The Poll shows the most popular method of unlocking the bootloader.
Sony Website for me:
It's easy to relock the bootoader that way, and it's complete nonsense that they can tell that you unlocked the bootloader because you requested an unlock code.
Back when where Sony Ericsson, you were able to reqest the code before accepting the agreement. So technically you can reqeust the code and store it for feature use without any consequences for the warranty.
If you want to unlock the bootloader, I'd say: use the official method if it's possible. Relock is very easy.

At this point I only have a choice of either leaving bootloader locked or proceeding with the website unlock. Cannot unlock the phone using the unofficial method.
I think I'm going to go with the website unlock.
Would love to hear from someone who tried to repair their device after unlocking the device via sony website.

Cr*p I'.m on Sony website I already filled in my imei e-mail and name...but I'm afraid to press...send <lol>
Still don't know if I'm not making a mistake
Have you try with s1tool, or you just checked manufacture date?
And another question, is your phone sim-locked?

Actually I didn't I just checked the date and assumed that the device is too new to be unlocked using the unofficial method. It's a simlock free phone. So I guess it wouldn't be unwise to try the s1tool before unlocking via the website. I guess I need some "tools" to prepare this wire thingy.
Of course. Some factories start using new security earlier or later.
So try first. Good luck.
Website, since it doesn't void warranty unless I break it myself in which case tbh it would be a bit of a bs claim if I did try to claim warranty on it.
Also it's the official method, which though I know shouldn't be and probably isn't the case, to me seems safer.
Well I just unlocked via website hopefully i won't have to use the warranty.
I had unlocked boot with Omnius and free

I have a Rogers branded x10 that I'm currently using with Fido. I'm interested in updating to the newest firmware, but I want to ensure that I don't lose my SIM unlock in the process.
Can someone please confirm?
No it won't.
I presume that you have unlocked it by code.

sorry for my english

Hmmm......well I'm not too sure but I think you should ask him. But if you use flashtools to unlock it it should be fine according to me. But ask him or wait for someone who knows for sure.

there are two types of unlock.
1) sim unlocking to use different network carriers
2) bootloader unlocking - to use different custom kernel nd roms for unlocked bootloader
as for sim unlocking, once you do it, it will not relock whatever you do
if you are planning to unlock your bootloader be sure that you have SETOOL sim certificate or SEMC sim certificate as stated in this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19685019&postcount=7
Hi i am new to xperia world. i have tried to install this rom <http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1640390>

before i was on 4.0.3 ...562 firmware . it didn't boot forever so i used pc companian to repair software and i was successful to repair software. after then i received OTA UPDATE and i did accept the update now my phone is running on 4.0.4 ....431 firmware and i have rooted my handset too and not installed CWM RECOVERY
MY quest is after 4.0.4 can i still update this ROM on my phone <http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1640390>

i have just bought new phone don't want to loose warranty as early as possible may be later i may dare to unlock it
i love developers who makes world look better place.. i am frequent visitor of xda from my first windows mobile since 3-4years ..
but i had very bad experience with z71 android handset which gave me lot of pain but i made full use of warranty period because there was no unlocking ..! just flashing lots of custom roms ..
but xperia is different i think i have to gain more confidence to start flashing.. because there will be no warranty once unlocked...
When you feel confident, you can Unlock you device by any method you prefer, follow the guide by following link,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409269
P.S, using official method to unlock the boot loader, you will void your warranty, but using XDA method you will have option to relock the boot loader again
Hope, this will help

you're welcome,
that means you are qualify to unlock your boot loader,
its not Pre-Unlocked !
if it shows No, that means you cannot unlock boot loader due to Manufacturer restrictions.

my phone is already rooted can i oerclock by setcpu without unlocking or do sommething etc
I think, overclocking need other then stock Kernel, check Kernels thread, which suit your overclocking need.

thank you very match any help would be very appreciated
If you want to unlock bootloader, there are two ways of doing it.
One is the official way, the other is via "testpoint" method.
Take a look at my guide (signature). It's a good place to start.
I think unlock Sim Certificate is also a good point for unlock bootloader. (Anyone correct me if I'm wrong)

what method did you use to desimlock you're phone?
I used WotonServer
It cost 9.99€ and it gives 1 credit to remove simlock and 2 credits for updating phone.
Repair shops use this software so if you pay them to unlock your sim you are just paying them more money to do something you can do at home on your PC for cheaper.

You can always use the paid method, even if it says "Bootloader allowed: no". Plus, since it unlocks your bootloader by testpoint, you don't lose the DRM and you can use PCC.
It'll cost you around $24 (there was an special $10 offer for all xperia devices, don't know if it's still available though)
Hello!
My ray's bootloader is unlocked via testpoint method and now i want to re-lock it as i need to give it to service center for softkey repair.
Is it possible?
Thanks. :fingers-crossed:
first google before posting here man, if you unlocked bootloader via offical method there is a way to unlock it but if you unlocked it using testpoint method the bootloader unlock allowed says yes so technically according to sony your bootloader is locked so there is no method to relock it if you unlocked it with this method
Hope i helped

Sorry brother i searched a lot but just found a way to relock it if you unlocked it via official method, so i made a thread.
I will ask to delete it as soon as i get the answer.
So should i give it to service center just after flashing the stock rom & kernel?
You sure there is no way to re-lock..
I'm afraid as why the RESTORE button is there in s1tool?

is anyone working on unlocking this device. my network won't let me unlock it and i don't want to use a website to unlock. i need to unlock it to use a different sim card and unlock bootloader for cm11 and other rom.
For the sim card I believe you need the assistance of a 'website' (although I dont know if they actually work)
Or your network provider.
Who are you with?
As for the bootloader, head over to this website to unlock your bootloader with sony.
Note that it will probably void your warranty.
... Ok scratch that I cant post links

the bootloader allowed is set to no, so i presume i have to unlock the phone before it will allow me to unlock bootloader. how come no one is working on to unlock this phone?
Unlockinh the bootloader is unrelated to network unlocking the phone, as far as I know. But unlocking the bootloader will allow you to network unlock your phone by flashing a custom ROM i think, so I guess they kind of are related. I think you need to talk to your network provider first. That'll help. Otherwise
Try rooting it and go from there. If you can

we've got good devs here, i hope they are willing to help us
If a problem doesn't affect a dev, it is not his problem, devs also have their private life /job. Thats why a gratifocation might help (as amply as our pockets can afford it)
