Can't seem to find anything about this anywhere in the forums, which makes me hopeful that this is a super simple question. I installed Faryaab's F1 GalaxyNexus ROM on my i777. It is a pretty great ROM for my needs but I do have one small issue that I con't seem to dig up a resolution for.
I cannot seem to find any way to do what would have been the home screen "edit" function in GB. When I hit my settings button in the F1 GalaxyNexus home screen, I get only options for wallpaper, manage apps, & system settings. From what I remember from using a galaxy nexus the the ICS softkey menu button should contain those options + the option to configure the home screens.
Am I missing something obvious or if having 2 extra screens is just the way I will have to roll with this ROM.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and respond to my (probably dumb) question.
Gotta go into launcher settings its there

Hmm, I really appreciate you taking the time to respond but this has left me scratching my head. Risking a complete noob questions here; how does one access the launcher settings in the Ice Cream Sandwich Launcher as implemented in the F1 GalaxyNexus ROM?
Thanks Again

You must be using a launcher that doesn't have settings like that try using nova or apex

Nice one, I just found a site that is peddling flash-able fixes to the ICS default manager to remove the search bar and offer some other teaks, including changing the # of screens. Looks like this was indeed a stupid question.
THANKS NICK!!

Nope! Not in the stock TW launcher. The good ol'boys over at Sammys has taken that away a few months ago prior to the US release of their Galaxy series phones. Even with my wife's sgII just prior to the ICS official update, Sammy updated the phones to strip that away.
Now, every 'none' Sammy (Samsung) phone out there does have scrolling wallpaper (HTC, etc.) except for your sgsiii.
It has something to do with the visuals, trying very hard to be different from Apple - which does have scrolling wallpaper.
Also, universal search was STRIPPED away from your phone. See:
http://www.mobilemag.com/2012/07/13/universal-search-removed-from-samsung-galaxy-s-iii/
The fine devices made by HTC has these things your looking for. Also, wonder why the new Nexus 7 tab is made by Asus and not from Sammy?

I tod i'm missing something.. My skyrocket did not had scrolling wallpaper ether.. thanks guys. I use Apex loucher then..
Yeah try another launcher. Apex and Nova are pretty good.
Does anyone know of an rooted S2 ROM that is pretty much stock Samsung ICS 4.03 that gives me 5 horizontal icons on home screen and 5 x 5 in the apps drawer.
Alternatively any way to achieve this this with an existing rooted ROM?
Don't want to do it through an alternative launcher as I am happy with TW.
Thanks in advance.

This is probably the best for you

TW wont do that out of the box.
Look into TW 4.5 - not sure if it'll work on ICS, but I used it on GB and it allowed you to change the grid size IIRC.
Oh and it's a launcher thing, not a ROM thing.
Otherwise, find other launcher i guess...
Use apex launcher
On home screen touch the menu key
Go apex settings > home screen settings > portrait grid
Change to 5x5 or whatever u want

Thanks for that I have TW4.5 on my current ROM which is running 4.0.3 and have had on previous ROM's but this is the first time I have seen 5 horizontal icons on the home page, had never seen it as an option either.
I will investigate some more as I don't really want to use another launcher.
It's not even funny to post "Rom Challenge " in android development section.
That's my mistake I will withdraw the post. Thanks.

And I will lock this. Don't be lazy and search and read the rom threads. Also (I just noticed after I posted lolz) post in the correct sections....
Cheers
I am using Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-i9300 and running Paranoid Android ROM v 2.15.
My question is why am I getting these grayish black lines at the top and bottom and how can I remove them??
And one more thing, I don't get these lines on my lock screen so It's definitely not a screen problem.
p.s. The wallpaper is pure white.
Hi! That's just how it is it's somewhat like a default thing

If you're using Nova or Apex go to settings > dock > untick "show shadow"
Thank you, the nova launcher setting worked.
But I wanted a fix for the the paranoid android native launcher (which doesn't have a fix as stated).
Can anyone tell the dev's to create a solution for it :/

I am trying to create a homescreen shortcut to the cm updater on stock cm10 trebuchet and failing miserably. Diss anybody have any ideas? Thanks.
Sent from my Apple IIe
I think in stock trebuchet u have to go into the app drawer and go to widgets and even though it's not a widget, u drag that to the home screen and it'll show up as a shortcut. Could be wrong though it's been a while since I've used it.
If the cm updater is an app then just hold it in the app drawer then drop it

It is not in the app drawer. I could do it when using adw, but I was hoping to be able to do it on trebuchet.

I was trying to tell him that in trebuchet the shortcuts are under the widgets tab. If u go to widgets tab and drag the settings shortcut "widget" to your home screen it then gives u an option to choose where u want the shortcut to go. And then it's there. He may not have fully understood me.

I recommend delta updater. It only downloads a 50mb file but the flash is still good. It seems to replace files only. You could also add a shortcut with this as it is an app.

This is a very glaring omission that I hope they fix at some point. I have become accustomed to using elixir 2 shortcut widgets as opposed to a full blown widget to preserve battery life. Only using CPU time when clicking the shortcut to see my 7x3 widget. It is almost a deal breaker for me honestly.
Not sure why long pressing on the home screen brings up the wallpaper select menu anyway. Much more user friendly as well as useful to use the default Android action of long pressing allowing you to select what to add, including shortcuts. I add things way more often than I change a wallpaper, as I would think most others would to.
Edit: I figured out how to make the Elixir shortcut widgets work but still problems with all the other ones as the OP has said. I still think the home screen long press should be different, anything is better than changing wallpaper but would prefer the old implementation of bringing up what to add to the home.

I don't mean to sound like a prick. But they do all of this for free for us. Yes it would be nice to have different options, but that's why there is a play store with tons of different launchers available. To call it a glaring omission, is.... Kind of like asking for more when they've already given us a lot. Maybe in time they'll add what yer asking for. But we really do owe them a lot of thanks, so let's just be happy with what we've got. Like I said, not trying to be a prick. Just saying.

I do appreciate what they do and really love the CM mods. Have been using them since the first one that came to the OG Evo. I understand that they are doing this for free and for that I do greatly appreciate it. I didn't mean for it to come off as demanding or that they owed us anything. I admit I could have worded it much better, but I honestly meant it as a request for something I feel should be added at some point. It is a small addition(I don't mean small to code, as I have no idea how much work it would take) that would add a lot in return in respect to intuitiveness.
I also understand that these are beta's(alpha's even possibly?) and not all features are yet integrated in or been tested. Take this as a humble request for the shortcuts to be changed/fixed at some point before going final. Request also for the long press on homescreen action to be changed to something more used, such as the default menu for adding apps/shortcuts/widgets for the screen.
Yeah, I didn't want to start anything. I was just wondering if I was overlooking anything simple. Cyanogenmod all the things!

Widgets - Settings - updates works just fine in cm10.1.
Is there a flashable zip for floating multi-windows on VZW GN2? I searched and found a couple of threads but they seemed somewhat complicated and quite buggy. I had this feature on my GS3 with Synergyrom and loved it, I'm sure it would be even nicer on the bigger screen. Sorry if there is a simple answer that I overlooked.
Here is a simple way of getting floating multi Window. I know of no other mods at this time.

Is it because it's built into the rom that it works so well on Synergy for the GS3? If so is it something that can be done for GN2? I ask because I don't fully understand what can just be flashed and what has to be built in to the framework of the rom to make it work properly.

Ihave the same problem, but I deal with the three shortcuts instead of five. Then I use an spp to control jist the lockscreen rotation. Im my opinion, the benefits far outweigh losing two shortcuts.
You can also change the dpi if you want all of your shortcuts as lpng as you can deal with smaller icons.

Are you hitting the save button in the right corner of xposed after you change your settings ?

Yeah same here on beans 13 didn't change multi Window at all. Tw launcher. Beans stock kernel.
Tried both resolutions. Tried different dpi.
It would be really cool to have this. I am not smart enough. Lol. But i know there are tons of smart people in these forums.

Yes, just like I do when I change DPI on all my other apps. I know how to use it. It just isn't working with Beans 13 for some reason.
