My E10i turns off randomly - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hey all.
I've been having this problem recently with my X10 Mini (E10i the old one)
It first started when I left it to charge in the car for like 1 hour, it was somehow heated up, and when I plugged it off and tried to make a call - it turned off... Didn't minded it then, thought it was some kind of "defense mechanism"
But after that it started randomly to turns off when making call (with MiniCM7) and when taking photos with the Flash ON on low battery.
I reinstalled it to the stock 2.1 rom and I still get the turn off when taking pics with low battery.........
Anyone have any idea?

Please somebody!

Have you reinstalled it through cwm backup or using seus, i recommend that you should try repairing it with seus.
It might help..

It happend to my to!
I think the phone crashed or overheated:silly:

It happened to me with MINICM9. I was stressing the phone when it happened. I booted into recovery menu, i did a factory reset, wiped all cache, and the problem went away. Before doing anything check the phone by stressing it. it may either be an overheating defence or a ROM bug

my e10i shuts down randomly

Hi iam using minicm9 . I have this problem when the phone randomly shuts down by itself , You have written you wiped cache and did factory reset i did the same but the problem still persists , however what do you mean by "stressing the phone". Any suggestion will be highly acknowledged . Thank you in advance .

same problem here DEVS please HELPP!!!!!!

Same problem here...

Maybe as someone said before, the phone might overheated and started going nuts. If your phone is going very hot, buy or take a fan and take of the back case and leave it in front of the fan too cool a little bit. If it some other problem just PM, maybe I can help you!
Press "Thanks" if this helped in some way!

[Q] phone won't charge, boot or go into flash mode

Hey xda crew!
i was hoping you might be able to help me out with this problem i have
I tried to root my phone recently using the "newbies guide to rooting x10" and well when i turned my phone back on it wouldn't turn on and just vibrated constantly untill i took the battery out.
after that i decided to try and reinstall software using SEUS and it told me that it worked. But when i tried to start my phone it again wouldn't start. but this time instead of vibrating the screen light just turned on and sort of flashed every now and then.
I left the phone on all night charging while the screen was doing funny things, in hope that it would eventually start up. but when i got up in the morning the battery had gone dead and all that was happening was the red led light was flashing.
I tried to get it back into flash mode, but because the battery was so dead all the phone would do was the red lights would flash when i plugged it into the computer.
As im not sure that i can claim it on warranty.. i was wondering if my problem lies in the USB cord/charger or the phone its self? or the battery?
Can anyone help me with this problem?
Would be a amazing help.
Thanks heaps in advance.
Well, something probably went wrong when you tried too root it, so it turned into a brick.
You won't be able to claim it on the warranty because you lost that when you tried rooting it.
Get your battery charged (maybe in someone elses x10), and search the forums here, i'm pretty sure that there is a de-brick guide somewhere, although i haven't tried it.
To get into flash mode, your bttry need to be on 50% charged... Your phone must've been booting all night, find a way to charge your battery mate, n then bfore flasing, take out ur battery, hold the back key n insert it back.... Hope this will b helpful...
maguyver it take an old charger cut the end off strip the wires now touch the red to the positive and black to negative of your battery and plug it in... i had to do it for my buddies droid x when i bricked it when it was it it reads as full charge but you only wanna have it plugged in like that for like 10 min tops

Guess there's not many to help in this issue. I just faced the same man. Don't know what to do. It won't go to flash mode, SEUS don't recognize, neither the flash tool. Reinstalled PC companion thinking the drivers have gone wrong but that don't seem to be the issue.
So im here with a bricked x10, lol but not funny ppl
Someone(recognized developer) in the forum said that the X10 can't b hard bricked. Also, i got this problem 2-3months back. But now its alright.
SEUS did't find the drivers for my x10. Then i went to my friends home(who also has x10) and flash my x10 using seus. I found drivers because drivers were already installed on my friend's pc.
So, i just want to tell you that:
Flash your X10 from that PC which already has drivers installed.
Remember your x10 can't b hard bricked. It will be semi-bricked.
Sorry for my bad english

I'm not a DEV
But I played and bricked and de-bricked my x10 a lot and I literally installled and tested almost all ROM's the dev's posts
So, this is what I feel would've happand.
First of all, u didnt mention if u were on 2.1 or 2.3.
Because rooting 2.3 is not as easy as 2.1.
Now, like what most people commented, you root must have been broken.
Also, what I feel is that your battery stats were wrong.
That means, your battery was not holding the proper charge what it was actually "showing" (charging is infact is software based).
Now, what you actually can do is, find another person who has an X10 near your place.
Put ur battery in his cell and check whats happening.
If its really out of juice, then use "his" phone to charge your battery.
Charge it to full and then put it back to ur phone and try starting your phone.
If the vibration thing is happening, then ur battery is good.
Now open flash tool, and remove battery from ur phone.
Connect USB to phone and comp, and press the back button and hold it, and while holding it, insert the battery.
From my experience, you should be seeing the green light now, and my openion is that u flash the 2.1 generic firmware and then rroot the phone first, install recovery and after doing these, install any of the custom ROMs available.
I'm using Wolf's ROM v 4.04 and its very stable.
All the best and report back if your problem is fixed.

Random reboot-solved, hope this helps someone.

I know more than a little about Android. I've been hacking and Romming since back in 2007. Last Friday my 3D started rebooting randomly. I tried everything I know. Reflashed different ROMs, same thing. Reflashed the aio 2.17 update. Same thing. reflashed recovery(twrp), same thing. Got 4ext and flashed that, same thing. I didn't know what else to do. Copied all the card to PC, reformatted and copied back, same thing. I had some clues, the GB ROM i was running (CleanROM Reborn) would sometimes report 0% battery. It also would almost never reboot on the charger,
I installed a fresh ROM (MeanROM ICS) and all seemed fine till it randomly factory reset while I was at a gig Sat night!! A week or so ago I was in Austin and left it charging in the car and went swimming. When I got back the battery was reporting overheat. I cooled it off with the AC vent and all seemed well. A few days later, I had a bootloop, thought it was the kernel and did a battery pull. Somehow I must have gotten something on the contacts or didn't seat the battery. I pulled the phone out of my otterbox today and cleaned the contacts and put it back in. powered it up, haven't had a problem since (knock on wood) I'm planning now to get a replacement battery in case I fried mine but only time will tell. I hope this info will help someone at least try the simple stuff first without all the headaches I've had the past 4 days.
This issue happened to my evo 3D : it turned off without reasons.
Sometimes, the battery icon became grey so impossible to see the battery level and few minutes after, it turned off.
One day, it turned off and impossible to power up. I sent it to the repair center and the issue came from battery and other components (contacts with the battery). After other comments on the internet, I'm not the one to met this problem so if it can help you I think that some evo 3d have this issue natively.
PS : sorry for the possible mistake in this message, my english is so bad
to fix random reboots, power off your phone to clear the cache, remove the battery for 30 seconds, place it back in, and power it up. Once it boots up completely, reboot your phone (don't shut down just restart). You should be good. This clears up the bad cache that causes rebooting.

Good post. Yes, I can see this happening for sure. My battery seems a little loose but I have not had this problem. If it turns out I ever do, then this would be my first guess.
I once had an Acura Legend that for no reason would just stall on the road and die. It was very irritating. One time had to have it towed. I had it in two different garages and neither one of them could fix it and told me there was no problem. But sure enough it happened again. The problem was intermittent.
I had it towed again home to my driveway. I'm sittin in it and thinking. For some reason I started jiggling the keys in the ignition and it would start and stall just by doing that. It was a bad ignition switch. I had never had one go bad before. I replaced it myself and all was well.
I went back to one the garages I took it to and told them I found the problem and what it was. The guy said yeah I knew that was the problem and said he told me so. I could have strangled the guy. Never happened that he told me that. They had even charged me $75.00 for fixing nothing. I never went back to that garage. The other garage I didn't bother telling.
Anyway, your battery problem reminded me of all that. Something I'd rather forget about. Thanks.

Yes that would be q normal fix. I tried clearing cache and dalvik AND flashed ROMs and the problem persisted. So far, it's stayed solved. I settled in MeanROM ICS, which I highly recommend btw and have had no reboots that I didn't initiate. I just thought it wierd that a hardware issue would manifest itself that way.
Freeza's All-in-one firmware update helped me as well:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21374142#post21374142
The OP has described my experience to a T. In fact I tried all of those things in that exact order.
I have always suspected the battery but I have tried moving it around in the compartment with the phone on and can't force a reboot. Plus, when mine reboots, the screen freezes for a few seconds, which tells me it hasn't lost power and is most likely a corruption or fault of some kind.
Since upgrading the Kernel I have had less reboots, but it sill randomly happens once a week.
This has been true for 4 different ROMs now.
I have other thoughts that this is either an app crashing the kernel or my cpu can't tolerate even default speeds. None of which I have tested yet.
So friggin annoying!

Yeah, the kernel has something to do with the random reboots too. I had it with some of the dodava kernels. It would happen after unplugging from the charger. I did notice that right before, there would be touchscreen issues. Lag mostly in sipping between homescreen panels or opening apps.

I cleaned the battery contacts. A Q-tip and alcohol to remove any crud. Let it dry, and put the battery back in making sure not to touch the contacts.

Yeah, I'm running proper firmware for my ROM. That was one of the things I tried when I was figuring out wth was happening. My biggest clue was radical difference in battery level on reboots and the system ui battery reporting crashing. I knew then it wasn't the firmware.

[Q] SGS2, more than sleep of death

Hello all, i have searched the forum for the past weeks now for a solution of the SOD (sleep of death), all i can find is new problems but no actual solution. But i think my GS2 is having more than just a sleep of death. It just doesnt tolerate my screen going of. From what i could find, most people have SOD when their device go into DEEP SLEEP. With mine, anything that causes the screen to go dark (e.g power saving during a call) crashes the phone. And it doesnt end at that, Getting the phone to reboot might take me up to 2hrs!!!! when i remove the battery and turn on the phone, its goes directly to CWM and selecting reboot, the screen stays dark and i have to repeat the process all over again till i get lucky (after about 2 hrs) for the phone to reboot (From CWM). Yes, i clear cache.
when the battery is below 30% the phone isnt such a diva, it still have this screen off pain in the a** thing, but rebooting isnt such a pain as when it goes dark and i have to reboot when the battery is at about 80-100%
-Am running CM9 along with the kernel it came with
-flashed different roms but all came with the same problem
-even unrooted and went back to original rom, but still had the same problem
-The phone was once repaired from water damaage. Including a battery change
-Since i started running CM9, while charging the phone, it doesnt get insanely HOT as when it was running original rom or any custom rom
-Downloaded wake lock to keep my phone always on, 24/7 so i kinda feel sorry for the phone as it is always on... and i miss my lock screen
please all u android gurus, help me out with this problem. I totally love this phone and its my first android.
All I can suggest is flash stock ROM, get rid of triangle on boot if you have it and go to service center.

Well thx for the reply. As I mentioned, the phone had water damage before so the warranty is void as they can link any single fault to the water damage. I Also found a spartanian way to solve my problem. I play music on the background and take out the volume. So now my music is on an infinite loop!!! Now I can put my phone to sleep and the battery last way longer than leaving the screen on all the time.
But still, any other suggestions are welcomed.

I have exactly the same problem as you.
I replaced usb port and battery, but still the problem.
For me it works better when the battery is low, than i'm able to send phone in to sleep and wake it up again, but while charging of with the 2000mAh Samsung batterie, the phone freezes in standby and i often can't get it running for a while. I also had your problem, that the phone boots into cwm sometimes.
Could you find a Solution? I also have no warranty and don't want to buy a new mainboard, it's to expensive.

If water damage happened recently (in the past month) I think your problem is water damage, because i think that when you took the phone on repair, they missed some spot cleaning the liquid on the board/under IC's (in the BGA), and now it started messing the circuitry. It has nothing to do with software, but there is one last thing you could try - JTAG... And i work in a service for repairing mobile phones .
Sorry if my English is bad.
Whenever a device goes to cwm upon reboot, software is misbehaving.
Keep on stock, plain stock.
If you like, you can use a nuke script to clean the device for custom ROMs leftovers.

[Q] Phone bricked overnight

I really thought I would find some answers by search but nothing came up... everyone seems to have some kind of screen working but mine is simply dead.
My phone is completely dead this morning, went to bed with battery almost full (unplugged) and woke up to a black screen and no reaction to anything whatsoever. Removing the battery, plugging charger, plugging in a computer, nothing seems to work.
The phone has been rooted for a while (only rooted, nothing else installed/changed)
aside from sending it for jtag, is there anything else I can try?

Are you able to go into download mode? If not there's two of us.
My sisters S2 was at 76% battery when the phone shutdown suddenly. And after she noticed that her phone was turned off, it wont turn on again.. no recovery, no download, no bootlogo nothing.
The only sign of life is that the upper half of her S2 is a little bit warmer then the lower half, nothing else..
Can some1 maybe explain why this happened? Thanks in advance!

Why does it happen ? Your guess is as good as anyone else's. Like any other electronics, phone's fail randomly for no apparent reason.
You're only going to find out if it can be JTAG'd if you send it to a JTAG repairer, otherwise it will be a hardware issue, and given a lot of stuff is on the motherboard, they generally replace that.
Is there anything else you can do if you're getting absolutely nothing out of the phone (no boot, no DL mode, no recovery) ? No.
Unfortunately I don't think there's anything you can do if you can't even boot into download mode.... Also I'm afraid there's a chance they are not gonna fix or replace your phone for free because it's rooted, even if the problem is hardware related. Good luck.

Sans here. When plugged in it gets a little warm on the top above the battery and that's it. Absolutely nothing else.
I guess I'll send it for jtag...too bad phone is not hacked yet on the N7 just the SMS works or I'd use the tablet for now.

exactly the same deal here (except I was at work, got a call, put the phone back on the desk, 30 mins later phone won't awake from sleep and no reaction when plugged or anything).
I'd say the Maya predicted the apocalypse for our GS2... I'll send it back for repair next Monday, but going back to my old Nokia N95 feels very, very, very bad.

My vibrant turns off by itself and it's unusable

Secuence of events that happened BEFORE the problem started:
1-Had a working rom of CM7.2
2-Battery was going out too quickly (7 hours or so) therefore I tried wiping battery data
3-Charged the phone
4- Unplugged it, took a picture
Problem:
One hour later I realised it was turned off...
I turned it on again, it turned off soon afterwards
for a moment it had a problem turning on (it wouldn't go past the cm logo)
afterwards it was even worse; it turned off before even passing the first logo, I couldn't even get it to recovery mode.
Solution Attempt no.1
Tried to get it to stock rom with Odin.
I was able too... but the problem persisted in the new Rom.
Solution Attempt no.2
Tried to get another rom
My situation NOW
I'm back on stock Rom. If I leave my phone alone for like an hour or so it works for 20/30 secs before turning off... After that the problem gets worse till I cannot boot.
Any ideas guys?
How old is the battery? There are apps on playstore to check your battery, thats where I would start. It doesn't sound like a Rom problem, sounds like hardware.ie battery first. Gluck.

Can't have the phone on for 1 minute, forget about downloading and using an app from the store...
I don't know if it's a hardware problem since it happen really suddenly...and just the day after I resetted the battery stats ..... Maybe it is a hardware issue but I want to be sure I tested everything first
Hey, maybe you moved on but I was having the same issue on every ROM.. stock or not. being the detective I am I investigated and inspected.
One of my battery connecting pins is loose even though it's pressed tightly in the case any moderate amount of force or impact loosens it from the contacts.
My temp solution for you would be to add something to the back cover to apply enough pressure to keep the battery still or resolder the copper connectors. The first being easier.
