[Help] Custom rom done, install successful but cannot recognize sim card - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I made a custom rom. Everything was build properly and no error messages during installation
But when i am on the homescreen, it cannot detect the sim card and it is the little stop circle at the top right indicating there is no network.
What would you need me to put as an attachement to be able to tell what could be wrong ?
Thank you

Need Help - Was using Gingerbread Beta 2 ROM, lost IMEI...

Hi,
I have managed to lose my IMEI and empty my /efs folder. I was using the Gingerbread Beta 2 ROM provided by Whitehawkx on my Samsung Vibrant. Everything was great for me, I was loving it and was using it as daily driver. Until one day, my cell was in my pocket and I realized it was overheated. I removed it from my pocket and saw that it was frozen and had the double rainbow screen. I removed the battery to switch it off and restarted.
Since that moment, I lost all the files under my /efs folder and also lost my IMEI. As a result my phone does not recognize any SIM card. I can use all other functions like wifi, bluetooth, etc. but cannot use any phone functions like calling, sms, etc.
Please please please help me out to resolve this problem. I do not have backup of my /efs folder. I do have nandroid backups of my JFD, JI6 and KA6 ROMs. (if that helps in any way)
I have already tried going back to Stock JFD with clear efs checkbox checked using odin but no luck...
Please Help & Very Thanks in advance...
P.S. Let me know if you need any more details...
This is tricky, but it can be done, I am not sure how much your phone is jacked up. But here is a link explaining how to do this, read carefully a few times before you proceed:

Thanks oka1,
But before your reply I did something because of which I am screwed even more
While trying out everything, I flashed my Vibrant with the International Samsung Galaxy S ROM - 'I9000DDJF2'. I also used the CSC file that came with it.
This did not solve my IMEI problem but then now I can't go into Download mode or recovery mode as we do not have the home key that International Galaxy S has.
Please help me get in Download mode or Recovery mode so that I can get back to Vibrant ROM.
we do have a home button. use that to go to DL mode.
how come did that messed up your eds? was it told that you need to backup your efs folder?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Got lucky, managed to get into Download mode. Found this post 'http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728698', the key was - "If you still can't enter download mode, you may want to try holding down the volume key + the power button. Plugging in your USB cable may also aid your efforts to enter download mode."
But this does not solve my lost IMEI and /efs problem. I did not know about backing up the /efs folder :-(
I am trying my hardest to try and restore my IMEI...
just get a replacement. that's the easiest way I think.
is your phone unlocked?

Hey Im looking now through some old threads, might have a fix.
I did that too, but luckily, after that, i bricked.
Backing up /efs will avoid any problems like this?
Potential Fix
I attached a screenshot of the files that should be in your efs folder. When I unlocked my phone, it required deleting all of the nv files besides the log, which leaves -
The .android folder is empty
The .imei file contains your imei number (found under your battery - put it in without slashes)
The imei folder which contains bt.text with your bluetooth mac address and a code file with the word XEN
I would recommend ODIN back to stock, root, set up this file structure (leaving out the nv files), then download the sgs unlock tool, and run it. People have reported success using the unlock tool to rebuild nv_data.
If this fails try reading through this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=879189&page=3
Thanks guys for helping out...
@iynfynity - My phone is unlocked. I can't get replacement since I am not in US. I bought it from ebay.com.
@pvspencer22 - I will try the way that you have mentioned. I thought since I am not in US, I can request someone from US to share their /efs folder contents. A nice guy from xda was ready to do that but then he was not comfortable :-(
Ya I wasn't to comfortable with it. It just doesn't seem safe for me to give someone else my IMEI. And plus I dont think it would work on your phone anyways, because the efs file wouldn't match your phone

I tried these ways, no luck :-( Seems that the only possible way to resolve this is if someone agrees to share the contents of /efs folder of a working spare vibrant phone. But then no one is ready to do this...
Wonder if it could be possible for YOU to give your information from your phone & battery to someone on here that could make edits to their files with your info and send it to you??

My original IMEI was 351801041232857.
My phone model is TMo Samsung Vibrant, I bought it from ebay.com.
Not sure what other details would be required as the only thing different is the IMEI, rest would be just as any other Vibrant phone.
Currently I am on stock JFD (downloaded from xda) and my /efs folder is completely empty.
Guys, please let me know if any other information is needed. I would be more than obliged to provide it. I am just trying out all possible ways to resolve the problem and I deeply appreciated each and every message coming my way... This is what makes xda so special...
As I have said, my handicap is that I am not in US, else I could have easily asked T-Mobile to solve this problem for me...

reply if you still need help. I got a solution as long as you have the backup efs folder.

ICS lockscreen, welcome screen and shutdown menu problems...

Hi,
i updated mi SGS 2 to LPQ and i have those three problems.
the first thing i see is i dont get the welcome screen, i dont care this screen, but i get it as a symptom of my problem.
the second thing and the most bothering is that i cant get the lockscreen.
and the last thing is that when i press the lock button instead of showing the shutdown menu it shutdown.
i know this problems where present in the betas, but i flashed today a phone of a friend y he doesnt have any of these problems.
does anybody knows someway to fix this?
thanks!
Is this serious? If it is, just put in your information as it asks you to and it'll go away...
Edit: It seems I misread your post, but jk0l is right, it's probably your efs. Look for a the thread about how to recover your IMEI
Your efs is missing something.
There was a solution posted somewhere.
Sorry, cant recall which thread was it.
Try search the whole forum.
thanks jk0l i will search that.
i remember that i have read something about permissions, but i could find it...
*sigh*....
This is the THIRD separate thread (not counting the solution thread, and actually one other) I have seen on this issue.
Go here.

Thanks in advance for the solution.

Ok. Open up root explorer, long press the keystr file and open with text viewer. Does it have 'ON' written there?
Sent from my GT-I9100T
yes it does.
i also deleted the current file, reboot, created a new keystr file, and didnt worked.
i dont know if it is related, but my phone was one of the phones with USB problems
and also de imei problem, from time to time i lost the imei and i must to restore the efs folder.
So if you restore your efs folder do.you still have the problem?
Does restoring your efs show you your correct imei?
I also had this problem for over a month and couldn't fix it. When I copied the keystr & mps code files into the efs folder it fixed the problem. Make sure your keystr file name is all lowercase.

Alright. Try this!
I have attached the 2 files from the imei folder. Copy paste to your folder.
But you need to rename them to:
- keystr.txt to keystr, take out the .txt from the end
- mps_code.txt to mps_code.dat, replace .txt with .dat
If your phone needs to overwrite the old ones let it.
If you are on PC, just right-click the files and 'save as' to you PC, then move to your phone then use root explorer to move to the efs folder.

Hi,
I am having the same issue and have copied the 2 files into my efs folder.
Still the problem persist. Also, with the issue that the lock screen doesn't appear, if there is a sim lock pin required, i will not be prompted as well.
and yes, i still have my IMEI intact.
Please advice.

They are actually supposed to go in the /efs/imei folder. Did you put them there, or just to /efs?

[Q] How to change the tips "Preparing SD card" ?

Hi. This is my first post . I'm looking for your help to this thing.
Recently,I flash a CM7 rom to my defy(mb525) , everything is OK .
However, the tip that shows when I just start the phone Preparing the SD card
was changed to 123456789abcd...z
How can I fixed it ? Which file I should open and edit ?
Or I have to just change a rom?
Thanks for all your help ....
p.s the phone had already been rooted
.. thanks again
perhaps you SDcard have a problem ,you can try to change a card or fix it with your compter.
I'm a Chinese ROM developer ,and my expression is not very clear,I just help you like this.

Actually,l'm a chinese,too…
介意加QQ374899067说下吗…谢谢了…应该不是卡的问题
If the sd card works fine then its only a error in the notification message. If that is the case than ask the developer of the rom ypu are using to fix it or at least to tell you what to edit.

wifi connectivity issuse

I am having problems with my Samsung galaxy S2 (gt-i9100) when i try to connect to my WiFi. i enable WiFi on my phone and then try o connect to the net work. my phone picks up the network and i then enter the password. Before i upgraded my phone to supernexus build 5 it connected to the wifi with ease ,at this point it was running the out of the box gingerbread rom. my phone then says connecting, authenticating, obtaining network IP. then my phone just says saved and is not connected to my router. my WiFi is working as my Ipad connects and can use the WiFi. please can you help.
Kelvin
I think you have the same problem of mine but with different software.
my problem solution is:
flash a rom based on LSJ & backup the file under etc/wifi (system files)
then flash LS8 & replace the same files with your backup
looks like LS8 has buggy files
you might have the same case. try to find another WORKING variant of your software & take the wifi files from it
You have to delete system files first before you put your backup files. don't overwrite.
I just restart my router and it connects with ease

sorry for being so late.
no there isn't. this isn't a flashable file.
you just have to open the zip of any LSJ rom & go to etc/wifi. copy all the files in it then paste them in the same place of the LS8 rom you want to use. you have to delete the original files in LS8 before you paste
then flash & I hope it will work for you.

System Files deleted without Backup, Plz Help !

Hi, Everyone
This is my first Thread
I need some help, if u happen to have S5 SM-G900T Device with Root access then you can help me out, will just take 5 minutes
I need following 3 files from system folder
CSC - Whole CSC FOLDER
CscVersion.txt
SW_Configuration.xml
plz copy and upload these 2 files and 1 folder which is around 2.3 mb only in size
that'd be really helpful for me to recover my device
How i landed into this situation :
I always take backups before doing any modifications but out of excitement, this time i forgot taking backup
I was trying to get Volte functionality on S5 TMO (in India), following the instructions given in this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...volte-support-hong-kong-official-rom-t3529239
But ended up making my phone useless for calling, i used to use jio4gVoice app for calling (Not regular dialer), but since i have changed a few CSC files from system folder now this app thinks my phone is volte supported which it is not, says "Calling is disabled here as it is available through the phone dialer" and hence i can't call anyway.
plz help, eagerly looking forward for the helping hand
it'll take just a few minutes to copy n upload those these 2 files and 1 folder, if you have root access to S5 SM-G900T
Thank You !
