[Q] modem speed after resurrection - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This was the speifications of my i9100T SGS2 when I upgraded it to ICS.
pda ; i9100TDULP9
Phone: i9100TDULP4
CSC :0100TVAULP7
build info = Thu Apr 19 20:45:05 KST 2012
android ver: 4.0.3
baseband : i9100TDULP4
Kernel ver: 3.0.15-i9100TDULP9-CL422302 [email protected]#3
build no IML74K.DULP9
I flashed the phone with Resurrection customised ROM ( and has becomea i9100, the T gone -i9100XXLPS) and find the speed of the modem greatly reduced. (0.1 mbps) Can somebody suggest what is the problem. Is it possible to flash another modem only.

it looks like you got a i9100T device with a i9100 modem
you need to find an i9100T modem
here's a thread that can help you
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1349087
good luck

I'm going to take a wild stab & say you're using an I9100T on Voda AU. If that's the case, DUKJ1 is still the gold standard so far as modems are concerned (works well for almost everyone on Voda AU). Do a Google search with XDA appended to your search terms & you should be able to find a link or two where you can download a CWM flashable version of this modem.

Now I got hold of a DULP4 modem meant for i9100T. but it has a modem.tar file. How do one flash a .tar file containing a .bin file?
And is it possible to use DUKF4 instead? Sorry, still a newbie.

Extract the bin & flash it in the phone section of Odin. You can flash any modem for the I9100 or I9100T. Some will work better than others. If you find a given modem doesn't work, flash another. Keep flashing modems until you find one that does work well for you.

Questions about my SGSII I9100JPKG3 firmware?

Dear all,
I am new to this valuable forum & resource. I have been searching within the forum for the past few days & I am looking for help please. I have the following SGSII:
PDA: I9100JPKG3
Phone: I9100XXKG1
CSC: Unknown
Product code: GT-I9100LKADAM
Kernel version:
2.6.35.7-I9100JPKG3-CL388633
[email protected] #2
Build Info: Sun Jul 17, 2011 13:52:14 KST 2011
I have the following simple questions:
1. I have extensively searched the forum, & I couldn't find any information about this firmware JPKG3! I only found JPKG2 & JPKG5. Is my mobile's firmware official although I bought it from an official reseller in my country?
2. The CSC is unknown & I found a post by Intratech providing the CSC file: "csc_xsg_i9100ojpkg1" for Arabic language. Is is possible to use Odin to flash my SGSII with this CSC file only? And if I flash it, will I solve the "Unknown" issue? Do I need to backup my data? Will the data be wiped out?
3. I also could not find the product code GT-I9100LKADAM throughout the whole website! Any help on that?
4. The Kernel version mentioned above is a bit weird. Is the firmware rooted? I personally didn't do so knowing that i bought the mobile brand new.
5. If I updated to the newer version JPKG5 using Odin, will I solve the Unknown CSC & Kernel issues? Also, will my data be wiped out?
6. Kies does not recognize my mobile! Any help? Is it because of this firmware?
I would really appreciate your valuable help on the above questions. Thanks in advance.
Just flash the JPKG5 from the firmware thread, it's the latest firmware for your device and the DAM CSC is included as the package is a multi-CSC one.

Thanks Intratech for your quick reply. Honestly, I wanted to thank you for your post on the official firmwares but I couldn't do it there since I'm still new... I enjoyed & benefited a lot in every post your wrote It's a master piece...
What about the Kernel issue? Is my current one rooted? If yes, will it be solved when I flash to JPKG5?
Also, what about the product code? I couldn't find anything related to it anywhere! Is it because it's still new in my country?
Finally, after I flash to JPKG5, will Kies recognize my phone?
Thank you Intratech for your valuable help...
No, it's not rooted despite the label however flashing the kernel will update it to the newer kernel. DAM product code is covered by the firmware, if you look in the bracket you will see a list of the CSC covered and DAM is included.

Dear Intratech,
I followed your procedures at the original post & flashed JPKG5 with Odin. Everything went fine & smooth. However, when I tried to change the CSC I got the following list: (XSS, XSG, WAN, TUN, THR, PAK, OTU, MWD, MMC, MID, MED, MAT, LEV, KSA, EGY, BTC, AFG, ABS). It's different than the list mentioned in your post & there is no DAM in it. So what can I do now? Is there a firmware that contains DAM? By the way, I do not know for which country/region DAM stands for? Can you help please? So I currently used the LEV CSC which is the closest to my country!
My updated device data are the following:
Product Code: GT-I9100LKALEV
PDA: I9100JPKG5
Phone: I9100XXKG1
CSC: I9100OJPKG1
Build Info: Thu Jul 28 19:58:32 KST 2011
Kernel version:
2.6.35.7-I9100JPKG5-CL428948
[email protected] #2
Additionally, when I use Kies, I get: "This version of the device cannot be updated." However, it recognizes it as PDA:KG5 / PDA:KG1 / CSC:KG1 (LEV). Does this mean I can no longer update the firmware through Kies?
Can you please help on the above issues? It's much appreciated. Thanks.

I will investigate this for you. Once there is a newer firmware for your device then KIES will allow you to update.

Why Kernel has nothing to do with baseband/modem .
You have a Villain rom and your dog lives in Ninphet2.2.1 .
Your modem is KG6 .
Unless you are having reception problems leave it alone .
Or if you need go to dev forum modems posts and flash whatever modem you want .

Ill say leave it, in case it does cause incompatibility issues with the ROM. Generally speaking regardless of the baseband, since do keep in mind, these phones are supposedly globally GSM compatible (except for select few CDMAers). I am using different baseband to Vodafone NZ but no reception issues. I am not 100% if VillianROM still use CSC codes, but essentially on the stock ROMs, CSC provides carrier specific settings. Check your CSC with *#12580*369#.
Mine shows up as
PDA: I9100XXKH3
Phone: I9100XXKH3
CSC: I9100VNZKG1 (the latest from Vodafone NZ) although its not KH3 but KG1.

[Q] Major Reception Problem

Hi guys, i'm thinking i may have to send my G2 back to O2
I love the G2 but as an actual phone mine as become next to useless! 99% of my calls drop out mid call or freeze with the other persons voice freezing mid-sentence and stuttering like a stuck record. At this point the screen usually freezes so i can't do anything with the phone for up to a min (approx) .
I find even if i have full signal, as soon as i go to make a call the signal will drop out completley, showing the circle with a bar through it? I thought it may just be crappy O2 reception but my wife is on O2 and her phone is fine.
Has anyone experienced these problems or similar and can provide a bit of feedbak? Otherwise it's gonna have to go which is a shame cos it's brilliant for everything else
I've now restored my original O2 branded firmware as the phone may have to go back to O2, i've also used a USB jig to reset download counter.
When i type *#1234# it shows:
PDA: I9100XWKE2
PHONE: I9100XXKDJ
CSC: I9100O2UKE1
Build info: Fri May 6 07:48:55 KST 2011
THis is what i was expecting however when i check in Settings > About Phone the Kernel version is: [email protected] #2
How come when i re-flashed the O2 branded firmware did the kernel not get replaced with a non-root kernel?
Any suggestions on how to get rid of the Root kernel would be most welcome
I'm in the process of downloading a full wipe rom so i'll maybe flash this and then re-flash the O2 firmware to see if that removes it?
[email protected] #2
root doesn't mean the phone is rooted.
DELL101 doesn't mean samsung got dell to make the phone either.
That is the original kernel.
HI
Are you sure its root? I dont remember what the stock kernel was for me but have you tried running a root app with success. set cpu is a good one to try you can find it free here on xda.
About your reception issue,
Its the modem/radio that sorts out your reception have you tried different ones? Im on o2 in the midlands i find KG6 modem to be the best for me.
What custom rom where you on? and do you get the same problems with the stock rom?
Actually flashing different modems would be a really good idea.
mynamesteve, pointed KG6, I would also recommend the KH3 modem as well.
Try it before you take it back.
As for rooted kernel, I recommend using speedmod, by hardcore.

Thanks brother
mynamesteve, LiFE1688
I tried running Titanium backup and it failed so as you correctly suspected it clearly isn't a root kernel.
Also i flashed original O2 firmware
PDA: I9100XWKDD
PHONE: I9100XXKDH
CSC: I9100O2UKD1
and the Kernel version was shown as [email protected] #2.. so there we go

Where is the best place to find individual modems? All the firmwares that i have flashed have been a single tar file or zip file containing the 3 components....
Thanks again guys ;p
Sigh, it is even a sticky thread.
Galaxy S 2 Shipped Modem Collection
You can also use rom manager to download it.
Thanks again, i've flashed KG6 firmware so will see how the reception is with it, if there's no change will try KH3 modem...
Nice one

[Q] Bell Galaxy S2 i9100M Flashing with the Right CSC

I just got a new phone and unfortunately for bell, they only have it as 2.3.3. I can no longer stand the poor battery life so i am thinking about flashing a new rom and kernel.
I am trying to decide between the STOCK ROM AND KERNEL on the following page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
one that i am considering is
DXKL3
Firmware info
PDAXKL3
PHONE: DXKL1
Date: 15/12/2011
Android 2.3.6
MultiCSC Package (GLB, MM1, SIN, SMA, STH, THL, XEV, XME, XSE, XSP, XTC, XTE, XXV): http://www.multiupload.com/AK0TGH6WXX
DXKL3 Stock Kernel: http://www.multiupload.com/PY2EJTIQ2E
Password: [email protected]
unfortunately, non of them has the right CSC for Canada, which should be BMC.
would it make a difference, for instance, if i install a stock rom with a different CSC?
If not, can anyone provide solutions after flashing on how to change the CSC back to BMC?
I have the CSC_I9100MBMCKG2.tar file for Odin. would this work?
Need to clearify the previous post
Just to clearify what is said above. my question is
Would installing a ROM and Kernel with an CSC different from i am living right now have any side effect on my phone? like weak signal or usage issue?
I have a rooted gs2 from bell and never had any issues. All depends on the rom and kernel. I like the criskelo rom with the neak kernel for stability but right now I'm running a ics rom and so far so good.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
So the one you are using has a different CSC code then your cell provider's location?
the other download sites?
multiupload.com can not be accessed. is there any other download sites? or can you upload in other sites?
thank you

How to find the kernel version of my I9100G?

Reading a lot of posts about the I9100 it looks like people are able to find the kernel version this way:
inspiredgeek.com/2011/12/08/how-to-find-download-correct-stock-kernel-firmware-for-samsung-galaxy-sii-s2
The problem is that with my I9100G, the "Settings -> About phone -> Kernel Version" thing just shows:
2.6.35.7
[email protected] #2

There is nothing after "2.6.35.7" which can let me know what the matching kernel is (such as 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKG1-CL349526 as in the exemple in the above site).
Should it be the same as PDA version then?
PDA: I9100GXXKL5
Phone: I9100GXXKL4
CSC: I9100GXEFKL3

Choice is to flash an different kernel or stay where you are .
If you want to go back to stock then you need a saved stock rom .
Why do you want a kernel ??
jje
I just want to root it. The only option seem to be to use an older or insecure kernel.
The problem is that I can't save the ROM without having it rooted from what I've seen.
Thanks to CheckFus, I was actually able to download my ROM and extract the kernel.

I have a similar requirement
Hey _AnAkIn_
I have the same issue that you seem to have fixed. Could you help me with it?
I have rooted my device and would like to switch back to the stock kernel (same as the one you have listed a solution for) but have not found one online.
It would be helpful if you could give a a step by step guide on how you extracted the original kernel and flashed it back on your phone (If you can share the file it would be even better). Also did your device remain rooted?
Thanks in advance.
can you tell me what my kernel version is?
