Hello,
Does any one of You maby know that there is an app that will automaticly change 2g to 3g while internet connection is activated? (and vice versa)
Is it possibe?
Now, for better battery life, i'm changing 2g->3g manually each time i need internet. Phone keeps 50% time more on one charge.(!) I'm used to it but maby some one make it easier
Greets !
I'm not sure, since I've never used it, but I think an app like Tasker or Locale can help you with something like this.
I think Juice Defender could help you with this as well. I haven't used it in a long time, but I think there was an option to use 2g only until screen was on or something like that.

Hi,
I have my X10 like 2 weeks and i just decide to flash it with a custom room.
But i have some probleme.
My wifi connection dont want to connect itself,i need to delete my network and readd to can connect.
And when i disable my 3G network with apndroid or with the widget power control and reenable it later like 5 min it dont work i need to restart my phone to have the 3g connection back.
Thanks for your help.
Sorry for my bad english,i am frensh
why do french ppl always apologize for their english.. don't get me wrong though, you have all the right to apologize for your english
Anyhoo, what baseband you got going on your x10?
To check, go to settings --> scroll all the way down to 'about the phone' --> then it should say Basebandversion *.*.**
thats the number we need..
because you're french, and its common you guys just like to translate everything, baseband will be named like: bande de base, or bande étroite, or something like that
its 2.1.54
please flash 2.1.58.
3g, gps, wifi very good.

There is probably a way to do it through Terminal Emulator.. but can't seem to find how..
(great help huh )
Thx for your help.
You have any idea for the wifi?
When i typ su kill-server nothing happen.
however i cant post on the rom thread i need more post
One more post, and you are allowed to post there.. so you want to talk about the weather? It's lovely ain't it?
Anyway, about the wifi (and the other problems), I recommend you switch to Cyanogen CM7.0 RC2 v009 Gingerbread 2.3.3. As long as don't care that you can't record HD video, this ROM is faster and more stable (when it comes to wifi/BT.. thats my opinion).
I had the same problem with wifi kept disconnecting. Haven't really had that issue anymore now im using cm7.
(don't forget to 'downgrade' your baseband by flashing the included .52 baseband)
Why not if i have time this week end,i will flash my phone to CM7.
But can you tell me if the batterie will drain faster or not?
Actually i need to charge my phone everyday
I abuse my phone when it comes to usage, but i manage with ease to make it 1 day, with normal usage, 2 days. But have to say, that i normally don't pay that much attention to battery drainage. I sleep every night, and so does my phone (usually in the charger )
oki i sleep every night too
I probably update to CM7
Thx for your help
what kind of wifi network? I used advanced wifi configurator
its my personnal network at home
Hi hope someone can help.
I've bought an Xperian X10 mini for my daughter. She loves it. All her friends love it. The iPhone owners want one! (Big) but.....
She is not a heavy user, and so put her on a PAYG contract. However it is running out of credit very quickly, and when I checked the usage it is nothing she is doing, but some background app that is regularly (hourly) connecting with GPRS and doing... well something, but I have no idea what :-S The info on the usage (from Orange) is (e.g.)
date & time event type dialled number/description duration/vol(Kb) cost (?)
22/05/11 19:22 GPRS ap-prepaidsessio 38.0 0.00
with the same entry every hour:22
We have tried disabling as many sync type options / apps as we can find (e.g. Timescape) but it is still happening, and is driving me up the wall.
The reason I am even more annoyed is that most of the time it is at home, and connected (apparently successfully) to our wifi, so why the hell is it using GPRS anyway when there is an active wifi conection?! :-S
I have tried everything I can think of, and short of turning it off there seems little I can do. Can anyone help please??
- Which app is doing this?
- How do I configure it to either
i) use Wifi (preferred - would rather not disable functionality if possible) or
ii) stop auto syncing every hour?
Any help very gratefully received!
Thanks in advance
T
There are a couple of apps out there that can monitor data usage per app. But so far, all those that I found require Froyo (2.2) and above. I'm guessing your using the stock SE ROM so that's 2.1.
But there is an alternative.
Dial *#*#4636#*#*
Click Usage Statistics
Click Battery history
Click the Other usage dropdown
Click network usage
That should show you which apps are using your network connection. But both wifi and 3g; at least it gives you an idea.
As to how to prevent use, you could go to each app and customize syncing options if at all possible. If you just want to block an app from using the network totally, I suggest LBE Privacy Guard, free on the market.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lbe.security
They have a thread here on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1091065
EDIT: BTW, the phone shouldn't be using GPRS when wifi is available. That's weird. First time I've heard of that happening.
Many thanks for the info - really useful - will check the links you've given.
On the wifi (and yes it is weird - and annoying!) could it be "connected" but without a "proper" connection? Is there some way I can check, e.g. switch off GPRS and see if can see www?
Just tried what you suggested (disconnected the internet from my wifi router, but router still on), and my X10MP didn't even attempt to connect to GPRS despite using apps which use data. The apps returned errors.
Maybe your X10M fails to connect to the wifi? I actually have no idea what's going on.
you and me both buddy!
thanks for trying tho!
I'll delete the connection anyway and try set it up again....

I didn't need to enable anything to use that. Sorry, don't know how else to help.
well it carried on despite various fiddling. so I did a factory reset.... no accounts set up no sync etc - factory reset - and it's still happening??!! so something SE/Android is doing it, but I still have no idea what? Surely I'm not the only person with this issue??!! :S :S :S

very simple fix, go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > uncheck Data enabled.
that way mobile data (gprs,edge,3g) is turned off and your problem is solved. If you're using stock SE software, theres a Data Traffic widget that lets you toggle the Data Enabled setting on and off easily.
Sync is not the only thing using data traffic, background apps can too, as well as some of the apps she might be using. ( some apps have adverts )
Thanks. Had also been nosing on SE site, and am obviously not the only person with this problem. I unchecked the box a few hours ago, am hoping that that cures it. I've also found anotehr PAYG plan with the same provider that has unlimited internet, so may switch to that. So one way or another will be resolved.
However I am still left annoyed. This ****** device is supposed to be under MY contorl not the other way round! Not knowing what is doing this, or (and because of this) not being able to stop it is ****** annoying! As is the fact it (whatever "it" or "they" are) is using GPRS when there is an open wifi connection!!
Ho hum - progress eh...
Well turning off the Data seems to have done the trick thanks. NOt really satisfactory not knowing what is doing it, but there we go. Thanks for all the help all
If shes not using the data at all, you can try to delete all access points - GPRS,WAP, etc. even MMS...with no APN, no connection, no access to net, no credit loss...Just go to settings-wireless networks-mobile networks-access point names-click on any of them-press menu button and choose delete...Im working for the operator so I solve this kind of problems every day :-D It is easy if you dont want to use net in mobile at all but still I think you should flash it with SEUS because your problem is weird.
That's the thing - she does use data. so want it to be enabled. but the vast majority of the time is at home with a perfectly good wifi connection, so why won't it use that?!
Anyway am swapping to a PAYG tarriff promising "free" internet, so will see how that goes.
thanks t
Hi! Is worth it to use juicedefender on ics?
I personally haven't tried it myself, but due to it's downloads and ratings in Google Play, it seems really good and legit. I read it can multiply your battery life x4, but i don't need it atm so test it yourself.

Do u always use sync and use live updates from app like fb,g+,news app and the like then the answer is yes!! (Net always turned on)
It definitely improves battery a lot!!:good:
U could get more juice out of it!!!
What it does basically is reduce ur wifi scan frequency and connects the edge or 3g only in specified intervals (say every10mins or the time u set)..
Disable bluetooth & wifi automatically when not available NIght modes (All these can be done manually itself)
So ull get the live updates from ur app as well as save battery alot. .
If u turn on net only manually when browsing or for other purpose ... Then the app has no use for it!!!

Oh ok, sorry then, I'm not familiar with that company or if they have special settings like that or where they would be. Doesn't really make sense that it jumps back and forth between data and wifi though without something similar. Why not just turn off wifi when not using it for a temp fix? If you are rooted, you could use Tasker and Secure Settings to just turn wifi on for the locations you want.

Reset on factory do the trick xD
Easy fixes are the best.
Hi Guys ,
My last two months of Omate Trusmart usage , i could see most battery drain was happening when u always keep your data / wifi / bluetooth on.
So i developed a app that switches off / on your wifi and data radios at user defined intervals(3 min On and 6 min Off in my case ) .
As for Bluetooth it gets switched on only when there is a incoming or outgoing call. This really increased by battery performance by 30-40% more.
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sts.dataonofflite
This app was developed for all android systems so i'm trying to develop an alternate UI that may be easy for trusmart users.
User Suggestions are welcome.
UI updated
I updated the UI to fit omate trusmart
thanks for that!
by the way would there be any plan for update where Wi-Fi can be turned off at set time and turn on at the set time?
For example I'd like the Wi-Fi off during the time I travel to and from work as I drive.
cheers
Can't you do that and loada of other similar stuff using Llama app?

Llama works well (the llama factoids can occasionally be a little too big though).
Tasker users are satisfied too.
With those you can do a lot.
What maybe is missing is sharing the Llama "profiles", it can be difficult for some users to get started with Llama.
This app looks OK though, competition is good. Simpler to get started.
I use this app called "LeanData"

Sure.I have plans to implement a timed profile kind of tab for the next update.Thx for the input
Not trying to steal your thunder, but for those who use mobile data and wifi to be connected most/all of the time and are already using the Xposed framework, there is also Intelli3G. It has a good range of switching logic to help save battery usage.
