So Jelly Bean is anounced but when will the S3 get it?
What is your oppinion?
Leave your thoughts. Or if you have news of update it would be great.
Samsung insiders have apparently said Q3 2012 which is any-time between now and end of September, most likely true.

That would be saweeet. I'm not saying that I don't believe you because I want this to happen, but given Samsungs track record with this, I'm a little wary. Maybe since Google and Samsung have been courting each other for a while, Sammy has had access to information that will help them get out releases earlier than usual?

All OEM'S including Samsung and HTC will have had JB sources for a while now.
Whatever reliable info you hear about release just add 2 months because Samsung's always late.

There is a very big difference. My only concerns are how well will the smoothness seen in the Nexus with the stock launcher carry over into Touchwiz and how or if Samsung will integrate Google Now since it does some things that Samsung has tried to do with their own software.
I think I am possibly one of the only people who doesn't give a sh!t. Not sure why. It comes when it comes and I'm happy with that.
When ics is stable then I'll worry about jelly bean.
are you guys ok without flash support on JB?... that's the very reason why i won't upgrade even if it comes early...

Why would you "worry" about jelly bean when ics gets stable? Think of jelly bean as an ics+ that makes ics better.. Wouldn't it be good to have? I don't think ics is getting more stable when 4.1 is here..

Thats the only thing i dont like TW coz of updates... they have to rework every new android version to become suitable with it.

yeah go for it, there is no gurantee it will be Nov anyway !!
Root it, have a play and then you can try some of the Unofficial JB roms now :good:
Official JB for i9100 will be released in November, not earlier.
So, try CM10. It's stable and smooth.

Maybe we should dream your dream, mate. It's a good one.
Root root root
Just root your phone! Even the Galaxy S3 hasn't received the update in most regions... The S2 is lower priority for Samsung. When all S3s get the update we should expect the update a week from then. JUST ROOT IT FOR NOW.
Next month, the new Samsung Galaxy S3, its predecessor the Galaxy S2, and the original Galaxy Note, are set to get their much awaited Android Jelly Bean OS update (October). Good news is that the Jelly Bean OS is the answer to security flaw of the TouchWiz UI.
This month of September, Samsung have started to rollout the latest Android update from the Ice Cream Sandwich to the Jelly Bean OS. Please note that the Kies-supported Android rollout is limited to the country Poland only. Samsung recently said in an e-mail that the company claims that more countries will start getting the Android Jelly Bean update soon and schedules may vary by market and wireless carriers.
So other than being able to use the latest Android flavor on the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Note, this Jelly Bean rollout to fix issued related to the phone’s TouchWiz. According to some reports, a hacker has confirmed that Samsung’s custom skin under the Ice Cream Sandwich update has added risk in allowing hackers to remotely wipe clean or disable any data on the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note and the Galaxy S2.
Maybe it is because of this that Samsung already started the rollout to their new Galaxy S3’s to simply fix the said security flaw? The sad part is that not all devices are included in the list of phones to receive the Jelly Bean update. Samsung also urges their Galaxy S3 customers to download and install the said software.
Again, a post made by the Android Police stated that the Jelly Bean alone can fix the current security flaw. The said site also explained that “We have confirmation that this exploit is also fixed in Jelly Bean, as well, so any device running Android 4.1 should be safe.”

Hi,
Yesterday manually updated my Galaxy S3 which was on stock ICS (Never been rooted) to Jelly Bean 4.1.1 using odin (Got the firmware from Sammobile), but the camera and the gallery app seem to be the same as in ICS.
But when i go onto the official jelly bean website it says they have updated the camera app and the gallery app. Anybody know about this and how to fix it?
Thanks in Advance.
I think they meant in terms of performance rather than appearance, the Note 2 is the only device I know of that's got a decent gallery app lol

I checked there website again, and its says:
"Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, made snapping photos super fast; Jelly Bean brings that same speed to the next step: viewing. Just swipe over from camera to filmstrip view to instantly view the photos you just took, and quickly swipe away the ones you don’t like. Now sharing — and bragging — are a breeze."
But on mine you can swipe or nothing its the same old app from ICS.
What's the website?? because I'm sure that's not a feature of our device

My man, you are looking at the features of AOSP based ROM and comparing against Stock apps..that feature is present in any AOSP based ROM CM10 for eg. Samsung has made its own Camera app which is present in the Stock ROM...the implementation is different..so if you want the vanilla Android features try AOSP based ROMs and not compare it with Stock ROM..

I'm sorry if I have spoiled your uptight high looking tupe thread with a simple question about an update that samsung mentioned was to roll out late september and others have already had, so I deemed logical to ask such a question in a forum that people much more up to date could potentially be inclined to answer.

Hi
I am running xxlsj for a few days and its good with Nelp4 modem.
I was wondering for an optimal performance os for galaxy s2. Will it be ginger bread or ics or jb?
I know there are custom roms kernels etc available but I am only interested in stock roms so please keep it to the subject.
Any thoughts?

for battery life: Gingerbread
for performance: Jelly Bean (although there's only AOSP builds afaik)
I'd go with a ICS stock-based ROM like WanamLite
If you want only stock roms, go with ICS. It's more recent and have many options that GB don't have.
Notice that really official Samsung stock, there isn't any JB versions yet, but Samsung claims that will release it until the end of this year.
There is a Samsung JellyBean leaked that you can use, but it's not an original stock release, keep that in mind.
Search for xxlsj on google and you will find your below statement incorrect in regards to jellybeans for gs2. I am already using jelly beans leaked "official" version.
Thanks for your input though.

Leaked versions are not releases.

He specifically has the word "release" in his post. So he mentioned it. You seem to dispute the existence of a "release" by saying his statement is incorrect, and you are using the leak as evidence of this.
There is no cynicism here. I interpreted what you said in the context of the response to his post. If that's not what you meant, then clarify.

You mean G4&Xperia Z P V3.0? Yeah, it's really cool, I have used it for more than 10 hours...
Indeed, if you're looking to be on the cutting edge in terms of Android Version, you should definitely go for custom ROMs.
Some Stock-base ROMs (like Revo HD or Omega) are already running latest 4.2.1 leaked firmware from Sammy.
AOSP Roms are practically all on 4.2.2 by now, and some of them are extremely stable and fast (running Temasek v83... just out of this world)
If you're all about official OTA upgrades, then I wouldn't be too sure about April, they usually announce firmware upgrades a good month before release. That's what happened for ICS on S2, which is approx. equivalent to 4.2.2 on S3 in terms of product lifecycle.

I think that Samsung will release 4.2.2 for Galaxy S3 only when Galaxy S4 will sell a lot. For now,I think that first we get 4.2.1.
why release 4.2.2 when they can release 5.0?
