[Q] Forcing S-Voice to use Google Music - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Is there any way to force S-Voice to use Google Music App instead of the stock music player.
For example you say: "Play *Song Title*"
And it plays the song from your Google Music account.
I've tried setting Google Music to the default player and that doesn't work.
S-Voice will still attempt to play the song using the TW Music Player.
Any ideas? Has anyone tried deleting the stock music app?

I think you'd have to decompile the apk and edit it

This would be correct. Most likely the APK is looking for the file name of Samsung's Stock Music Player.

Too bad. I don't store any music locally, for the most part.
It would be handy since I tend to listen to music in the car which is exactly when I'd rather usr voice commands.
Slightly off topic but I would assume this also means a modified apk would be needed to wake up S-Voice from WidgetLocker or the like.

[Q] Download via Google Music... Listen via Music App?

I've downloaded a few albums from Google Music. Would like to play them with the built-in Music app, but Music doesn't see any of my downloaded music.
Root explorer showed me the music downloaded from Google Music was in :
\sdcard\Android\data\com.google.android.music\cache\music
I tried copying the music folder over to the external card sdcard2 (where I'd really LIKE to store my music), but the Music app still doesn't find it.
Most surprisingly, I can't find a setting for either Google Music or Music to specify a download or Music folder.
Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?
If you purchased the music from google music the music isn't actually on your device, it is in the cloud on google music servers. Only way to get stock htc music player to see that music is to download the music from google music and put it directly on your device.
Hope that helps.

Yes.... that's what I'm trying to do. I downloaded Google Music from the cloud by "making music available offline", but the stock htc music player won't see it
Not true, R2does the developer from the dinc forum has a paid app that allows you to do it. Never tried it myself, but heard good things about it. There is also a Google music importer on the market that does the same thing. You have to download it as offline library, but other music apps will be able to play it.

Thanks, found Google Music Importer on the market. I'll give it a try.

[Q] Music App: Custom music folder selection

Hi,
I have total recall working on phone and it stores call conversations on phone, the problem is the music player also adds them in available songs
is there any way to restrict music player to look under specific folders only for songs?
or, if there is anyway I Total Recall can store files that cannot be seen by Music app (media scanner)?
To select a certain music folder yourll need a non-stock music player from the market like PowerAmp or something like that.Stock players dont give you much choice. My ROM has a call recorder but it goes where it goes so not much to say there sorry.
Ubermusic supports folder playing;-)

Music player which supports adding multiple files to playlist?

Is there any free music player app right now that can do that? I have tried all sort of music players such as google music, winamp, etc but all players requires me to manually press and hold each mp3 file to add to a playlist. Is there any app that allows us to choose all the files we want and subsequently add to playlist??
Thanks.
bump. anyone?

thanks for your suggestion! I've tried nexmusic but it still requires manually adding of music one by one to a playlist. or is there something I'm missing?
nrg player does have the function to add multiple songs into 1 playlist!! but it's a trial and the interface is slightly bad :X
thanks!
edit: I need the playlist because I use the Zombies Run app during my run to listen to my music and the app only play musics via playlists. However, the songs added to the playlist in nrg player isn't recognised!!

[Q] How to play offline music in default player NOT Google Play Music

Okay I purchased music using google play music. I can listen to the music offline with Google Play music, but my default OEM/factory Galaxy music player doesn't detect the music I purchased. Also I found out Google stores the files here:
/mnt/sdcard/android/data/com.google.music/files/music
When I went to that dictory I noticed the MP3 file was named 724.mp3 I'am able to point poweramp to that folder and play it but with the galaxy I don't see any options to force it to point to any directories. I like using the Samsung OEM player. Is it possible to get my default player to play this?
Funny thing is when I use root explorer to play the song it uses the Galaxy music player to play it but when I goto the Galaxy music player it doesn't detect the song.

if you use the play website rather then the app you can download it a certain number of times, just as MP3s. You may have to do that on the computer. You can allow download the music manager on your computer and it will download your whole library without it counting against your download limit... But you do have to download the whole thing, then add what ever album you want to your phone. I prefer to just get a big SD card and go this route. I just download and manage my own music, and think of the online copy as a backup.
Not a perfect answer, but at least a version of what your trying to do, if you were unaware.
GMusicFS is an option, but probably won't do exactly what you're asking either.

[Q] Play Music --> HTC Music App

Hi all. Quick question:
I have google play all access, and I have stored the music locally on my device. I was wondering if there is a way to get all of my google play music files to play through the HTC Music app. Reason being, I want to install the Harmon-Kardon edition mod, but looks like the most benefit comes from using the HTC Music app. Does anyone know how I might go about sourcing all the google play files onto the HTC Music app?
Stock rooted, S-OFF, with latest OTA
Thanks!

The Harmon Kardon mod is really about enhancing compressed music, though it also supports 192khz via flac's, but you are asking about Play Music, which is compressed, even at high quality. The bottom line is that the mod works on all music apps, from Spotify, to Google Play Music exactly the same as it does for the HTC Music app. Technically, you can play the G Play music mp3's on any player, if you are rooted. You just need to move them to another folder. The down side is that the G Play app names all of the songs numerically, like 7483.mp3, so in the end, you are better off just using whatever music app you normally use.
another thing you can do is go into your default.xml file and edit the line pertaining to music channel (turning it on the rebooting, making sure the change has been saved). This allows me to play my playlists off Google music with the HTC player features, giving me access to the visualizer, lyrics (when applicable) etc, and the HK mod icons are active
Soon as I start a song, I get a notification that Music Channel is available, I click the notification and there it is
