hi everyone,
I have just bought my GS3 for a month
and I have installed lots of apps including
some goodies from GAMELOFT.
My internal storage is running out with those tonnes of games and apps.
To solve it, I try sth called app2sd but i found it wasnt working in GS3.
So i started to read more related articless..
then I found sth called GL to SD and Link2sd...
Then I root it and try both of the solutions.
Unfortunately, GL to SD isnt a good option as some of the games isnt working on it. (the data could be moved to the SD card but some of the games cant be mounted)
Then I tried link2sd. I have correctly partitioned my 32gb samsung micro SD
into a 15gb ext3 partition and mounted successfully in link2sd.
but the problem is that the displayed apps were found too small. it cannot recognize the data package (it displayed 30mb for DH3 and 14MB for sixguns, see the attachment)
Can someone tell me what's happening and what I should do to move my games to the SD card correctly??
Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!

SGS3 not support app2sd.You can try "DirectoryBind app" to move the data of such the games
Thank you, i ll take a look of directorybind today,
Anyone else using link2sd on gs3 ? Please give me some more idea

Hello, I have rooted my x10 m pro via superoneclick..then did the 2gb sdcard partition with easeus leaving a result of one 1,5gb fat32 part and another 350mb aprox fat part. Then installed link2sd and everything works fine, I moved all may user apps from the internal memory to the sd partition with root explorer, then did a test downloading and installing some random app from market and link2sd did the right job by installing it directly to the sdcard partition.
But theres a little problem, I downloaded plants vs zombies apk wich size is almost 75mb and its located in the 1,5gb sdcard partition. When I try to install this apk it tells me that theres no enough space. I checked that partition and it has +300mb free, almost the same that the internal memory has and if I try to install it from the internal memory the same warning message appears. Its like link2sd is not doing its job because it doesnt link the installation to the sdcard partition. Any ideas???
Cmon guys, any advice? I wasn´t able to install another apk of 40mb from the sd card, I cant figure out how to install this stuff that doesnt come from the market (I have checked the option to install non market apps)
Try installing a new ROM
sometimes the APp2 Sd and Link2sd don't actually work. best is to try installing a new rom, probably Froyo comb 1.5. there u have a setting to install directly on to the apps. try that
The reason it says not enough space because, the app is first installed in phone memory and then linked to sd card!
Hi
i just rooted my sgs2 and i got 16gb external sd card, i have seen lots of good apps and i want to install them but before that i have read that some people recomend to install apps2sd to save space on the phone but other said that with that amount of space you dont need to install this app, also i readed that some roms dont support the app, so its good idea to install apps2sd???
I really like apps and i will check 3 or 5 roms. If its a good a idea, should i install first, before any other app??
Greetings from MX

I don't know apps2sd.
But it sounds like it moves your apps to the external sd card.
That can also be done with stock Android system: Setting > Applications > SD card.
Then click on the app you want to move and say move to sd card.
I had some apps on my external sd card, but some apps are loaded a little bit later/slower, when they are on the external sd card.
So, I recommend that all apps, which you need very often and especially direct after booting the phone, should stay on the internal sd card.
And after flashing some "early" ICS Rom versions, I lost my apps which were on the external sd card.
I had to re-install them from Play store.
But this was only an issue of some ICS ROMs/kernels, and should be fixed now.
Anyway, that caused me to move all apps back to the internal sd card.
I just want to be on the "safe side" ;-)
you should absolutely not install app2sd (the app of that name), because the functionality is already present in all roms.
in settings -> apps you can move apps.
however, in contrast to the previous post, apps are moved between the /data/ partition of the internal sd card and the /sdcard/ partition of the internal sd card.
as you might know, /data/ has 2GB, /sdcard/ has about 12GB. You can check on your current storage space occupation in settings -> storage.
if you have enough free space on data, leave your apps there, as sdcard is a universal storage space, that can also contain music, photos, videos and so on and since this space is also accessible to users that are not rooted, it is more versatile and therefor more valuable.
Since both partitions are on the same sd card, you don't have to worry about speed differences.
After moving some apps using apps2sd I had to restore a nandroid because it messed up my system.

great i wont install apps2sd, but now what kind of files or info is recommended to be in the external SDcard?
I have on the external sd card my movies, music, photos and videos recorded with the phone camera, my titanium backup folder, few custom rom zip files, nandroids etc.

^Ditto. Keep your media and big files on external SD, keep your apps on the internal app memory if you can (its around 2gb in size, unless you go over that there is no need to put apps on SD).

Pretty much a obvious question for most people . Do install it ! It moves apps to SD ( wow ) , clearing space for many many other stuff . So , why not install it ?
Thank me if i helped ~
well iam fully loaded an my opinion is the app notifies u wen u install a app,but on the hard core side wen many apps r moved to sd ,ive crashd sometimes..i think it was better if there was a option to store apps directly on the ext sd card instead of phone or int sd card...
Try GL to SD from the market, posted a threat like this a month ago and someone recommend me this.

Dear Masters,
Need your help again.
I am using the application LINK2SD for transferring my applications to SD card. But what I see is, there is some memory still used from the phone memory even after moving that application.
So, I want to know what can be the reason for that and is there any way to move that data part to SD card?
Please do guide because as per me this is not making any sense in rooting the device as still my phone memory gets low.
Hope that solution gets resolved as always.
Chin2.
Sadly Link2SD cannot link app data, and so internal memory will still be taken up by this. The only way around it is to install JaggyRom (or else install a custom kernel with ext2/3/4 support and a data2SD script, but JaggyRom would be simpler I think) and use it's app2SD functionality instead of Link2SD.
There are various ways to move app data to SD, but they all seem to require the second partition on your SD card to be an ext partition, rather than a FAT partition, and ext partitions are not supported by the stock kernel. I have yet to come across any app or script which will move app data to a FAT formatted 2nd SD card partition.
Thanks
SifJar,
Thanks for your reply, I have already got JaggyRom in my HTC explorer and also downloaded APP2SD from play store, will this suffice? Or I need to add any Kernel or anything like that?
And what about the partitioning of SD card? can you put some light on that as I am a newbie to Android.
Thanks once again.
Chin2.
If you have JaggyRom, you don't need any app from Play Store. It comes with A2SDGUI preinstalled and has an apps2SD script already configured. All you need to do is create a second partition on your SD card. You need to connect your SD card to a computer (via a card reader, NOT your phone), get a partition manager (e.g. MiniTool Partition Wizard) and shrink your current FAT32 partition. Then make a new partition (not sure which is the best format, I think ext4, but ext2 and ext3 should work too) and make sure you also make this partition primary. (So both partitions will be primary). You'll want to make this partition reasonably large. Mine is about 700MB and I use about 500MB roughly with about 85 apps installed.
Once this is done, put it in your phone and start it. Then use A2SDGUI to move apps to SD card (don't move system apps, I don't think it will allow you to anyway), and I think it should automatically move any new apps you install in the future.

It is normal to have some kilobytes left there.I have a sensation and it always leaves some data on the phone and it isn't a lot.
The stock kernal can support ext2 partition so even without jaggyrom u can do it.
htcexplorergames.blogspot.com
All compatible HD games for explorer
This is my blog all the games are tested by me and working fine,If you want old games just post it here and I will add it both the apk and sd data with instruction

Are you sure? I have never seen that anywhere else, everywhere else says stock kernel only supports FAT32.
Low internal memory
I had Recently installed Jaggyrom for my explorer but having application problems.I had Already Created ext2 partion and Fat32 both are primary.I have also Enabled app2sd on sd card but application still consumes my Internal memory. Please Help me out !
Hahahaha ! If you are clever enough so try modifying apk of sims freeplay for explorer !

Have you made ext-2 partition on your sd card ?
Hello!
I received my new phone(EVO 3d) and I just love this phone. Taking photos has never been better .
But to the point, I have a problem with app2sd and with sd card itself. When I moved apps to sd and in some time, those apps I moved didn't show anymore. I check in application tab and there they were but without icon of app just black img with android symbol and sd card next to it. How to solve this?
Another problem is with SD card. I bought gameloft games(Amazing spiderman) and it has 1.2gb download files. But phone got only 1gb primary storage. So I downloaded sd files over internet and moved on sd card and game launch without problem? How to does sd card works with this phone? I see when I connect my phone to computer there is only 1 disk for everything(with sd and internal). I had samsung galaxy s before so its a lot differend, because sgs had 5gb internal + 1gb storage + 16gb sd.
Hope someone can help
Cheers
The missing icon on app is something that was fixed with one of the Gingerbread updates about nine months ago. What ROM are you running?
When I connect my phone to my computer, it shows the full amount of my sd card as a drive. I do not even see the internal memory.
I have using stock 4.0.2 OTA since I got this phone 4 days didn't root yet cuzz this s-off etc. is kinda annoying to do(for now ).
However I fixed the problem. I was searching on google and someone mentioned that app2sd makes a folder on sd that you shouldn't delete! I did delete cuzz I needed space for downloading movie. So if anyone got this problem, dont delete folders in sd.
Cheers
I recently rooted my phone because his internal storage is too small and my sd card has 8gb and is not used at all.
But, I don't know which apps to use, I've tried few like Link2SD but i need to buy it so I can link my games...
Suggest me an free app to use for moving games to sd card (moving whole games or just most of data)
Btw, I heard that I need to partition my sd card, could you tell me is this it
