From what I've seen and heard, being rooted won't prevent you from receiving this OTA, but you will lose root access unless you backup su and temp-unroot with Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper or the like.
I also work for BIG RED and OTA will be be rolling out of tomorrow.

I wonder if the leaked ICS is the same as the OTA?
The only word anyone's seen is from Best Buy, not Verizon or Moto. The fact that the leak/soak test exists is a sign we're close(but who knows how close). I guess we'll all be really happy, or super pissed tomorrow @3:01 am... Lol

Only for CDMA model or GSM too??
If only CDMA, do you kown when will be rolling out for GSM?
Big Red deals with CDMA only, they wouldn't know the GSM date.
Seihaku is correct. We only know about t CDMA roll outs. But hopefully soon

Unlikely to be soon, seeing as there are no known soak tests for ICS on the XT910 yet. Knowing Moto's treatment of their GSM users, we probably won't get an ICS OTA until the MAXX is out over here... in May.
Lol the funny thing is that we were supposed to get it before us.

Most likely scenario is that the ICS work was originally being carried out for the GSM RAZR, then someone in management intervened and made the DROID RAZR a priority due to Moto's contract with Verizon. I imagine once the ICS update goes live and there are no showstoppers, they'll continue to QA test the update internally for about a month before pushing it out as a soak test for a week, before finally pushing the release version.

You'll have to go on the Moto forums and update your profile to opt-in with your IMEI. They're still sending out emails but as far as I know they haven't launched the actual test.

I hope in a GSM beta version leaked soon!
Now I'm running a mod 4.0.3 rom based
I'll try to sign me up for the soak...
Even when i called rogers they said today via manual update....still nothing
is it just me ?
I haven't received it either. I'm in southern Ontario...I know they are saying location doesnt mean anything but I m tossing it out there. I am going to hope its because its Canada Day weekend and Rogers doesnt want to pay the overtime. Have some drinks and enjoy the weather! Hopefully by next weekend we will have it.
I live in Quebec Canada and nothing yet, I hope we get it after the long weekend

Go MIUI then..
This has been covered here on XDA and many other sites... The GSM release of ICS was delayed at the last minute. So, wild conspiracy theories aside, final testing revealed some issue that caused Motorola to delay. They're working on it. When it's ready, it'll be released. If you're not willing to try a custom ROM, relax. Gingerbread on our Razrs is great. Enjoy it until ICS is sent out in the wild for GSM users. It's worth the wait.

Yes... BootStrap recovery has to be removed manually (SafeStrap has in-built option afaik)... To save the root, use OTA root keeper to temporarily unroot and then restore root after ICS update.. This method seems working for many friends here....
The OTA removes root, if u have NOT un-root before that...

It's not in our phones though so its the same as "it isn't out".That regarding Europe.
When I see the fastboot-files for JB emerge, then I will believe it...
expect a waiting period of now to infinity
It took them 6 months to release ICS in the states... in Canada only 9... some people still waiting... I'll believe JB when I see it not even gonna bother hoping this gets officially released
Very soon to the carriers.. Then expect the carriers in the USA to take 9 months more...

"Before the end of the year" but what year? 2014 would be adequate to their attitude
Sent from that su*kin-fu*kin piece of sh*t with a locked bootloader...
I think they probably will release it this year, cause the leap from ics to jb is a small one, just a few changes. So they should release it in one month not three. But this is trying on their side to get customers back. They won't admit it but they lost a lot of customers with their attitude. But it is too little to late. Interest in their new phones is virtualy non existent. Nobody is getting exited and that is a sign of bad things to come for the company. They will try evrything now even maybe to unlock the bootloader, but nobody cares anymore...most of us are just waiting for contract to expire and to move on. RIP Motorola.

I partialy agree with you BUT:
"So they should release it in one month not three." - we will be happy if they release it in three months instead of 9....
"even maybe to unlock the bootloader" - I am affraid that they are to proud to do something like this...
"but nobody cares anymore" - in fact there are users who doesn't care about rooting, roms etc and from that point of view are the motorolas phones good choice as the hw is great...
"RIP Motorola." - right... Motorola lost nearly all their powerusers....
I think it will happen & you are going to see a complete swing shift now that the Google takeover is complete and they have started putting their personnel in charge, as well as the lay offs etc.
I know they originally said that they would let it run as a stand alone but I think the company is too big a worldwide name for them to let fail, they would lose too much face if they let that happen. You also have people that have now not lost their job, bricking it that it may still happen and looking to make names for themselves within the company and in that environment anything can happen.
Biggest thing for me is for another Operation Mosh should be ran right now and by everyone that possibly can, with the noises they are making about upgrades, changes that are being made in the company, new phones and bootloader unlock tools etc, I think the time for a push on this has never been better to try accomplish this goal.
Or worst case scenario, they will do what they did with 2.3.6 update to nonefigs when ics update was announced. They will dump it , because ICS was so close , just now they will do it with 4.0.4.
Just joking (hopefully )

I just hope something leaks so the devs can get into it, because my wife was still running official 2.3.6 on her RAZR, nothing custom ever flashed on it and when the notification came through for the OTA ICS update Australia it just failed at instal everytime, i even took it out of cache folder and attempted manual installs all different ways and just kept failing... Upside was, my wife finally let me root and flash her phone so she now knows what she was missing out on lol.
So basically, going by past experience Moto would be better off sending there updates direct to the devs so it can be fixed and improved

Indeed 4.1.2 and 1.27.531.7 is what we are stuck with....
Just called T-Mobile and the woman saw nothing about the updates in their system...
She said if you can download the update and apply it from HTC's website that would work, but rooting and using different software would break the warranty.

The rep would not know anything except an update currently in the pipeline, that is, already heading our way. Only someone at Tmo corporate headquarters would know the strategic deployment strategy, and they do not talk. TMO tends to release updates later than other companies.
t-mobile tends to release updates not at all...
a few years ago my smartphone was updated for all carriers except t-mobile. everyone went up an android version while I did not.
who cares how much difference it makes... t-mobile is clearly lazier about updating than other companies and need a push to do so.

Well, for my Amaze 4G, they released the upgrade to ICS after about 5 months. And then very recently they did another upgrade, which would be almost a year later. But that first major update wasn't that late.
The way I look at it, if you're using these forums, you shouldn't have to wait for carrier updates. HTC did announce that an update is in the works.
