Back up Android settings? - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

I have Titanium Backup for apps/data. And SMS Backup + for call logs/text/sms.
And my paid apps like Enhanced Email, Rocket Dial, APEX Launcher and Handcent SMS all are capable of backing up their own settings.
But I would really like to figure out how to back up the Android settings!!!!
I spend a good 10 minutes setting up all the little things like preferred ring tones for ring, default notifications, and then display, dock settings, etc.
Anyone know of a way to do this? I'm guessing there is no way due to fluctuations between the various custom ROM's I'll be flashing all the time. But it can't hurt to ask.

I'm pretty sure TIB will back up stuff like ringtones and notifications. Those are just settings within system apps. Just look for the option for "backup/restore user+system apps." As for backing up your dock and homescreens: I don't think Touchwiz can do that, but Nova or Apex have options to save and load those settings.

[Q] nonsensikal v10.1 sound mystery

Been running 10.1 for about a week now and am loving it. Unfortunately, my first beef with this ROM just popped up and I'm hoping someone out there can help. When selecting a tone for a new alarm (or just setting a ring tone for that matter), I'm prompted to select from the stock system sounds. I know when I first flashed to this ROM I could select to use a set of sounds as my default and am fairly certain I chose the extended bank of sounds. Why limit yourself, right? At any rate, I went to manage applications and can't reset defaults because the button is greyed out and unselectable. The non-standard set of sounds is still in there as evidence of both my alarms going off with the sound I had been looking for and, in addition, I can still see all this "missing" tones when I open up Astro File Manager and go to /mnt/sdcard/system/media/audio. At this point, there are folders for alarms, notifications, ringtones & ui, ALL of which contain sound files...the ones I'm in search of. How can I reset this? Did a nandroid backup when sounds were still accessible and when I reflashed to the backup I was still missing the option to select these sounds. What gives? Help!!

Notifications on the lock screen?

Is it possible to have notifications pop up on the lock screen? I'm thinking specifically of text messages here, as the phone makes a sound but doesn't really give any visual indication apart from a tiny LED blinking away.
Can it be done on the standard UI or do I need to install something else? Sorry for the noobish question, this is my second day using an Android phone
I think you mean like the iPhone does? Because I was just looking into that, but haven't found if a launcher or SMS app. Any help greatly appreciated.
Pretty much like the iPhone does yeah. That's the one drawback I've found so far moving over from iOS
Widgetzoid.....
Ive been using Handcent SMS and it has a feature similar to what you are asking for. Under the applications menu go to Notification Settings, Popup Settings and uncheck Privacy Mode. It works on the Motorola Droid and HTC Sensation.
Check out GO SMS Pro. It's a free messaging app that is skinnable with a theme that looks almost exactly like the iPhone. It also has popup notifications when you have a text, and can even turn your screen on when receiving messages.

Separate vibration patterns for call and text with stock apps?

So this is odd. I just got my Note II (love it for the most part), but can't figure this out for the life of me. There seems to be only one vibrate option, and that's in the main system settings > sound. It allows you to choose a vibrate pattern or create your own. If you go into the dialer (phone app) you can also set a vibrate pattern from there. Problem is the two are linked. If I change the one in phone it changes the main settings and vice versa. The messaging app has no such option, therefore my call and text vibrate patterns are always identical.
This is kind of annoying. I'd like to just use the stock messaging app. I have Handcent installed right now until I can (hopefully) find a fix for this, because that takes care of my problem, but it's not exactly the workaround I was looking for. Is there any way to fix this?

Notification settings not available for separate apps

Hi all, one thing bothering me is the inability to set individual notification sounds, I have discovered how to do it for email but I cannot set individual sounds for other apps, so my Facebook, text etc are all the same, it's annoying me. Is there any way to change this, either a setting I don't know about or a good free app.
Many thanks

Question Notification sounds

Does anyone else have a problem with their xperia using the default system notification sound for ALL notifications instead of what is set for each app? For instance, snapchat notifications always use the system default instead of the sounds that snapchat specifically is supposed to install and use. It's really annoying as I've gotten inconsistent results trying to set custom notifications for specific apps to use and some refuse to use the custom settings. Is it something I'm doing wrong?
I have the XQ-BC72 version of the phone.
I apologize if this has been asked before, my search didn't pull up anything in this realm of use case.
Thanks.
Can't speak for Snapchat as I do not use it. However, I have different sounds set for different things and they all work as expected. Do you have a separate "notifications" and "ringtones" folder? If not then you need to create each one in the root of the device and place all the 3rd party sounds you want to use in the proper folder. Now in settings you can choose a default notification sound which will be used by default by all your communications apps UNLESS you go into each apps settings to choose a specific one. If for some reason you continue to have issues try to choose "none" for the default notification sound. This way you will have to choose a sound for each app or else you will not hear anything.
