Every now and then and seems like more often lately my screen goes black and seems unresponsive. The only thing that fixes it is a battery pull. This is pita being I have an otter case especially when I'm driving. I have left cm7 once because of voice dialing but that got fixed somewhat, but now considering just going stock rooted for stability but I'm pretty sure it would just drive me crazy. Anyway any help would be great. Love this ROM.

Are you using the screen on animation? What happens if you get a call when the screen is like this? Are you only using adw for your launcher? And of course gave you cleared cache and dalvik?
I don't have the answer but I figured I'd generate some discussion... *shrugs*

Well i use both on and off and don't have this problem.

No screen on animation, I use Adw ex paid. I will try wiping cache and all see if that helps. not sure if phone is still working as screen is blank and can't tell. I did move adw ex to system app wonder of that is causing problems.

is it me or is the ICS dialer EXTREMELY laggy opening and the xt9 dialing is always being on dial presses. GB roms = click on dialer and instant opening, this one i have to wait up to 3/4 seconds.
Yes, I have also had some lag from opening up the ICS dialer. I use Apex launched and I set the double-tap gesture to open up the dialer and it is kind of slow. BTW, it's hilarious when you say 3/4 a second as if that was so slow haha. All joking aside I know what you mean though, it would be nice if it was instant.

he meant 3 to 4 seconds, not three-fourths of a second.
Same problem here started a couple days ago. Whats even slower is getting the call log to show up. That's takes another 1-2 seconds. Weird.

Seems like deleting call list fixes the lag for me, although i wish it never would show text in the CALL LOG! makes no sense and fills up way to earily for me

I really really hated this on my GS2 and was so pleased they stopped listing texts in the "call log" on stock Galaxy Note gb. Now it's back on the ICS ROM....
I have definitely noticed some serious lag all around in the phone app. Takes too long to load, favorites is laggy when loading up and it feels like forever waiting for the call ended screen to go away.
Thanks for the clear call log suggestion. Will
try this.
Update: app is a little more snappy after clearing call log. Favorites still a little laggy and call ended screen shows for way too long.

Clearing the call log makes it much faster! I just wish I didn't have to clear it to do that.

Yes it does make it a little faster. Something is def screwy with the phone apk as I even got it to fc by trying to add a favorite. Do launchers have anything to do with it? I'm on Apex as Nova gave me nothing but lag. Maybe I will try TW for the hell of it.

Yes I agree. Tried Apex, Nemus, TW all same lag and crash when editing favorites. Def a phone or contact issue. A leak is a leak. Still love ICS tho

You can hide text messages from the call log by Menu --> View By --> All calls. It makes the call log come up instantly, but the dialer still takes 3-4 seconds to load.

I tried exdialer and yes there was no lag, but I didn't like the layout as much. Mostly having call/txt log above the dial pad. I couldn't find a option to remove it and make the dial pad bigger

Download trebuchet from clockwork, it's the fastest launcher for 4.0.3 I have ran across. Do a Google search for trebuchet launcher XDA and you should get it, just make it a system app in titanium our it won't function correctly

Is that the launcher that CM team uses for CM9 ? If so that was a sweet launcher.
Edit: yup it is CM9 launcher. Loving it. Thanks
Right on, glad I could help
This is not good. I'm using stock GB and experiencing couple of second delay on dialer. I was really hoping ICS would fix this. I hate keep mentioning my iPhone experience but iPhone dialer was very fast and phone experience was much better overall...
Hi guys, give a try to Ray Dialer free app on market, seems to open very fast even if is not in memory , but leeks some functions like contacts, favotites and the option to add a new contact without having to call it.
First post and new android user so please bear with me...
Scrolling wallpaper seems to work with Nova launcher if I choose from 'wallpaper' but if I choose an image from'gallery' I get forced to crop it. I was looking for some thoughts from experienced users on this...
I can't seem to find an answer on where to put an image so the device sees it as 'wallpaper' to see if that works or if I am just being a thick newbie and am missing something else. Ideas?
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda premium
Samsung won't let you do it through gallery or anything of that sort. I've found when i use the app that I download the wallpaper with that you can set it as a background with that and it works fine and takes up the whole screen including the other windows. I use zedge.
Thanks, I will give that a try. I have a whack of pics that would be great if I could get them to scroll, I figured if I put them with the stock wallpapers then I might be able to trick it that way!

I did get the Zedge ones to scroll, thanks again. One step closer to manually setting it

Several apps in the market willl allow you to set a full image for your wallpaper. I use Wallpaper Setter.

One of the first things I did when I got my Droid DNA was to install Apex Launcher, mainly because I wanted the gesture support for opening the notification drawer and the app drawer. I have swipe down set to open the notifications, so I don't have to reach all the way to the top. Problem is, sometimes I have to swipe several times or change the angle at which I am swiping in order for it to register. I have been in contact with HTC but we aren't getting anywhere.
I don't know if the issue is limited to Apex, or if other launchers have the same issue. I tried Nova, but apparently you need the premium version to unlock gestures.
My question is this: Does anybody else have issues with gestures using Apex or Nova (premium) Launchers?
Its something with apex. I just installed nova to test it our and it works flawlessly.

Well it could just be my phone, or it could be you haven't seen it YET. As I said, the issue was intermittent. Anyway, if you do keep one of those configurations, I would much appreciate it you would post back here again. Thanks for the help though meanwhile.
I did some more experimenting and I realized it may be limited to just after switching screens. If I swipe to the side to a different screen, then quickly swipe down or up before it has completely settled, then it won't go. If I keep swiping, it stays in "transition mode" and won't recognize the command of swiping down or up. The only way to stop it then, is to be a little slower to swipe, or to speed up the transition animation. Not sure why this never happened on my Thunderbolt though.
We already have a few threads on this issue but I believe I finally resolved my lagging issues by going under the display settings then home screen and changed the "screen swipe effect" to layer or just change yours to a different one from the one you currently have and see if that resolved your lagging issue.
Report back with your results because my results have been positive so far, I'm going on two hours and no lag.

nope. the lag people are reporting is REDRAWING for the most part, which can't be resolved by changing the swipe effect. it's a memory issue.

Yeah I guess so cause after a few hours the lag came back.
Another thing I notice is if you go to the app settings and choose "Home" and clear cache, the LG launcher will run smoother.

I've been using layer as my transition effect since I like the look of it the best. It also seems to be the smoothest.
For the record, I never have experienced launcher redraw on this phone.

I thought using a 3rd party launcher will keep this problem away? I'm using Nova and I don't think I've encountered this..

The lag that bothers me the most is when the apps don't show in the app drawer right away, then....bang! Oh, there they are...then if you go back to home, and back into the apps it's smooth. But the first time is rather a jolt...
