For some reason, my HTC Thunderbolt has stopped automatically syncing my google calendar. I can manually sync it by going to calender -> menu -> refresh and it will sync. I can also sync it manually from settings -> accounts and sync, but nothing I have tried restores the automatic syncing.
Gmail (both contacts and mail) is automatically syncing -- its only the calendar that isn't (and the calendar IS the same google account as gmail).
I have noticed that on the accounts and sync screen for my google account that it shows the current date for sync contacts and sync gmail, but July 10 for Sync Calendar (see attached image). I've tried unchecking and rechecking that and sync now. It will always sync (and it does pick up new appointments), but it never changes that last sync time and it never goes back to automatically syncing.
I searched google for this issue but nothing I found directly addresses it -- all seem to be difficulty syncing at all (even manually).
I am running stock rooted MR2. See attached image for exact versions.
I am using ADW desktop so I have disabled HTC Sense.
How can I get the automatic sync working again?
I have a Tab 10.1 WiFi running Task 14 with Pershoot's Kernal (not overclocking).
I find that Gmail won't sync in the background. I have to manually load the Gmail app for it to sync and show me new/changed messages. I have Wifi sleep policy set to never and background sync enabled in the settings.
How do I get Gmail to automatically sync?
Thanks
I've had that happen before. Just clear data for gmail app and it should be good to go then.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried this and at first thought it worked but it hasn't. Gmail has gone back to not autoupdating until I manually launch the app...
Have you checked your sync settings?
Go to settings > accounts & sync > your gmail account > check sync gmail is checked.
It's normally pretty good at indicating on one of the latter screens whether there are sync issues or not.
You need to do it manually in sync as he said ^
Might want to change to alert per email.
I have my i9100 with Resurrection Remix ICS v2.4[4.0.4] installed and tried to set up my work's Exchange account on it.
I specifically configured it so that it synchronizes the Exchange calendar too, but when I go to the phone's calendar, it only shows the ones from my Gmail account, not the Exchange one.
From the calendar application, if I go to Menu - Calendars to display - Calendars to sync, it does NOT show my Exchange account with its calendar.
If I go to Menu - Settings it shows my both accounts (Gmail and Exchange) but when I go to the Exchange one, it shows the message "No calendars" as if the account doesn't have a calendar to show. I'm positive that the Exchange server didn't change because until Friday I had an official ICS 4.0.3 rom and I was able to sync and add events to my Exchange calendar.
Any help on how to fix this or some workaround? I really need my Exchange calendar to be fully functional.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Lots of views and no answers? Please help me solve this or at least mention if it won't ever work...
Thanks
I'm experiencing the same issue. Have you managed to find a fix for this yet?
Why not post this in the rr thread? They're going to be able to help more than here

try 3rd part app
u may try
Smooth Calendar from playstore
I tried to ask in rr's thread but nobody replied to my questions...
Regarding 3rd parties, I'd like to try a stock solution if possible, but I'll give it a try anyway.
Thanks!

no mate
stocks apps wont work in aokp
I tried with that app and it's just a widget, but it doesn't fix anything. Maybe another third party that completely replaces the built-in calendar? I can't believe that the rom calendar can't sync with exchange just like that. Any reason to justify it? Is this for all AOKP roms?
Thanks.

Same thing. That calendar doesn't make use of its own provider for Exchange. It keeps relaying on rom builtin system. Is there a way to install the provider/connector for Exchange? I noticed that even when it looks similar to stock, the calendar app used in this rom is a mod or something belonging to the hydrogenics author (paradoxxx). Maybe there's a workaround for this?
I think I found the solution to this, cryptically posted on another forum.
But essentially, in Accounts and Sync, where you're only seeing your Google Accounts and not the exchange one, turn sync off and then re-add the exchange account to the list. It won't work if you have sync turned on, it will just tell you that exchange account has already been synced.
Once you've re-added the account you'll be free to turn sync back on and it should work the way it did before you upgraded to ICS.

I've just updated to 4.0.4 original from Samsung, but I didn't like it, so I'll be rolling back to RR ICS and will give it a try... I'll love you if I get this to work this way! lol!
Thanks for your reply. I'll get back to confirm whether or not it worked...

I've had this problem for the past month, and I finally figured it out....no thanks to HTC, AT&T or my Exchange Active Sync provider. They all told me it was their problem, but another provider's issue. I was about to throw them all under the bus.
My problem was that the Exchange ActiveSync calendar stopped syncing, although the email and contacts worked fine. Appointments from my phone would sync to Outlook, but any appointment I put in Outlook would not sync to my phone.
This is my solution:
On my HTC Vivid, android version ICE, 4.0.3, AT&T cellular provider.
I went to: Home, Menu, Settings, Apps, All Apps, Calendar Storage.
Clear Data in Calendar Storage. This should erase the Exchange Calendar from your phone. I did not even have the Exchange Calendar as an option to view when I opened my Calendar.
Now, Remove the Exchange Account, and re-install it. No need to turn the phone off in between. My calendar worked perfectly after that.
If you really want to be thorough, clear the data on the Calendar and Calendar Widget, also.
I could not clear the cache in Calendar Storage, Calendar or Calendar Widget - it was not an available option for me.
I hope this helps!!!

Just uncheck sync of Google account (calendar), delete data in app setting/calendar storage (Home, Menu, Settings, Apps, All Apps, Calendar Storage.
Clear Data in Calendar Storage) and than delete Exchange account and setup it again.

Thanks a lot !!!
Having hard time searching for answers to this due to the fact just about every thread has these keywords....
Here is my situation:
- Dinc2 running latest stock, rooted.
- have had for long time no issues. Received new phone due to warranty issues.
- setup google account and all is well, it is running just fine.
- within Settings>Accounts and Sync I see various accounts (Facebook, weather, etc) and 2 Google accounts (square icon with lower case g, not the gmail icon/account). 1 is for my gmail.com account and 1 is for my corp email (which uses gmail). So all is well.
- I took picture on phone and tried to send it from the gallery via the share icon and selected the gmail option in the list (note sharing via messaging (txt) has worked without issues forever). This brought me to setup of gmail account (I recently turned on 2-step security within google/gmail) and it asked for the application specific password. I got that setup and finished it just thinking it was using the gallery app to send the email so that is why it asked again.
- Once I did that I received email from VZW stating my email account (gmail one) is now setup with VZW, etc, etc. Now I typcially don't use the VZW backup assistant and don't go through any setup of email for VZW (maybe it happened in the background don't know but I have never done that didn't see that notification from VZW before). I know what this is from VZW just not sure why it happened when it did.
- Now when I go into Accounts and Sync I see my 2 original Google accounts, but also see a new Gmail (gmail icon with red M) for my gmail account. So I essentially have 2 'gmail' accounts setup on my phone within the accounts and sync area.
- I only see 1 gmail account when looking at my mail, but have noticed some emails not making and getting notifications saying the gmail account is not setup properly. I click that notification and then click finish setup and it says all is well.
- I tried deleting the gmail account (with red M icon) but it says I can't as it is used by other services on phone.
- I have gone to the VZW site and removed my gmail account from their 'server' and turned off backup assistant on the website as well (was never turned on, on the phone). I don't believe this should be an issue as I shouldn't have to use the VZW 'web email' setup they provide to customers to consolidate emails and provide web access since gmail already does that for me.
Anyone know what may be best way to resolve this? Do I have to have VZW 'web mail' setup? Should I plan to restore phone and again just setup the initial google accounts and just plan not to try and email from gallery and just use the 'attach' feature within the gmail app instead if needed?
I have tested emails from my phone and it seems they work for the most part, but it seems everyone once in a while they fail with that notice the gmail app is not setup properly (and suspect this is VZW screwing things up).
Long post, sorry, just frustrating and confusing and figured I would post it in case others have seen this.
Thanks.
So I have had the DNA for over a year, I have my exchange account synced on it, and told it NOT to sync tasks (what i use tasks for i'd rather them not clog up my phone to do list).
Since the kitkat update rolled out, now its syncing tasks and I can't find a way to turn it off... am I missing something? Or did they just remove that option?
Aaaand I've figured it out. Looks like they moved this option from account settings, to an option inside the calendar settings, Accounts (multi-calendar), then hit the three dots beside the exchange account and uncheck tasks.
Hopefully this post helps anyone else who has this issue.
