i've wrote this on motorola europe page (cause i have an european model)
i'd like to report a bug on Motorola Razr xt910 (en.eu)
when i leave "wireless" localization activated, battery goes down much faster... and looking at analysis programs like cpu spy, i can see that phone has the "standby" divided in 50% sleep, 50% 300mhz, so i think that localization polling isn't On-demand as it should be (for example ia have a meteo app wich updates every 3 hours...) but it's almost always activated... probably is a smart actions bug? think is the app wich needs more localization.... but also for that, think we need a way to use it in sleep mode...
for example, have detached phone 4 hours ago, 1 hour, i hade wireless loc activated, 10%battery gone down, 3 hourse deactivated, battery is at 90% and i used it more than the 1 hour standby....
someone has tried?
someone would try on different versione?
if someone has similar situation, would post on his localized (american for americans etc) motorola page, so we can suggest where to search for this bug?
My record is 48 hours with location service (wireless) off.
When I allowed it to run, battery was 50% after 8-12 hours.
It "collects anonymous position data to increase.. bla bla bla"
Turn it off and leave it off imo, it's G maps that are running and polling the gps.

Click to collapse
Its the location service which is always running in the background... to check it, open the browser and go to google, it would show the current position.
This is not a bug, but more "Apple" like implementation for location based services....
if you dont want location based services, just turn it off....

but i had on other phones, and it didn't change battery life so much...
1 or 2 hourse....
now i have 12 hours, 80%....
leaving it active, i would have it at 80% in 3 or 4 hourse...
i think it's not normal... usually localization is on demand...
you open maps, it polls location, you close/background it, stops polling... etc
on my optimus 2x for example, there was so much difference...
don't know, i think something isn't right with localization
Yes, but as you said the other phones have localization on demand...not in this...open the task manager, and you will see, 90% of the times, googlemaps in running in the background..
to avoid this, just put the google maps and other location based applications to "auto-end list"... it would stop the process after you turn off the display...
maybe this could help...
Another thing is the infamous suspend process in Android which consumes a lot of battery...you could do nothing... but even with that I can get on with an entire day with WCDMA/HSPA network and atleast 5-6 hours of music playback....
Hello,
ive a strange issue:
under wlan ive a network usage of 0.2-1kbps nearly constantly (checked with system monitor). (-> battery drain :/)
traffic monitor shows me "system traffic" as process which causes traffic..
under cell phones inet (edge&3g) its nearly constantly 0kbps.
how can this be?
ive even turned off auto sync and closed all apps..
might this be a bug of the rom/firmware?
the orange arrow of the wlan icon is active every 1-2sec nearly...
is that normal?
I'm using CM 10.1.2 since it's out and noticed 2 annoying things:
1) Data usage stats are incomplete. It shows me e.g. a data usage of 110MB over the selected range but if I sum up the detailed usage of the apps shown below I come nowhere near the 100MB. In fact it sums up to about 20MB. I found those stats a very good help to keep my data usage under control but now I cannot know which app is draining my data any more.
Does anyone have this too or knows a solution for that? .../netstats was already emptied.
2) I have quite bad (often no) reception after I flashed the ROM. I have the "net mode" "3G+2G" enabled. However if I switch to "2G" it shows maximum reception. Is this a display bug or does it incorrectly try to connect to 3G network which is to weak? It is kinda fatal as I cannot receive calls or sms!
Hi,
i have a HTC One M8, S-OFF, Sense Edition, with RD MIUI running. It worked perfectly but since a couple of days the data usage of "Android System" ist really really high. In one day it took 1,5 GB (my full data plan).
I didn't change anything, i didn't install a new application. There is no high data usage on Wifi, but if i turn on mobile data i see there is a current transferspeed of 2-4 MByte / s (you can activate this on the statusbar in miui). As my data plan is empty now, i tried it with another sim-card a couple of days later. And by now i have about 57MB used today, nearly everything by "Android System". But atm it's not constantly draining the data.
I tried to stop the usage by denying mobile network to app 1000 with droidwall and it worked. But after a couple of minutes there was a transferspeed of 2-4 MByte again. WTF.
Also you see a message of a Android Update (No MIUI OS Update!!!) after a lot of data is transferred. It doesn't load completely (even is using wifi) because it's miui and not plain android.
I can't get rid of the message because i can't disable the search for updates (i can for miui, but not for android itself). What i did is disable the notification because in the MIUI Thread they told me to.
Nevertheless there is still more data usage than normal and i don't know how to fix it. Also i'm nearly alone with whis problem because the other users of the same rom have no issues.
Please help, it's really really annoying to loose the data plan after one(!!!!) day.
Thanks!
That is part of miui. It is calling home. They have the same issue they just don't notice for what ever reason. Miui is made to upload a bunch to its servers in China.
If you are on miui there should be an app named "Security" already installed
open it
then tap on Data Usage
then on Restrict -Now you you can restrict which user apps to use data and WiFi and which system apps use data(only)
Hi,
I have a huawei P20.
I have noticed today that if I go to Settings / Wireless & Networks / Data usage / Data usage this month, I click on More, then I choose click on "System and service".
There, I have three things that used date during the month:
- General 2,46 Mo
- Android system 3,70 Mo
- Location service 107 Mo
I don't have any Location service app allowed to use data normally. Here, I see that it a system or a service consumption. How is it possible? And most important, how could I spot which one is, and eventually stop it?
Thanks a lot
