So, I rooted my NT, got gApps installed and tried to use Titanium Backup to transfer all my apps from my NC to NT. However, some apps they just didn't restore at all, I mean, the screen became frozen. Anyone experienced the same thing?
I am very surprised that worked at all.
You are talking a different processor, different display resolution, and different storage layout.
If the app has cached any details about the hardware, it is going to wind up very confused...
Do folks normally use Titanium Backup to transfer apps from one Android phone family to a different one?

Yes we do. All the time. I don't repay for apps I already bought.
OK - Thanks - I would have thought you would save the .apk files, not the installed running version...

Why would you ever have to repay for an app? Unless you are using a different google account.

When you brick your phone and flash back to stock and then a new rom, you lose your apps. Other than TiB, how do you get them back? Please don't say android market backup/restore, it sucks.
Well, yeah, the restore sucks, if you can even call it a restore. But you don't have to pay for the apps you've already paid for...as long as you're using the same google account the market knows you already paid.
I'm guessing it's because sometimes some apps aren't available for a different device.
In my case, I couldn't find "TuneIn radio" for my NT in either google market or amazon appstore for install. It's normally in those markets, but not when looking for it on my NT.
So I pulled the apk (free version, btw) from my phone with ES file explorer. And side loaded it on to the NT.

Just find the apps in the market, you won't be charged again.

It's exactly the batch operation froze on some apps but not another.
I chose to use TiB because I don't wanna start all my games from scratch.
So ultimately I'd prefer not to root the nook tablet, but my end goal is to be able to use hulu.com's browser based flash video.
Does anyone know if this method works for the NT:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193538&page=4
Is there a better, more simple way, to get around hulu.com seeing the NT as a mobile device? Any web browsers I could just side load and that would be it?
Nope it doesnt work on the tablet just tried on Dolphin HD set to desktop mode instead of android and it tells me its not supported on my platform.
When I first got my smartphone, I bought a subscription to PlayOn.com and downloaded its android app so I could watch shows from Hulu, Netflix, and some other sites if I wanted. When I got my NT, I wondered if the app would work on it too so I copied the files from my phone and sideloaded them onto it. So far it works just fine.
Rooted method works though, if you're willing to go that route. Libflashplayer.so file from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15120307&postcount=65 plus easier instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15326553&postcount=89
Then set Opera user agent to desktop. I'm watching hulu on my NT right now.

That app is listed as not compatible with the NT (Barnes&Noble BNTV250) so it might have to be sideloaded.
Thanks for this suggestion - Do you know if it works as a sideloaded app?
It can be done by buying it on a compatible device (I did it on a HP touchpad with cm7). Then back it up with Titanium Backup, transfer backup files to same folders on NT, and restore using Titanium backup on NT.
The app works pretty well on the NT.
Edit: Oops, just realized Titanium backup requires root also. I did try using ES file explorer, which doesn't require root, but it wouldn't backup that way on my Touchpad.

Its aviable and compatable on amazon app store just search flash browser. This is still $.99 purchase no root required thanks for the tip on the app.
Is this confirmed to be working on the NT? The hacked flash players (from the Nook Color thread/Xoom forum and others) do not work on the NT.
edit: The app that is. I haven't tried messing with the posted libplayer.so replacements, but that's next
Flash Web Browser
I can verify that it does work. I just purchased the app, and it works very well. I'm not going to use it as a default browser, but it's a great browser for streaming flash videos.
Nook Tablet comes with Hulu-plus application and can play movies right out of the box. You don't need to buy or install anything else.
It works also after rooting provided you reject "debloating" option while proceeding with the rooting.
It is not speculations or assumptions but an actual experience.
I'd rather
I don't have a Hulu-Plus subscription... and at $8/mo I'd rather not have a subscription.
Thus the need for a browser that will allow you to browse sites in the same manner as a desktop, including flash.

I second the need for such a browser. So can I purchase the app mentioned above and install it on my NT without rooting? Or do I need to root and install Android Market first?
No need for root
I purchased the app from the amazon app store unrooted, and installed it and it works fine. No need for rooting.
I've noticed a few videos on Youtube that won't run on the browser, but have had no problem with hulu.com.
Can someone post a link for the app? I don't want to root my nook (sounds dirty) I also need help installing. Thanks
Jimmy -
You'll probably get some heckling for not looking around for directions on sideloading apps, but here is a quick review. So I assume if you're asking for help on installation, then you haven't sideloaded ANY apps yet.
If this is the case, you can sideload apps, without rooting, with some simple instructions. The directions I used are found here: http://liliputing.com/2011/11/how-t...ok-tablet-amazon-appstore-go-launcher-ex.html Worked on the first time for me, but you do need to have a micro-sdcard.
Once you've installed your first app you can get a few more (you can find some good apps to install here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351951&highlight=side-load). YOU NEED TO INSTALL AMAZON APP MARKET. After that is installed and you have an account, go to this url on your nook tablet and purchase the flash web browser app: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006IHK9PK
You can install it when prompted, and it should work no problem.

I tried this method with the latest adobe flash player 11 with the Libflashplayer.so file from above. And I am still being blocked by hulu. Im guessing that this is because the modified Libflashplayer.so from above is too old. So, how does one go about modifying the ".AND" to "WIN" ?
I get the problem parsing package. Did everything else right
Got a working solution for Hulu.com and flash 11.0 on a rooted nook tablet; it's not the latest version, but at least it works.
Need to be rooted and have some form of Root enabled file manager.
Uninstall flash and remove flash_player from /system/app
Grab the apk from this post (flash111_work.apk):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19123868&postcount=221
Drop it into /system/app and reboot. Done!
Works on mine with hulu.com through Opera mobile and Dolphin HD, watched a few different clips with great performance, plays 480p rather nicely.
So, I purchased a Nook 16 GB tablet with the hopes of rooting it, and that proved to be very simple. Lots of great instructions from really smart people and all that. I am confused, however, on what apps are available in the Google Play Store and what ones aren't. It was my understanding that, once rooted and flashed ( I flashed CM7 using this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1512373 ) I would be able to install apps from the store, and I can, but common apps like Kindle, Facebook, BofA, etc don't show up in searches and are unavailable for download. I have searched the forums and I can't find a good thread describing how that whole process works. Is it common for these apps to be unavailable or have I done something wrong? Do they need to be sideloaded, and if so, what's the point of having access to the Play Store? Any help or explanation is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

one of the many files the google play store uses to determine what types of apps a device can download and install is called build.prop
this file contains the properties of the device, such as device name, device model, kernel, os, etc...
you might have seen some threads regarding the modification of said file which has proved to work in some cases for getting certain apps to show up in the play store.
hope this answered your question...
I to recently got a nook tablet and flashed the same rom as you. The build .prop fix worked a little bit for me. I ended up trying to change the pixel density which was a big mistake. I had soft bricked my device and had to restore a stock b&n image. I finally settled with cm9 and am LOVING it except for a few bugs. On another note, I tried to install a baseball game from the play store only to be met with "sorry, your device is rooted. Please unroot and try again".

Ok, I thought this was it, but it appears it is more complicated than that. First, I did some digging here on the forums, and found this method that everybody seemed to have luck with. I followed it to the letter, but it didn't give me the access to apps in the store as it was supposed to. Next, I flashed the CM7 Beta that I I know I am able to access the full market with. I copied the build.prop file from that build to my SD card, flashed the ROM I want, and proceeded to replace the build.prop file with the one I put on my SD card. I went in, cleared the cache and data from the market app, rebooted and... nothing. Same restrictions as before. There must be something more to this than just the build.prop file that I am missing.

so i am not too sure why your's doesn't work.
try flashing the cm7 beta but do the following:
wipe data, cache and dalvik caches before and after flashing the cm7 beta. that might be the reason why some apps don't show up. you might still have some residue data from your previous rom that wasn't wiped off...

Hello everyone,
I received a UNIDEN 7" tablet as a gift. 512 ram, 1ghz cup.
This is running android 4.0.4
I am unable to get the google play app store application to install on this device.
Or just the android market itself.
Does anyone have ny idea as to the correct apk file to install so I can start downloading applications?
I have looked at every installed application and there is no app store installed at all.
I have been searching online and trying different things, I can not seem to find any answers and can not seem to fin an app store apk that works...
Thank you for the help y'all
You need to use one of the available app markets on the tablet. The Google play store is not compatible with the device. If you use your browser app, you should come to a Uniden device help menu. Their compatible app markets will under downloads, I believe.

Thats sad to hear google play is not compatible with the device.
You would think that because it is an "Android" tablet, that it would be able to run the google play app, if I can find where to get it.
I did find the app store selection icon, it was almost so well hidden that it almost did not exist. I have an app store that interfaces with google play market, but unfortunately I can't buy any apps, it does not interface with the google play purchase system. I can only download free & trial apps...fail
----------------
Now I'm just working on finding how to root this thing. I'm hoping a generic android 4.0.4 root will work, hopefully it won't be device specific...lol
I don't think there is a stable way to root those. I had mine for an hour before I took it back. I couldn't find any root methods or aftermarket firmware support for it. I quickly lost interest in looking any further when I couldn't find anything on cyanogenmod's forums or xda's.

I followed the directions here: the-digital-reader.com/2012/04/07/how-to-install-google-apps-gplay-etc-on-polaroi-pmid701
then installed superSU and ES File Explorer and removed the old market place apx and added the phonesky apk in /system/app
play store seems to be working, but i haven't purchased anything from it yet, free downloads work in either the new or old versions
Does it function any better?

None of those things make the tablet work better overall, but following the directions from the link leave you with an older version of market that does not fully work.
Replacing that as I described seems to give a working current version. Still havent had need to buy something, but I did trigger installs from the play site and other than not waking the device automaticly that worked correctly as well.
For a $60 piece of hardware I don't think it does too bad. Lags here and there, but plays some of the games my older phones seem to choke on quite well.

Mine didn't have a phonesky apk. I D/L the latest play apk I could find on here and renamed it before placing it in the directory then rebooted. If yours has one I believe you might have to rename it first but I don't know for certian.

Still working on getting this thing to work how we want it to work.

You would think that because its android, it should just work, but I guess that things are just too messed up for a reasonable sense of compatibility on android tablets...

You should take yours back to the store if it's giving you that many issues. I tried to manually add the play apk but it never opened, then I saw this thread and followed the directions in the third post and I now have the most current working version of Play.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2000720
I was also able to overclock to 1.2 using SetCPU.
i found a good method to get playstore on. when i gwt a bit of time i will fin the links. it is easy and has step by step insructions. worked for me and evwn updated the store on its own. so i think it is a good way to do it since it will update... hopefully i can find the linka again. it is all gapps so you will have maps and other crap as well
as always use at own risk I am not responsible for damage etc etc....
here is the market link I used http : / / db.tt/qSnXMWyJ
" http : / / db.tt/SjwfVfUB is the link to root,u need to extract the files and u need to open it up after extracted and look for the "runme.bat" and double click it,look over what it is saying to you and when u are done doing all of the things u hit enter it will do its thing and it may reboot once or twice but when all done it will be rooted "
I don't think you need the second link. It is for root. This is not my work just sharing. It is from a forum on a klu lt7033 tablet. I needed to root it and install market and then I tried the manual install method that is included in the directions and it worked for the uniden as well. you will need root explorer or something along those lines. this has more than just market. don,t know if it is full gapps but includes about 19 apps. I would install them all and afterwords take out what you dont want. just remember after you place the files where they go do not install them just reboot then all should be there. I have only used the playstore and have not checked to see if the other apps run (maps, youtube, google talk......)
enjoy and good luck
I first uninstalled the garbage Amazon marketplace that kept freezing up from the get it go. I would suggest uninstalling any market app you are using before doing this.
1. Download this ZIP file to your computer.
2. Open the Zip file on your computer and copy the contents to a folder on your Polaroid/Uniden tablet via a USB cable. Then unplug your tablet.
3. Once you’ve done that, open the file manager on your tablet and go to the folder where you put the files. Try to install the following apps in this order (double click on the files in order to run them):
OneTimeInitializer-signed.apk
SetupWizard.apk
vending-3.1.3-signed.apk
As a 4th step you might want to press the home button, select the checkmark which says “open always with”, and then select Launcher. This will guarantee that whenever you press the home button you will see the home screen and not be prompted with a menu.
Also an up to date Play store here: [APK] Google Play Store v3.5.16 + MOD - xda-developers
I'm frustrated with Google Market because a decent handful of apps that I want to download show incompatible with my device. But I can't seem to find anywhere to download the apks now either to side load them. I used to use an apk downloader extension with Chrome but that no longer works and I can't get sites like Appbrain, Getjar etc to download the file either. I'm looking for apps like ticketmaster, cvs, target etc which are all free apps.
Any way around the Market issue or a good site without warez to get these apps?
Amazon?
Apps outside of Google Market

I have been playing with a Kindle Fire and have(had) the same issue. I have used 1Mobile Market for most of the apps I previously got from the Play Store (Market). To install the Mobile market app, use the browser and go to their site (1mobile.com/). From their you can download their app with needed installer. After that, a huge variety of apps are available.

I also found a lot of 'uncompatible' apps, but sideloading copies from my phone worked fine...

Indeed, but I tried one which checks for root access after I side loaded it. It wants unrooted devices only. Still hoping for a temp unroot option.
you dudes can use modified play store to access all the apps (not paid app for free indeed)

Like where? Thanks
Don't forget that if you have the apps on another device, you can use a backup app like astro file manager to make an apk of any app.

Gapps, and flash
Flash player works when you install from a download. You can get the most current version by googling flash player versions. adobe has all Android versions on their website. Here's the website to download the most current Version of Adobe Flashplayer I also provided a download below.
K just unzip the app file and install the apk with es file manager that works I have confirmed that flash works on my daughters tablet. Adobe Flash Player works just fine when installed normally.

Voodoo OTA rootkeeper does not work for stock nook? I'm getting the 7'' HD soon but I would like to have Amazon Video installed on it. It checks for root but I used Voodoo for that on my phone

Voodoo programs are usually reliant on Voodoo compatible customized kernels, not stock non altered kernels.
For download apk's from PlayStore I use Real APK Leecher.
And how Real APK Leecher OP proposed i created new gmail account only for this necessity. Device ID i just got at my SGS II. All works like charm. Later i can install it to my phone or rooted Nook HD+ with Android Commander (very handy and great tool).
Amazon app store works ironically just fine.

Not true at all. Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper works on almost every single device running Android.
I should be getting my Nook HD this Wednesday so expect some themes to come sometime next weekend.

You don't want to be using this app on the HD/HD+ since it modifies /system and you will end up getting reset.
