Rooting opens the OS to a deeper level for the users .
Cracked apps posts are banned on XDA as many members are the developers you are stealing from .

Look under the sticky threads in Q&A and you should have posted there...

Rooting your phone means that you have full access and control to root of your phone..
You probably won't need it and probably if you are not aware of it can cause risk with no reasons. It's full of thread of bricked phone..
What I mean is that, Rooting process is easy, if you read post as suggested by other users in this thread, but if you are happy with your phone and do not feel any specific need to be solved with root do not do it.
One day you will find an app or a specific thing like "wow I love that modded Rom" which work only with rooting.. and so you will root your phone.
That's what happened to me 2 years ago and here in xda I found always all the answers to my issue!
Have fun with your android!

Rooting Samsung S111go allow easy UMS
Hi Guys
I understand the need to root, but have no idea where to begin.
Apparently i need to root my galaxy s3 in order to make use of the EASY UMS APP.
I cannot sync certain programmes that require mass storage.
This is now my 3rd post, but no one on XDA has replied. I am new to Android, having migrated from windows mobile.
I would really appreciate your feedback.

I had a similar problem.. Connected my Samsung S3 mobile to Samsung Kies installed on my Vista Laptop via the USB cable. On Kies Tools Menu, chose the Firmware upgrade and initialisation option.Took a backup of all data on the phone and proceeded with the upgrade process and it restored the phone back to its factory set options..problem resolved!

I wish I'd put it as he did. Having said that the stickys don't really get non programmers there (and maybe that's the idea). The above two links are not relevant to the sch I535. That was careless! NoobDroid is almost as bad with methods that don't work and Youtubes that frustrate.
I rooted a Droid no problem. The vzw are proving frustrating enough to make me change providers. I might go to SPRINT. I don't like vzw politics much anyway.

just flash latest cfroot with odin here's step by step guide for international galaxy s3 http://galaxys3root.com/galaxy-s3-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s3/

No option to "disable recovery flash"
I just got my brand new Galaxy S3 will Jelly bean and followed the instructions on this site.
Everything went fine and until Step 4
Using the custom recovery flash I installed the clockwork mod from my external SD card.
However the instructions say:
"•Upon exiting your custom recovery to reboot first time, you will be asked if you want to "Disable recovery flash", you MUST select Yes"
The problem is that when I exit to reboot I do not get the option to "Disable recovery flash", The phone just reboots.
I assume the phone recovery flashes when it reboots. How can I tell?
What are my options to continue?

[Q] Questions on upgrading from S to S2

Hi guys,
I have a rooted i9000 galaxy S and I'm thinking of getting an S2. This may sound thick, but will my apps work with the S2 or will I have to start fresh? I have some I bought from the market pre-root. will I have to buy again or is it all worked out by my google account? Also is there an easy root for S2 like the one click one I used on the i9000 as I hate bloatware. Hope someone can help.
All apps should transfer all mine did .
Root couple of posts in the dev section i prefer Chainfires Root and CWM .
Major difference on SGS 2 is the new custom rom counter on download screen but can be set to zero via USB jig .

That's great to know. It answers all my questions thanks for that

If you have the Original Product Code yes .
You can flash relevant stock rom or branded rom .

You flash a full firmware to either match your existing or a later one for an upgrade .
You pick CSC to match area of phone use .

Could anyone plz make a pro/con list of rooting or not rooting?!?

how can i find this?
Original product code on the box under the battery .
Rooting opens up the OS to give more user rights means user can backup full rom and use programs that require root . But until you need root dont bother as it invalidates warranty though root can be removed .

Simple Answer: The first rule of rooting: if you have to ask why you should do it, don't do it.
Complex Answer: As JJEgan stated, it gives you more freedom to do what you want to do. For example manipulating system files (for themeing, firewalls, adblocking, etc), flashing custom roms and more. But with this freedom comes great responsibility. Since you can do anything, you can do anything wrong thus damaging your phone or bricking it (making it unusable). And by that we arrive again at the first rule of rooting...
On a side note: please don't take this the wrong way but you shouldn't hijack a thread that has nothing to do with your question. Search the forums if it has been asked already and then post in the appropriate thread or open a new one.

New to smartphones and want to root.

There are a few things I would like to do that require root access. I am scared of messing anything up so any help I can get is greatly appreciated.
I would like to control cpu frequency using Antutu Cpu Master Free.
I would like to remove some bloatware apps from my phone also but I am not sure what I absolutely need to keep.
My Phone is the Galaxy S II sgh-t989 Android 4.0.3. My kernel version is 3.0.8-perf-T989UVLE1-CL508451.
What is the easiest way for me to root my phone without needing a custom rom?

[Q] Requesting infos on i9300 for future hacking!!

Hi to everyone!
I am new here but I have been on the i9000 forums for the last year and more.
My actual i9000 is quite hacked and I am going to get a i9300 with my phone provider next week.
I would like to understand just a few things to know if I'll be in some quite similar situation of hacking or if the i9300 is in some how different from i9000.
My questions are:
What are the differences between the two forums Galaxy S III Android Development and Galaxy S III Original Android Development ???
How do I go into Download and Recovery mode?
About ROOTING the i9300... Is there some website or Windows app and does that or must I flash something like a new kernel or what?
Is there a way to get some sound improvement for better sound and more volume as it was for i9000 with the Voodoo hack?
Is it possible to flash only a new kernel that gives root privileges, sound improvements and some other cool things? I ask this because I really don't know if I'll go for a complete ROM flashbecause I am a little bit tired in complete hackings
As the phone not bought by my self but related to a phone contract I need to be able to revert back to stock rom/kernel if the phone needs to go back to shop for something, so please tell me where to get stock firmwares and if I need some particular Windows app or know some particular procedure on how to flash.
I hope to have answers from you becuase I really need to understand what is having a i9300 not hacked alot coming from a i9000 that was really hack alot.

Samsung noob looking for root advice

Hi there,
as I'm totally noob on Samsung and I don't know really nothing about their devices - my brother in law gave me his business S3 (GT-I9300) for his vacation with the order to get him the current rom flashed.
Now, as I'm a HTC fanboy this is really pain as I'm currently trying to figure out what is needed to flash a custom rom.
I know an HTC needs to be unlocked/ s-offed/ rooted - but what about a Samsung?
Heard somewhen some words like Kies and Odin and am trying now a noob proof tool named SkipSoft Toolkit
I really lost overview here because all specific Samsung relevant words and explanations are like Alien language to me....
If someone could just point me to the steps I'd follow like
1. Unlock with ____link____
2. Root with
3. Recovery
4. other steps
I'd really appreciate your help!!
