I've noticed that my XDA app on the Galaxy S3 (ATT) is eating up alot of battery. Ate almost 40 minutes of CPU. One time when I went into task mananger, it showed high CPU usage and I wasn't even using it for a while (so it was idle). I also noticed this with the Engadget app.
Anyone notice anything similar? Just seems like they should be sleeping and not using CPU in the background...
Try reinstalling them. I haven't had this problem with either :/
See attached. My screen has been on about an hour and xda for 50 min.

And this is it just running in the background.

All I can think of is to reinstall. It shouldn't be doing this obviously
I've uninstalled and reinstalled before those screenshots.

Well no idea then, sorry. You could force stop them when you aren't using them.

Try tapatalk and see what it does

i'm having the same issue. att sgs3 completely stock never flashed rooted or odined. my phone also seems to stutter and lag a bit more than i was lead to believe it would but i really only started to notice it after installing xda.
i have been using the xda app quite a bit today but an app doubling the screen in battery drain just seems wrong.
xda app cpu times:
total: 2h30m
foreground: 55m
i'm thinking about flashing the stock firmware odin package....... but i'm also thinking about trading in my blue for a white and i think the obvious lag stutter problem might help me avoid restocking fees.
oh what to do?
so no one else is having this problem? just us two?
I'm having this problem as well. I had 90% when I went to bed. 6 hours or so later when I woke up I had 50% left :/

I have also been having this problem since my s2. You can see in the task manager its running about 10 pct in the background. Never found a way to stop this apart from manually closing the app in its settings or force close.
I have been having the exact same issue with my XDA app. It just sucks the battery, using 20-35% on average. This is very odd as I have never had a problem with the xda app before. This is an app issue, hopefully they will update this.

Yea I'm having the same issue as well

I also have this problem. I've been manually fcing the app. I assumed it was due to the app trying to serve adds. But I don't really know

Guys, I've had a little better luck...at least its not killing the CPU total (was above 20% before on idle). I've disabled notifications in the settings and I've also disabled the 2 listeners using AutoRun manager.
Does anyone here who is experiencing xda app battery drain have a rooted device with an ad blocker? I have never had this issue with the xda app and the only thing that has changed other than the phone is not being rooted /ad free. My guess is ads are somehow causing this problem.

Anyone notice it doing stuff like reading YouTube comments or xda app specifically scrolling .the stock browser is pretty much lag free but other stuff I dunno I'm thinking the screen size is the cause of this don't really recall it bein this bad on my HTC one s

Yea I have this issue sometimes with the XDA app, facebook n some others. Doesnt happen all the time, only once in a while. Kind of annoying.
Im also getting a slight stutter/lag scrolling.
Yes but I've mostly noticed it in xda.

very laggy
Stock as-is ROM is very laggy. Until I got rid of all bloat, phone was running like first Galaxy.
Use some custom ROMs which will make your phone snappier. I removed around 100 apps.
tapatalk and the xda app lag alot and even crash on me.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
the fix for laggy xda is.
Exit app, hold home, open task manager, kill all.
Then use "app cache cleaner"
All better

Hello, my battery started draining really fast recently, and in the usage statistics, it says 41% is due to cell standby, followed by 15% screen. Before the screen was the most draining factor. Anyone have an idea what's going on?

Check for any rouge apps you might have installed recently

Tunein Pro, Amazon and Beautiful widgets. I also got CS portable, but I make sure I kill everything after playing anything.
Thanks

Tap the 'Android OS 89%' bar for more detail... that is way high. You may be able to resolve by wiping cache and dalvik and reboot. I like Cachemate free at Google Play.

Other than being way too high, that is what it should say so nothing out of the ordinary. Try above suggestion - it worked for me on another device. Good luck.

afaik, this is an issue that has been referred to as a 'memory leak' eg. Infuse and SGS3. It has been resolved for those devices. My Infuse currently running custom 4.1.2 the Andoid OS is at 7% and the SGS3, custom 4.1.2 is at 20%, ( usually not that high.) My LGOG by comparison is at 45%.
Until this is resolved, the current roms available as well as any roms based from them will continue to have this issue. Once resolved, it has a positive impact on battery. Hope this helps.
DL better battery stats to see wake locks.
Sent from my LG-E970 using Tapatalk
The os is always going to be a high percentage if nothing else is using your battery.

I've had this rom for a while and it feels like the gps is really hit or miss. It will find a lock almost instantly some nights and others it will Judy search endlessly.
Anyone else have this happen?

Had similar problem and used faster fix from the market and it helped..might give that a try......

I tested around and I think the problem was partly caused by notification toggles.

As the above reads, my phone will shut itself down if I'm playing games or am on the internet. Usually its when I'm on tumblr and have gone waaaay down the pages. I'm running PACman 19.3.0, jellybean 4.1. I'd love to know if there's anything I can do, just short of reflashing to my old CM 9... Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

There could be a lot of things making this happen. It seems to happen more under heavy load as you stated, maybe try another kernel? Are you underclocking/undervolting?
Sent from my GT-i9100 using xda app-developers app
I was thinking it might have something to do with my clock speed. I'm not sure what is a safe speed to move it up to. I'm running at 1100 MHz right now. I think the Max on the scale is 2000. I was also thinking it could be battery related, as the issue does not occur when the phone is charging.
