[Q] GT-P7501: Stuck in "Downloading... Do not turn off target !!" [resolved]
Hi all,
I just bought a GT-P7501.
I was going to root it as described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239185
I ended up with a flickering CWM recover version 4. Flashed with Odin a version 5 from overcome. Same flickering...
And then something must have gone terribly wrong...
I now cannot flash anything via Odin anymore. The tab starts and sits then with a very small percentage display in "Downloading...". Odin stays at
<ID:0/010> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/010> recovery.img

Click to collapse
When I boot normally I get "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." Kies does not allow me recovery mode though.
(I can (at least occasionally) boot into the stock by fiddling with the flickering CWM recovery.) Not anymore, I cannot get into recovery.. :-(
Any hint, how to resolve this?!?! I am desparate.

Using a TAB GT-P7500
Got the same problem, after trying to update to ics with KIES. It stopped in the beginning, and cant do anything else anymore.
Tried draining the tab, didnt work. Tried almost everything and it doesnt work so it seems. I will try to flash it with the recov tar. If you could tell me how you did it. Just flsh it in ODIN?
edit*
Tried flashing the recov.tar in ODIN, doesnt work it seems. Maybe it is time to throw my tab out of the window, its getting annoying
Okay, ive managed to flash the recovery tar, yet when i want to flash a stock rom it still freezes after a few seconds (attached screenpic). I can get into the overcome cwm recovery, and wipe everything, yet after that i can still not flash a rom, it will be stuck at hidden.img.
Anyone any idea on what to do next?
Two choices: copy a ROM to your storage, flash a custom recovery and boot into recovery and install the .zip from your SD card
Or, Odin to stock.

Can't reach internal storage, it will only see the tablet as an apx. Odin to stock keeps on freezing. Drained my tablet now completly, will try it again once i recharged.
Odin to stock doesnt work, not with a pit file, not without, it will still freezes at hidden.img and then do nothing again.
Well, send it to samsung for repairs, they will fix it under guarentee.

Hi there,
I hope there ist somebody here who could help me.
I was about to install the lates CyanogenMod on my Tablet and kind of screwed up.
My tablet was rooted, but had some problems installing a Recovery-Image. So I installed the stock Rom (3.0.1) and tried to flash CyanogenMod again. Installting everything via Odin works fine, but when I try to boot into recovery it won't work. So I tried to install the recovery image from the CyanogenMod-Wiki via fastboot. At this point the Tablet schows following error:
Code:
Failed to process command getvar: partition-type : recovery error (0x2)
I had the problem before, when my tablet was rooted, that I could not install the recovery via the Rom Manager...
So I thougt that I might have screwed up my partitions at some point. I went on a hunt for the Pit file and then to install stock Rim with the Pit file again. Well I did find a Pit file which is supposed to work for my tablet. But now everything is screwed up. It will not start anymore at all. Either it ist stuck on the Samsung boot screen or it shows an Android with the exclamation mark and doesn't do anything anymore...
This ist the Pit file which ist supposed to work:
Code:
android_fastboot_emmc_full_p4_16G_32G.zip
Has anyone got a working Pit file für the P7100?
Does the Pit file even fix my partition problem?
Is there a way to manually partition the tab and if yes has anyone got a guide?
I hope there ist someone here that can help me. I would really appreciate it! I know I screwed up badly on this one :crying:
Thanks to everyone taking time to help me in advance.
You might try doing stock image to open if you can get to the recovery and just do a full wipe. ....or try opening your stock recovery if you can and just do a factory reset wipe everything

Thanks for your quick response.
On rare occasion I do get into the recovery and did a full wipe of erverything. I even tried to format all the partitions. On some partitions it just said, that it can not format them. I also reinstalled the stock rom a couple of times as well.
Nothing of this worked so far. I am always stuck on the boot screen or the android with the exclamation mark (after I factory reset ist or reinstalled the stock rom)
Edit: When I boot (not flash) the recovery via fastboot I can get into the downloaded recovery from CyanogenMod.
I tried a little more yesterday to revive my tab...
When I flash the stock rom in download mode via odin, it starts afterwards to a screen with the android and the exclamation mark. At this screen I can press the power and volume + button a couple times and then I am in the stock recovery. Tried every option in there, but it just wont helpt. Afterwards it ist stuck on tying to boot into recovery.
When I don't press the power and volume + button and just wait after flashing stock rom, the tab will reboot after a while and gets into a boot loop with the samsung boot screen...
Tried flashing a recovery rom from clockwork as well, but afterwards I am not able to boot into it. My guess is, that the partitions are screwed up and therefore the tab can not boot... Is there a way to manually partition my tab? Can anyone post the partition table for the P7100 (Galaxy Tab 10.1v)?
Oh yeah... Everything started after I flashed the last nightly from CyanogenMod. That was the first time the tab got stuck on the boot screen and ever since can not get past it.
I scared that I completely broke my tab now and wont be able to get it back :crying:
If your thread name is correct you have a 10.1v if I am correct the code name for it is P3 but the Odin file you posted I assume is for the P4 because of its naming. If it is so the you have flashed the wrong stock firmware image for your tab. You have used 10.1 Wifi and 3G model firmware on a 10.1v. Your tablet could be seriously screwed up but there is still hope if you can get into download mode.

You are right. I have the P3 and flashed the P4 PIT-file. I have read on a couple sites, that the P4 ist as well the right one for the P3 and haven't found another PIT-file just for the P3.
I only started using the PIT file after my bootloop problem started, which was directly after flashing CyanogenMod (nightly). The version I downloaded was supposed to work all right on my tab, but did screw it up. Do you have any idea which part of my tab could be screwed up and what I could try?
I think it is the partitions and I flashed the stock rom for the 10.1v (3.0.1) a couple times (with and without the P4 file)...
I am getting all right into download mode, but can only get into the recovery directly after flashing the stock rom. After one mor restart I can't access the recovery anymore...
Hi folks, mid last week I woke up to a non responsive Galaxy S2. It's been happily running stock Vodafone ICS for over a year, and somehow spontaneously went soft brick on me. Gets stuck at logo screen or goes into boot loop.
Download mode is accessible. I can flash through Odin (1.85 and 3.09) and it reports success. I have successfully put CWM (various versions) on it can can boot into them fine.
Recovery mode is also accessible and appears to be working fine. I can access external SD card no problem.
Attempting to flash through zip from external SD aborts with Mode 7, reporting bad zip or unable to read source file. I have tried removing asserts from install script (educated myself to the risks and made sure the ROM was correct!!) and multiple versions of CM (10.1.3 stable, 10.2 nightly) and multiple versions of CWM recovery (6.0.2.9 is what I've been using mostly, as recommended by CM guide)
Tried running GS2ROMNukeV2.12.zip which reported successful wipe, then attempted zip install from SD with same result (aborted mode 7). Repeated wipe and attempted stock (I9100TDVLSK_I9100THUTLSD_I9100TDVLS3_HOME.tar) from flash through Odin. Reported success, phone booted into recover and applied KOR CSC successfully, then reboot and still stuck at logo screen/boot loop.
I have attempted the fix in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449771 as best I could wish the resources I could find, but it's hard to follow to the letter with the links broken!!!
I have not tried repartition with PIT as I'm not sure where to get an appropriate PIT file. Advice on this appreciated!
I want to make this clear because people seem to not want to believe it: I did not soft brick my phone flashing it. My best theory at this point is some kind of memory corruption or hardware failure that's causing a boot loop. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. This week I will probably take it in to a repair shop and hope for the best, but tomorrow is a public holiday and I've got nothing to lose by trying any more suggestions.

If memory serves me right this is due to an old version of Recovery, i had the same thing, updated recovery and it flashed zip fine. just as you know. :fingers-crossed:
This morning i found my phone stuck on the Samsung logo.
Entering the TWRP recovery I noticed it was not mounting anything, not even the external sd card, which seemed strange to me.
I tried to flash the last twrp via ODIN and it completed.
But it even don't boot the Samsung logo which was doing before.
In dowload mode the counter is set pratically to 0.
Trying to flash again ODIn gives the error saying that the pit partition is missing.
Only thing I could resort to is download mode.
Please help
Flash an official clockwork recoverymod recovery and see if that boots. Twrp is dodgy at best.

Just woke up to see my phone on the Samsung Galaxy i9300 logo.
(I had just flashed LineageOS the previous day)
I was able to get into recovery CWM but nothing could mount, so I tried TWRP. Same thing. Couldn't sideload too (because you couldn't sideload to anywhere duh).
Tried flashing stock rom and repartitioning. Failed. And now the phone says Firmware upgrade failed etc instead of the logo.
Can't get into recovery anymore.
Can get into odin mode, but Odin doesn't recognize the phone.
SDS?
EDIT:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9300
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (3 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
You can still flash a stock ROM when you see the "upgrade failed" screen.
Did you try using different USB cables and ports to flash the stock ROM? Tried using Odin 3.07 with and without a pit file?
If you can get to download mode try another cable and install the pc drivers while the phone is connected in download mode or install kies for your operating system, stop the processes and try again.
Make sure your stock firmware is the correct one for your device/region/variant and that the md5 hash matches.
The problem you are having is caused by a borked recovery. It is very possible that the partition is corrupt, inevitably causing the death of your phone.

Odin 3.07 / 3.09 and Heimdall don't recognize the phone.
The usb cable seems fine considering I used to flash the day before and if I remove the battery the phone is still on while connected to the usb cable.
I already ordered a new phone but if I can get this one fixed that'd be great. The new phone may come with a usb cable so I will try that.
I guess I was stupid enough to flash TWRP and SuperSU on top of LineageOS.
EDIT:
Before getting to this point I was able to flash stock rom while the Firmware upgrade has failed... logo showed. However I can't flash stock rom because the phone can't mount anything, not even /system. So it fails as soon as it tries to write something.
New usb cable - couldn't flash but was detected by odin.
Deleted hidden.img from the stock rom and now it flashes!
Let's hope it works.
Update: it did not.
After flashing it booted to recovery, said something about missing sd card and a countdown to 20s. After that was over it went to the recovery menu and I got a bunch of the same errors: couldn't mount /system /cache (no such file or folder found).
I put back my sdcard but I couldn't get to recovery, also, instead of the samsung galaxy logo I got a white screen. I could still get to download mode, and get recognized by odin and heimdall, but can't flash anymore ANYTHING.
Either There's no PIT file or stuck at Get pit for mapping if I do include one.
I've tried 3 different versions of odin.
I've tried heimdall under windows and linux with root without success (Either couldn't set up interface or there's no pit file).
I'm gonna try 1.85 odin tommorow. I lost all hope at this point. ****ed up my partitions.
RIP I9300.
Idk if that may work but you may have a go to just try flashing stock rom with a box. Gsm service points shouldn't take much for it

Your emmc Nand Flash chip died. I had same problem with my n7100 last month. Had to change motherboard.
I took it to a service center. The told me the screen was dead because of the white screen. It was white cus corrupted BL or something, but definitely not the screen, considering you can go into download mode and you can clearly see it's functioning.
I laughed all the way through the front door.
Correct the screen is not the issue. The nand will be borked.

Hi,
My (factory standard, unmollested) GS3 failed, stuck at the Samsung booting screen.
I downloaded the stock ROM (I think) and tried to flash it with ODIN.
It failed and now will only enter download mode.
If I try to enter recovery, I get a screen with looks like static on an old black n white TV (battery removal to escape).
Tried to flash non-touch CWM with ODIN but that fails too, saying PIT not found.
Can it be saved?
TIA
Gareth
Sounds like nand failure. Time to upgrade.
What was the Odin error when flashing a stock ROM?
