[Tango] Where is the Location notification & export to SIM - Nokia Lumia 800

Hey guys,
yesterday I installed all three updates (official via Zune). Everything works fine however I noticed a few things:
- Battery drain: Is now between 140 and 200 (as reported with the new Diagnostics app)
- Location access notification: The icon that shows that an App uses GPS won't show when I open a GPS related app, for instance "Maps"
-
SIM card. Adds features related to SIM card contacts. You can now export phone contacts to a SIM card and selectively import SIM card contacts to your phone.

I'm unable to find said export function
Can you check these things on your phone too?

Chris

Guys you have to wait a little longer they will come available as an exclusive Nokia app from 1st July!
" Optional Camera Extras, Contact Share, and Play To apps "

i don't think the features we're talking about are from nokia, microsoft listed that in this update you will be able to import selective contacts from sim and EXPORT all contacts to sim.....the export and the icon for gps are missing...

I stand correct, yes it seems that it was missed off on this release weird......the Nokia exclusive apps. are starting to filter through now though, I just got Play To from the Nokia market.

Guys,i had in people tile settings the option only to import contacts from SIM, it should have export option too.

Hi guys,
Same situation here with my Titan.
Don't see the option to Export contacts and the Location icon is mising too

how to change all contacts to "phone" type?

Hi!
I would like to know if it is possible to have *only* "phone" and "SIM" contact types and prevent them being synced to google account.
Thanks, Nikos

Its possible to show only phone and sim contacts on phone if thats what you mean?
well, you can go to Settings - Data Syncronization - Google - untick Contacts
also in People press Menu - View and choose which you like shown in People app, and which to ignore, so even if you did sync Google contacts, you can still pretend they are not there
Thank you for your replies. But what I really mean is _not_ to sync to Google contacts. I want to keep everything local and disable, if possible, Google syncing completely.
Isn't there any advanced address book which would manage all contacts exclusively on the phone?
So far I haven't found any.
Thanks again, Nikos
well, you disable Google sync like i told you, Settings - Data Syncing - Google, there are the options to turn things off or on
if your contacts are already saved as Google and not Phone, i'm not sure you can change that, only restore them from Outlook or sim i guess :/

Sorry for not replying to what you have written initially. I think what you describe is not an option. When you enter (at least in HTC Hero) Settings > Data Synchronization you have the options:
- Background data ( which is required if you want to install market apps)
- Auto-Sync (which I have disabled)
- Google mail (which is a "button" to execute syncing, IIUC)
- Calendar (same as above)
- Contacs (same as above)
So, I don't see where one can "untick" the Contacs and prevent them from being synced!?
Regards, Nikos
Brilliant man, I was wondering how to stop Google Contacts from appearing!
Also,
all of the above discussion does not reply my first question: is it possible to turn contatcs (from any type, e.g. SIM or Google) to "phone" type contacts?
Contact Types Displayed
Yes there is,
1. Open people
2. Press Menu
3. Select View
There are 3 options to choose from
Google
Phone
Sim
Leave the ones ticked you want displayed
Aother option of duplicated conatcts is at the bottom
Thanks for your reply seanyowl. But I don't have a problem choosing between types that are to be displayed. The "problem" is how one would perform a contact type cast? As the threads title states (maybe not so clear after all): how to change (=convert) to "phone" type.
Regards, Nikos
you cant.
and the reason you don't see the tick boxes in the google sync settings is because you have already turned autosync off.

Thanks for the (final) answer to the initial question.
There IS a way to convert "Phone" or "Google" contacts into "SIM" contacts but it is a tedious one:
People > Menu > View > Choose which contacts to show > OK > Click every contact you want to save as SIM (choose the one you want) > Menu > More > Save to SIM
Or you can install "Contact to SIM" from the Market. With "Contacts to SIM" you export EVERY contact to the SIM card. But there is a bug when doing it this way though. It seems that when using C2S the change doesn't appear immediatly in People. That means that if you use C2S you will not see the SIM card get populated in People. You have to reboot the phone for People to see the change. I think People ONLY reads its own change to the SIM card and nothing else.
Remember that when exporting your contacts back to the SIM card you will loose every extra information but the telephone number and the name. And most SIM cards have a limit of 250 contacts.

Oh... on what planet did I find these little green pills... they are sooo tasty...
Unfortunatly there doesn't seem to be any way to change the contact type once entered...
But atleast you know how to export the contacts back to the SIM card...

Yeah, it seems no one understands the question. I want to be able to do the same thing: Keep all of my personal data OFF of Google (and away from the NSA and everyone else) and ONLY sync with my PC at home. I already have some calendar and contact info synced with Google, but I want to be able to "reclassify" all current Google contacts and calendars to be "Device" so nothing is synced with Google. Not sure why this question is so hard to understand...

[Q] how to save contacts to sim on Mozart ...

Hi,
How to save to my phone contacts (all or one by one) to my sim card so if i use my sim in another phone I get my contacts as well?
cheers...
Any body facing same issue
I don't think that is possible. You can copy the sim contacts to your phone so they can be synced to Windows Live but not the other way around.
You have to remember that WP7 is a very cloud based mobile OS...
thanks for reply, but its a basic feature that SIM can be used in other phones and not every phone syns with cloud or with outlook. so need transfer some important contact on SIM so these are always there. any other way transferring contacts from Mozart to other phone e.g. Motorola or Nokia. Bluetooth?
cheerss
I understand that other phones can do that, but WP7 is not other phones and right now it cannot be done. Sometimes missed features on the OS can be complemented with an app, Have you tried that?
Bluetooth is not supported either, at least not right now. You have an easy way to pass contacts to other phones, since WP7 is cloud based, you can manage all that stuff through the internet! Just go to your Hotmail contacts or Gmail contacts (or others, Outlook, Yahoo, etc) and export them in a format that you can import on other phones.
Agreed that WP7 is really at it's early stages and loads of features are missed e.g tethering
but my problem is that i use my SIM in some other phone while on roaming and that phone is a basic Motorola phone, not connected to internet and just for calls and sms. now how to transfer contacts to that phone? I only know the way of transferring contancts via SIM or bluetooth. any suggestion?
cheers...
Try to see if you can connect your phone to your computer and manage the contacts via motorola software or other. Also check if you can import contacts directly in your phone (nokias can do this). If you import via PC or phone you can export the contacts from the internet and then import them on the phone.
actually my other phone is a very basic Motorola L2. so need soem straight forward method to copy contacts.
But one thing strange, copying/saving contacts to SIM used to be a standard feature always. does this mean that in future we won't be having any SIM memory?
cheers...
I have no clue if this would be added to WP7 on future updates, but i don't really need it, as smartphones in gereral are more and more cloud based, and WP7 is even more cloud based than iOS or Android for instance.
Bringing old query again
any app out there that can copy the contacts to the SIM on HTC Mozart?
Hi, old query again.
is there any method even after Mango upgrade, to copy contents from my HTC Mozart to the SIM?
I don't understand why we cannot copy our contacts on windows phone to the sim card.
Its a cloud based OS and its supposed to send and receive your info from online accounts like Windows Live Hotmail, Gmail and others.
Maybe on homebrew someone will be doing it

how do u hide sim contacts

how do you hide your sim contacts after i did the update today now it has all my sim and gmail contacts and alot of doubles and all i need is my g mail contacts i
I
have the same result but want to display only my sim contacts. Actually dont wwnt any of my contacts sored to google gmail account.
go to contacts, display option, and then click on gmail account below the line "choose the contacts to display". Now unceck all box. click on "done"
Now only SIM contacts will be displayed.
thanks but i need the oppisit i dont need the sim contacts
I also have this problem. Did anyone get only Gmail contacts to display? Not the SIM contacts.
I am interested to know how to hide the sim card contacts also in 351 - anyone has succeeded?
I use Go contacts. It will solve ur problem and available free on android market. But works great when u hav rooted phone along with Go laincher. Wht I did is disabled dell stage and enabled Go launcher as default. It saves memory and works great.
Umm, what I did was:
1. Go into your contacts.
2. Click the middle button between "Home" and "Back".
3. Click "Display Options".
4. Uncheck SIM contacts.
That should do it.
My solution is a simple one: don't put contacts on the SIM card. Haven't done it in 2+ years, and see no need to do it now.

Aosp based Rom / contact app doesn't support using SIM contacts as default contact. You can only export SIM contacts to phone.
Samsung has 100% advantage over Google when it comes to contact management
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
Ok, I Import my contacts from sim to phone.
Now I must select option "Gmail Acc" to see only my sim contacts, without skype, viber contacts ?

Probably a bit long winded but you could make a backup, flash a stock rom, save ur sim contacts to ur sd card then restore ur backup and import them. I eventually realised there's no point in using ur sim card, I've just got all my contacts on Google now and use it by default, it syncs automatically so if u ever lost ur phone u could get ur contacts back on a new one easily

Lg Nexus won't read sms contacts after "update"

After doing the last "update" the device does not seem to be able to read/import my contacts, old sms only show numbers and not names.
I'v tried to enable "all contacts" - but to no avail, also tried to import contacts from sim where it only finds 2 contacts (the police and the phone company's so I guess they are put in by some "default).
I'v confirmed that the contacts are there - as I just recently bought a Jolla Phone and that one fires up all the contacts the moment I inserted the sim........(on a clean phone).
Any tips ?

Sync was enabled - but still doesn't seem able to get the contact.....
Why would it "delete" the contacts anyway - the only thing it seem to be showing is exchange contacts - but I'v tried to disable that as well, and do "show all contacts" to no avail........
