[Q] Stuck on boot screen (Nightmare Sense 4.0 v1.0 Amaze) - HTC Amaze 4G

Every time I flash that ROM (Any 4.0 ROMs in general) I get stuck on the boot screen! It's been 2 hours and still on the screen? Am I missing something, doing something wrong or do it really take that long?

What was your software version before you flashed the rom? GB or ICS?

What recovery are you using? If it's not 4EXT recovery, you will need to flash the boot.img file included in the rom file separately, that's the kernel and without it the device won't boot, you can find how to flash this in the amaze bible thread.

I am using 4EXT Recovery Touch v1.0.0.5 RC5

Did it say anything about rebooting to flash a kernel when you were done flashing the rom of your choice? And this may not be necessary, but did you wipe before installing?

no, and yes I did a full wipe, After like 5 minutes the buttons light up and vibrates but then it just sits there, and after about a minute to 30 seconds the lights flicker a bit and vibrate again? I really want this ROM but I don't even know what to do?

It may be due to the kernel not being flashed, open the rom zip file and pull the boot.img file, you have hasoon's tool, correct?
Well place the boot.img file (you'll just see boot, not the .img part)
Create a new text document and copy this to it
ECHO OFF
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
then save the file inside hasoon's tool, data folder, choose plain format and instead of saving it as a text document, put boot.bat, once it saves, put your phone into fastboot and run that file, it should flash the boot.img to your device and reboot it, tell me what happens next.

Ok, hold on. I'll try

OMG, I can't believe I spent the whole night trying to figure it out and that's all I had to do! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

OK. So first of all, calm down. Second of all, can you explain clearly what you did (step by step), and what isn't working, and what you are trying to do.
I can't make head nor tail of your story, but it sounds like you installed a new ROM and didn't wipe the data, and now can't do something to do with recovery.
Have you read up on flashing etc before doing this?

Your apps will remain unless you did a wipe.
And there is no need to flash recovery each time. This is fixable though. If you are able to flash VR12, it will install a recovery image for you automatically.
Do you have adb set up, as if so, this is pretty easy to do?
What writting comes up?
Edit... I'll leave you in Pulsers capable hands

Don't use MSN, I'm afraid, but if you go to www.villainrom.co.uk and go to "Follow us" and then click IRC, you can come to the instant chat and explain what's happened there, and you'll get it sorted It's like a group MSN

[Q] Problem flashing MIUI - hboot 1.5

So I was walking my girlfriend through rooting her new Evo3D, and we couldn't get the phone to get past the 'MI' logo, so I figured it was a kernel thing. After four kernels and two versions of MIUI I realized that it wasn't the issue, it was the hboot.
She didn't back up, she has only had it since last night. I now know what I need to do to flash the ROM, but how can I get her back to stock so I can get the app needed?
Any help?
She has HBOOT 1.5, right?
Go back to the folder where you did all the rooting. Get the stock MIUI kernel (boot.img from the flashable zip) and place it in that folder. Open up a cmd and navigate to that folder.
Boot her phone into fastboot mode. (Vol down + power while the phone is off. Hit power button to select fastboot once it goes into bootloader) Plug the phone into the computer via USB
Type 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' in the kernel. If it successfully flashes, you are done! MIUI should boot up now that it has the appropriate kernel. You will need to do this for any ROM you flash.
As long as you have a recovery, just flash whatever rom you want through fastboot and the kernel will stick.
Or just download a stock rooted rom and flash that the same way you just tried to flash MIUI. It will work since you still have the original kernel.

Well, ROM's cant be flashed through fastboot. The ROM is flashed through recovery. Then you go to fastboot and flash the kernel with my guide above. After that, everything should be working fine.

Hopefully this works! Shes at church right now but I will have her do this ASAP and I'll report back!
(Awesome response time BTW)
Roms are flashed through fastboot just by loading your recovery into fastboot.
I never flash roms and kernels separately. Just go into fastboot, load your recovery, and flash as you normally would.

I had something similar when flashing MIUI. if you boot the recovery.img from fastboot it should work. you may want to re download just in case of a bad download.

I'm having the same problem as epicchase. have attempted to flash miui many times. at first i tried to do it through my recovery. it didn't work. then i tried to use the fast boot method and flash it from the recovery that i opened from fast boot. i'm quite frustrated. it just wont boot miui, is it the kernel, i'm new to rooting in general but i think i know what i'm doing. i have spent who knows how many hours trying everything i can. i tried flashing the boot.img and the ROM separately. I have successively flashed android revolution hd, but that's no fun, its nearly the same as the stock ROM any suggestions would be appreciated. it boots but i guess it must be a boot loop but idk all i know is it freezes in the middle of the boot animation.
ps. i am rooted using the htc official method (unfortunately) and am s-on)

well it didn't work it did the same exact thing. I've been giving it about 10 mins to attempt to boot is that long enough? I'm new to non sense roms I've only ever used sense, is there something I'm forgetting to do that is different for non sense roms. *frustration* (and i thought i was beginning to understand this)
---------- Post added at 09:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:46 PM ----------
okay well i tried to flash cyanogenmod 7 still no dice. I must be an idiot, sorry for being a noob.
this is what im doing.
im placing the .zip on root of my sd card. then opening my cmd.
i then type " cd c:\android" (i saved the recovery image in a folder named android) it says
"c:\android" just as it should i then type "fastboot boot recovery.img"
it restarts my phone in recovery
i press install .zip from sd card then click wipe cache and dalvik cache it goes and does its work
i then select the superwipe.zip it says flash compete however it says error or something but i just kind of ignored it.
i then select my miui.zip that i got from www.miui.us
i then select install .zip files the first thing that comes up is "md5 check fail- ignoring" and the continues and flashes (i have no clue what that part means but i continue anyway)
i select reboot and it starts to boot my phone i get the white screen with green htc.
i then get the miui boot animation for anywhere from 2-5 seconds and then it freezes.
i sit and nearly just stare at it and the clock. i wait at least 5 mins but have waited up to 30 mins.
the boot animation never restarts i just freezes there making me think it is not a boot loop (however the definition of an actual bootloop is slightly vague to me.)
anyway thanks for reading and if you have any suggestions i will be very happy for now im just gonna run my android revolution hd rom.
If superwipe isn't working, fastboot to recovery, go to the wipe menu, not install a zip, wipe dalvik, cache, and factory reset. Don't do the factory reset in android, do it in recovery. I'm guessing you got a corrupt download of superwipe, I would redownload it and try it again if I were you.
Try using this one.

[Q] Help! MiUi cant revert!

Help im desperate. first time poster been lurking for a while...
I flashed miui to try it out i liked it fooled around a bit with it but now i want to flash a new rom. i cant do nothing with the phone. i can only recover back to my miui backup. My AOSP/Sense backups get stuck on boots same with new roms. Off the top of my mind, Hboot 1.50, Tiamant(sorry if i mispelled) kernel, and the rest i cannot remember. i will edit with more specifics later on but if someone can help please do.
try booting into recovery from fastboot.
for example, go to fastboot, and plug into a computer with working fastboot drivers. type:
fastboot boot /recovery.img
(where /recovery.img is the path to whatever recovery img you're using)
then restore yoru backup

You should have a sense kerenl to get sense roms work....
Follow the steps from the link below and you will be good to go.....you can skip step 2 if you have a working recovery but for step 3 you will need flash image GUI app.

wait you flashed a stock (sense) kernel onto a miui ROM? that's no good.
have you tried the fastboot method, it should work no matter what ROM you flash, the way dkdude said in the second post here?

oh no......i told to use sense kernel for sese rom to work.........i.e aosp kernel for aosp roms to work..............now you have only 1 way to get it work
1. boot into bootloader
2. select fastboot ( you should have necessary fastboot , adb files)
3. connect to pc(phone should say fastboot usb)
4. then flash a boot.img from the rom you want to flash using command " fastboot flash boot boot.img"
5. then type "fastboot boot recovery.img ( you recovery may have different name)"
6.Flash a superwipe tool.
7. then flash the rom from which you have flashed the boot.img in recovery.
8.Reboot the phone.
Hope this helps.........
And please from next time read the steps in link in post 3 carefully......
You should not choose stock kernel on MIUI or Cyanogenmod
Its for sense Rom Only. And Use only sense kernel on sense rom and aosp kernel on aosp rom.
Those steps are for flashing Roms without a PC.
the step 1 clearly says to choose a zip file of a ROM not a kernel zip.
If you dont want to use pc follow steps from step no 4 ( link given in post 3.......but as you have flashed a stock kernel...you shoul now flash a sense rom) and check whether it works otherwise folllow the above steps.
And the black screen with everything working is due to mismatched kernel/ROM

[Q] INstallation of

I know that I must have missed a step in these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29417266&postcount=1397
I am using an rooted EVO lte, with S-On (why I followed this thread with specific instructions with work around instructions)
I downloaded the zip file and was able to open up FlashImage and flash the zip file (the software found the correct file after indexing the .zip file). I rebooted the phone and held down volume down to get to the bootloader screen.
The only options I have are:
Fastboot
Recovery
Factory Reset
Clear Storage
Simlock
Image crc
Show Barcode.
I have tried Fastboot, recovery, and factory rest but all just restart the phone. When I try to restart the phone, it cycles through the HTC loading screens and then reboots again.
Is there anyway to save my phone?

Relock and run an RUU from the fastboot menu
If you use flash image you don't need to hold anything it has the option to boot recovery, it is only for the kernel, from there you boot to recovery and flash the rom and that should be it
The phone wont boot, so flash image GUI is useless. Exactly why I suggest people dont use it
The op never stated whether they actually flashed the ROM, for some reason they booted to the boot loader manually?
The way I read it the phone will only boot to the bootloader

I believe you are right. I tried to follow this step but could not verify it was done correctly.
The ROM is flashed seperately from the kernel, as soon as flash img is done it gives the option to reboot directly into the recovery, this is because the ROM is flashed next. Since you are going from sense to aosp you need to clear dalvik, cache, factory reset, then system wipe and then install and select your rom. Anytime you install a different ROM sense or aosp, you need to wipe the phone. Take a look at my guide, I go over the various issues that could happen and do my beat to explain why. I also list a ton of info in android in general

[Q] HTC One X+ enrc2b (International) Stuck on spinning Cyanogenmod logo

So a few days ago I got completely fed up with the stock rom and wanted to try out cyanogenmod on my HTC One X+ (the international version). I've unlocked the bootloader, rooted and have replaced the recovery with twrp v2.8.7.0. All was going well until I wiped everything (which included the os), so now I'm stuck without one. Cleverly, I made no backup to restore to. Using fastboot and adb, I've been pushing various roms and attempting to install them; the installs are apparently successful but when I try to launch the system I'm stuck on the spinning cyanogenmod logo. This seems to be a pretty common problem among everybody using custom roms and the fix for this seems to always be go and factory reset the device, wipe things etc, which I have been doing anyway each time before installing a rom. I've been doing this in circles for the last day and a half, is anybody able to help?
