[Q] Force "Load more details" in native e-mail app - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok I know there's only been one topic about this in the thread a long time ago, but no real solutions yet. In the native email app with the Samsung Galaxy S3, whether I load my hotmail or my work exchange emails, I need to constantly scroll to the bottom and click on "load more details" to fully load the e-mail. this is ANNOYING and I'm shocked that by now, Samsung/Google would not have addressed this. I already have it loading all images & all file sizes in the custom options, hoping this would have helped, but nothing. Please can someone help???

anyone?

Exact same problem.

I'm surprised it works that way on the S3, because it works "normally" on the Galaxy Nexus (no need to "Load More Details" with Hotmail activesync). I was unpleasantly surprised when I got my 7.7 tab.

[Q] re-arrange items/apps in "share via" list

hi
here's a little pet peeve of mine
whenever i go to share a picture, website link, etc i am presented with a *huge* list of apps that i could ever possibly use
but here's the truth - i only ever use three (maybe four) of those apps
and, just an extra bonus, those three or four are distributed all up and down that list - and yeah, the gmail icon is at the bottom! lol
is there *any* way to modify that list??
or an app that lets us mod that list??
i'm asking you guys cuz you would know
and... if anybody wants an idea for an app to build... there ya go! i'd pay 99cents (heck, probably even 1.99) for such an app!
and, while i'm asking, i might as well say what would be just killer features ---- allow us to pick the say top five apps that would always show up, and the last entry says "all" so the entire list becomes available
would be good to be able to sort the apps that show up in that list too
anyway.. just gonna throw that out there
??
no one has anything to say about this?
Shame that there are no replies, as this is also bugging me. Here's a bump for the topic.
Annoying me as well. Recently downloaded a QR app and the damn thing added TWO entries. I'd love to be able to remove everything but email, facebook, and messaging...
How can this still be an issue
I can't believe there's no way to filter the list or at least sort the list in order used.
'Intents' and MIME-types
Recently I find that I've become rater annoyed with the list for "share via", and started wondering how I might go about deleting specific items or at the very least rearrange the order in which they appear.
I've been unable to find the answer, as most threads, only consist of the question, and no answers.
I did however find out that what causes an app to appear in the "share via"-list is an 'Intents'-argument with regards to MIME-types (.jpg or .txt etc.) when coding the app.
See: (add the http yourselves, as I'm unable to, with this being my first post)
stackoverflow .com/questions/7891473/how-to-write-an-android-share-plugin
&
stackoverflow .com/questions/3553017/android-share-via-dialog
That means, that in order to remove them from the list, we would need some app, like LBE Privacy Guard, that could limit the "offending" app's 'Intents' in certain regards.
However I've been unable to find anyone that seems to know which file to tweak in order to rearrange the order in which they appear.
I doubt this helps anyone very much, but it may just lead someone on the right path to maybe coming up with a fix for this.
Try 'Andmade Share' from the market, seems like it would be what you're after.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5hbmRtYWRlc29mdC5zaGFyZSJd
or
share customizer
Play link
Feature request added at code.google 2012-01-25
It would appear that a feature request has been put in at code.google at 2012-01-25
(Again add the http-part yourselves)
code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24741
While we are waiting for this "obvious" feature, the above reply's seem to offer what I'm asking for, at least in an app, though it ought to be built in...
Thx a lot itscro & biopsin
EDIT: I think I'll pass on the Share Customizer, with all the funky (chinese?) writing, and dec. 2011 latest update.
Andmade Share however looks like a winner, and I like the fact, that it doesn't require any permissions...
Awesome. Andmade Share seems to do the trick. Love it when old threads are brought back to life and solve a problem.

Maybe not right now, but give it time, JB isn't exactly widespread just yet.

Emails not cached for offline use.....

Hi there, I have searched, I'm sure the answer must be here, but can't find it.
Am I right in saying that the email (not Gmail) program doesn't download emails to allow you to view them when you might not have a connection to a network?
I can't find the setting for this for the life of me, is this one reason to go for a 3rd party program?
Many thanks...
Screen shot the email you want to view for later?
Not really an answer but an alternative.
Sent from my GT-I9100
Thanks, but the whole problem happens when I'm moving about my work which is a large building, I haven't opened up an email yet and when I go to I happen to be in an area where there's no network (cellular or wifi), so I haven't had the chance to screen shot it first.
Any other ideas? Surely others must have found it maddening too?
Sorry to be a pain, but is everyone else experiencing this? Any workarounds?
Many thanks

Bump!
Whilst I'm at it, is there a way to stop the screen turning off when the phone is plugged in? I'm beginning to think I'm missing some settings somewhere, these are such basic things which I've had on other phones for years........

Not sure if you're correct. I suppose you're referring to the stock email program that comes with the SGS2?. This has been modified slightly by Samsung - but, either that, or the stock android email client both do download a certain amount of your emails from the server - Go into the mail program, clickon the options button, click More...select account Settings, select "Size to retrieve emails", and choose 5 kb as a start. This should cover most txt emails.
Riz
That's the problem-I have no option to change the size downloaded.
Any other UK O2 users out there?
Can any other O2 UK users confirm whether they have this setting option our how they've got around this problem?
Many thanks.
K9 mail allows you to set the download amount.

Email attachments

I just got a Viewsonic Gtablet with Android OS 2.2 and Tap UI 1.1-3588.
From everything I've read I should install a ROM like Vegan but I read that a 'stable' release will be available soon, so I was kinda waiting for that since I am new to all of this.
For right now, I can open my web emails (hotmail & gmail) in the web browser but when I go to compose a new email message there is no option to add an attachment. How can I attach files to my emails?
Is this something that is fixed only by changing ROMs?
I apologise if this was already brought up but I did search.
Thanks
I know this doesn't answer your question, but how long are you prepared to wait for "soon"?
Well I only just got the tablet so I figured I could wait until August...keeping my fingers crossed that 'soon' will be by then.

If you're referring to Vegan Ginger, then I'm afraid you've been misinformed. Nvidea has not made drivers for the Tegra 2 (harmony) for gingerbread or honeycomb, nor have they announced any plans to do so. They've stated that they would support their device if the vendors request it, but as of yet, not a peep from VS.
Alternatively, I noticed that you mentioned the web versions of your e-mail providers...why not just use the e-mail/g-mail apps? I'm using Calkulin/Clemsyn, based on the stock TnT. I have my e-mail app set up for g-mail and hotmail as well.
Also, it may be the browser your using. try a different browser, or perhaps a different view of the browser (mobile vs. desktop) and see if it shows up.

[Q] Generel use / tips

Hi all!
So I just bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.0 and its my first tab. I have a HTC Desire cellphone, so android isn't completely unknown for me.
Even though I do have a few questions, maybe you guys can help me with.
1)
I have seen many screenshots where people have different background for each screen. One homepage, one called music to the left and maybe one called games to the right (just examples). And it look really awsome, how do I get it to mine?
2) It says it can have different email clients synchronized, but I cant get my yahoo mail to cooperate with it - I have no idea why. When I try to add another mail than Gmail (which I dont use) then it wont accept it. I did wrote to Samsung but they have no explanation or what so ever.
I'm a new user and cant post any outside links. I found the guide at a site called androidspot - how to setting yahoo mail on samsung galaxy tab.
3) generel tips! I really love my tab and think it is a great machine and can, in some place, be a substitute for a laptop. And that is what it is. I do have the feeling I dont really use all its function or just half of them.
Hope you guys can help me
And btw, I'm from Europe therefore there maybe be som function I cant use, like Move Hub (Damn! This one would be awsome to have!).

Hi
I can only answer your first Q:
Get this App --> https://market.android.com/details?id=org.tamanegi.wallpaper.multipicture
Maybe you should try to get an OTA update from Samsung to solve your mail problem.
Otherwise flash a newer ROM.
BTW: Good choice for the tablet ;-)

To get that app, should I get into the app store or should I go through your link, with my tab? I actually had no idea we were able to download direct from the internet, thought we had to go through the app store?
What is an OTA update? I recently updated the tab, so I suppose I have what we call touchwiz at the moment? I have heard the word "honeycomb", is that another OS or same thing as touchwiz?
According to this site you need to upgrade to a Yahoo! Mail Plus account.
Or try this

You can use the stock email app using these settings. I will post a video on my blog showing step by step soon.

opening this link on your tab will result in a question if you would like to open this like with the browser or the market, choose market.
OTA means Over The Air. but therefore you need to have setup an account at samsung. can be done under settings - about phone (or something - last option).

About a OTA, how do I get one? And mere important, what is it?
And yeah, hopefully it wont dissapoint me ;-) So far I'm happy for it. I have bought some games and for some reason it seems to have some problem playting them. Sometimes it suddently exit the game to the homescreen, and I have no idea why.

Native email app (missing 'mark as read')

I swear to God the first time I'm installed an ICS leak, I noticed that the email app finally had the option I was looking for. When you mark some emails down the lefthandside in the checkbox, you can bring up the menu and choose mark as read, or mark ALL as read.
Now released fully, ICS does not have this, only single mails at a time by long pressing on them.
Is this something someone can modify easily? Surely I'm not alone with this missing feature? I did find another developer that had made one, but I tired (and failed) to use it. The app loads, but crashes when retrieving mails.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/16536-mod-ics-email-mark-all-read-anyone-apk-added/
Can any clever people help out here - pretty please?
Does have that option, look hard
Hint: its an icon not menu item.

Thanks for the reply, boy do I feel an idiot now. But, to be fair [trying to justify my stupidy], it *was* a menu option before.

Mark all as read on s2
Shame that this tread does not conclude with some more detail.
because you might get it while im still in the mist.
I still have not worked out how to mark all mail as read on a S2 with a 4.0.3 set up.
could anyone please be so kind to really clear this up for us?
