Hi all,
I don't care for battery life what so ever, I have a charger at work and one at home.
If im out and about then im out and not on my phone.
I want outright performance and stability from my Int S3, which rom & kernel package would you all recommend?
Edit: I'm not saying the phone is slow, just theres a beacon of roms and kernels out there and I'd like to take advantage of the fastest/most stable.
My main concern is live wallpaper/clock/UI redraw. My dalvik is set to 192 and I'm using Nova launcher but when I exit an intense game like Sonic my live waller paper or clock disappears.
The 2 big boys atm I believe are Cyanogen with the nightly builds of CM9 and Omega with their 7th Release.
Personally I've been a cyanogen fan since my android days started and will continue to be so.
Thanks mate, I am also a fan of CM, I run their rom on my HTC DZ. But I'm going to wait for them to perfect the rom.
I have to say I'm impressed with Omega 7, I wasn't a fan of 6 but 7 seems super smooth.
My scores on Antutu & Quadrant have increased.
Antutu 1xx increase.
Quadrant a nice 2xx increase.
For performance use cyanogen mod with a supported custom kernel like siyah kernel.

I have been trying out several different ICS ROMs on my phone for the last few months. Never had a GB custom ROM. I was on stock UCKK6 which came with my phone and then went on to the ICS roms.
I have tried almost all of the SGH-i777 custom ROMS - and MIUI as well.
Out of curiosity I decided to go back to Gingerbread so flashed UnOriginal ROM.
First thing I noticed - Damn this is smooth. Everything - browser, launcher, touch response - everything is smooth like a baby's butt.
So whats going on with ICS? why dont we have the same smooth experience on any of the ICS roms. Is it because the official source code has not been released yet? or is it resource heavy compared to GB?
Do not want to start a ROM comparison but just curious. Having moved back to GB I am not sure I am missing anything critical from ICS. Others might not share this opinion but this is what it is for me and the things I use my phone for.
I am still bitten by the flash bug - so will continue to try out the ICS ROMs.
What do all of you think about moving back to GB and the pros/cons? What ICS feature will you miss the most? Please share your thoughts!
<puts flame suit on>
I'm about ready to go that route myself... Becoming frustrated when I find a "perfect" ROM, only to have the wlan_rx wakelock come back and drain my battery into nothingness. My favorite GB is Shishir's - Fairly stock, but with some nice tweakability, and have never run into the same battery probs.

It is a personal choice.
In here, in this world, whole universe, no one forces you to do what you don't want to.
Once in a while, I still heard some people saying "Windows 3.1 is so much better than Windows 7".
It is purely your choice so no need to put the flame on.
It's good that seeing you in fact trying out a few different ROMs and finally made the decision on your own.
That's a good sign for all of us.
I've had the same experience as well. I'm not so sure if it's issues with the roms but more with the Kernels. There is a lot involved to tune the kernels just right. I'm no developer but I believe ICS may just be a little more complex this GB.... or at lease ICS is not so forgiving.... I'm not developer so who knows.
On a side note, I just tried the PARANOIDANDROID v1.1 port so far this has been on the same level as smoothness as any GB rom I've ran. Link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660974
I even found a port for my SGS Captivate and wow.... its 10x better then the GB rom. So this rom has something going on that I'm going to keep testing out. You may want to give it a try as well.
Im still on unnamed and ics has a few system changes like scrolling and touch screen responsiveness that make it how it is

ive been running paranoidandroid since pre 1.0. its been my daily driver for sure. its ridiculously smooth and stable.
In case you haven't tried this combo already, I've found tasks aokp combined with the fluxi kernel to be the smoothest thing I've ever run. And yes, I've run many gb roms. Bought this phone the day it was released. Unnamed is an awesome rom, but I'm in love with this combo

Agreed. I've been running AOKP/Fluxi combo since I decided to jump into the world of ICS ROMs, and it's the best one I've used so far. I will definitely agree about the smoothness of UnNamed, though. I've got a backup saved just in case

I have tried AOKP with Siyah and Neak but not with Fluxi. I will give it a shot.
Of all the ICS ROMs I have tried - I thought Shishir ICS and Serendipity 9 were the smoothest - however that might be partly due to the SGS3 launcher.

GB > ICS.

Binnacle is also damn smooth. That was my personal favorite GB rom.
Every time I flash an ICS rom, I immediately go running back to GB. Maybe it's just me being impatient and not letting things "settle in", but most ICS roms I've tried aren't as quick and smooth, and that just gives me an anxiety attack

I had not even heard of this one. But saw LilChris's index post and found it. I will definitely try this one. A ROM that PirateGhost and Red5 worked on - has to be great
It shows Beta7 as the latest version. Is this stable enough to be a daily driver?
Binnacle is hands down the best gb rom for this phone. It is wicked fast and epic battery life. Its more than enough for a dd

The only thing that doesn't work on Binnacle is the strippers. Pirate took them out of the last beta build, said they were too "lulzactive" for him.

MikeyMikes Serendipity 9 is the smoothest thing I've run. Especially with the stock Sammy launcher available during Aroma install.

+1. The new Touchwiz UX is really smooth. Trebuchet does not feel as smooth on the same ROM

I did try Binnacle Beta 7 yesterday. I did not realize it had android 2.3.6. I somehow like the bounce effect in 2.3.4 that the UnOriginal ROM offers. Hate the glow effect in 2.3.6. Also, personally I felt UnOriginal was smoother than Binnacle (no offense) - just my opinion.
I did not leave it on long enough to comment about battery life. I flashed a different ROM. Seems like I am turning into a Flashaholic (need to restrain)
My progression:
Unnamed, then MIUI then CM7 then CM9. Doubt I'll ever leave CM9.

Hello,
I've got the Galaxy tab 10.1 Model GT-P7500
Now i've tryed very much diffirent roms, but for now i need and want to get maximum performance out of my tablet CLEAN and with GAPSS and OVERCLOCKED.
I got it rooted allready i only need the best rom for ultimate performance. I like to have it good for web browsing for example, maybe flash games...
Anyway what custom rom is the best choice for me ?
PLZ help, then i can finaly sleep better hahhaha :good:
Try cm9
Well i haven't tried many roms , but i can assure you that cm9 is really smooth on my non-overclocked Wi-Fi model. If you're willing to sacrifice the lack of camera and a few occasional bugs for performance then you have the answer. It has the pershoot kernel so you can overclock easily.
P.S. I would advise you to hear opinions about other roms too or try them your self.
OP... Not sure if 4g matters to you but as far as I know no customer rom supports 4g on your Tab. Just something to chew on be for you start flashing roms.

Hello. Can I get some suggestions for the fastest ROM and kernel combination for the fascinate? I have looked all over Google but honestly couldn't find anything relatively new. I want something that can handle a decent overclock, is stable, and is very fast so I can play games with no lag. Any suggestions? I honestly would rather GB over ICS but if getting ICS is what it takes to get maximum speed, then I will go for it. But I would appreciate GB Rom and kernel combinations and ICS ROM and kernel combinations along with some pros and cons of each. That would be great. Thank you!

CM7 and 9 are pretty fast. I'd stay away from JB for now, as it is surprisingly slow. MIUI has good looks and speed but gets literally HALF the battery life CM9 does. The only kernel in town for CM7 is Glitch, witch is a good one. For ICS you have a choice between Devil Kernel and IcyGlitch. Devil has more features and is my preferred kernel, especially since IcyGlitch as the buggy TWRP recovery.
I like aokp m6 with the devil kernel. very fast and stable

Honestly, Helly Bean ROM version 20120807 isn't slow at all. It supports a 1.4GHz overclock and runs 4.1.1. Unlike other ROMs, HB uses /datadata partition to make things quick and smooth. However, no kernel uses /datadata, so the stock kernel has to be used. But i love it.

Thank you. I think I will try the AOKP ROM. I'm using CM7 as of now with the Glitch kernel but the battery life isn't that great and it's as slow as turtle.

Hi guys, I just want your opinion on our CM9 build. I checked and the average quadrant score on CM9 is generally lower than CM7 by about 300 points while overclocked to the same clock speed. I know quadrant isn't much but I feel it as well and ICS just feels less smooth than the gingerbread roms although it's supposed t be lighter. Can someone please explain? Is it a problem with ICS or CM9? If our AOSP rom develops do you think it will be smoother?

The performance is great imo. But it's too buggy for the avarage power user and it literally fried my battery xD
If you want looks, use CM9.
If you want performance, use Cm7.

Hi, I want to know which JB do you recomend as the fastest, I´ve tried the epinter, jokersax, aokp, and miui. But still the Mrom scores higher with the antutu benchmark.
Currently I´m using Mrom and so far the battery life and the speed of the Atrix is awesome. Without having to overclock I get 5,340 of score, Is there a JB rom that can score to at least 5,000 with the antutu without having to overclock?
Why do benchmarks mean so much to you?
You already tried all the JB roms pretty much anyways, you most likely answered your own question.

Benchmarks mean nothing. Whether your phone lags doing day to day operations is the only thing that matters
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Synthetic benchmarks are completely useless and meaningless in that they do not represent normal day-to-day usage patterns. Personal experience is by far the best benchmark there is.
EDIT: bah, too late, has been said already.

I got a kick out of the benchmark results that came out with iPhone 5 vs GS3. IPhone was higher slightly and isheeps were doing circle jerks because of it. I've never seen a cross platform benchmark test and I tried saying how benchmarks do not mean a thing. I got down voted hard.

Its funny too because in a few months there will probably be an android phone that's even twice as powerful as the gs3. The isheep thinking they will always have the best are sadly mistaken.

Till now all JB roms are experimental, so I prefer a stable one, rather than fast.
You won't find a "very fast" JB rom 'cause we dont have the drivers neither the kernel for managing everything as the GB roms
I tried several and at least with the day-by-day use, epinters was the best, no lag but some games didn't run as fast as the GB rom

thanks to everyone for the responses, I´ll keep my Mrom for now and wait to see if Motorola releases the Drivers so we can have the hardware acceleration on JB.
