Anyone noticed you cant toggle between 3G and 4G?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
Yeah there isn't one but you can switch it using an app called phone info. And switch it to CDMA auto (PRL) that's if you only want 3g

to get 4G back follow those same directions except choose whatever it was before choosing "CDMA auto PRL", should be something along the lines of "LTE/CDMA/EvDo" and your back to 4G.

was wondering if this could be possible cause i was reading the forums and found someone that did it by flashing the ap to the verizon razr if you could help me out that would be great thanks
It's not possible. Verizon uses CDMA, EVDO and LTE. AT&T uses GSM and UMTS. Completely different technologies. However, if you can get an XT910, a GSM version of the RAZR, you can use it on AT&T (this is what I have).

im actually looking into this because my cousin has just left Verizon for att and it is possible they use sim cards and people have reported it working im not sure on many details of it yet but its out there just google "verizon droid razr on at&t"
look here http://blog.laptopmag.com/ics-world-phone-capabilities-come-to-verizons-droid-razr-and-razr-maxx
You cannot do that after the ICS update. With ICS, you can roam onto global GSM networks but many people have reported that you cannot change the default network from Verizon.
From everything I've heard the xt912 has the appropriate radios to connect with at&t cell towers but the usage of this feature is being blocked by vzw. Now I don't know if a custom rom like cm9 would allow for this or not.

I believe the open is talking about using an at&t sim card on an at&t plan, not just roaming on their bandwidth

There are people working on it but it's not yet possible.
RAZR on AT&T network
Yes it is possible. I did it. The only thing is that I only use the phone for calls and texts and WiFi for data. In the bionic forum, they tell you to download Radiocomm. I did not do that. AlI did was just change the setting to gsm/utms network and placed the AT&T sim card and waited for 15-30 minutes for the phone to connect
Btw, I'm on ics.

Question for the CDMA Verizon Wireless RAZR/Maxx
I side loaded the 211 ICS build just yesterday. Can anyone confirm if the official ota release to public today is the same build as 211? Or did they change anything?
And also does anybody know how to change to the 3G cdma only option? I've tried a few apps at the play store. While they did let me select a cdma only option, it wasn't showing as 3G but showing 1x?

It's the exact same release. Use the Phone Info app from Google Play to set it to CDMA only.

Yep. After it boots up again it just goes back to 4G LTE. Does the phone info app work for you?

After changing it to cdma only in the app do you do anything else or just back out the app? Walk me through exactly what you did to just be on 3G.

Instructions: 1. Open the dialer and type *#*#4636#*#* 2. A menu will appear – choose “Phone information.” 3. Scroll down until you see the pulldown menu for “LTE/CDMA/EvDo/etc.” 4. Tap on that menu and choose “CDMA Auto (PRL).” 4. Hit the back button to get out of these menus and to your home screen. 5. Wait 20-30 seconds and watch your 4G LTE logo turn to 3G. 6. To confirm you are on 3G only, head into System Settings and tap on the “More…” button. 7. Tap “Mobile Networks” and “Network type and strength” to see something like this: 8. Enjoy longer battery life.

I didn't do step 1 but i used the phone info app. I set it to what you said "CDMA AUTO (PRL). Now I'm on 3G!! Thanks man! Before I just selected "CDMA Only" and that gave me the 1x.
My main reason for wanting just 3G was my cap data plan. I don't have Internet at home and being on 4G LTE kills data faster. Not too concerned about my battery life, I have a RAZR Maxx lol but 3G does make it better and my 3G speeds are not bad at all. Thanks again! Really appreciate it!

I hear that, coming from a inc2, the RAZR is totally different. With inc2 unlocked bootloafer s-off was alot easier for flashing/modification of software. This is first locked down phone and im always looking for solution to something. Glad i could help

Verizon's 3G uses the same radio as voice so you can't talk and surf/download/netflix at the same time.
4G allows you to do both.
(just a reminder)
I've been trying to set up my Razr as a mobile hot spot for my kids nook when we are on the road. Ive tried different tethering apps and none seem to work on my Razr. Let me refrase that, they work but no networks show up when I try to connect to them with any device. I used barnacle wifi tether with my droid x so thats what I was inclining to use. On my Razr the app starts, but it gives me errors. Can someone tell what I can try or another app I can use.
Ive attached a screenshot.
By the way im on verizon, stock ICS and rooted.
Have you tried FoxFi?

Try the APN Type trick first.Easy and no rooting beeded.

Yeah use FoxFi...SOOO easy
The only thing I don't like about FoxFi is the inability to keep it from croaking when something is connected to it. I am walking around with my phone making frog sounds. LOL
I tried foxfi at home and it gave me an error, tried it on my way to work and it turned on but I had nothing in my car to test it with. I guess I was Wi-Fi connected at home and that's why it showed an error..

LOL. Wifi Teether
Just use the in phone wifi tether since your rooted. The method is posted on the first page. It's better then foxfi and any third party wifi tether

Thanks for the tips, I tried foxfi. I did like 3 speed test with my touchpad. Then tried YouTube..that never opened..save thing with the browser..I'll give the other method a try.

Can anyone attest to their 4g signal after the JB OTA? I'm in LaGuardia right now (Not my home town) and I keep fluxing between 4g and 3g.
I'm curious if it's the airport or just the new radio.

Talking about the ota jb. Leak was OK on signal. Ota seems to drop 4g a lot!

Official OTA radio is leagues worse than the leak.
I constantly drop data connectivity and wifi all the time. it is horrible. I want to go back to the leak.
I got the same but I found that it because of wrong APN. I have to APNs with same name - Verizon Internet. First one uses eHRDP bearer but second one - LTE. Right one APN is second one (LTE bearer). You can change it via Settings->More->Mobile networks->Access Point Names . But sometimes it resets to first one and I don't know why.

You may be on to something. I changed mine to second option and have not lost 4g yet.
Why they have vzwinternet twice is beyond me.
I also changed to lte/cdma instead of global.

Get VZ to send you a new sim card. The sim card is where the 4g lte is at. I had this issue about a year ago. VZ sent me new sim but that did not help although it does majority of the time. Anyways, I have coverage (insurance) but did not matter cause moto said my razr xt912 was defective so they sent me a new REfub which solved issue to date.

I had a similar experience/issue on my phone a few months ago. In my case, I wasn't able to use 3G or 4G LTE. It took more than just a factory reset to get my phone back up and running again. What resolved it was Matt's Utility. Depending on which option you select within his utility, there is one (possibly more) option that not only wipes all system and used data, it also flashes the stock radios as well. I feel your pain buddy. Let know if I can help.
