Sorry everybody, I meant to post in in the Gen9 section. I understand if you all hate me
Did you mean to post it in the Gen9 Section? If so, make a thread there.
I'm interested in CM9 on gen8 so yes! I tried to build using the ICS files out there and was ultimately unsuccessful.
He posted it here by mistake. He meant to post it at the G9 section.
sure, who would not love having CM9 / ICS an our tablets. But let's be realistic, I could think of no way how ICS could run on a gen8 in a way I'd call usable.
As postet before, that is not true.
ICS doesn't need more memory then Froyo.
There is a running and well functioning CM9 for the Milestone.
And the Milstone has a closed bootloader and therefor has a not changeable kernel that doesn't have swap and because of second boot lacks 30-40MB memory.
So if there would be someone like kabaldan working in the port it would be possible.
Hello
No thanks, I would content myself with a stable 2.3.7 version

Could we create a sticky thread for the status of NVIDIA Gingerbread drivers? The lack of these drivers is a major issue for many users in deciding whether or not to go from Froyo to GB, and it would be nice if there was one place (ie, a sticky) to find out if and when those drivers are released (obtained?) and incorporated into GB ROMS.
(I have seen the "Gtablet gingerbread nvidia drivers available now.." thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069864, but from the content of the thread, it appears that the title is incorrect.)
Thanks!
i second the motion...
need sticky thread for this...
I agree. I want to move from Froyo to Gingerbread too
Not sure if this is the proper forum for the question, but since it is a general question, and I did try searching other sub-forums first, here goes. If this belongs in a different sub-forum, would a mod please move it.
I have read/heard of kernel v2.6.x having bugs in it. What are the chances of Android getting kernel v3.0.x? What would need to be done? Is it even feasible? What would be the pro/con of building a v3.0.x kernel? Would our phones perform better or worse with v3.0.x?
I've seen experimental roms with kernel 3.0 but unfortunately not for my DHD, don't ask me where and for what phone I don't really remember
google it, I'm sure you'll find it.. (also I don't know what changes brings along )
It will longer the battery life, i read somewhere. But i saw 3.0 kernel only on galaxy nexus for now. Waiting too
just buy smartphone with ICS and test it ))) There is 3.* kernel
Hi, guys
I looked around I saw lots of ROMs and there is no thread which is talking about which ROM should be the best for Tab10.1.
so, what do you guys think which ROM is the best and also include link to that room....
Thanks
1. This shouldn't be in this forum section. It's not ROM development!
2. There is no such thing as 'best rom' as it's highly subjective. If you don't need the Camera, flash an ICS rom. If you do, then stick with a Honeycomb one.
Questions go in the Q&A section.
Simple as it get's
Care for Camera: HC 3.2 ROM's
Care for Speed/Performance: ICS Kang CM9
I choose Overcome v 2.3.0 as i want the tab to function flawlessly.
Now, i can wait for a fully functional ICS rom
I am using Overcome 2.3 too.
Dear Viewpad 7 users,
Everybody says our beloved Viewpad 7 is too old for Ice Cream Sandwich but thats not true. I own a Galaxy Ace which has the same CPU only the turbo version which runs @ 800Mhz. And it runs ICS like a dream.
The Viewpad 7 is overclockable to 864Mhz and maybe with a better kernel it can go even higher. So it has enough preformance for ICS. I can even run ICS on my Phone @ 600Mhz.
So whatever they say ICS on our Viewpad 7 is possible..
Even the Legendary HTC G1 gets Ice Cream Sandwich.
You can see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ym4A82ft5pw
Please Developers help us port ICS to our Viewpad!
Good news for my viewpad7. Thank you for new information.
it would be great but we still not even got gingerbread so dont wanne get mij hopes up
+1, I use my Commtiva N700 daily and would love to have ICS running on it. Bought ~3yrs ago and still beats most tablets for features!

Excuse me, not to rain on the parade or something, but what's the status on those ITE driver things ? Were the sources for them ever released ?
Those seem kinda important for the whole "port ICS" project, as far as I can tell...

No problem it isnt raining yet
The driver will not be a problem, but apparently a overclocked kernel might break the ITE driver.
However ICS can run on our device without overclocking
And there probably is a way around this issue anyway
Happy to help if I can
If I can get some support getting drivers, etc. I would be more than happy to generate an ICS ROM. I am very experienced in modifying stock roms (and specifically with the ViewPad 7), and have AOSP ready for mods. I need some assistance in knowing exactly what to extract from the stock rom in order to make sure wifi, etc work... So if someone more experienced in that wants to help out as an advisor we can make this happen pretty quickly.
I need to help, but I'm noob for linux's os. Now I try to collect the infomation with my bad english and google translate. If someone have a time please post link step-by-step howto port and that will very helpful for starter and noober. Thank you.

Please help this good man in finding what he needs. For i dont know where to find it myself.
But i know its there
That is awesome they released something for ICS for VPAD7 but it doesn't solve the problem of ARM6 not being supported by flash. They have the architecture but they just stopped working on it. So basically we get the look of ICS but still on 2.2.2 level of performance? Is it an improvement or just cosmetic?

Yes ICS brings alot of improvements with it. Indeed sadly the flash support is indees limited.
PS: What do you mean ICS is released for Viewpad 7 ?
No 2.3 still
Good news but the problem that i can see developers stopped creating ROMs for VP7 - they stopped working on 2.3 and i can't find anything re that to update my VP7 so hope they will look back to create more ROMs for ICS and GB as well as i am afraid of the speed with ICS
Any news on JB for Viewpad 7
Hi Friends,
I'm a noob on Android. I was looking for someone to advise what we would need to create the JB ROM for Viewpad 7. I know we will need drivers for the chipsets on the VP7. But there must be so many other things needed as well. Is there any developer who can help or even guide. I'm willing to do what is needed. I really want to get JB on this.
What I do know is we have:
CPU: Qualcomm MSM7227
WiFi: AR6000 Chipset
GPU: ARDENO 200
I also know that the above chipsets are used on the Xperia X10 and as such the Xperia X10 has a working (if not stable) JB ROM.
SO any one out there, please help.
Thanks
Gaurav
Doesn't it help that adobe has discontinued support for flash on Android?

hi folks,
cpl of months ago, i came across the SEandroid project and i quite like the idea.
i am surpised that no existing ROM has ever been released including this mod, so i wanted to try to do it for a test, and i was wondering if you have any idea how you have to proceed for integrate androidse in an existing rom?
I would like to test in on my nexus one.
thx for your help
br
nobody has a clue?
Questions should be posted in Q&A forums, not Development forums.

hi,
nobody for a help?? :'(
You build SEandroid with the kernel, so if some of modded kernels here are open source you can do it. It''s going to be on by default (well, rumoured) starting with Android 4.2 but apparently there's an option to disable it so you can root the phone.
What kernel are you using, standard aosp or modded?
hi derpsec,
thxx for your message, i truelly appreciate.
i am running this rom at the moment http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588669 but i don t think there are any kernels available for that, it seems they are all for ics not jb.
but i wanted to integrate it into a gb rom on my nexus one for test (based on cm7)
thxx for your help, very nice of you
best regards
