I need to connect to my 5GHz Access Point which is not connected to internet just for file sharing between mobile devices and PC.
I tried two devices:
- Motorola Atrix with CM9,
- HTC One X European with stock 4.0.3
All of them cannot connect as "Avoiding poor internet connection" specified.
OK, I have no internet connection at all and want to share files only!
How can I connect to non-internet (local) WiFi AP?
Thanks.

Many of us was looking for the way to connect their phones to the internet via PC internet connection
Today i will show an easy way to do this
First go to http://virtualrouter.codeplex.com/
download the Version for your OS
then install the program
then start the program and make a new router with the name you want
and the password you like
then start the Virtual Router
after that go to your android phone and go to settings Wireless & Networks
Turn on you Wi-Fi Connection
select the network you just started and enter the password you made
and that's it you are connected to the internet via your PC's Connection
My WiFi router has a 32G flash drive plugged into its built-in USB port. All my Windows based PC's in my home, can access that flash drive as a network drive.
Is there any way that my Android devices (Droid 4, generic Allwinner tablet) can also access that drive? Of course, when they are connected up to my home's WiFi network.
I have been searching for such an app, unsuccessfully, though it is entirely possible that I am simply not using the correct terms when searching.
Just to add, both my devices are running ICS, and have been rooted (if that makes a difference for the answer).
You can use ES File Manager it allows for Samba / FTP file sharing it is a fairly strait forward app and you shouldn't have any difficulties using it.

When I used to connect to the modem as regular way (just the cable to connect to modem and other pc using wireless to connect to modem) both the pc could recognizes in same network and I could play LAN games normally.
Now I just use the phone in usb tethering to connect to the modem and noone see other in same network whatever I settup manually inside windows and now noone game find the LAN server.
I seached in find that is a problem with IPs in android, I have an android 2.3 rooted and other 5.1 non rooted, I tried Port Forwarder but dont know how to settup this, tried this http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/43995/use-galaxy-s2-s3-as-router-for-pc-lan-gaming using ip route in my roted phone but the codes did not work. I dont know what to do right now, just only need that Left4Dead find the server as lan game and if I make windows find other in same network im sure that will work :good:

HI
I have a new Galaxy S5e tablet.
I have successfully made a connection via wifi to my PC using the microsoft shared app using my pc fixed ip address 192.168.1.100.
I have two other apps that both give the following error message when attempting to access my pc shared folders:
‘Connection failed with ‘Failed to connect: 0.0.0.0<00>/192.168.1.100’.Trying again.’
I have followed the instructions at:
(remove the quotes change "com)
regarding my pc access, but I still get the error.
Does anyone know how what I need to do to connect to my pc shared folders via SMB?
Regards and thanks
I think that smb is off by default in win 10. Ensure it is on. You can check it via windows features in Progtams. Google smb windows 10 hot switch on and you will find plenty guides.
Both devices needs to be connected to the same wifi network.

SMB is definitely on.
Both devices are on the same wifi.
My pc does not have wifi but uses the router to connect.
I don't believe this is a problem with my wifi or pc or else Windows remote on my tablet wouldn't connect and work with my pc.
As it would appear no one has a clue where this code error comes from nor how to rectify it I have to assume Oreo is not fit for purpose.
Hi everyone, as the title suggests, I have problems with the hotspot of my rooted Pocophone F1, MIUI Global 11.
It works great with other android devices, but I can't share the connection with my Lenovo Laptop with Windows 8.1.
USB tethering instead works without any problem.
When I try to connect to the Hotspot via WiFi, it returns the message "Limited", "No Internet Access".
Network Diagnostics throws up the following error message: "Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (Primary DNS Server)."
I have a full strength signal and I appear to be connected but there is "no internet access".
I am able to connect the laptop on the wireless of my home router with no problem.
I tried to:
1) Change the APN type to: "default, mms, dun, supl" (I also tried to insert "DUN" in capital letters)
2) Change the private DNS mode from "automatic" to "dns.google"
3) Reset all the network settings
But nothing changes, the problem remains.
Can you help me with my problem? Thanks in advance.
Any chance of getting help?
More likely a windows issue. Get help from google.
