for some reason when my phone boots up i get a "blank internal storage" message and when i click on it it says "Format internal storage, erasing all files stored there? Action cannon be reversed!"
It started coming up after i installed the 211 ota manually through recovery. I'm afraid to hit the format option because idk if it will erase something that will screw the phone up. I don't have anything saved on the internal memory since i got into a fastboot failure last night and got everything totally wiped aside from the external SD card. I tried doing a factory reset and cleaning cache but the message still appears. If i go into "my files" and click on internal storage it says "Internal phone storage is Unmounted. Mount Internal phone storage to read files."
How could it be unmounted and how can i re-mount it? If i remember correctly, it has that option in safestrap but i only have the stock recovery right now and it cant do that. So do i need to install safestrap and give it a shot?
edit: i just decided to take the chance and format internal storage and now its working as well as my gallery no longer says its in mass storage mode when its not plugged in haha. I guess they were tied together.

Hi guys, I have been using the AURA Rom for a while now but today when I rebooted my phone it would not go past the beginning blue android splash screen. I am trying to use CWM to wipe data and factory reset but it says:
wiping data...
Formatting /data...
Formatting /cache...
Formatting /sdcard/.android_secure...
Error Mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!
Skipping Format...
Formatting /emmc/.android_secure...
Data Wipe Complete
Now when I reboot the phone it gets stuck at Blur setup and none of the buttons are responsive. Eventually, the screen goes black and thats it. On the top left of the notification bar there is the icon for mounting internal storage and it doesnt go away. I am getting the feeling that the phone is not being able to mount the internal storage. I would really appreciate some help as I have no clue what to do and googling isnt bringing up any results. Thanks
So the phone just went past the blur setup part and booted into android. The problem is that the internal storage is not being recognized and is not mounting. When I go into settings and storage. It doesnt register the internal storage. It shows 0 bytes and hitting format does not do anything. Also when I try to connect to computer, I cannot see the internal storage. If you try to mount the internal storage, everything freezes.
Edit: Problem solved by formatting internal storage in Windows

connect phone to computer with usb and when the drives show up on your then select the internal sc card (right click) and select format.
Sorry, I meant how to format the internal flash storage, which has many partitions on it (one of them being the internal SD you refer to)
Right now, my vibrant can't mount the internal sd so im not able to use the internal sd at all. I tried flashing another rom, like from ICS Passion>ICS Slim but it didn't do anything. If I go into recovery, I can see all my files that I put on the internal sd before my phone couldn't detect the internal SD. I screwed the internal sd up because one of my apps weren't working right, and i deleted it using root browser. Afterwards, my phone couldn't detect it. If i go into the build.prop, it shows nothing about the internal sd and it being mounted so im not sure what to do right now. Should I try formatting the SD? My computer doesn't detect the internal SD and will ADB help? Any help will be appreciated

Can you go in storage settings and hit Menu and hit Storage configuration and see what you have checked in there?
Well I'm in storage but when i hit menu there's nothing there. All I see is...my internal storage? I thought the SD card that you put in was your external storage?...Well thats 2GB, then its my usb storage that cant mount? Sorry, I guess its my usb storage thats the problem because my internal storage and my sd card show something. its just my USB storage thats unable to mount. If i press "Mount SD Card," then it says "preparing sd card" and then "calculates" my apps photos and everything. But after that it stops, and goes back to "Mount SD Card". Its like my phone doesn't know how to mount it now?

Can you access anything from your computer?
I can access the external SD card, but not the 16GB one
Edit:Nevermind, I can access it and look at all the files that i put on there. It says something about 0 bytes free and FAT32

Perhaps try wiping and installing CM9. It just stopped when you removed an app? Which app?
Alright, I'll try cm9. I was deleting swype, and after i did that by root browser it didnt mount anymore.
Edit: I remember i did try flashing a cm9 nightlie before i tried flashing ics slim and i got the status 7 error
Maybe try odining back to stock and going back then?
That's difficult, because I can't go to download mode easily. If i use like terminal emulator and try to reboot to download mode, nothing happens. Yesterday, my phone fell out of my pocket and when that happened the battery fell out. I put the battery back in and pressed some stuff I suppose, and I got into download mode. Im not so sure how I did that though...

You can't get into download mode from the terminal right now. What you gotta do is shut down, hold down VOL-Up and VOL-Down at the same time while you plug in the USB.
Hi!
Today, I ran into problems with my SD card not being recognized. After booting, the process usually looks like this:
1. Displays "Preparing SD: Checking for errors" in the notification area, options to mount wither SD or internal storage are grayed out, "Unavailable".
2. No notification any more, internal storage is mounted. SD card shows an option to be mounted, but if it is activated, the storage manager hangs.
3. SD card isn't mounted, I get a notification that "SD Card is damaged. You may have to reformat it."
Each of these takes about 10-20 minutes to happen.
However, the SD is actually fine: If I open it in recovery, I can see everything is there and that there is no damage to it. Unfortunately, I have not found a way to access my data while in recovery, and I don't have a reader for a microSD card at hand. And I need that data to know if an assignment for my university is due tomorrow :\ So, any help?
Device is a Motorola Atrix, originally rooted, with CM7 (Neutrino ROM). Tried wiping the caches and fixing permissions in recovery, which had no effect except that it unrooted the phone -.-
Thanks for any replies!
David
Hi,
I'm new to here.
I have a Computer Science Degree so my level of expertise with PC is high, but I'm fairly new to the Smartphones world, so I'm asking for help because there's something I can't manage to get it to work in my Samsung Galaxy SII (nobrand).
Let's begin with some info about the device:
The device was a 3.xx, then upgraded via Kies to 4.03 and succesfully rooted with CF's root. I routed my device since I wanted to have full control over it, but mostly because I wanted to install a firewall (to prevent some application from accessing the internet unless I specifically wanted them to do so) and widen the device's space reserved to install applications since it was over.
Before routing, I tried to pursue the "move to external SD" trick, but that resulted like a pain in the ass. The external sd was loaded discontinuously, so at eath boot up I was finding myself with broken or unaccessible application, frequent reboots, frozen system untill the sd was loaded, forcing me to cold re-boot the phone. That lead to sd burnout since probably at the 100th freeze, I cold-turned-off the phone during a write cycle and ****ed it up.
SO, this is the reason why I don't want to move applications to external sd anymore (here where I live it's said: forgive the first, club the second)
I noticed that there is a new trick that consists in repartitioning part of the internal SD to ext format and bridging it to the phone's memory tricking the phone to think applications are installed into the phone's memory where they are actyally installed into the internal repartitioned sd instead. (with some apps)
So after months of thoughts about resetting the phone and trying this solution, Yesterday I believed the time had come. In the meantime, Android 4.12 was officially released by Samsung, so I decided to take 2 peagions with 1 breadcrumb and did the match.
I first did a hard reset, then I installed everything new via Odin (downloaded the entire 900Mb pack and flashed it over). Everything went ok and I succesfully installed PhilZ Kernel 4.022b +root).
The Phone is now operative and fully working...
BUT
going to re-partition the external SD is a real nightmare I haven't been able to dig through.
I try to access the recovery with VolUp+Home+Power and the recovery loads. Immediately after booting, I receive the following error:
E: failed to Mount exfat /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 /sdcard
"Nevermind I thought...I don't have an external SD card so that might be the problem".
I went to "Advanced" and then "Partition Internal SD Card", I selected the sizes (2048/32), some rapid flashes and menu back to where it was. Consulting the log, the error is the same as before: E: failed to Mount exfat /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 /sdcard
Mhm...maybe I should select "external SD card". Result: Can't Mount SD Card
So we have...the internal sd card trying to Mount to /sdcard...that is the same as external? Something doesn't really work...
So...the card works in phone mode...but not in recovery mode...how strange...
Then i recalled that when I routed the phone, I installed the root via recovery/zip file, so It should actually see the internal sd card. BINGO! when I try to install something, It perfectly loads the internal contents of the card and a quick look to the path, unveils the problem:
THE INTERNAL CARD IS MOUNTED TO /emmc/
So...we have...recovery mounts internal card to /emmc but when he tries to repartition/reformat he tries to Mount...something to something else and fails.
So I'm stuck here. I heared this might be a problem because 4.12 changes mappings to devices and that I should tamper with vold.fstab but before destroying my phone I came here to ask some experts.
I also read that I might bind externalSD to internalSD, but I don't really uderstad what this mean. Is it something temporary? Will I be able to use external sd and internal sd or is it something I have to operate each time I want to use external SD.
Last but not least: Does that apply to my case? Because I saw that there is people applying that method that have problems loading internalsd in phone mode but my case is completely different. The phone works 100%, the only problem is that I can't repartition from recovery.
So CWM problem? PhilZ problem?
Please help me as I'm stuck.
EDIT: I found ICS SD Binder, but has someone any advice on how to map correctly internal & external SD card? Also...the phone when is on, mounts internal card to /sdcard. So where is the point? Should I Mount the internal card manually to /sdcard?
Man thats a long post. Most of it sounds greek to me. Anyway i have been using my s2 for sometime now. But i still could not fill 2gb of my internal memory with apps. And you dont have to partition your internal sd

If you read his first sentence, it states that he has filled his memory with apps, he does not have any more room on his internal sdcard partition. Some of those apps he uses could take alot of memory.

@OP You may have enough knowledge about computer but when trying to apply it to the phone, you maybe causing problems with the phone. A little knowledge could be a dangerous thing.

This means you didn't read paying attention... I don't want to move application to EXTERNAL sd card...just re-partition the internal and move THERE some of them.
CWM has an option "partition internal sd card", that does not work because it tries to do things on /sdcard while the internal sdcard is mounted as /emmc and NOT /sdcard.
So here's the situation. My sister has a Galaxy S2 which is rooted and has CM11 Carbon rom on it. She's been using it for months now without problems. One day she comes to me and says that her songs are gone so I open up the storage to see whats up. Apparently, the storage wasn't showing up in the settings and it only had an option to format internal storage. I checked with a file manager and it also turned out to be just like an empty folder. Tried to connect it to the pc but it also just shows the external SD card and not even recovery works, returns the can't mount message. I figured the storage is not dead but rather not being mounted as the system and app storage, and the phone itself, are working fine, since those should also be taken from internal memory? So my question is, what's going on? How can I recover the files from it?
