I am trying to follow the guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737907 to upgrade to tango.
however when I try to install the first package, I get the error "80180048, error message: UI (image update) installation failed due to an error."
I have tried a hard reset which has made no difference, I have tried the walshed tool and it says that there is no problem.
The phone details are..
carrier: t-mobile v227.05 (UK model)
OS: 7.10.8107.79
Firmware: 1600.2489.8107.12072
hardware number: 112.1402.2.3
bootloader: 7.35.0.0
phone was unlocked by code and is running a virgin mobile uk sim.
i last upgraded the firmware and os with the wp7 update cab tool.
any help would be very much appreciated!!
Try to download and install Windows Phone Support Tool, and then try again.
Version x86 or x64
Same error while using Zune and Windowsphone connector
It seems that the error could be caused by the software of system.
Have you ever tried formatting your nand?

Maybe its because I am trying to do this in XP. I will try on my Windows7 machine early next week and see if that makes a difference.
Still getting the same error:

Hi, I've just put Ubuntu onto my laptop (not dual boot) and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to escape microsoft, however I was wondering if there was any way I could upgrade my spv m3100 without reinstalling vista/xp or doing a sd card upgrade as my card is full of tomtom maps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
ps only doing this in preporation for Schapps latest release !!
probably the easiest way is to use the SD card flashing method, raises the least questions about USB and serieal compatability etc...
I agree with Vanx, the SD card method is the easiest and, IMO, safest way to do it.
However, if you want to try it under linux via USB, check out this thread from Pof:

Hi Guys and thanks for you attention.
I will try to make this as simple as possible. The phone of my friend was soft bricked
he was on 2.3 and tried to install a firmware that was not for that phone and he did not manage to install it
when he tried latter the motorola thinghy told him to Update the firmware and transform his 2.3 to a 4.04
HOWEVER his phone was not booting normally he would need to enter to bootloader and select NORMAL POWER UP
tried to find out the origin of the phone and was difficult to understand his firmware is somenthing like
672.180.41.xt910.02.en.DE
so i followed the guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1883640
and everything when fine until i tried to install the EU OTA
obviously this is not a EU phone....
is it german for the DE at the end?
some guy in another forum is mentioning that maybe this is the razr developer edition (????)
at any rate what i need to do is to install the original OTA but i have no idea which oe can be ..
funny enough if the phone is powered off would automaticly turn on and boot and stay in motorola logo.
any help would be very much appreciated
here you can guys look at some photos that can help

Hi,
I'm really hoping somebody can help me.
I connected to Zune and went through the standard update instructions but the phone froze at "step 9 of 9" - I think this was during a reboot.
It just hung on the network provider screen (Orange UK).
Now, it won't go past that at all.
Orange support will provide a replacement but that won't help since I would like to retrieve my media.
Any help would be gratefully received.
Thanks in advance.
So, I did some digging and found this page:
"support.microsoft. com /kb/2484484#StuckAtSplashScreen"
Followed the instructions and got this:

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",

}
I really hope it's not completely irretrievable!
Tried this too but to no avail...
"windowsdiscussions. com/restoration-error-c101002e-nokia-windows-phone-3445.html"
So, in the end, I managed to flash the phone using:
"youtube. com/watch?v=puTMCG_CiMk"
However, my problem now is, it's written over all of my old media files. I used to be able to undelete files from old PC hard drives however, not sure on how to do it with a phone - any ideas?
Thanks and appreciated!
Come on guys! What does it take to get some Noobie help?!
I've done a lot on my own but could do with some real technical know-how...
Unfortunately I can't help with this, however my sister has just emailed me to say her Lumia 800 ran flat and now won't boot past the Orange logo either.
She had updated to 7.8 a few days ago. Possibly connected...
Hey guys my bootloader suddenly won't allow me to flash anything for some reason. Here's the story about my device.
I recently unbricked it a few weeks ago using DC Phoenix, so everything is working there and I can even flash twrp recovery, but I wanna decrypt my /data so I formatted it on twrp, but it got me into a bootloop.
So I flashed the firmware again via dcphoenix, and repaired the simlock and imei using hcu client, but little did I know, my fastboot is not working properly, but I can't repair it again bec. my license in dcphoenix expired.

What I wanna do now is to update it to Android Pie, but I can't even do it bec. HWOTA and other methods requires flashing something in fastboot. Also I can't update it via dload, it keeps failing at 5%, I got a feeling it's bec. of the Build number it gave me when I flashed the firmware. My last resort would be buying the dc phoenix license again if I get the money.
Here are some more info on my phone:
(my apologies for the big ass images, I don't know how to resize them in this forum)
Bump
update:
i fixed the build number by flashing the service firmware
Ok I was able to update to emui9 via firmware finder while I was on B140 service, everything is solved. I had to do a factory reset to fix the missing imei after the update.

If you don't mind me asking, how'd you flash it in fastboot? It only deals with .img files, while the firmware is .zip (.app after extracting)
I'm stuck in fastboot, because I have nothing to flash
Hello,
I today was trying to install TWRP but accidentally installed it on boot. Now my phone won't turn on.
I downloaded stock firmware and FlashTool and followed instructions on how to install drivers from here: watch?v=7pBQLVmab1M
When I launch FlashTool I get message:
Code:
04/052/2020 15:52:01 - ERROR - Drivers need to be installed for connected device.
04/052/2020 15:52:01 - ERROR - You can find them in the drivers folder of Flashtool.
There are drivers folder and I tried to installing Nicky and FlashBoot drivers but get error message

Anyone knows how to fix this, so I can unbrick my phone?
I also restarted my PC without Driver Signing Signature
Phone: Xperia M4 (E2303)
Bootloader unlocked: Yes
O/S : Windows 10
Oh well, thanks community for Your input.
Fixed my problem via installing Windows 7 on my PC.
After that could flash stock ROM via FlashTool.
