Good question. My Current radio doesn't see it, but since it presents the onboard media as a file share... is possible that if your radio supports USB memory, it may be able to read the radio as a big usb stick...
I am getting a new Mygig RHR hopefully monday.. that will support A2DP and AVRCP 1.4.. I will make a point of seeing if I can get it to also play USB audio from the s3..
Can I assume that you have seen this working on other android phones before?
The Samsung car dock connects via USB and audio out works from it, so I'd assume the functionality is there.

From what I have seen is that ics is supposed to be able to.

Anyone know if there is a deadicated cam button? Does it have HDMI out? I can't seem to have a clear answer on the net. BTW holding breath for today but who knows.
No and no, it has wireless DLNA though

Bluetooth 3.0 will be capable of streaming hd video to your tv so who needs a hdmi port?

someone who owns a tv without bluetooth 3.0. also no DLNA here. anyone know if it wil run a updated bluetooth stack this time around? maybe i can use my keynoard and WIImote without damn root and Cyanogen.
If it has 3.0 the yes its a updated Bluetooth stack
I'm sure they will sell Bluetooth to hdmi hook ups for older hdtvs

What about video out over USB like the Incredible?
I know that using a sense rom, the thunderbolt is able to pipe sound over speakers through the headphone jack, but not able to handle calls while still plugged in to, say, a tape deck converter.
I'm just wondering if using an AOSP rom like CM7, OMFGB, or liquid Thunderbread will side-step that limitation? I know my OG Droid was able up make calls over speaker, but I'm not sure if this was an ability given by the phone or the fact that OG was vanilla?

Go to settings call then scroll down to TTY and select VCO then the mic should work while plugged into the speaker

If your car is bluetooth equipped, you can pair your Android device and have hands free conversations.
@saab I'm running cm7 now, and don't see TTY options anywhere. Am I missing something?
And unfortunately, my car is a bit too old. I could get a bt transmitter or something, but if I can use the tape deck converter I already have, I'd like to save the money.

Ah I haven't tried with cm7. I'm on gingeritis and it has the option. It may be a sense only option. Maybe ask some cm7 guys if they know a workaround for TTY settings. I know it's a setting for hearing impaired but it works for me to have speakers plugged in and the phone mic active.

With my phone connected to my car stereo via bluetooth, the volume seems considerably low compared to my rezound, which was even lower than my thunderbolt. Phone and deck are both maxed out.
Tried various EQ apps, not much difference..
On stock rom, not rooted.
Anyone else have this issue?

Are you on the OTA update?
My Bluetooth headset has very low volume which has been reported by others. I was hoping this was fixed in the OTA.
Yes im on update.

You're not the only one. I've spent most of my time in the Android Central forums and same issue reported there as well. Update seems to have improved connecting but quality hasn't changed much. Personally speaking my Plantronics Voyager worked great on my Samsung Fascinate but on the DNA ... well let's just say a toaster would do a better job with audio.
What Bluetooth software is in your car? I believe the droid DNA uses 4.0 and updating your Bluetooth software in your car via usb might help ya

Can't say I've had the same problem with Korean car head units, Ford Sync units, LG HBS 700 headphones, and an older Jawbone Prime. All have worked fine, and in the case of the LG headphones, I have to operate them both at significantly lower than full volume on both.

Are any of the custom roms better with this issue?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
No.
I've tried replacing the HTC BT drivers with both stock drivers and CAF drivers and neither made any difference that I could tell.
Dsb9938 pulled an alternative user space stack from somewhere and that didn't change anything for me either.
I tried searching the forums with no luck. What I am trying to do is hook my phone up to a projector with mhl but I am not running through a receiver. I want to play audio out of the headphone jack to some computer speakers. I am rooted on stock rom. Any help would be great

Thanks I didn't test it myself since this is for a project and have not bought the nhl adaptor yet as well as the project is not mine it is the companies
I purchased an iBOLT Dock'n Play cable for my Verizon Galaxy Note 2 with 4.3 Jellybean. It worked well when I would go into the system settings and select Accessory and then output to headset. I recently switched to T-Mobile and a Galaxy S5 with Kitkat loaded. I have rooted the phone and am running Alliance ROM B2 as my DD. I cannot find the Accessory setting anymore and there are no output settings to change as in Jellybean. I really liked that feature because I could route the aux output through the microusb rather than having to plug in two cords (USB and AUX). I have searched everywhere on the web and the forums for a solution, but have not found anything that addresses the problem.
Can anyone help?

I'm not sure what you're trying to do. Do you want to output sound through the usb cable?
The accessory menu is still in Settings, under the heading "System" - that should be what you're looking for.

Yes. I would like to have audio output through usb. I saw the system accessories, but the only option is output through hdmi. Either stereo or surround. It used to have output through headset which would route it through the usb and eliminate the need for the aux cable from the headphone jack.

Sorry I can't help with this. I thought iPhones were the only ones that could even do that :silly:
Since when can android do this? I had a Note 3 and it didn't work, N5 didn't work, HTC one didn't work.
If you use the dock cable mentioned above, it works very well. The option just disappeared with the update to Kitkat.
