i have a sc 6820 phone micromax a65.i installed cwm but cant root please help me..previously i go no reply but his time i got a hope to root this device by installing cwm
cwm is a utility to do more things with in recovery mode. This replaces stock e3 recovery, or you run CWM after going into e3 recovery
rooting is a separate package. Once you load up CWM recovery you then install a root package which installs files, roots the phone, and allows you to run superuser.
So generally you need CWM for your phone, and a root package for your phone.
Hello, i was wandering if i am able to root my device without flashing the rom or with a custom recovery. I am new at this, i recently got a samsung galaxy s3 mini and i want to root it, can someone help me with it. Thanks
As far as I know there is not a way to root your S3 Mini without installing a custom recovery, but I fail to see why you wouldn't install a custom recovery anyway.
Since you haven't rooted anything before I can see why you're timid about installing a recovery, but it would help a ton.
First of all, some root apps could possibly brick your device, since they are root apps and have access to the whole system, so if you're not careful, it is possible to get a virus that wipes your phone's OS. And you can't recover from that with the stock recovery.
That's partly why people install custom recoveries in the first place: Backups. And if you do decide to get a custom ROM, the stock recovery can't do that either. So I would HIGHLY recommend you just install the custom recovery anyway.

Hello
I have a Samsung i9100G running ICS 4.0.3, build no. iml74k.jplp6, baseband i9100gxxlpr, and kernel is 3.0.8 [email protected]#2
I used to have it rooted via "one click root", and had CWM recovery.
After installing Slimkat rom, the recovery automatically became TWRP.
One of my friends wiped the entire phone, and the only way to fix was to restore the original FW "I9100GJPLP6_I9100GOJPLP5_I9100GXXLPR_HOME.tar".
Now, I can not root it, install CWM or TWRP recovery to install any other ROM.
I have searched a lot on xda but I am a rookie.
What I know is I have to root first then install custom recovery, but I can not find the root tool for my device and the custom recovery.
Flashify, rom manager, and other tools always see both recoveries but can not execute anything.
You could try to use different root methods. I used KingoRoot for PC to root mine. Hope I got your problem...
Why cant you root it?
Can you boot into recovery of Stock ROM?
KingoRoot does not support i9100g.
I can boot to the stock recovery.
