This is my first post here and i'll admit i'm a noob so forgive my ignorance
i am having a problem with my rooted galaxy S2 I9100 i have root and it's been working fine for a long time on lightening rom but now titanium backup says i don't have root and no longer works.
Superuser is up to the latest version but also clockwork mod recovery is saying my kernel is unknown and will no longer boot into recovery. Have i lost root somehow?
Superuser says i have root but titanium and CWM say otherwise.
Any advice on how to solve this would be great thanks

I have just used S2 Root, I pressed the "Root Device" Button

What should I do? It is stuck like that for about half an hour already...
It says that it is already rooted
But it is not...
I used Odin to put an insecure kernel
and once i try to use S2 Root I have this error.
I try to use Titanium Backup for example and it says I dont have root permissions.
Hmmm.. Did you had the phone on? I mean, like not in download mode. Just turn on like normal?
step 1. Go to a proper root guide
step 2. flash cf kernel
step 3. profit?

The insecure cf-root kernel already rooted the device, no need to use s2 root or anything else.

Yes, I had the phone turned on
And even if I don't use S2 Root It says I don't have root privileges in Titanium Backup
Do you have an app called "superuser"? If not you have to download it from Market and download Busybox from Market too.
Hope it works.

It could be possible that the binary of SU is not updated. try downloading superSU in google store to see what happens.
If that will not work, yes you can root gain your phone using CF root kernel then try flashing another kernel like siyah, speedmod etc.
HIT THANKS IF THIS HELPS YOU IN ANYWAY!!!

Hello guys
First of all, I'm sorry to bump an old thread. But I guess it would be better than making a new one
I got my SGS2 from my sister few days ago and I tried to root it. After I did everything instructed by all tutorials I've read, I still can't use CWM Manager. It said just like above posts.
What I did:
1. Root the phone (already tried with 2 different kernels, the LP7s)
2. Open the SuperUser app. The app didn't give any options when I first opened it (like some tutorials do), it only gave 'Okay' to click.
3. Open CWM Manager and you all know the rest
4. Tried to install SU Updater fixer, but the app told me that there are no problems detected.
Then, I found out that I also had a problem connecting to wifi after I root (stuck in obtaining IP address). I didn't have the problem when first I use the device from my sister.
Waiting for your kindly replies. Thank you in advance

try changing the kernel and see, u can try Siyah latest 3.3.2 and check
ps- please make a nandroid bkp of ur exsisting rom in, case u face any issues u can rewert back
Did you root using CF-root?
If not, install the stock firmware if you arent on it, and use odin to install CF-root.

i reverted back to the official sony ics recently(by a generic file) then i wasnt able to root using the doomlord's toolkit, so i flashed mesa hybrid kernel v4.2, and I rooted my phone.
I have superuser installed, but it is not granting root access to any app. Please help
I already tried to root again, and clearing data and force closing the superuser app, but it's still not working...

I tried to root it with the ray's .562 kernel, but the root fails. It says it doesnt have permission, as system/"blah blah" is read only...i also tried lww's .431 kernel, but still didn"t work.
and i even tried super user su, didn't help
sidenote:I can't do anything "root related" as i dont get any permissions, so should I flash another kernel or rom to root? is this even possible?

Did you checked UNKNOWN SOURCES & USB Debugging on your phone ? Did your pc has the driver of your phone ? If not, you can install the driver from here http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390362690511176454 . Thanks to DooMLoRD .

Say byebye to the root.
Reflash Rom, then reflash kernel.again.
Do not do rooting stuff as it is for locked bootloader.
Since your BL is unlocked.
Flash kernel has pre-rooted feature.
Good luck.

Glad to help you ..
Next time, you could just install custom kernel, download a rooting flashable zip file and install it via kernel's Recovery. I do it often, because I prefer to use Clockworkmod's Superuser and by that zip file, I avoid any kind of problems.
superuser not prompting or updating
ok so ive rooted my lg g2, and i have root access through apps, but superuser isnt at all prompting for superuser access, also when i try updating the binary it says: making sure new su works.....fail. now I know thats probably no problem, but I dont know what to do to get superuser to promp or work correctly, Im not sure this matters or not, but I would like it to work. if anyone can help i'd greatly appreciate it.

Installed superuser and shows in the app drawer. Checked with root checker and says phone is not rooted. Bought wifi tether router but doesnt allow ne because it needs root permision. Apperently im not rooted. What could be the problem. Rooted only cause i want to tether. Att carrier. Do i reflash again through odin or what can be causing this thanks, help someone please. Sorry should have posted in q&a but too late i guess

I have a Samsung galaxy s4 mini(gt-i9195) running on cm11 .
Recently I backed up my phone using clockworkmod recovery after the backup I lost my root access. Root was completely gone. I used root checker it said I had no root. Is it possible for me to get root access back and how?
Is it possible to use cwmr to re-root?
I'm new to xda forums so forgive me if this is in the wrong section

No it won't brick your phone, that's the simplest way of rooting if you have a custom recovery
