being able to do that why not the i9300?? I guess maybe I'm missing something?? Cause the only thing missing is the 1700 band. From both phones and they added it to the att note somehow

He's not asking about LTE, he's asking about getting T-Mobile 3G. I'd like to know if this is possible as well....

No.
The AT&T Note has an SoC that has the 1700mhz band. It is the same SoC that is in the T-Mobile SGSII.
The international Note has the same SoC as the i9100 and i9300 and it does NOT have the 1700mhz band, and it never will.
The only way is when tmo start reusing the 1900 frequency for 3g later this year.
Apparently they are trying it out in some places already.

I really hope they go widespread with it because I was in America two months ago and tmo was better than at&t for pricing etc. And I'll likely be going back again and wanna use my phone there on tmo preferably.

Haha yeah it is much better. I have been using mine on T-Mobile and 2G isn't the worst thing in the world, especially when I'm around wifi all day long at school and home, and you can't even get the T-Mobile versions anywhere here.

here is an interesting link showing these 1900 locations coming up http://www.airportal.de/
I don't think there is any hack or mods, just have to wait for T-Mobile to expand their 1900mhz coverage.
Luckily, I'm in the area where T-Mobile offers 1900mhz coverage and I can connect to hspa+ on my i9300. It's so much faster than what I'm used to when I was on AT&T. I was only getting 0.5-1.5mbps on AT&T but now 5-6mbps on T-Mobile. When I'm in area that lacks coverage, I do get only EDGE though which is pretty darn slow

Unlimited 4G plan with no cap or throttle.
I'm probably going to switch i9300 to new tmobile branded note 2 or S3 though. There is no coverage of 1900mhz when I'm around home area. Using EDGE is so painful...

Yeah.. I'm using the 200 Mb data plan with my i9300. Since we only getting edge for now , it is a waste of paying 25 dollars a month for 4g if we can't use the speed.. I'm in New York Brooklyn , and still can't get any 3g signals...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
is the fastest i9300 can go on. Tmobile
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk 4
Brooklyn new york here . in nyc ATT is the fastest for mobile data no question about it. I get an average of 6 mbit/s . some times up to 11 mbit/s I tried t mobile and the best i got was edge. under 100 kbit/s could barely make calls. I dont know about other cities or regions but in nyc ATT is king even though they suck .
You'll never get more than 2G. Unless you're in one of the new areas where they have out their new towers. You'll get 2G most of the time... There isn't a "hack" and there never will be... Its a hardware limitation.

Just curious, I have the international and I am on T-mobile in the U.S.
Will the I international ever be able to attain 4G Speeds on T-mobiles network? For instance once quad cores become the norm in phones (like they are on the verge of doing).
Or would I be better off selling and getting a T-mobile g3?
Thanks in advance.

Ok. 3g would be great. For the most part that is what is in most areas anyway. I just wasn't sure if it was our phone that didn't have the right radios or if it was T-mobile/other carriers that didn't have the right modems for our exynos.

International S3 does not have 4G chip in it
The max network speed that could be available with an international S3 is 21Mbps HSPA+

And is this based off of what's available now or what will be available in a year?

Dear guys I bought my s3 from the middle east now I live in New York and with t mobile I only get edge on my data connection. I searched the web and xda but couldn't find a useful solution pleas help me with what is possible to do. if I rooted wich radio and Rom would work.
Thank u all already.

EDGE is the best you'll be able to get with T-Mobile. Your international GS3 doesn't have the 1700MHz band needed for T-Mobile 4G.
Your options are to live with it, switch providers and go with AT&T or sell your GS3 and buy the T-Mobile version.
Bellow is a screen shot from wiki pediatrician for gt-i9300 base bands it includes all almost there must be a work arriund to get 4g

I would say wait few more months t-mobile already started rolling out H+ for 1900. So in few months we will be able to use high speed data

where did you hear that?
Sell it and get the t-mo gs3 version, you'll need 1700 mhz umts to be able to get the 3g (fake 4g) on t-mo. And this is hardware is no root or magic to change it!

Hi all,
I have one query. I am planning to buy an unlocked Samsung galaxy S2 Skyrocket 4G LTE phone from USA. And i plan to use it in Europe.
Will it work? As in Europe as of now I am not sure if all carriers are using 4G. i am on O2 in germany.
please do reply. thanks.
Best.

You're in the wrong forum, but since this is a pretty generic question, I'll answer it. Yes, the phone should work fine as long as it is unlocked. There is no guarantee you will get 4g or HSDPA coverage, that would depend on the carrier and the band frequency they use. If 3g or 4g matters to you, I suggest you find out what band frequencies your carrier uses and compare that with what the i727 skyrocket supports.
The slow rockets are coming again! run for cover!
The wall served a purpose and should be restored.

Ok, so I had to sell my i9305 because of lack of any data connection above 2G/Edge on AT&T for my area due to frequencies that they use here.
How many people in the USA are using an unlocked international i9300 on AT&T and getting 3G+ data??

Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
It works and you get hspa+
I'm on AT&T as well with the i9300 that I won from Engadget.com and it works just fine. H+ all the way for me as well.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the responses. I spent 700 beans on an i9305 to find out it didnt work. Just wanted to see if the i9300 worked. One more question, Do you guys have the LTE versions or the non-LTE?
Firstly, GT-I9300 supports 1900MHz for sure but 1900MHz WCDMA support on GT-I9305 is based on different region. For example your GT-I9305 has no 1900MHz 3G but the GT-I9305 sold in Hong Kong supports 1900MHz WCDMA.
Secondly, it is quite meaningless to buy LTE phone outside and use it in the US because only Bell and Rogers Wireless support LTE 2600MHz, you will not be able to use LTE network on AT&T.
You may use the any Korean LTE version(SHV-E210S/SHV-E210K/SHV-E210L) because the all supports 1900MHz WCDMA. Or otherwise, you may use the AT&T model of Galaxy S3.
I am using SHV-E210S, there is no SIM lock on the phone.

Thanks for the info, though I had an i9305 Hong Kong version and it did Not get 3G or 1900MHz, I could not even select it. I was hoping the 9300 would be different.
