[Q] No Usb, No Rom, ClockworkMod Recovery - HTC EVO 3D

Here's the full story:
I flashed TWRP recovery, flashed MikVirgin.
Next I flashed Viperrom.
I flashed ClockworkMod Touch recovery.
I tried to flash MikVirgin again but it failed.
I did a backup the first time I flashed with TWRP.
So, with no rom, no usb, and only ClockworkMod recovery (which fails when trying to flash either of the two roms mentioned above), is there anyway to get a rom on my phone or flash twrp back to the phone? twrp is currently on my SD card
Hope you can help,
Ryan

download the same version of TWRP that you had and install the image through your hboot by taking that image and package it into a zip file and name that zip file PG86IMG.zip, copy to your sd card, boot to your hboot and let install from there and then reboot into that recovery and then restore...post back if you need help...

How can I get the Zip file to my SD card without being able to mount my SD to my computer? Unless you know a way to get CWM to allow me to mount. Right now it's giving me an error "Unable to open ums lunfile (no such file or directory)". I know I can get the adapter to directly plug the card into my laptop but is there another way? I have a Windows phone that I could put the SD card in to mount to it if that will work.

You could push the recovery through fastboot. I forget the exact command, I think it's fastboot recovery recovery.img. Find the twrp website and download the img file you need. The site also has directions on how to flash it without copying to sd card first.

Speed Rom 3.1.0 help!!

I was on S-off leaked RUU ICS running fine, I downloaded the latest speed rom and it gave me this error while trying to flash
Formatting partitions
(system is unmounted already)
E: Error in /sdcard/Speed Rom ICS 3.1.0.zip
(Status 1)
Installation aborted.
I downloaded it again and got the same error.
When i tried a third time i was no longer able to get into CWM.
I tried flashing CWM again using the all in one tool which pushed it fine but it still does not load CWM, I tried pushing 4ext and TWRP with the same results. 4ext was able to get to a screen where it said 4ext is loading 3..2..1.. but then back to the white HTC screen
is there a way i can push the RUU leak file via ADB so i can flash that again using the built in recovery?
Thanks,

Download the ICS leak again, rename it to PH85IMG.zip, put it on your microSD card, boot into bootloader (vol down + power), let it do its thing
Also, may I recommend the 4ext recovery?

I have no idea. Sorry.
The command should be...(put the PH85IMG.zip in your tools folder first)
Code:
adb push PH85IMG.zip /sdcard2/PH85IMG.zip
If sdcard2 doesn't work try sdext or sd_ext
Don't quote me on this...

I tried that way too later on. It gave me permission denied. I think because my rom was gone debugging was no longer enabled and write permissions to the SD card were gone. I was able to get back up and running by using a card reader.
Thanks everyone

I wish I read this earlier...exact same thing happened to me! I'm s-on however , but just unlocked my boot loader to flash this rom.
Now I have to re-lock bootloader and load the stock rom again...so much work for literally no benefit. Disappointed!

Need help...(yea, another newb)

Ok, I was trying to flash the newest ICS leak and being the newb I am, its borked.
Right now I have an unlocked bootloader with H-Boot 2.11.0000
I have a blank SD card and I just need to know what files to copy to it and what steps to get back to stock or possibly getting the 5/8 ROM leak installed
I'm assuming your s-on still, follow the directions in the OP to install.
Installation for S-ON Devices on Gingerbread firmware
* Copy ROM to SD Card AND PH98IMG.zip AND GB Firmware Patch to ROOT of SD Card
* Reboot to recovery
* wipe data / Factory Reset
* Flash ROM
* Flash GB Fimrware Patch
* Use Developer Menu to reboot to bootloader and flash the boot.img file in the PH98IMG.zip
* Reboot
* Profit!
How exactly do you FLASH the rom without renaming it?

I can't get past the bolded parts... How do you flash with those files on the SD card, everytime I return to the bootloaded it just runs the PH98IMG file and updates.... from there I'm stumped.

Take out your sd card, then go to recovery, wipe. Pop your battery out put your sd card back in, then continue.

1) Easiest thing for you is to turn USB Debugging on in Settings (Apps > Development), hook up to PC, and use the Hasoon2000 Noob-proof toolkit to reboot directly to recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22696442
2)Many Custom ROMs have Reboot to Recovery in the power button menu
3)Ninja grab the battery at an angle and slide SD Card out, go to recovery, and slide in while mainitaining power connection. (Not ah, recommended but good in a bind)

You need to first flash a custom recovery and then select that option (AmonRa 3.15 recommended, CWM is buggy on charging battery). That Hasoon2000 kit in last post can do that for you too if you don't have AmonRa installed.

That seems to be the biggest issue, can I flash a recovery without being able to boot my phone up... I only have access to the bootloader.
All the instructions fail to mention the requirement for the recovery app... That was the newb boo-boo.
I think there is a zip somewhere, but it's easier with adb.
fastboot flash recovery (name of recovery).img
I recommend S-Off. It makes all of this super easy. I promise its really not that hard. The wire trick looks worse than it is.
Edit: fixed. I'm retarded in the morning.

Yeah, manually you can flash a custom recovery via the same method, a PH98IMG.zip from bootloader. You delete the existing PH98IMG file and replace with one containing AmonRa (what exactly is that zip, do you need it still?)
But, adb fastboot commands when hooked up to PC can flash the recovery directly to memory from an img file. Just need USB Debugging turned on in the Settings on a regular boot to the ROM.
Sooo just use the toolkit on a PC to eliminate hassle if ya can lol. It uses that second paragraph's method. Just need to click an option and it runs the script. Now ya know both ways.
Oh, link in earlier post from my XDA app is not working :/ here is the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22696442
I guess until I find the zip and instructions I have a brick.

USB debugging in my PC? I can't access Android OS. I'm 100% limited to the bootloader with NO recovery tool.

Ah, I meant the ROM, but not even the ROM boots because of bad flash. No worries. Don't need to be in the ROM anyway, toolkit works in the bootloader.
1) Ensure drivers for phone are properly installed on PC. (Google and download HTC Sync if unsure.)
2) Download and extract toolkit. Run the All In One exe file. The GUI comes up with your options.
3) With phone off, remove SD Card.
4) Boot into bootloader. Select Fastboot option.
5) Connect to PC via USB.
6) Select AmonRa from toolkit options and install.
7) Power down phone, disconnect and insert SD Card.
8) Connect phone, power it up and select Reboot to Recovery on the toolkit.
From recovery, you can enable USB mass storage option for memory and download/transfer files you need from your PC, delete the PH98IMG.zip, etc.

Several user reports in the forum say ClockworkMod (CWM) has an issue with charging our batteries when the drain gets low. Risk not being able to charge phone at all and brick that way. AmonRa or TWRP from the Development section are still recommended for this particular phone for now.
Hope you get sorted out on the ROM
Sounds like you're getting instructions to do more than you asked.
Go to post three on the following page and scroll down to "Latest leak and installation instructions".
Make sure it flashes twice. I just did this procedure this afternoon without any trouble.

I got the ROM up and running.... Updating my backup settings... Next step will be to replace clockwork and flash a recovery image... Gotta figure that all out now.
Is it possible to flash AMON recovery over CWM?

Yes, just install the new recovery normally, will be okay.
I guess I did end up installing AMON recovery, I just checked. Creating Nandroid right now....
Does a Nandroid basically recover EVERYTHING?

[Q] Maybe Bad kernel and or system image and recovery ?

I was flashing Viper ROM and something must have failed because now i boot straight in to the boot loader screen. Recovery of my backups just boot back to the boot loader screen after it completes and i reboot. What steps should I take to restore my system?
Maybe an ruu, if you can't get the nandroids to restore maybe a partition got messed up. This is a new one for me
Did u try flashing a different rom also? Maybe ur ad card got corrupt and ur nandroids and rom are corrupt.
What recovery u on? Are you soff?
Could be missing kernel, I heard a rumor that there is a s-on flashable zip for the kernel, awesomesauce I think uses it. Not sure though if ur s-on that might be a good option.
Fasboot flash the kernel
Open Rom zip and extract boot.img, place it in adb or SDK folder and connect phone, open command window in folder (shift+right click, open command window here) type fastboot flash boot boot.img

thanks that fixed the mounting of the internal storage. Im trying the fastboot now
Fast boot fixed the problem thanks again

sdcard mount problem, recovery problem

fairly new to rooting, so sorry if the fix is simple (hoping it is). i have a evo 4g lte, rooted it, been having issues flashing cm10, so i would reflash a previously saved working rom, no problems. i have been using twrp for recovery. so i switched to cwmr (HUGE MISTAKE)to try and see if that would somehow fix why everytime i was flashing cm10 my phone would never load past the loading screen ( android in middle of revolving circle). basically my problem is, in recovery i cant mount ext-sd or the internal sd, i can "see" my saved backups, but cant flash them, when i try it says" no files found" i played with things for a while, somehow got some old downloaded cm10 version to work, so i atleast have a working phone, but cant mount my sdcard under storage which i need done to flash twrp back into my phone. ive been reading on how to use termianl emulator to mount sd card, but cant figuer that out, any help would be muchly appreciated, sorry for long description of my issue, i just want to be able to flash twrp, reboot into recovery and restore back to a previously working rom!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
also... cm update is constantly running, cant stop it, my pc doesnt recognize my phone, cant mount in recovery or in settings. tried copy and pasting the saved zip files using a root browser app to relocate them and trying to reboot into recovery and flashing them, that does work... please help!!!!
If you can get into terminal emulator, then just flash twrp using that. The directions are on their website.

too late, i kept playing around with everything in recovery mode, and apprently made things worse, now the phone will recognize my ext sd and not the internal sd, which is what u need to use terminal emulator to reflash twrp, any other suggestions???
You can update recovery image through fastboot or place the twrp update zip (rename PJ75IMG.zip) on external and boot to bootloader. As for internal being corrupt, boot into twrp and mount as USB storage and format through pc

[Q] hopefully i didn't completely ruin my phone

i downloaded [ROM][11.18.2012] Newts OnE XxX RLS 6.0.2 *Global*[Sense 4.1], pulled the boot.img out of the zip and put it in my folder with fastboot, put them on my sd card (although i may not have put the boot.img on my phone), flashed cleanwipe.zip (or w/e it's called), flashed rom, tried to flash boot.img from my computer but after putting in the fastboot flash boot boot.img command it just sat there saying "waiting for device." i couldn't get back to the bootloader from clockword mod recovery so i pulled/replaced the battery and power+vol down, bootloader came up but before i could do anything i get this:
HBOOT
Parsing...(SD ZIP)
[1] BOOT
Do you want to start update?
<vol up> yes
<vol down> no
if i go up it says it updates, and even if i decline it doesn't go back to bootloader, it just tells me to hit power to resart the phone. so i restart, and get stuck in a bootloop of the new mikroms loading animation. i can't seem to get to the bootloader to load recovery. i'm not sure what i did wrong, and i hope someone can please help?
You have something on your SD Card that the bootloader is trying to load, you're gonna need to put the SD Card in a reader and delete it first or boot the phone up with the SD Card out so you can at least fastboot the kernel in.

i'm not sure how to do that. i thought i knew how to use fastboot from my computer but i can't even remember where i learned how to do it. but you were right, i pulled out the sd card and it went to bootloader. i just don't know what to do from here, i guess i need a ph98img.zip to put on my internal storage?
1.You need to delete the zip on the external SD card.
2.Wipe your phone(like you normally would when flashing a rom )
3.flash the ROM
4.flash s-on stock zip
5.flash the flashable boot image zip you can use to flash the boot.IMG for the ROM.
Head over to the mikmik you can find everything you need their under newts section.

Put the boot.img on your PC, boot to bootloader/fastboot, run in the command prompt - "fastboot flash boot boot.img" without the quotes. If boot.img is not in the same folder as fastboot.exe, add to path to it, ex. fastboot flash boot c:\path\to\boot.img.
