Cannot get past boot logo after trying to restore stock. - HTC Amaze 4G

I am running gb with 4ext installed through hasoons tool. I have a custom loading screen and besides this everything is stock. I followed this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27058110
And after I finished this guide I cannot turn my phone on. I redid the whole process and still no success. While doing it it mentioned something about something not matching and that it could still work, but not run correctly. I'm on telus and was using the telus nandoird dump.
Any idea?
Thanks.

Did you notice this part:
This is mainly for Telus S-On users who are on ICS and for some reason find themself in that screwed position of failing to flash the ICS update or somehow screwing it up and wanna restore to stock or just wanna restore to stock ICS but basically Telus S-On users can't just flash a stock RUU like T-Mobile users can due to us only having the ICS OTA file and well that can only be used to upgrade manually when you're on GB. So here's a little tutorial or mainly a source of a nandroid to restore back to stock if you're a Telus ICS user.

*sighs* I'll begin highlight things in red in my tutorials soon, anyways, download this file here: http://d-h.st/qah
Once you have that file, lock your bootloader, put your phone into fastboot and run that exe file, follow all instructions on screen. Should restore you to complete GB stock.
Let me know your result.

[Q] Newb Question and problem..

Does the thunderbolt need to be rooted to upload a stock PG05IMG from my SD card? Im trying to load PG05IMG_Mecha_VERIZON_WWE_1.12.605.6_Radio_1.16.00.0223r_NV_8k_1.41_9k_1.64_release_174685_signed.zip from my SD card as my handset is stuck at the bootup screen, thus wont reload through an RUU.
The phone was previously rooted by someone else and I did a system clear through the clockwork recovery (Version 3.1.0.2) menu to wipe their info. Afterwards, it only showed the bootscreen. Oops....
Ive tried to load the aforementioned file through the bootloader screen by renaming it PG05IMG.zip, etc, but the phone keeps rejecting it.

What exactly are you trying to do? Completely unroot the thing and put S-On? I'd like to be sure before I dole out instructions. And why such an old RUU? Why not the 1.70 RUU. And how was the Tbolt rooted and S-Off'd before?
Honestly, Im just trying to get it to boot again as easily as possible. I dont care if it's rooted, unrooted, anything, I'd just like it to work.
I grabbed the old RUU because I figured I could update from there. It actually makes no difference to me at this point what's on it, I just want it to work again. lol

I hope wiser minds than mine chime in, but I don't think flashing an old RUU would be wise if Revolution was used. Revolution replaces the hboot and I don't think flashing a new RUU replaces it. I'm not sure what bad would come of it, actually.
It sounds to me like you just need to flash a new ROM. I don't know what radios you have, but you probably have newer ones since those are the radios of choice for newer ROMs. I'd try that first. If that doesn't do it, then I think what needs to happen next it to figure out what hboot you have. If it was done via the jcase method, then flashing an RUU should work fine. If not, well... I'm not an expert on that front, but there are threads on that subject. I wish I could dish out a real simple answer, but I'm not sure it so simple.
Definitely sounds like all that is needed in the OP's case is to flash a new ROM (custom or stock) from recovery as loonatik suggested or possibly restore a backup if one exists. Just sounds like /system was formatted and nothing flashed afterwards.

Thanks for confirming. If you can hold volume-down while powering it up and get into ClockworkMod, flashing another ROM is just a matter of a few button pushes.
Exactly what I thought. I've loaded custom roms on the a855 and Eris before, but the above file won't load. I'm wondering if the bl is locked but it has clockwork, so I'm confused...
That's an entire RUU. That's why. Go get just a ROM and flash through clockwork.
Hey just wanted to say that worked and thank you very much. I am a bit curious however as to why the full RUU didnt work...

A full RUU contains a LOT more than just a ROM. It must also be flashed differently; through the bootloader and not recovery. An RUU contains a new bootloader and radios, as well as a ROM. If you'd flashed that RUU correctly through the bootloader, you probably would have lost S-Off and root, or ended up with a device that did even less desirable things... like bootloop.
Thats what I actually tried to do. I renamed and tried to upload through bootloader but it failed. I've flashed RUU's before but never had the issue which worries me a bit. Could be my "bad luck" saved my butt from a more serious issue.
However I loaded the PlainJane rom and it appears I killed my radio now so my journey through aggravation has not yet ended. lol. Im going over your very helpful Q&A post now and seeing if I have a compatible radio for the ROM.
Edit: Nevermind, it seems to be good to go. Thanks again for the help.

in the rom thread most devs put what radios are compatible and a link to the radio. Not sure how new plainjane is, but most of the newer radios work with all the custom roms.

If you used Revolution or updated to the patched bootloader, it's designed to not allow flashing over. That's probably why it failed.

OTA: I blew it. Help?

Before I do anything else to screw this up!
I'm sitting at an exclamation in a triangle
here what I did..
1. installed stock/rooted rom
2. used clean flash to put on stock recovery
3. ran OTA Keeper to back up root
4. downloaded and started OTA update
it then rebooted and began but then Red Exclamation In A Triangle
anyone know where I should go or what I should do from here?
Thanks.
If your pc detects the phone- you'll prob have to do an ruu.exe to get it totally stock and then start over.. I did it earlier but I was having a diff problem (stuck in hboot)-- never got triangle/exclamation. I used the ruu from scottsroms (1.02.605.6).
yeah ok... I'll look into that. I haven't turned it back on yet.. Thanks
Just realized i forgot to "un-root" with the OTAKeeper app... I'm hoping that's what I did wrong. It booted back to where i was and said the update failed. So... I'm a tryin' again.
Thanks for the reply.. One can feel soooo alone when making mistakes
There's some other information in the OTA threads in "general" of others that have had the red triangle and were able to work around it.. I didn't read the specifics but check in there.

I'm going to run through those steps later and check out the other threads. I'm able to get back to my phone as the update looks to of just been aborted....
If you guys don't have wives, keep it that way, I want to work on this all day but...... so I'll check in later and post how it goes. I don't see why those steps won't work though... Thanks a ton guys.
I planned on waiting until the official build of ICS & Sense is released OTA, especially after today's news about the new features in Sense 4.0, which I'm actually extremely impressed with.
Cool- well I'm sure you've already read elsewhere- but you can't really go wrong w/ any of the custom ics roms in the dev section. If you can handle a very occasional screen flicker every once in a while they're pretty much perfect.

No. I didn't. That was my mistake. Dumb of me. I'm gonna do the ruu and start over later, I'm out n about.

Why lock the bootloader? There are a bunch of us who were able to successfully OTA without doing so. My radios are all updated as well as the OS. If you debloated, you need to reenable the bloat prior. No need to unroot either.

Had Ineffabilis from 12/29, was great, put Clean ICS on it from 1/24, worked well except for the bluetooth pain in the patookie. (and I use bluetooth ALOT)...
I flashed back to GB, I have Team Bamf on mine right now because it included the kernel. I am getting ready to put clean rom on it with the new main ver but I would like to put the new radio's on it first.
Can I put the new radio's on it without going through the steps above (flash stock, re lock, ruu, ota update, unlock, flash, etc) and if so how?
Thanks!
Figured it out. Gonna make a post.

It's possible the deodexed part of it is the problem.
Do you have a nandroid made from right after you flashed Amon Ra recovery? Also, did you flash a stock recovery or do you still have Amon Ra? It won't work unless you have stock recovery.
If you don't have a nand, you can either run RUU (if you don't have the updated mainver issue) or have a look in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467329
con247 has made a stock ROM with the OTA in it so you don't have to download the update.
There aren't any instructions on what to do with the file you download and I didn't use his method so I can't really help but hopefully you'll get it. I don't remember it being spelled out in the thread anywhere which is why I decided it was just as easy for me to use my nand and flash a stock kernel and recovery and download it myself.
I had stock recovery and kernel at the time I ran the update. I've since went back to amon and I've downloaded vigor ota stock rooted and I was about to try that.
Oh and...I'm pretty sure my earliest back up was not my original, I think I made the mistake of flashing a Rom before my first backup
I do however really wish I had some instructions for the vigorotastockrooted.
& one last thing.. Ive never had mainver update.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
Yeah, I wish there were instructions for that stock + OTA too.
The OTA will update your mainver but to the official release that is in the OTA. Just so you know, I can now not flash the dbs kernel I was using before because I'm getting a "mainver is older" message.
I was trying to reflash kernels because my wifi is not working now, when I select "turn on wifi" that changes to "error". I had restored my nand of the Innedfabilis ROM I made right before reverting to stock and updating with the OTA. Just mentioning it since I'm posting here to try to help you and I guess it's just full disclosure.
Hmm. I'm thinking of sticking pre-ota as well, at least until I feel more confident about it. Thanks
Edit.... I ended up using con's vigorOta and xtreme tools (for simpler lock/relock) to update . Thanks for the help/insight!

I cant install ics update for my phone can someone help plz. You want this thread.
Kernels for all Current Rezound ROMs
You want the last one that says, "Currently running a ICS ROM after installing the OTA:"
Download that to your SD card, reboot into HBOOT, it will update the kernel and you will be able to use the phone again.
Edit: Oh and there is no S-off as of yet. But if you are loading ROMs then I assume (yes I know what that stands for) you already have the bootloader unlocked. And that will allow you to flash kernels, which is what you need in this case.

Also, not to burst your bubble, but the ota that you are trying to install, is NOT ics.. Although we all wish it were, its not here quite yet. The ota you are working with is a fix for the radio, some battery drain and a few other issues. Good luck and hope ya get it up and running. I personally seen a big improvement with the new radio, but others have not..

What??? What happened to having everything resolved:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483015
If this is a new panic due to trying to get ICS on your phone you really need to study up more before playing around with the phone. As mentioned above, there is no s-off on this phone. And there are plenty of threads about older version errors, the mainver error you most likely got.
But if you go messing about before you know what you're doing then post panic threads every time you hit a glitch without searching... well... that just gets old. Especially when you are trying to do the impossible.

The phone is completely clean external and internal just gave up on it is there a rom I can download to completely restore the phone?
If you are looking to just go back to stock you will need to do a few things.
First is re-lock the phone, details at the link below; this link also has links to the RUU files:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472606
Second is download the latest RUU from the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338916
Remove any PH98 files you might have on your external SD card.
Run the RUU file and follow the directions.
This will revert the phone back to stock. In order to root the phone afterwords, you will need to unlock the boot loader again. Please refer back to this guide to help you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472606
After that its back to installing CWM or Amon-ra recovery.

In much needed help after ics update

So im new to the Rezound but not to the rom and rooting world. I had made a N00b mistake by flashing ICS to my rezound without following the proper directions. Now I got myself in a situation that im hoping to get out of. When I try to boot it lets me get to my homescreen but then after 10's it restarts the phone. To top it off, I cannot mount my sd. It seems like the phone is getting worst by the minute. Is there a way out of this? Is there some sort of way to access my internal sd from my comp. Just at a clear loss of ideas. Please help.

What did you flash? Was it the new RUU? If you can get to your homescreen then you are still not in bad shape.

Flash the ruu then the Rom of your choice. All the instructions are in the ruu thread to lock, flash, unlock, recovery, etc. Then flash a Rom and not the AP one.
You also have the option to flash one of the ICS ROMe with the old firmware patch but I recommend the RUU path.
Not to thread hijack, but just out of curiosity, why don't you recommend using the patch? I know some people prefer to because it doesn't mark the bootloader as tampered, but are there some adverse effects?

Just that the new firmware is more stable with the ROM and everything works as expected.

Nils is right on this. You need to flash the RUU again. There are a lot of folks that needed to flash the RUU twice (myself included) to get everything to take.
It sound to me like you this happened to you. If you have the new RUU flashed properly, your phone will boot to the setup language preference screen.
If you had an incomplete/bad RUU update, you phone will boot to your last/current ROM with no SD or internal memory access. Nandroid backups won't restore properly either. Good luck, reflash the RUU with bootloader unlocked, allow system to reboot, flash a new recovery, and rock.

[Q] Did I mess up anything?

Hey guys,
Yesterday I tried to update my ViperOne from 2.5 to 3.2 and being the dumbass that I am, I didn't read the note saying my wifi wouldn't work unless I have 4.4.4
It installed fine but I wanted to go back so I followed Viper's guide on reverting to another version. After hours of dicking around, my phone got stuck on the white htc screen. I did power + vol up and got to the recovery menu and remembered that I had a backup of my stock firmware. Lesson learned (always make backups)
Anyways, i booted into the back up image and now everything is working.
My question is, is my phone ok? After the white screen I'm kinda scared I might've ****ed something up. If it's working then I don't have to worry about anything, correct?
Thanks for your help!

You need s-off to update firmware. Once you have s-off, then the firmware I would recommend for use on AT&T's network is 3.28.1540, which is posted on the ROM thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-htc-one-m8/development
Otherwise, your other option is to return to full stock ROM and stock recovery and install the official 4.4.4 OTA once it rolls out from AT&T (rumored mid-December) which will automatically update the firmware. After the OTA, you will then need to re-install custom recovery, to flash a custom ROM.
