Ok I have the same problem like the person in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483066&page=4
But because noone answerded I opened a new thread.
Currentyly I’m using:
WebOS 3.0.5
CM9 and the Nightly from 17.05.2012
My Touchpad restores all data after it reboots, also I can’t copy anything on it.
So for example if I uninstall an application (no matter in WebOS or CM9), the uninstalled application appears again after I rebooted it. Same Problem with Pictures, Movies, MP3s.
I can’t restore a backup in Clockworkmod (always there comes a error with restoring boot).
Also factory reset in Clockworkmod or in WebOS doesn’t work. Also when I reboot the data is restored.
WebOS doctor stucks at 12% and the command “dosfsck -r /dev/mapper/store-media“ in Novaterm doesn’t work.
I already used WebOS Doctor 3.0.0 but it also doesn’t worked.
So I have the same Problem like in the following thread:So after nothing helped me I sent my Touchpad to HP because there were also cracks in the case, but they didn’t accepted it because android is installed.
So my problem is I can’t uninstall CM9.
I Known that probably its an hardware fault and that no solution, BUT
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today I tried to uninstall Android again via ACMEUninstaller. but at the end I read the first time the error.( I will upload the Picture later)
So there was written this link:
http://www.gnu.org/software/parted/parted.html
and here is an Instruction how to use the programm:
http://www.gnu.org/software/parted/manual/parted.pdf
Can someone handle GNU Parted?
I'm a real linux newbie and hope someone could help me!
Thanks!
P.s I have a second thread at Rootzwiki
You say you used the webOS Doctor for 3.0.0. Is that what version of webOS you are on? I think the latest version is 3.0.5 or something like that. You should use the latest Doctor version.

This guide worked for me:

Ok. Well it has to be something with your setup. Its really hard to brick these devices since the webOS doctor usually fixes everything. What OS are you running on your computer? Windows? Linux? Did you download all the novacom drivers? Have you used the webOS Doctor successfully before?

I think what you need to do is make sure and downgrade to 3.0.0 again. You can't just use webos doctor to just flash an older version, you have to follow a guide here on xda. Then, start fresh by installing android. You don't need to change partitions, when you follow the guide it will take care of it.

Based on your description I guessed that somehow your Touchpad's drive had become write protected. Based on that I decided to search around and found two threads which talks about the same issue. One on XDA and one on WebOS Nation.
The funny thing is that soneracar posted on the XDA thread about this write-protected Touchpad issue. It doesn't appear as if there was a solution found on the XDA thread but the WebOS Nation thread concluded with one of the people having the same issue sending it back to HP and getting it back fixed.

I just reset my touchpad. (doctor + on device data wipe). My touchpad used to 14 gb before this now it shows 12gb. Any suggestions?
did you install touchdroid android, or modify the partitions in any way?
also, check your installed apps/preware veifry app space usage
I tried that chroid ipk and thats it thats why I doctered my device because I wouldent let me use uberkernel anymore.
curious...do you know how to use novaterm?
No idea man...
blerg...the big problem i have with webOS doctor is that it doesnt restore the partition table...it doesnt even touch it...so im thinking that either something modified your partition, or you can try to reinstall 3.0.2 again...
if you knew how to use novaterm, we could check the partition tables to see if theyre valid, but if you dont have the sdk/pdk set up, its not worth it to do it if you dont know how to use it
Is there a toutorial I can follow that can help redo my partitons?
i TOTALLY do not recommended doing that! As far as I know, that is the only surefire method to bricking your touchpad if you miss a single character on the command line.
Id say google it, but you might be better off taking the 2gb hit and wait for some partition guides to come available. Most of the advanced nova stuff is on webosinternals.com and the palm SDK site, so you cam start your research there.
Also ask some other 16gb users who can use nova to post the size/locations of their partitions, that way you have a reference point
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
Thanks man... ill try that do you think CM7 will rest the partitions.

highly, unlikely, if anything you will end up with LESS spaace on your webOS partition because CM will need to reallocate partition space for its own use
My Touchpad shows only 12,6 gb too, but it've been that way all along. Other strange thing was that i wasn't able to update from 3.0 to 3.0.2 by OTA, it just showed me "your device is up to date", had to use Doctor. Hope that all those things are just a software hickup, not a damn hardware malfunction.

wow, that is strange... i hope it isnt a hardware defect either...unless webOS 3.x.x takes up 2gb
heres how you can check (make sure you have palm SDK, novaterm and a calculator handy )
-connect TP via usb straight to your pc (no usb hubs!)
-on the TP, either hit cancel or do nothing, do not enter usb mode! you dont need dev mode either.
-load up novaterm
-hit connect
-type "df -h" (without the quotes)
-add up the size totals, and see whatcha got!
if possible, please post results, im curious to see if its hardware or software
I have the same issue.. I will try it out once I get home later today

I've got some problems with novaterm - it shows an error (which could be ignored) after every keypress, it doesn't scroll proper, ant it doesn't allow me to copy/paste. I've made a screensot of the beginning of that long output thing, here
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21304732/unt.png
BTW. i've found that it's quite common: here is the thread of a guy who has 12.6 gigs too http://forums.precentral.net/hp-touchpad/298469-where-my-16gb.html
I also had 12.6 GB free space when I received my TP. But I was able to update it to 3.0.2 via OTA without any problems. Though, the free space was still 12.6 GB after the update.
I have a 32gb only showing 23.5 gb available. It seems to lose 2gb each time I do webos doctor. Hopefully there's someway to reset its partitioning.
I'm only showing 12 Gb as well.
Here's what I show in Novaterm:

Ive read for about 3 days and tried everything. Can someone please make a layman's guide on how to get ubuntu on my atrix so that I could use it on my laptop dock.
I am unlocked, rooted with stock rom but willing to change to any rom.
Are you getting the stock webtop when you connect to your lapdock? You should see a desktop, phone window in the upper left, browser window, and and the AWN dock at the bottom.
All that without any modification.

yes I get the stock webtop, but i want to try out ubuntu because the stock one is too boring
A quick search will find you quite a few methods of modifying either webtop, or maybe even installing debian in a chroot environment.
Start by reading the NOOB guide to modifying webtop at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397583
Webtop is still being understood by many of us, especially how far we can push it before it breaks. I've just downloaded the source and am trying to generate a clean webtop image from it, and down the road seeing if I can create new and updated packages in a repository.

Same with me... frustrating
you can try with kernel from CM7 or CM9

More information about B2G (Boot2Gecko) is available here.
So... I saw this and couldn't resist having a little sneaky play around with it. This is NOT a daily driver. This is NOT stable. It's pre-alpha. If you want something to use as a phone, this isn't it. If you just want to use your phone as a phone, you want this.
With that aside, and with the clear understanding that while this won't brick your phone, it's nothing to do with me if it did for some reason, or likewise if your cat (or other cute pet) suffers a painful death as a result of flashing this. At your own risk, like everything else here on XDA-Developers!
So without further ado, WTF is this? Well, it's a project from Mozilla (the lovely people behind the Firefox browser). I won't go into details, suffice to say I suggest you read a lot over at their wiki - start off at https://wiki.mozilla.org/B2G and work your way through the pages.
Anyway, what is this? Well, it's a TAR to flash via ODIN (codeworkx informs me not to flash userdata partition via heimdall, I suggest you heed that warning, and this tar contains the userdata partition). Within it is a kernel (should have CWM etc), a /system, and a /data. These are not for Android, rather are for booting up this Boot2Gecko operating system. It's Mozilla's attempt at a cloud OS for phones.
Anyhow, if you wanna know how I did it, check out https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Mozilla/Boot_to_Gecko/Building_B2G_for_Samsung_Galaxy_S2
I've prepared a build environment so I can update it when I feel like it (read, when it needs it). So without further ado, your download link (direct link, should be quite fast):
Download Here
Video? See this post
What works?
According to my group of testers (thanks datagutt, and roniez ):
Camera
Audio
Front camera (cannot capture picture)
Video
Wifi (see https://github.com/andreasgal/B2G/blob/master/WIFI.md)
I have no idea if calls work, but I think you'll need to disable your SIM PIN (if you have one) first.
Big props to the developers of this (see https://github.com/andreasgal/B2G for some links and you'll find what's going on)

Let's have a go at this then. Suppose it runs on the same kernel as Android, right? If I were running Siyah for example, B2G would run on Siyah as well?
EDIT: Nevermind, just read the OP, it runs on its own kernel.
Wow now this is something. It works surprisingly well. More of this on XDA Anyhow does anyone know how to connect to WiFi so I can have a better nosey
Looks great could be the next rom i will use
what does not work?

Hello friends of XDA, i'm here to ask you help once again! This time the problem is about a mysteriuos p760 aka LG Optimus L9. The problems in which i came across is the unlocking the bootloader and installing a custom recovery.

I am using Windows 8.1U3 on an Alienware 17.
I'll try to explain as fast and clearly i can:
First i read about this thread and it simply didn't worked (wow totally unexpected thanks to my fortune (Y)).
Then i thought i could easily flash some KDZ with unlocked bootloader and a sparky CWM built in, so i've google a little around and i found this and I then tried to flash the
with this guide but here the fun begun! No matter how i installed drivers, rebooted the system, tried in recovery mode or S/W Mode, the software did not see any phone at all; on the contrary the device manager sees it clearly and install correctly the drivers.
After posting the errors i found an answer a month later in the same thread.
This guys advices to use this tool instead, but as you can guess from me writing here, it did not work.
Then googling again i found this guide where you can install a CWM without even unlocking the bootloader! So, hey, i just need the root!
So let's go finding some way to root this F device (may LG go bankrupt now)! Again i googled "root p760/l9/optimus/plslgdie" and i found few ways none of them working. The Saurik one tells me that there is no bug available to exploit, the Chinese all-in-one rooter seems not having any green button and other script based on adb simply do not find the phone!
Of course i've tried a lot of cables and computers, all of them not working (still i need to try another OS....) and i'm going crazy. Only another device drove me crazy like that (the e610 aka L5 - wow this too was totally unexpcted!) but i finally found a ways to solve.
Please help me to delete every single line of code LG compiled in this device, please!
Up! Halp pls!

would you guys be so kind and help us out? :crying:

ACPI is branded in the bios and on by default as Windows has it under control.
Power, Device, Processor-States etc... all handled by Windows and not like older (very old) bios which had APM
That's why you need another bios if you ever want to dualboot.
I'm pretty sure you can download the BIOS from Lenovo. I couldnt help you install it from Android though. Seems like a very easy way to a bricked device.

You got it. Quite easy to brick it.
I am pretty sure Lenovo burned the BIOS in an EEPROM. Differently between Windows and Android models. Updates are just flashed in a CMOS, well rather NVRAM nowdays. That's why Windows and Android models have completely different approaches when it comes to update the BIOS. I doubt there will ever be a way to flash (supposed) "Windows" settings into a "Android" device, as the EEPROM was initially fixed differently, expecting specific store instructions for the NVRAM depending the OS model.
