[Q] Alarm Volume [SOLVED] - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Anyone else find the alarm volume wayyyy too quiet? Other alarm apps are similarly quiet for me. Frustrating.
MORE INFO: Alarm tones seem to work fine. But my mp3 songs that I've used previously, that play fine in the GS3 player, play at half-volume in the GS3 alarm clock.
SOLUTION: See post 7.

Download audio manager and turn it up. Volume is fine here.

I'll give it a try later. Just to explain, I've set certain songs as ringtones that I previously used on my Epic. The odd part is, the GS3 can play them at the same volume, but the alarms only play them half as loud as the player.
UPDATE: Not what i need. I know how to set the volume. I want it to go louder. This phone can barely wake me up right now.

I just set an alarm for 8am, I selected a tone that I have brought over from CM9.
I turned off the smart alarm stuff (which I believe is the culprit)
when it went off it was nice and loud, "nice" being used loosely as it will jar you from your blissful sleep.

Alarm tones seem to work fine. But my mp3 songs I've used previously, that play fine in the GS3 player, play at half-volume in the GS3 alarm clock. Maybe I'll have to choose new tones...

I had the same issue, but mine is not playing my picked mp3...and its way too quiet, I will try the turning off smart alarm and see if that makes a difference I didnt even notice it was on.

Theory and Work-Around Solution
THEORY
I may try converting my mp3 alarms to ogg files to see if they play louder like the default alarms... but until I can figure out the varying volume issue...
WORK-AROUND
This should solve volume issues system-wide. Everything will be louder. Camera is silenced. Texts are audible. Alarms are plenty audible. Problem solved. :good:

[Q] Tasker script to solve headphones/incoming call/notification issue

Anyone able to create a profile to solve the issue we have with our note. The issue is the following,
If headphones are plugged in and we get an incoming call, the ringtone will play on both speaker and headphones.
If headphones are plugged in and we get a notification, the sound will only play through speaker.
I tried to do a basic script that has headphones plugged in and incoming call for context, then set ringer volume to 0 and play music ringtone.mp3. Add exit task to for the opposite, raise ringer volume, stop music.
The problem is, it worked, if I didn't have music playing already when I get an incoming call, which is the whole reason why I would have headphones plugged in to begin with. The task successfully sets the ringer volume to 0 so at least it didn't play on the speaker, but then nothing would play on the headphones, and the music I was playing would pause (like it's supposed to), but the ringtone I specified didn't play. Ending the call resumes the music I was playing.
Anyone willing to shed some insight on this?
This issue is next on my list. I believe it is an issue with how the phone distinguishes what the sound is. ..phone vs media...hard to explain

This would be a great fix
Would love to have this profile, let me know if there is anything I can do to help!

[Q] Voodoo Sound loses custom settings while playing music

Hey Guys,
I have a GT-P7510 running CM9 with Pershoot's 2.6.36.4 cyanogenmod+root kernel
I use Spotify and PlayerPro to play my music.
I have noticed Voodoo Sound has been acting rather strange.
I've noticed on my Vibrant that Voodoo Sound once started after boot and set, will keep its volume until reboot without fail, provided the proper settings. but for some reason on the tablet it is unable to do that. Spotify suffers the most from this, after almost every song it decides to drop back down to -10db from +2db where I have it set for lineout in my car. If I open Voodoo Sound up after the volume drops, it will jump back up either immediately, or after I press on 'Headphone amplifier' when the bar comes up, it resets the volume back to +2db for the duration of that song. With my Vibrant, that behavior does not seem to exist. I've been trying to figure out what could be causing it.
My guesses are:
Spotify is messing with the settings between each song
CM9 Memory Management doesn't keep Voodoo Sound running as a service
Android Gremlins
Anybody else notice this behavior? If so, have any suggestions to resolve it, or to resolve my suspected reasons?
Thanks!
-Rob
I've been having the same issues aswell, I reported this issue already to curio but then again has unticking the box for safe level audio made a difference?
yeah, jack safety is off. I fiddled with it again last night. There is a good chance we will have to talk to notify about it. I have been noticing that their software is very buggy on this platform.
Rumor has it Samsung and CM are collaborating, which might give us the extra leverage needed to have them fix these bugs, of these are their bugs.

I had a bit of a breakthrough. I was researching spotify and volume related issues. I came across people complaining about how spotify handles sound, which is a bit like what Skype does to media during an incoming call, as well as some people's dislike for it. A little more digging came across this thread on xda. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803432 a chap with windows mobile had that problem and follow the m.spotify.com link, download for android 1.6+ install it (3rd party install apks enabled) this one. Once done confirm the following voodoo sound settings.
Smart amplifier
Don't interrupt music
Restore at launch
Load up spotify
Drop the volume until analog volume drops
Raise it back up again.
It held it for at least 3 songs while spotify holds focus. If you leave focus it will drop at the end of the song.
Beats having to turn the gain on the car up dangerously high and having alternator noise bleed in. Also beats resetting the volume after each song.
Fortunately with smart amplifier running you can just drop the volume a couple of times and raise it again for it to hit +2db again rather than diving through menus. And I was wrong, it defaults to -4db after each song.
Oh well its a lazy but annoying work around for now.

Hey Guys,
I have a little bit of an update,
The new preview release of spotify doesn't seem to be as heavily effected as the current market release, so if you use spotify and this is driving you crazy. Google their latest beta preview, should be easy to find. Perks of the new version, faster, less retarded navigation, full ics support, 320kbps, and just straight up better [=
Only draw backs atm is it is portrait mode only and occasionally drops the voodoo sound volume.

Volume Ghost Raising and Lowering Volume

Anyone else experiencing a sudden increase and sudden decrease in volume while playing music through google play? It's happened when it's hooked up to my IBolt dock as well as through bluetooth speakers. I have no clue what may be causing it, whether it's drivers on the phone itself or something screwy with Google Play music service.
I'm having the same exact issue. I'm not sure if it's Google play music or the phone causing the problem

I have the same issue too. Google Music, offline/cached songs, and I use a Klipsch S4i. I have one more day before the 14 day return policy is up. So I am guessing this is a wide known issue. I saw a review for Google Music about a S4 volume bug.
I have to assume it's a google music issue then that will be fixed. If it was a phone issue it'd happen on all music being played which I don't think it has for me off hand.

Has anyone tried turning off Adapt Sound for Music and see if that fixes the problem?
I never set up Adapt Sound therefore it's not turned on. I confirmed in the music app that Adapt Music was off, unless there is a simliar setting in Google Music I'm not aware of?

Yeah, I tried Google Music with Adapt Sound on and off, the problem is still there.
Equalizer? As I was typing this, I went into the equalizer and the volume instantly went back down to the "original" level. Ill tinker with it. I currently have it set to: Rock, Bass boost ~60%, and 3D effect Off. Ill set the equalizer to off and se what happens.
I use Apollo 1.1 and never had that issue with my music or any other sound.
Do you stream with Google Music? If yes, do you stream while connected to bluetooth and/or a dock?
So I think the equalizer is to blame. I had it off all day and there was no strange volume fluctuation.
interesting. I'll have to give that a shot as I do have mine on.

Thanks for the heads up. This has been driving me up a wall since launch.
There is a new Google Music update. Im testing it out with equalizer enabled. Ill report my results.
Results: Bug still there.

[Q] Very weird and frustrating volume issue

Hello all,
I am experiencing a very weird volume issue. I'm debating sending the phone in for the insurance, but I heard that this phone has stopped being sent back as a replacement, my buddy with the same one had to pick a different one. So I would like to find a workaround
Problem:
The volume is inconsistent, very much so, but only at very intermittent times, sometimes frequently. It starts at one of the two levels, low and high, and switches between the two sometimes 5 times in a few min or once every few day. it occurs across every application and every re-install of the venom rom.
It is a problem because 1. it is annoying, and 2.I have a very loud sound system in my car.
Normal loud listening volume is around 20-23 out of 35. i can turn it all the way up with no distortion and it is extremely loud at this point, loud enough to damage ears easily. When I turn it up that loud(at festivals) I like to wear earplugs in it. When I'm just driving I don't need it that loud, but I always ride to taste with the volume. Sometimes i don't look at the volume level on my car, the volume on my phone is up all the way but it has decided to take a low level to start today. While driving and not looking at the volume, just listening to it, i will usually set my volume at 33-35, then the phone decides to jump to it's loud setting making me cringe and swerve in pain and surprise as I sound like a rattling venue driving around. I have mostly solved this by just using my ipod. But I really like having spotify and pandora in there. plus android kicks ass, my ipod feels like a backup hard drive in it's waterproof case
Have Tried:
Pushing volume button up(does nothing when low)
Rebooting
Re-installing os
Bluetooth vs aux (both same problem)
resetting Bluetooth connection
removing and and pushing in headphones
placing a call
Guess:
it appears to not affect calls or ringer volume, just media volume, even speakerphone is unaffected. my guess is something in the audio processing section due to it affecting bluetooth and aux out. I have ruled out speaker, installed programs, connection type, time of day, specific mp3's, temperature, movement and what i'm doing on it. It is really stumping me, usually I can figure out what is broken on the inside of things hardware related, but I don't know the inner workings of this phone exactly.
Would like:
To know what is actually going on. A fix would be awesome, but I mainly want to know what it could possibly be. It has confused me for too long.
To know if the phone can be replaced for the same model to hold out until next summer
Would not like:
To be told to just get a new phone. I like this one and the rom on it. plus i already paid for it and a new battery. i will live with the issue until next summer if need be
Any ideas?
Which media player are you using? Since it only occurs during media playback perhaps a different media player will give you some insight

I usually use power amp.
Though the problem occurs across that, the stock media player, Pandora, spotify, youtube, flash videos. pretty much everything except for calls and ringer.
Try using a app that (re)sets the volume every time you connect to the radio via Bluetooth. I use a car dock that automatically launches my car app (car home ultra) when the phone is inserted, and the app then automatically sets the Bluetooth media volume to a preset volume every time.

[Q] Notifications interrupt music playback even on vibrate.

My phone is always on vibrate, but even then when I'm listening to music I still have the notification sound going off when I get a text or email. I tried disabling all sounds and the notification will still go off in my headphones regardless of what mode the phone is in. Any way to fix that?
+1 Seems a rather common problem and I have not been able to find a fix...
I think its a General android problem which if i remember correctly google said they have changed in Android 5.0 but thats months Away from us
There is a xposed module i think caled DO NOT DISTURB which prevents alot of things interupting music play
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I couldn't find that, but most of the apps I've found simply put the phone in silent/vibrate based on different events.
I wouldn't mind it if the interruptions were limited to Ringer mode, but lowering volume while on vibrate or silent? That just ruins the music experience.
