Is there anyway to make the S3 so that the volume buttons doesn't adjust the ring and notification volume?
I want to be able to change the media volume with the buttons though.
I switch from my iPhone to the S3 and I really miss that feature iPhone has.

I haven't found a working app in Google Play that works on the S3 that will do this but as I'm new to Android maybe someone here knows how I can active this.
The volume control should do both. If you are listening to media the buttons will control that, it will only do ringer volume when it not playing media files.

Thats right. But I don't want the buttons to adjust the ringer and notify volume at all, not even when I'm on the home screen.
The volume buttons should only change the media volume, all the time.

samsung stock fw had music control in the notification bar. any cm7 rom has this feature?
Sorry for my bad english
All of the CM7 roms should have it, dont see why anyone would remove that features unless it's buggy. You're able to find that option in cyanogenmod settings.

CM7 has music controls on the widget buttons area in the Notifications and can be aligned to Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, at etc. (You can go to CM Settings, Interface - Notification power widget - Widget buttons)
But if you are referring something like music controls on the notification area (Below the Widgets). Like http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4114/4802325284_59d6ca4eea.jpg
CM don't have that yet.
I can't find any rom, even stock, that has the option to 'Link Call Volume & Notification Volume'. It's driving me nuts. This almost breaks the phone for me. I want all volumes to adjust at the same time, and not have to adjust notification volume individually via the volume settings.
Help?
Bump.
Since the first post, I have tried every TW ROM available and still no option for linked volumes.
Currently on Eclipse TW Note II v1.1.
Still no luck finding an answer to this.
Anyone?
Bump day.

Can't just have them both on the same screen? But this long no answer probably means this is the best you are going to get:

I wonder if any dev could make a xposed module or any trick for controlling the media volume by default ? instead of ringtone volume like CM ROMs or OMNI ROMs do! or just simply disable the function of control ringtone volume via volume keys

ok! I found the option in new version! Is it new added? I remembered I found nothing about this function in older version. Finally,I no longer need a exra app to lock ringtone volume !
thanks bro!
Hi,
This didn't used to happen so I don't know whether it was due to the last update or not bit every few days my ringtone volume changes to near the minimum level and I've no idea why. I've since changed the default volume button behaviour to change the media volume, not the call volume so it's not due to the physical buttons.
I've not installed any new apps, I don't think changing the volume in any apps changes the ringtone volume, only the media volume.
I'm on standard build, EMUI 9.0.1.162
Any ideas what could cause this? Thanks.

Thanks but all the motion controls are turned off.
Hi, I wanted to adjust the media volume of the Pixel 6, but sometimes the ring tone volume is adjusted instead. This isn't very pleasant.
It seems that a reboot will temporarily fix the issues.

It generally happens when you are on call .. as it mixed up between your call volume or your phone volume. It don't find any solution for this, its default for all android device as well I guess.
