I'm using chrmhoffmann's v0.04 CM9 ROM, and I'm trying to get full market going.
I've used this guide here:
http://geeknizer.com/install-incompatible-unsupported-apps-from-android-market/
added the necessary build.prop entries,
force stopped Play Store, cleared its data, and rebooted, but still don't have full Market.
Just flash some different gapps

I believe FULL market access is a pipe dream. I had to decide what apps I wished to install and look at the threads (XDA Themes and Apps) till I found which build.prop gave me access to those particular apps make the changes clear Market and reboot. Used ES File manager to save the app so I could reinstall locally at a later time. Make the next change in build.prop, etc., etc.
Good Luck

Oh I'm sorry I didn't get what you said at first, I've seen a app and if I find it again, I'll post it
The thing is, I've used the same trick on Team-B's CM7 Final, and got full market with the Nexus S props, but never seems to work for CM9. Perhaps "Full" market wouldn't be the correct term, but for example Gameloft games would show up, and there are a few apps that I look for regularly as well that all showed up on CM7. I'm wondering if certain props will only work on GB and not on
ICS, or maybe the play store on ICS isn't cleared as easily, or maybe I'm just doing it wrong. If anyone has a set of props that allow Gameloft games to show up on CM9 for me to test that would be appreciated.

So, after a bit work working and jerking, i actually got my Nook to show everything on the market; sad thing is, i can't say exactly what step did it. But i know overall what i tried, so i can at least mention here...
The first thing first - 2.2.11 and 2.2.7 are out of date. The newest is 2.3.2, and there are some great customized versions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957331
From here, i did a couple of things:
1) Did the standard clear market cache, force close, clear framework data, force close
2) Mounted /system and pushed Vending
3) Fixed permissions (on this, i went overboard, and basically did a chmod 777; but i am sure it doesn't really need that)
4)reboot
5) try to install it a few times (each install failed)
6) Use market enabler, with t-mobile (US) (i ended up buying the key, so i can fake it always on boot)
7) a couple more reboots in there
All said and done, the themed market finally showed up, and even better, EVERYTHING that was once hidden is there. Flash, Angry Birds, Dolphin.. all accessible. Even better, market.android.com now shows the nook, and doesn't say that my device is not able to run whatever. The website itself shows:
Unnamed Device LogicPD Nook Color (zoom2) T-Mobile February 17, 2011 February 16, 2011
Anyway, ill try to answer questions as people have them, but it looks like with the newest market, and (maybe) the faker, we can get full market access.
Well not sure how to get it working, did the easy try with just trying to install the .apk , but it says something about a problem parsing the file or something. I am new to android so not sure how to do the other stuff you talked about. I have root explorer btw.
Hmm.. when trying to install, i didn't run into any parsing errors - it just said it couldn't install.
For Froyo only?
Saw the framework data clear cache which is not seen in Eclair. Just checking.
I found this app that makes the market work with all the apps showing up. It's called MarketAccess. I couldn't find it in the android market, but you can download it here h t t p://amip.org.ru/android/MarketAccess. I have been using the T-Mobile US setting and it seems to work.
Interestingly the site claims MarketAccess is a complete rewrite of MarketEnabler. Not sure whether that's a good thing or not (yet). However, the site does detail why the rewrite was done and what was changed to a degree. Sounds good anyway from the bits I read.

I've noticed with a few apps I've gotten "Your device is not compatible with this item" I have gotten around that by finding upload links in threads but what is the real work around for this? I know for a fact that the app it told me wasnt compatible actually works.

The answer most likely is that the Samsung Galaxy i777 is so new right now
that when developers create the code to their apps most likely are required to
enter or add into their app coding and or database the exact phone names
and models to which they are compatible with before the market allows the
people to download it...........
Just a way to keep the market safer and from getting thousands of complaints
damm , and I wanted to try that wifikill app. Hopefully the creator has a direct link in his thread on xda.
Someone said in that app thread that its because I may have changed my dpi settings, and I did in the build.prop file but I changed it back and I'm still getting the error so I think Misterjunky is correct.

What would the pixel density have to do with any of that? That absolutely is not true as I have the ATT version of the phone and my room mate has the Epic 4G Touch version of this phone. Both are rooted and his is still stock ROM mine is listed below in my signature. My Pix density is 200 and his is stock 240. Both of our markets show as having not compatible apps for our phones such as Adobe Flash and Netflix...Yet We both have the apps on our phones just older versions. When you search them out they are there and claim to have updates but will not let you install. I flashed the UnNamed 1.0.3 ROM to my phone just a few days ago I did a wipe and reset of the phone, after rebooting and customizing (including changing the build.prop file for density) for a short period of time I was able to search out and update Adobe Flash to version 11 and the latest version of Netflix. I go back after a few hours and restoring from TIBU and noticed one of my apps "Make your clock" was the old version I had in my backups that I must have restored over the newer version downloaded earlier in the day from the market updates. I went to update the app and I was not able to do it, now it is not compatible with my phone. I thought at first it was just paid type apps that were doing this and then I investigated and noticed the Flash and Netflix apps were in the list. That threw out any type of security issues that may be trying to be implemented on paid apps now. But is may be something to do with files or sizes related to TIBU and restoring files from backups.
I can confirm that some of the apps in the market will show as incompatible when you change your LCD density. This may not be the only reason, but I have seen this behavior on the Facebook, Skype and YouTube apps.
I just set my density back to 240, restarted, downloaded/updated, then changed back. It's sort of irritating, but until there's a way to override the compatibility check, i think we just live with this work around.

Well I just did the same exact thing you just described and can reconfirm it is still not working with apps installed on my phone. But have not ran into any issue with installing any new appsnot previously installed or restored. Have you or do you use TIBU to backup or restore apps or are you straight stock loading apps from the market directly?

Yeah, like I said. There might be more than one problem. This is just the one that worked for me.
Before I figured it out, I had been restoring (old versions) apps using Titanium without any issue. It's a shame that the market compatibility detection is not quite accurate and there's no way to tell the Market "no really, my phone is compatible."
I have Chainfire, and I have the APK but I have no idea how to get the extra game data to download. I tried changing my build prop but that didnt help. Does anyone know how to make it download the data or where I can download the data. Every Google search I did returned downloads for the data but they all said the files had been deleted.
It works for me now with the new update from the game.

Not sure if this will help, but this is how i was able to get it to work.
If you (or anyone you know) has an android phone, install the apk. to the phone. Update the app if it isnt already updated. Donwload the data. Then, move the data from the phone SD card to your Nooks SD Card. It should be saved under Android-data-com.eamobile.nfsshift_na_wf.
I will say that after I did this, i had to reset my Nook to get the app to notice the data, but it works fine now.
Hope that helps.

This is because his phone has a PowerVR (like the NC) gpu while yours probably has a qualcomm or nvidia. You need the correct type of sd card data.
I bought this an was really enjoying Shift until I had to re-image the NC.
Now, I have an odd issue. In the Market, I can't even see NFS Shift. However, on my other NC, I can see NFS Shift and can download again if needed.
How do I get my re-imaged NC to see it in the Market to re-download?
Thanks!

The android market is a fickle thing. I flashed the same ROM (CM7n253) to multiple Nooks. Only one of them won't allow me to download Google Earth because it's "incompatible." The only difference between the devices is that I assigned them unique IMEIs. I put "Blood and Glory" on my NC and I was going to put it on the others only to find that it doesn't show on the market. Checked market website and sure enough it's listed as "incompatible". Checked my NC and now it's listed as "incompatible" too. Good thing it's a free app, I just titanium backed it up and loaded it on the others. I really wish android market had an advanced mode where you could ignore it's "compatibility" settings.
I'd also like to have a way to gift games (a la steam) cause I would have bought a lot more at the holiday sale if I could have just emailed the codes or had it open on their markets.
apk and data from a Droid X
I installed the apk from my Droid X (which I purchased) along with the data but when I attempt to start the game I get an error message that says "Error (Airplay v4.3.10 [2599558]) S3E_DEVICE_PHONE_NUMBER: This device don't have a phone number!".
Thoughts anyone?
UPDATE: The game starts after I click off that error message. However, even though the game will see the data from my previous game play from my Droid X (money, experience points, etc) it still displays the message "If you want to purchase the full game." even though the copy off of my Droid X was purchased. It also doesn't let me change tracks either so I'm stuck on the Tokyo one.
So plants vs zombies works on my evo 3d, I've edited my Touchpad build prop to match my evo but on android market it shows as "HP htc shooteru" tried copying the. Apk to my touchpad and it installs but gives an error installing additional data. Has any one been able to run it?

Really?? What Rom are you using?? I'm on latest xron.
I cant even find Plants vs zombies in the market. I got the paied version on my Desire S, but when i wanna install it on the touchpad, its not there?! I have set the build.prop like the samsung... Anyone know what to do? Im running cm7 alpha 3.
Has anyone tried the Amazon Market? I was able to locate it there and download it no problems with no change to build.prop.
Yes, I tried it and no problems.
I used the Amazon market version which I picked up for free, but restored from TiBu instead of the market. In fact, I've restored all of my apps and data with each new version with no problems. The only thing that doesn't seem to restore successfully is my WiFi access points, but I assume that's because Leoisright is making changes to help those with problems.
I still can't get it to work, is it because I'm in the UK?
I have tried Samsung build prop, evo 3d build prop, moving the game files from my evo to the correct directory on the touchpad and moving the plants vs zombies APk, it will open and do an update check that fails everytime, it will not appear in the market on my tp whichever build prop I try. I tried buying it again from the Amazon app store but because I'm in the UK it said "unsupported region"
Really annoying I can't get to run, seems like it would be a good tablet game, can anyone share there build prop with me??
Use. the. original. build. prop.
and if you're using it from amazon appstore, you need something to spoof your location or atleast have a billing address in the US.
Yep I've tried the original build prop, HP tenderloin etc. Wiped caches, cleared market data, Google framework services data, still dosent show up in market.... I give up lol
I can't see it in the Play Store and Amazon isn't an option for us Canadians. I'm going to try setting dpi to 160, clearing app data, flashing latest CM9 nightly, clearing Cache and Davlik and then see.
I have it if you want to side load it....

I have some of this posted in the Q&A but thought it deserved a thread here as I now have it working with Google Play Music on ICS. I have not been able to get the new YouTube application ported over to ICS yes but I'm still working on it.I could probably get this working on Gingerbread by changing the manifest again but I no longer have a GB device so if someone really wants it let me know.
What you need:
The modified NexusQ.apk file from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28636772&postcount=23
The new 4.3.605 Google Play Music apk which is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19423409&postcount=1
A Nexus Q and WiFi network.
A device running ICS. I used my Bionic running leaked ICS but I did have to root in order to install the new 605 Play Music application.
Instructions:
Install the new (4.3.605) Google Play Music application from Steve0007's posted linked above. If you get an "Existing package with same signature.." error you will need to do the following (this is what worked on my Bionic):
WARNING: ROOTING YOUR DEVICE AND CHANGING THE SYSTEM FILES CAN CAUSE BAD THINGS TO HAPPEN, PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
Root your device (I used this method on my Bionic: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...gh-releases-ics-leak-root-exploit-bionic.html.) Install Root Explorer from the market and delete the existing com.google.android.play.music.xxx.xx.xxx apk from /system/app. Reboot device. Copy 605 apk to device and install.
END SCARY ROOT WARNING
Install the modified NexusQ.apk, plug in the Q, turn on Bluetooth on your device (it will prompt you to if you don't) and get connected! I had to go through the process several times before it successfully paired up but from what I've read the same is true on JB devices as well. If you need to wipe out the Q you do so by unplugging it, plugging it back in and as soon as the blue ring starts place your palm over the single LED on the top until the ring goes from flashing red to swirling purple. This will factory reset the device. Since getting both my Bionic and Xoom paired it's worked well.
Enjoy until the official ICS and below apps drop from Google.
If anyone is successful at getting the JB YouTube application working on ICS please let me know.
Thanks to everyone that helped me get this working!
Thanks a ton!!! I've added a link to this in my roll-up (here) in the general thread so others will find it. I'm now able to use my Nexus Q, thanks again!
Eventually I'll start learning to do some dev work :/
I followed your directions but I still cannot stream anything, I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. I was able to get the Nexus Q 8 Ball easter Egg to work.
What is your current status? Do you have the 4.3.605 music player installed? If so you should have the little "beam" icon on the top right when playing music and tapping that should make the Q almost instantly start streaming that song.

Did you read the part about needing to manually remove the old play music application via root explorer (or a simple uninstall if allowed)? Have you tried either?
I wasn't too happy with Google either but the support page for the NQ does say that it is only working on JB until purchased units start shipping. Plus I've learned a lot getting this to work! ;-)

Did you read the part about needing to manually remove the old play music application via root explorer (or a simple uninstall if allowed)? Have you tried either?
I wasn't too happy with Google either but the support page for the NQ does say that it is only working on JB until purchased units start shipping. Plus I've learned a lot getting this to work! ;-)

Yes I read that but the old play music was not in the system\apps directory but it was still installed so not sure. I force stopped it and uninstalled it and reinstalled it and still would not let me install the one listed.
Hmmm, I think that's two of you with problems installing on CM9. I don't have anything running that ROM (and you can probably tell I'm already pretty much at the limits of my skills) but perhaps it is installed differently in that ROM. Unfortunately I don't think I can help you with this one.

Just though I should specify what rom I had success with. I copied the app to /system/app folder and changed the permissions. I did NOT have google music previously installed. When I ran the app to install it said install failed. I then installed the NexusQ app directly from my SD card, which installed no problems. I did not try to run the NexusQ app and rebooted the phone. Once rebooted i turned on my WIFI and bluetooth and launched the NexusQ app and rebooted the Nexus Q. The app paired up with the Q no problem. I was then able to run Google Music app and play to the Q with no issues. *NOTE* When i walked out of the house (i did not manually disconnect the wifi or bluetooth, just hit the stop play music button and turned off the TV and receiver) and came back later, turned the TV and receiver back on, the visualizations or music track would not show at all. Just the NexusQ home screen. I rebooted the Q and everything is working fine again.
No, youtube does not work (which I think is posted an original post somewheres). It seems that a ported app will be needed to push youtube videos to the Q. I cannot test Google movies/TV as I dont own any.
I've tried exactly this on my HTC One S running ICS (albeit with HTC Sense) and can't get it to stream to the Q.
Everything installs fine (if I move it to /system/apps and change the permissions as mentioned) but I see no option in the Play Music app to stream to the Q.
Additionally, the new Play Music app looks it has lost quite a bit of functionality to the previous version - perhaps indicating that the installation went badly? For instance, there are much fewer options on the settings page and there's no option to choose or configure my Google account anywhere.
bobukcat - is this the case for you?

Yes that worked for me!
It still took a bunch of tries to get it to do anything though.
For a long time, and several reboots, the Q didn't show up in the list of devices in Play Music...
No idea what I did, but all of a sudden it showed up.
Volume control from the phone still doesn't work, and YouTube/Videos don't work either.
At least now I can enjoy it a bit until they release the real apps.
Thanks a ton for all the pointers and packages!
What order did you install the packages? Play Music first and then the Q app? Or the other way around?

The Q app first.
When the Q finally showed up in the new Play Music app, it was after turning wifi off/on a few times ... don't know if that's what finally did it though.

No, my play music application has all the previous functionality and even more options in Settings, including Nexus Q settings. Did you install the Q application first? I don't know why this would matter but that is what I did.
Did you just move the new play music apk to the /system/app location or did you actually install it from application manager in Astro or other file manager? I don't know that just moving the apk to that folder will work (I don't think I even tried that) so you may have to delete the old one, reboot and then install the new one from the apk. Please try that and let us know if it works.

Yeah, I've tried to rebuild the YouTube application from JB with a new manifest multiple times but I still can't get it to work right, I did finally get it to install but it just constantly FCs and never really runs. Clearly someone much more skilled than I (which wouldn't take much) at modifying apks would need to look into this or we just wait for the official app from Google to drop.
Strange that the volume control from your phone doesn't work, as long as I'm in the Play Music application it works fine on both my Bionic and Xoom.
As reported in the OP I too had lots of errors and force closes, etc. when trying to get this to run the first time but from what I've read that happens on JB devices too and in fact I had a few on my Xoom running TeamEOS nightlies.
