Frozen Ice 1.2.1 home button not working - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Installed Frozen Ice 1.2.1 - neither the "Hard" or "Soft" Home buttons will work - will have to search for Home button apps to overcome it - otherwise ROM seems fairly quick with better wifi signal than other ICS roms I have tried.
Anyone found a better solution to the home button not working?

Button Savior
Installed button savior from Play to restore home button functionality, an additional step, but it beats having to backup all the way to Home.
Also, one poster indicated they reinstalled keeping all apps and not installing gapps restored home button functionality

Button Savior Pro

So I have a broken home button, not going to repair it anytime soon as I've been using Button Savior Pro along with GB MIUI fine. I only have it so the button is the home button, no menu comes up
The problem however, when I flashed CheckROM V6, when setting it so the icon is the home button the phsyical lock button doesnt work, it either takes a screen shot or does nothing
I then flashed several ICS ROMS, MIUI, Stock ect ect and the same problem
Just want to know if other users are having this problem also, I know very few will even use this app but still worth asking
Thanks Joe
Flash cm9 and then onscreen buttons
Why I didnt think of that before..
Thank you

[Q] waking phone from home button shows home screen instead of app i was last on

Hi, i have an international Galaxy S3 (i-9300). I recently updated to Jelly Bean via Samsung Kies (baseband version I9300DXDLI5) and there's a change that has been bugging me. In stock ICS, when the screen turned off due to inactivity, pressing either the power button or the home button would turn on the screen and lets me pick up where i left off. Now in JB, pressing the home button to wake the phone will take me to the home screen. Pressing the power button to wake the phone in both ICS and JB works as normal.
For example, I'm browsing the web on Opera Mobile. The screen times out and turns off. In ICS, when i press the home button, the screen would turn on and i could continue browsing. In JB, when i press the home button, the screen would turn on but take me back to the home screen. Pressing the power button works but the home button is bigger and easier to press.
Anyone knows a fix for this?
I'm running stock JB and not rooted.
Thanks so much
It's a known issue. There's no fix for it on the stock ROM, but there is a workaround - use a different launcher, such as Apex or Nova. The issue only affects the default Touchwiz launcher.

Not true. I use Nova Launcher (the paid version) and I also experience this problem (or is it a feature?).
The workaround I found is to wake the phone using the POWER button instead of the HOME button.
I found a fix\workaround (no root needed) to this please see the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1929953
looks like that wasn't a work around.
Any updates on this?
I don`t seem to have that issues.. Goes right back to whichever apps I was using. Tried a bunch of apps too.
The bug happens only if you have disabled S-Voice.
If you have S-Voice enabled (double press home button) then you will not encounter this bug. But the trade off is the Home Button action is delayed.
Yes its either you have to enable s-voice but I don't like this idea so I use jkay framework. In jkay framework the issue is solved along with many other features and mods. Try it out

I went through that thread from start to finish, the only suggestion was actually a workaround.
Basically enable S-Voice, but at the trade of slowing down your home button.
How did you fix the issue uronfire?

[Q] Remap/change hardware button functionality?

Hi, I found some old threads about changing keylayout and stuff, but nothing recent (you know: since JB) and I just got the phone yesterday.
Right now, the phone does this:
Menu button press: menu
Menu button hold: Google Now (search)
Home button press: Home
Home button double-press: SVoice
Home button hold: Recent Apps
Back button press: Back
And I would like it to do this:
Menu button press: Recent Apps
Menu button hold: menu
Home button press: Home
Home button double-press: nothing
Home button hold: Google Now (search)
Back button press: Back
I'm kinda surprised that I can't find an app for this, as it really just seems like I'd be changing a little bit of text inside some config/layout files.
FWIW, I'm running completely stock but I rooted it yesterday. No ROM has been flashed, and I would love to keep it that way. Any help is greatly appreciated!

My thread got pushed off the front page faster than I could find Google Now on my new phone.

Thanx - nice find!
It still doesn't accomplish what I want, though... And I am a HUGE proponent of keeping things simple. My least favorite thing about Windows 8? All those muthereffin gestures that you need to memorize. It's not simple, and you have to completely relearn how to use an OS that you've been using for ages.

[Q] Reppaping Menu Button

I would like to remap the capacitive menu button to the recent apps switcher (default long press of the home button)
and then remap the LONG press of the menu button to the menu function (I need the ability to use the menu button when within the stock samsung apps like messaging, because they use fixed layouts and their apps are designed without the menu overflow.)
also my question is would apps still detect the phone as having a hardware menu button? I would like to be able to have apps have the menu button and not rely on the hardware.
then maybe since I would no longer need the home button long press possibly remap that to kill the current app? (that is not as important but just a side note)
I have looked EVERYWHERE and can not find a viable way to do this on the stock rom. thanks

Home button acting weird

Hi
I have a galaxy s3 with cm11 and boeffla kernel. Today, out of nowhere, my home button and menu button started acting weird. I have the home button setted to sleep my phone on long press and wake it up when the screen is off and do nothing on double press . The menu is set to open the recent apps. It has always worked this way till today.
When I press the home button inside an app it won't return to the home but it still wakes the phone when the screen is off. Also the menu won't open the recent apps and it doesn't vibrate either. The back button still works but does not vibrate. I used gravity box to activate the navigation bar and the home button doesn't work on the navigation bar either.
I tried installing upgrating my firmware to the latest nightly, wipe cache and dalvik but no luck.
You won't repair a modded framework, wipe and start again.
So I need to do a factory reset? Is there a way to know what happened? I didn't touch anything. Is it possible that some xposed module caused this?
