I'm stock S-on rooted and have frozen some bloat. However the phone takes about 4 min. To boot up. What can I do to speed up the boot?
Select fastboot and that should help, it's under settings > power options I believe.

I've already got that set. Any thing else I can try?
Stop clearing the cache on boot?

It is odd that the phone boots so slow. My old original droid booted faster.
My phone boots extremely fast even with fastboot off. It is usable in about 25 seconds from pushing power.
yeah idk why yours is so slow, because mines relatively quick as well... and i never use fast boot.

Takes mine a solid 1.5-2 minutes to boot(without fastboot checked). Do you guys have any frozen bloat? Wondering if something there could be causing it. Stock OS or ICS?
Mine boots in less than 30 seconds.

And fastboot was unchecked? Mine boots that fast with fastboot, but not when unchecked.
I remember stock with many apps booting fast. But with like forty taking forever.
ReZound
I'm stock, S-On and rooted. I have frozen some bloat apps, but nothing that should affect boot.
During the boot process it stays at the 4G LTE scteen for the majority of the time.
Once it passrs that it is quick. Whay would cause it to hang at that point?
same here
I call BS on anyone that says their rezound boots in 30 seconds from a power off with fastboot unchecked. Post a video showing it after pulling the battery.
Even all the customs I've run boot slow, and even once the screen is on, it still has to connect to the radio, mount the sd, etc. ICS boots faster than GB.
My HD7 booted in 25 seconds, which was kind of a waste because I only had to reboot it once in 9 months.
Mine takes for freaking ever. Makes my ancient Palm Pre look like a speed demon. Rebooting is a walk away and get a snack affair.
Mine takes about 4-5 minutes to boot the first time after clearing the dalvik cache and cache partition, but every subsequent boot takes like 30 seconds or so and I have fast boot disabled.
My girlfriends myTouch Q takes about 10 minutes to boot though, so don't be too worried about a couple minutes.
One thing that I do know is that the more apps you have on your device, the longer it will take to start up. It apparently does some sort of "optimization" on all the apps at each boot, making it take extremely long if you have a bunch of stuff on there.
There is definitely a difference between restarting and powering on/off. I have fast boot on and if I restart the phone it takes a few minutes, but if i power off then back on it is quicker.

I read your comment and decided to try. I am running Newt's one xxx with fastboot enabled. I timed from the time I pushed the power button to when the x disappeared from the signal bars, which meant radio was connected: exactly 1mn 5 sec. Not as fast as the 25-30 sec that some claim, but a lot faster than the 4 minutes the OP is experiencing. Sorry, I don't have regular standalone camera to make a video. My rezound's camera is good enough for me

My Atrix has rebooted itself at least 6 times today. Once while I was trying to post this. How do I make it stop? This sucks.
I tried to search the forum but couldn't do it from my phone. Go figure.
Take it back? Software restore? I haven't had a single random reboot

No one has really figured out what is causing the reboots. What do you have installed/Mods. One theory is if you have some after market task killer (ATK - Advanced Task Killer) it might be killing the OS causing your phone to reboot, again thats only one theory.

Right out of the box. Not rooted (yet) or anything. I notice that the task manager on this phone lets apps run wild unlike my "old" Droid 2. I have a hot phone with sub par battery life. I am wondering if I have a memory leak somewhere.
I have noticed apps like Pandora tend to lock up as a widget but continue to burn through memory. I am hoping for a system update soon.

I also have not had my Atrix reboot on it's own. You can try to hard reset your phone and not reload your apps to see if it's one of your apps causing the problem. But I bet you will have to get a replacement phone.
One thing that has started happening to me is when I used the speedtest.net app it'll run one good speed test the second run it'll display 50kbps down 50kbps up then it'll reboot very odd don't know why this might be

Make sure you charge your phone full to 100% before doing a hard reset... This helped my battery life tremendously... Don't forget to backup your data
I do get random reboots, but only once in awhile (3x since I can remember from release date of Feb. 22)... I think Motorola is aware of this issue. There is an update in beta test right now so hopefully it will be out for every in the near future.
Good luck.
Is there any update to this? I am also having random reboots on 4.1.26 and 4.1.52

I noticed when my Atrix would reboot itself, it was USUALLY when GPS was in use. I know Speedtest sometimes uses GPS to determine which server to use, which might explain this? Just a guess though.

I've only had one reboot but messing with GPS caused it. Basically I went in and out of the navigation app 4 times. I can't remember why lol.
OP: Do you leave your gps on all the time? Maybe try turning it off for a day or 2 and see if that improves your situation.
Ive only had one reboot to date as well and it was also GPS related. I had just installed the update last night, and went into the app GPS status. it locked up and rebooted the phone. only time its ever happened...?
weird
I think the reboots are associated with polling.. if not polling then some underlying data send/receive issue.
i've also had about 3 random reboots in the past week, i'm currently running 4.1.57
My phone recently starts to reboot by itself too.
Running 4.1.57, rooted, and Webtop mod.
Most of the time it happens when I try to wake up the phone. The phone would not wake up and then reboot itself after a while.
At least with the update the issue is the phone randomly reboots when there is
1. Low Signal
2. Coming off wifi and unable to reconnect data.
Pretty much when the device loses the data connection and cannot reconnect it reboots. Been worse since the 1.57 update.

when I've had random reboots, (about 2 of them since the 1.57 update) I've noticed that each time the phone was busy pulling something from teh internets, and would just jam-up. Maybe there's a buffer overload or something and the phone has to reset to clear its cache?
Then again, I know NOTHING about internets, except how to watch pr0n and dl torrents.
I too, have never had a single random reboot.
I've had 3 reboots in the past week alone. Mine usually happen at the beginning of a phone call. I'm getting sick of having to call the person back and explain that my phone just rebooted.
Anyone heard of any updates on this issue ?
I wanna know if anyone else has this issue or not when click an app like a game it takes up to 10 seconds for it to run and after exiting sometimes the main screen is very delayed and sometimes unresponsive when scrolling left and right. I also have an issue of the phone not wanting to switch back to 4g if in 3g or 1x just stuck until I reboot or restart it. Wanna know if I should get this one replaced or not. Also GPS is horrible never accurate. It say in running little kids on the sidewalk over constantly or running threw people house. I have factory data restored it but same problem. Need to know if I need new one?

It does happen. Try a different kernel or over clocking.
this happens to me occasionally, usually only when the battery is hot/doing a LOT of things at once. (meaning when i'm charging and using pandora over bluetooth, wireless tether, and waze at once) the phone lags up so much that when i press the home button, the haptic vibrate stays on for about 3 seconds.... this is when i know that its happening - and i'll just pull the battery...
If you're running stock & it's been like that since day one, you might consider exchanging it. If you're running a custom rom/kernel, reflash & leave it at default settings for a few days & see if the problems resolve

I've never had the lag issue you speak of, however, the gps issue I have seen, but has been fixed in recent custom roms and will be addressed in the update. If you are on stock, you might want to just wait it out for 9 more days till the OTA rolls out. If you are using a custom rom/kernel combo, what are you using?

I also forgot to mention that i'm on BAMF 1.8 with the kernel that it comes with.
If your rooted, i'd recommend unchecking your "set at boot" and profiles in SetCPU, reboot, and see if it continues. As said above, if unrooted... a call to verizon may be in order.
My phone is not rooted every phone I have rooted besides like 2 I have bricked. But yeah I don't get why they didn't run this stupid phone a dule core. I got to play with a phone that had a dule core and response is so amazing.
Then you should take it back to verizon & exchange it for another. Your Tbolt shouldn't be like that out of the box. I've never had GPS issues, even on stock it would lock within a few seconds. And dual core is overrated unless you have apps that actually take advantage of it (not many). No wonder you were impressed with dual core phones lol. My mildly overclocked Tbolt runs Sense just as fluidly as any Atrix runs MotoBlur

im wondering if it is the speed scripts? i am using eclipse 1.1 now so im going to see if that fixes it. but i have been getting the freeze when unlocking the phone, and sometimes randomly when im using the phone the screen goes 100% unresponsive...the buttons work, but nothing else...then after about a min or two it comes back..VERY annoying...
Do u reboot or clear system caches on a regular /daily basis? This may help.
Sounds like things are getting clogged up. I used to have that problem a while ago before I started rebooting once a day. Usually when I wake up and sometimes twice a day. It is healthy for an android phone to be rebooted once a day. Just plain works better.
oh this has happend right after a SBF or a reinstall of an OS, so there was not even a day on it. it happened this morning once when i unlocked the phone BUT i had that speedy script installed, i resotored from a back up before i installed that scrpit so im going to see if it happens again....i hope it is not hardware related..

I have also been running the speedy script v6 . I only made one change and that was deleting the 3gturbo entries in the one script. And I haven't had this problem yet at all. Been running for two and half days now.
has this also happened on 2.3.3? i was wondering if it was a 2.3.4 issue?
Sounds like something clogging your memory. When I start fruit ninja my x2 screen goes unresponsive for up to 20 seconds I assume its just memory management during game startup. Are you using a task killer to maximize free ram? This will cause background apps that you may have killed to restart if they are called upon. That would cause the phone to bog down temporarily
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
nope no task killers at all. i noticed using system panel i was at only 77 mb using eclipse...

I guess I got pretty lucky with not getting reboots.
Even before I rooted and rom'd up I think I MAY have had one random reboot. I guess I just got lucky. Basically the only major problem I have had that others have os the music skipping I used to encounter lag occasionally but since I started my daily reboot routine lag is pretty null on most occasions.

I wonder the same been using eclipse straight up except for setting the min to 216 instead of 312 never had any issues period . Might be worth getting rid of speed scripts and see if that is the issue.
2.3.4 was made pretty much to fix the lockups and reboots. It might be something with your backups. I know I just used a backup a couple days ago after giving up on upgrading to 2.3.4 and until today when I finally upgraded to 2.3.4 it was slow, laggy and unresponsive. Mind you before that last nandroid, it was working amazingly.

The same exact thing happened to me when my Amaze was new. It shut down on it's own almost daily, but sometimes it would take a few days until it shut itself off and I think it went as long as 4 days one time. My phone is stock. I thought about returning the phone, but never got around to it and now that I have had it for a few months it has just stopped shutting off on it's own. I don't think I changed anything, but the phone works perfectly now.
I wish I could give a definitive answer on how to stop the shut down's, but I tried various things and nothing seemed to help. Somehow it fixed itself over time.

I'm in the same boat as the OP.
Bought the Amaze brand new and it would reboot itself 2-3 a day when it was just sitting on my desk at work or home.
I rooted it and removed the T-Mobile bloatware, made no difference.
I then put Bulletproof rom on it and made no difference.
I then put Faux123 kernal on it with the Bulletproof rom...no difference.
I got a new battery and it made no difference.
Phone just reboots 2-3 times a day. It locked up overnight last night and I overslept since I use it as an alarm too.
Dunno what else to do...

Changing from Stock kernal to Faux123's didn't resolve it for me either. In the Energy Rom thread a couple people said once they flashed his rom that their reboot's went away. I just flashed it today and we'll see what happens.
I'm still on Faux123's kernal with the Energy Rom. If it reboots still, I might switch back to Stock kernal with Energy Rom to see if that makes a difference.
Phone just locked up and rebooted using Energy Rom with Faux123 kernal. Just installed Stock kernal, we'll see what happens...
Well I'm stumped and frustrated. The Amaze is a great piece of hardware but it seems to have rebooting issues just like the LG G2x did.
I have the stock kernal with Energy Rom and I've wiped it and have no apps installed. And after a couple hours it still locks up and reboots.
I'm about ready to dump the phone.
No matter what kernal/Rom I use...it just reboots after a couple hours time...
Are you using any sort of task managers or probably a certain app causing it to reboot. Do a factory/data reset and don't install anything for 24hrs and see if the problems continue. Also, you should backup the contents of you external sdcard and re-format it. And do the same with your phones internal memory card. There could be a file on there (maybe from a previous Android Device) that is not cooperating with the Amaze. Just gotta figure it out. Good Luck.

I don't know if T-Mo will see it this way, but assuming you take, or have already taken, Double0EK's advice above, I'd try to get T-Mo to replace it as hardware defective. I've had zero reboots and I ran stock for 6 weeks and the Energy ROM for nearly two.
Everytime i boot my photon it stays on the word "now" for 30 seconds? Is this ok?
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Sadly I believe it is normal. My photon (which is rooted) takes 45s-1min to boot up which is quite pathetic I believe. I can't even show off my phone because most people start making fun of my phone when they see the word now for 30 seconds :/
cm 7.2 boots up for me pretty quickly defenitaly faster then the other roms i have played with
I guess i have to ask... 1) why would you turn your phone off before showing it to someone?
2) how often do you reboot where boot time is an issue? i reboot once a month tops. (unless i find myself having to switch batteries, which is also rare)
now i am just guessing here but i bet he wants to show off a custom boot animatiion.
Change your initial boot image, that way they aren't staring at the word now. its a cheap solution, but I did it and it beats the default.
On a side note, I don't like how long it sits on that screen, either.
Sent from my 1.3 OC'd CM7.2 Electrify.
I found out why it takes so long to boot... this is because it loads security platforms, features, applications, firewalls, etc. + it's just slow in plain english.
Sent from my Epic Touch running Blazer Rom via xda premium
Blur has a lot of services that start on boot. Significantly more than android source and as such takes a little longer to boot. As someone else said CM boots fast and that's due the less work to do on boot. I made myself a blur rom that was stripped of services and apps I don't use then deodexed, zipaligned for better ram usage, PNG optimized the system and framework to reduce the overhead and the end result was my phone wouldn't make it through the stock boot animation before it started painting the screen.
My goal was to just see how certain blur services played with others but it didn't take long for me to notice I had inadvertently increased boot time significantly over stock.
Cm7 and cm9 are rockets, fly and boot quickly!
