Can colour of back cover affect the quality of photo? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hello,
i am going to buy SXS just because of camera. And i know it is ridiculus, but i got an idea if white back cover of phone cant make photo too bright. Because the sun´s rays are all reflected from white back cover and it can lower the quality of photo by adding a too much light there. However black back cover absorb the sun´s rays, which are not subsequently reflected from cover.
I know that the rays are not reflected from cover straight into lens (it is not possible), but even though i rather ask you people what do you think about that. Dont treat me like a fool, i am just a person who is deciding whether to buy white or black SXS.
All in all, it is crazy theory perhaps. If it was as i say, mobile companies wouldnt make white mobiles. But can you tell me your opinion? I will appreciate it. Thanks.

It's a Joke isnt it??????

No need to worry. There is no way any reflected light can get in the lens. From the inside everything is shielded properly. The covers are quite solid, I doubt light would be able to penetrate it.
So no, the photo quality on the white and black one isn't different. It'll be exactly the same. Which means you just take whichever you consider prettiest

They're not talking about reflect sun light into lenses.
The effect here is with exposure and how black and white color reacts under sunny or artificial light.

Blue Vertical Lines In Sunlight

Hey guys. Was out and about the other day and was using my phone and as I tilted the phone down out of the glare of the sun I noticed some weird vertical lines on my screen. Each evenly spaced same colour etc.
I can not replicate the effect unless there is large amounts of light or im outside in real light. BEAR IN MIND ITS ONLY VISIBLE AT CERTAIN ANGLES.
The lines don't appear on any pictures or hinder the video. They ar only visible during sunlight.
What im wondering has anybody else got this I will say issue. Or any insight as to what it could be? If there's a problem Carphone warehouse will want to repair it and not give me a swap for a new phone. What light does anyone have to share. Or am I just being paranoid?
My Titan is exactly the same, I think its just the way the screen works and is nothing to worry about.

I've got mine from Carphone warehouse. Haven't noticed this yet. They will replace it for you within 28 days. Else it goes to HTC for repairs. However, where did you find this sunlight? It's been so gloomy out here. BTW as mentioned above, this could be just the normal screen behaviour. The other two issues with screen that have come up so far are - the pink dot in the middle and grey keys visible on white background. Nothing back from HTC.
Hold your Titan with the screen directly facing you, at about 3/4 arms' length (as in, just sorta normally with your elbow bent a little) under diffuse light, with the phone powered up and the screen off.
Then tilt the phone backwards. As you get about 3/4 of the way back, you might see a regular pattern of thin stripes running up and and down on the screen.
They are not visible when the screen is powered up. I think it's just a normal part of the way the LCD panel works. As an analog, on my Dell Venue Pro, I could see a grid of dots under its AMOLED screen when looking closely at an oblique angle similar to as described above.
I also have a matte finish screen protector on my Titan, which might be making this more pronounced. In any case, it is absolutely *not* happening when the screen is powered up -- even in black areas of the screen.
Hmmm... Maybe it's a future charging grid.
have you guys noticed anything new in regard to htc amaze blue lines. i just go the phone a week ago and i have been noticying the same things. any new info thank.
My Titan also has these blue vertical lines, and it is seen only in daylight with screen off.
I see the same too but I thought it was from my screen protector...

Screen Viewing Angle

Hi,
I've had my Xperia S for a few weeks now and I love it, almost everything about this phone suits me.
BUT there's something that's REALLY been bugging me from day 1.
Everybody says that the screen on the Xperia S is the best you can get at the moment; high PPI, quality, colour etc.
But the one thing I absolutely hate about this phone is the viewing angle. This phone in my opinion must have the WORST viewing angles I've ever seen. You look at the phone directly and it's awesome - beautiful colours, but as soon as you tilt it slightly away from the direct angle, the colours change dramatically. Blacks become grey, all the colours turn white, looking at it actually makes me nauseous and gives me a headache. Every other position except from the 'sweet spot' I don't feel comfortable with and was considering selling the phone just because of the screen as it's the most important for me.
This is worst, because I use my phone a lot in bed and viewing angles really matter. I'm so used to seeing AMOLED, IPS and LCD (with GOOD viewing angle) screens, that using this phone makes me uncomfortable (dizzy) sometimes, but I've gotten used to it now, so I'm unsure if I should sell.
Does anybody else feel the same?

that is because you are accustomed to AMOLED, i feel the exact opposite
I actually prefer to view it slightly off centre, images / video look over contrasted to me particularly with the mobile bravia engine enabled.
I find the image also looks more uniform if you view it slightly off centre.
Either there is something wrong with your phone or your another one of these fussy sods.
I can look at my phone from an angle and its fine, but why the hell would you use your phone at an angle anyway!

Call me fussy if you want. It seems you have never been annoyed or frustrated at something you bought in your life. Good job *thumbs up*!
Testing using a image of a gradient as an example. I went on Google and searched for 'blue', a few images down there is a gradient picture (attached). Display it on your phone, and tilt it any angle until the bright middle section completely disappears, for me a left/right tilt is about 20 degrees until it's significantly noticable and at 45 degrees becomes a solid colour and I can't see the middle bit anymore. This isn't apparent with any other phone I've had.
As I said, I like to use my phone in bed and sometimes it's not possible/comfortable to constantly hold the phone at the right angle.
I have to agree. The viewing angles are bad. It has about the same viewing angels as most laptops. I don't know how it is in comparison with other lcd phones since I used an amoled phone before.
And yes I am really fussy about most things. I can find faults with every phone but I can live with it.
But if you done your homework you would know that an LCD screen has poor viewing angles compared to a AMOLED or Super AMOLED screen.
Maybe before owning the phone you should have experimented with just how good/bad the viewing angles were by trying one in a shop before committing.

I know that LCD is going to have a bad viewing angle compared to an AMOLED, everybody knows this. But I've owned a lot of phones with LCD screens in the past before, but none of them have had such a poor viewing angle as this one.
Try that gradient test with any other LCD screen you have, I'm sure the viewing angle would be better than the one on the Xperia.
In hindsight, testing the phone in a shop would have been best, but when you're that excited to get a new phone, buying online before release is what a lot of people would have done.
I dont see what the issue is. Lcd always has a more limited viewing angle.
My XperiaS is fine for me. My eyes are straight ;-)

I just love how you had to go hunt down an image to show the problem.
While watching a video or looking about the net or even looking at pictures on your phone there is no issue when looking at the screen from an angle, witch is what I'm doing now. All the colours look fine and I can see what's on the screen fine as well.

Who cares? I never and don't want to look at the screen from the side
I love it, and i never used a Amoled phone so 4 me it's ok like the way it is
Had them all, iPhone,HTC,SGN,and now my EPS and it's by far the best yet, as for using it at an angle.... why?

A phone with an angle might be even better, since someone is less likely to be able to read or see what you do if he is not supposed to do so.
I like the screen a lot,it looks great,it performs well in bright light and the angles are fine as well. I used an OG Droid before, the XPS's display is so much better.
If you don't like it,go and exchange the phone.
Tried it in my car to use the sat nav, the screen is wonderful, in sunlight the screen is still as clear as it normally is which is crystal!! Love the screen. Better then other high powered phones out there

Why
Why would you want to look at the screen from a angle there is absolutely no reason for it
My thoughts also,I use my phone in bed every night, but hold it straight with on prob what so never!

I should have pictured that people who obviously own the phone are going to defend it.
From most of the replies, people think I use my phone at an angle. This isn't the case. The problem I have is that the viewing angles are poor, which leads to colours being easily shifted and this can become quite distracting especially on a mobile where it's constantly being moved/tilted. Like a shade of grey will change from dark to light with just a slight movement, if you can't notice this, get your eyes checked, if you don't care, I don't mind.
If it's all good for you that's fine. I was only trying to see who had the same mindset as I do. I can gather that a lot of you haven't seen a quality screen before. Resolution isn't everything.
i come from a galaxy s. Amoled is better in every way more vibrant colours, brighter, better viewing angles, etc. Not mentioning xperia s's resolution, the plus side on the xperia s is having a more natural colour, galaxy s is a little yellow while xperia s shows real colours. For the viewing angles, yeah it is a little bothersome even a 10 degree tilt will make it slightly blurry, if it had a 20 degree tilt viewing angle that would be fine that would be great but all in all i can live with it. At least on the train you will have privacy
I've come from Samsung Galaxy nexus, and I have to say it's better, colours are more natural it just pops, wife has iPhone4 and the screen on that looks pants compared to the experia s.

White Glowing in Pictures

Every time I take a picture that includes white, the white looks like it is glowing.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Pic below:
http://blog.spydietalk.com/image/34756701651
Check your exposure settings, you might be set too high. You can long press on the shortcuts at the top of the screen (assuming you're on stock) and add exposure to the shortcuts if you want too, so you can change them easily. I assume you're not using a flash, right? That could be the culprit too if the subject is lit well enough.
Could be your case also. IF you have one of those clear cases they tend to cause the camera to do that when the flash goes off.....not with all but some...just an idea
Turn the exposure down.
Mine looks exactly like this if I haven't cleaned the lens in a while. All the saltwater in the atmosphere here depositing junk on the lens.
First try different camera apps..If you see the exact light spots in different camera pictures..I would pull back case off there's 9 little screws..and use a wedge tool atounf the chrome casing and the glass..pulls off easy..abd clean the back of the lens..very easy to do..sometimes dust gets in there from the speaker and blows around...

[Q] White outline in pitch black images, faulty screen?

Hey guys, I've never posted here, I mostly just lurk and try to learn things.
My question is a bit difficult to explain but I'll try my best. Do me a favor and take a photo while completely covering the camera lens, then view the photo in the gallery. Make sure youre in a dark room and viewing the photo in full screen, wait a second for the back and task manager buttons to turn off as well.
Is your picture completely black or are the outside edges and corners fuzzy and white almost?
My previous phones are Galaxy S1, 2, 3 and 4 along with the Note 3 (which I miss :/ ) never had a problem like this, I do believe some GS2s had a similar problem with the screen being spotty in black images.
thanks.

Hello there, I did a test for you on mine, when i was in my room with my lights on but completely covered the lens and mine came out fuzzy. It seems that the s5 camera is very powerful picking up the slightest bit of light !
Then I turned off the lights in my room and did the same test, this time it was pitch black.
Did you try turning all your lights off in your room?
Thanks for your input, my initial test was in a room with the lights off. Looks so bad :/

I noticed that with my camera too. The exact same thing happens to me too when I cover the camera, in both lighted and unlighted rooms. But I'm pretty sure it's normal. When your ISO is on auto, you'll notice that the camera turns up the ISO past what you can manually set it at (800). So since they're bumping up the ISO so high (probably ~1600 in dark areas), there's going to be considerable amounts of noise, even with very low light.
You can see for yourself that if you compare auto ISO and ISO 800 in a dark room, the latter will be much more pitch black like you expect it to be.

Duff camera?

I think I have a duff camera on my new Z2, took some photos of a off white coloured box and a wooden desk and green horizontal banding on the photos. I also noticed what looks to be an oscillation in brightness when previewing a picture before taking the photo.
Has anyone else noticed this behaviour? I have requested a replacement as this is not something I have seen before and don't think it should be doing this.
The other query is about image stabilisation, stabilisation can be enabled in manual mode but cannot when using the superior auto mode, is this correct?
Thanks
Mine performs great. I'd ask for a replacement because it seems like a defect.
Fluorescent tube lighting by any chance?
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
There was fluorescent lighting but it didn't affect an iphone taking the exact same picture, my old Galaxy S3 wasn't affected by fluorescent lights either. If the Z2 is affected that badly by lights in the ceiling it is pretty crap and will definitely be getting a refund.
We will see if the replacement is any better but I don't have a huge amount of confidence that it will be.

Should be an attachment showing the banding on the photograph.
Point any digital camera near a fluorescent light and you'll see why I asked that. It's not constant light, they pulse and taking photos of white objects bounces the pulsing back to the camera, iphones may be different due to a rolling shutter what ever that means but I know for a fact galaxy s3 did the same because I had two of them and I spent a long time in my flourescently lit shed trying to take photos of white snakes.
Look here and read the section on disadvantages and sub section on flicker effect.
