Ok guys ive been trying since the Galaxy Nexus OTA drop to try and port this to our device the GALAXY WIFI 5.0 but im having no luck so I am posting all i know here and I need help from devs please
Status:

Here is a list of what I have done
Ramdisk diff
This is a diff file for the Jellybean ramdisk from ICS. This is from the galaxy nexus and will have to be changed for your specific device. Some notes that are not shown in the diff are that /sbin/adbd and init changed -- These are both binaries so they need to be manually taken from the jb ramdisk.

I still don't understand the obsession with SDK ports and winzip kangbang ports of firmwares from completely unrelated devices.
You're going to experience massive levels of frustration and achieve nothing in the next few weeks that won't be completely invalidated when source drops.

I agree. I'm going to wait for the sources to be released before properly working on JB

Might join you on this if you don't mind? I also, have nothing to do at the minute.
What youa re trying to do is valid, and should be rewarding if it comes to fruition. But first you need a 4.1 kernel to use. If you don't have an appropriate kernel, it will be stuck at the bootloader like you described.
Why even port jelly bean if we dont even have a kernel for our ICS roms yet?

Is that strictly true? With droid 4.1 not being a major update, I can't see there being a HUGE difference in Kernel.

Hope progress on that is still continued, cause without the proper kernel, it will just make ICS on our devices render useless when it comes to core features.

Not being a 5.0 dev or a kernel dev don't hold me to my words, but I believe you must change the kernel before it boots a next android iteration. At least that was the case with honeycomb.

But if I remember rightly, in order to boot CM9 properly on the Nook TABLET, they had to use the GB kernel.

Well Jackpot's CM9 port used the CM7 kernel, if I recall.
Even if it was ported, there still wont be many feature we could use

Hello world
Here is my first (THE first?) Galaxy S II kernel built from sources, to be accurate from Korean SHW-M250S sources which is the reference name of the Galaxy S II device sold here, using XWKDD GT-I9100 initramfs.
Sources are not modified.
Kernel config: /proc/config.gz
1/ First attempt:
SHW-M250S_Kernel_Gingerbread-supercurio.tar
2/ Insecure Kernel, can be used to root your device:
SHW-M250S_Kernel_Gingerbread-supercurio-1.tar
3/ Now built from GT-I9100 sources, still allows easy rooting!
GT-I9100_Kernel_Gingerbread-supercurio.tar
4/ Added CIFS support as module.
GT-I9100_Kernel_Gingerbread-supercurio-1.tar
4/ Automatic rooting! All you need to do is boot, and its magically rooted − su and Superuser.apk installed in /system
GT-I9100_Kernel_Gingerbread-supercurio-2.tar
5/ init.d support! will run anything present in /system/etc/init.d/
GT-I9100_Kernel_Gingerbread-supercurio-3.tar
You'll find Kernel sources on github, explanations in this dedicated thread
Initramfs used is this one: https://github.com/project-voodoo/galaxysii-initramfs-modified
You got me all excited and all you had to say was "Incomming". Dissapointed now
This is the start of something beautiful, nice one SC

Ok so I'll make a "root" kernel from it.
You want to to try and participate? Come on IRC #project-voodoo
Alright!
Just added a new insecure kernel. Adb connection should be run as root by default, starting from that you can install superuser manually.
I also copied the kernel modules in the initramfs, which may solve the previous Wifi non loading problem.
Check the first post.
Please tell me if it worksforyou remember, I don't have the device to test it and it's not the exact source it should be.

Old:
Kernel Devs refrain from making custom kernels for CM7 because the CM team asked them not to, in the alpha stage of the development.
Today i asked Atinm if he could give the green light to the Devs, he replied:
atinm said:
Actually, we don't care if people run other kernels. We just say that we will not debug other people's kernels - so if you have bugs, you go to the kernel developer's threads. Same as on the other Galaxy phones. And there is more chance of your phone being unstable with each nightly when you are on a different kernel and we change the kernel.

CM 7.1 Stable has working bluetooth, and it wasn't a kernel issue, it was a driver source problem, Cyanogen either cracked it ahead of everyone else, or, got access to the missing source code, either way, winning like Charlie Sheen.
I have added my i9100 CyanogenMod 7.1 kernel with BLN support.
Details available here.

I'm aware that there are custom kernels for 5.0 by rumirand and entropy,
but rumirand's kernel is not really 100% compatible with YP-GB70 (KOR) and this is the device that i currently have.
Unfortunately, even in Korea GP forum, there is absolutely no custom kernel for 5.0 (Tegrak Kernel exists for 4.0)
So i wanted to develop it on my own so i've been searching for instructions.
I've instaled ubuntu, installed bunch of stuffs.
but i have no idea how to start. all those guides were incoherent.
can somebody tell me some basic infos and things that i should know for developing YP-GB70 kernel?
I would advice starting with reading about linux kernel structure, how it works etc.
I would like to develop new kernel for 5.0 too
Send from samsung galaxy s wifi 5.0 running paranoidandroid.
search, search, search!
That's what I had to do. I now have a modified, compiled and running kernel with no prior experience. Follow that guide, look at the android site for setting up an environment, etc.
Then you need your source files + initramfs. I don't think samsung has released their initramfs source so you're going to need to find it elsewhere. Samsung stuff is also different than the nexus things that the android site refers to so you need to take bits and pieces of information from places and piece it together yourself. I recommend looking at other kernel builder's githubs too, I've modified others sources and have wound up with good results.

yeah that's what i was doing. i managed to extract initramfs from the zimage but dont know what to do anymore :silly:

yes? i searched github but there weren't any for GB70 (there was g70)
So i just did it by myself, which took me around an hour. Everything was new to me so uploading GB70 initramfs to github took me like 30 mins.:silly:
my next step is to add cwm recovery to the kernel and it;s quite hard. most of the guides written in this forum are usually written for specific devices.
Before you start modifying the kernel, and i suggest you try compiling it to make sure your sources are good.

Just a note..you can't decompile a kernel binary. The farthest you can go is extracting the initramfs from it. To get a kernel you would have to build it from source.

Hi.
I like razr and want jb on it. So im look here and found almost nothing. Most of builds are not actually jb, but ics. Hate this concept, cause it missing almost all improvements that was implemented in jb. So i start my own build. Of course im facing up numbers of issues, but main of it - graphics that builds from sources- almost done. I get working ui but with incorrect resolution(actually resolution is correct, but buffer should be downscaled to 540x960 and this does not happens). Also there are issues with audio but it does not looks like difficult to fix it. So my primary target is to get razr working without any parts of ics in heart(except of blobs). That lead us to easy bringing up of coming 4.2 on our lovely device. So i'm looking for advices as for graphics issues and also as for secure (primary) sdcard mounting.
Of course success result will be available in public and will be adopted for all most popular builds like cm and aokp.

It would be better four you to use kexec because the Moto 3.0.8 kernel is not really good for JB. Its framebuffer is different, that causes the screen roation bug e.g. Kexec is going to work soon, STS Team is working on it and we are also working on our own kexec kernel. As I know everything is working now except the camera (3.0.31+ kernel). It would be too much work to port JB fully to the 3.0.8 Razr and probably it won't work full.
And what do you mean that we have no real JB here? Look at CM10, AOKP and AOSP JB. The problems are caused by the moto kernel. It's hard to get the drivers working well on JB as long as it runs on the ICS kernel.

Well, I bring up TI's tree on my xt910. Yes, there are a lot of issues, but my current target is correct display resolution. That is why I do not care about all other issues. And yes, I like an idea with 3.0.31 kernel with loadable pvr drivers and its relation to latest AOSP.

I done this, right now(finally). The main problem very looks like that actually Motorola developers use a lot of hacks and hardcodes too... And they have completely rewrited hwcomposer.
But power of OpenSource always near me. Thanks to TI for so open platform.
So for now I have valid resolution, so I going next targets like clean sdcard mount and bringing up audio.
Good luck to your work!!!!

Hi all, As I said, here comes the first version of android 4.3 for the x10. This is based on the evervolv ROM.
The binaries can be found in evervolv 4.3 folder.
https://www.wuala.com/CMX10-Releases/?key=CMX10Team
BUGS
NO CWM delivered with kernel
NO CHARGEMON
The WLOD that because famous with android 4.3
Maybe a lot more.
Install
Copy ROM on your SD card.
Wipe Data and Cache
Get into CWM and install ROM.
Flash the kernel.ftf using flashtool
This is an early version, I might not have time to work on it a lot. If someone wants the sources before their released, PM me.
Scritch
PS: Forgot the little disclaimer.
No warranty about this. I can't be blamed if somethings goes wrong or if phone is damaged. Use at your own risk.

There's some pretty cool version of JB. The CM10 now has every thing except hardware video encoding/decoding. Everything else is working nicely.
CM10.1 and Everolv 4.2 and 4.3 have an issue with the kernel. But I can't manage to fix it. So we've been working on newer kernel, 2.6.32 but it has a camera issue. And we're trying to port a newer kernel, but it's not that easy.

Thanks guys, thanks for all your hard work in bringing 4.2 and (now) 4.3 version to our great x10 phone. I am using this phone from 2.5 years and used stock 1.6, 2.1, 2.3 and custom ROMs of Fera, Zahid5h, Scritch, Vasishta, Walker all 2.3, 4.1 and now 4.2.2 ROMs... It's been a great experience with this phone and with great ROMs by great Developers... Thanks a lot guys from all X10 users.
I really hope and wish this 4.3 ROM to be successfull and you people can able to get Linux 3.x kernel working for us..:good::good:

Thanks for feedback.
I wrote, no GPS because I didn't find the icon to disable the GPS. But if you say it work's I'll update first page then .
Yeah WLOD, like for the 4.2.2, it's a shame, otherwise I like the Rom.

Yeah, only place when You change something with GPS options is "Location access" in "Personal"
Some other options i cant find - for example i cant change icns on status bar - wifi, sync or something else - i dont know chow too change it ;p
But ROM can be nice in the future i like it too in alpha stage its better then other in beta ;p
One more thing - is it possible to restore USB charge or something like this to kernel? Becouse i read You remowe this options from source code and from 4.X kernel we cant use other then Sony charger - i have Philips charger for 2 phones but cant use it.
