[Q] Has anyone tried slim ics rom - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Hi everyone.
I am about to be a SGS3 owner, and was wondering if anyone tried to install slim ics rom. slimroms.com
It has the SGS3 I9300 on the supported devices, so its not sure that it works. This is one of the best roms out there, and I would use it in a heart beat.
Let me know if it works. Its going to be a long 2 week wait for my SGS3.

Don't use any Roms unless theyre for your carrier unless u want a nice paper weight GS3

S3 stock experience

Is there a ics rom that gives me the s3 experience. Basically a 4.0 stock rom that would come on the s3

no but there is a lot of addons out there you can slap on a sammy or AOSP rom.
there sure is.
you can buy an S3
OR
you could hang out in the dev and themes/apps areas and learn....maybe one will pop up
Maybe reading might be beneficial
What a magical idea

I agree with the "reading" concept. Read up on what values you are looking for.
It can help you decide what you want to decide on. )
You should check out Shishir's updated ICS rom. Nearly a carbon copy of stock S3 with working apps like s-voice and flipboard plus with his own add ons. Really nice rom if I do say so myself so that's your best bet

[Q] ParanoidAndroid ROM?

Since we have finally received CM9 for our devices, I was wondering if anyone is working on a port of ParanoidAndroid. I would really love to have that ROM on my phone and I'm sure that others would too.
Anybody?
That ROM looks sick doesn't it? I'd love to have it on my phone, hopefully someone can make that happen
It's an awesome rom

Roms on US S3

How possible is it or if ever possible will the Roms being created for the international S3, ever become compatible on the US S3, because there is a huge lack thereof ROMs, which I know it hasn't been forever since the phone has been out but if you look at the amount of ROMs and tweaks and mods, it seems as though its rather empty compared, plus I've seen some bad bad bada$$ roms so far for the internation version. Just wondering
Not likely, maybe someone will port one or something but as things are now intl roms will not work on a us phone.

Doubt if you will get a guy in India or China oe Europe even with a USA phone or even the inclination to build a rom .

Dang lost cause. It would have been really sweet. I can only imagine the work it would take to port something like that. Thanks fellas

Gingerbread ROM on Galaxy SIII

Howdy,
For testing purposes I want to load a pre-ICS ROM on my GalaxyS3. I need the flash built in that got dropped with ICS.
Has anyone tried this? If so, what are recommended ROMs?
If no one has done this, what ROMs are closest to what the S3 runs and would stand the greatest chance of working?
Thanks,
Joe
Presume this is a test to see how fast you can brick your SGS3 .
Adobe Flash player works on ICS .
jje
now this was a unique question. in the world of jb you are looking for gb
oh go on, do it, testing, testing

Like JJegan has already mentioned Adobe flash was dropped for JB not ICS
This is I think the 4th "can I put gingerbread on x" thread I have seen on xda, pretty sure its the second in the S3 forum and also there were two in the gnex forums if my memory serves me right.
As you can imagine they were met with complete and WARRANTED hostility.

If I'm not mistaken, that is an ACTUAL quote!
Damn, in that case snake from the Nokia 5110 will run smooth as a mofo on our S3!
Let's start a bounty!

to be equally fair, i'm in the same boat. i had a captivate for a while, loved the gb roms i flashed constantly to find my favourite. bought an s2 and absolutely love the phone. i hard bricked my previous s2, i dont think i had the right kernel, something i did was for a non canadian version of the s2. after i sold that one i bought another brand new s2. the s3 was around for a little while at this point but my girlfriend has a galaxy nexus and her sister an s3 and i just dont like the way ics and jb look, feel and operate. it felt like switching from windows to a mac after using windows for years. i would go to close a window and the 'x' was in the upper left and not right like windows.
its a personal opinion, i'm sure in many ways firmwares past gb are better in many quantifiable ways, but i just dont like em. not to mention the stupid physical home button like some loser iphone. i love the 4 backlit buttons that samsung uses on many devices like the blu ray player i have. it's just awesome.
anyway, long story short - is there any other demand worth warranting a dev to make a gb rom for phones past that version of android?
in closing, think of the amount of roms out there for the captivate which are based on froyo people still use. gb ics and even jb roms are available but many people still prefer the look and feel of froyo.
anyway, long story short - is there any other demand worth warranting a dev to make a gb rom for phones past that version of
Got a couple of thousand to spare might interest a dev otherwise not likely .
Try one of the developer forums where devs have a contact or question route .

thank you sir, i'll keep the search alive although i think i'm upstream in a fecal body of water without means of propulsion
why?!

[Q] I am thinking in buying an Atrix 4G, Should i do it?

In Amazon the Unlocked International Atrix 4g are cheap! and i am thinking buy one of those... but the international version can get the us rom? for a possible update of ics? and 220$ are my budget.... so i think is the best one at that range... if you want to Recommend another android phone in that range, i will highly appreciate it, Thanks, is my first Android Phone leaving Blackberry
Don't do that, its better to buy pantech burst its selling on ebay for around 100$ brand new and will have ics soon.
You should be able to get an Atrix for around 150$ US iirc. Excellent phone, but, there's no guarantee of a fully working ICS Rom.
BUT, you can get the lapdock for around 60$, and that makes the phone/dock combo awesome value.

If you want to get stuck to Gingerbread for eternity, buy it.
If you want newer version of Android, buy from another manufacturer. :good:

I have the xperia U which is 10x smoother than my atrix (which i sold for 333$ !!!!!) and ICS rollout started today for xpu !
I just bought it and love it. Would having ICS or Jelly Bean be desirable? Yes. But 98% of the apps I would want on my phone are available for gingerbread too. If you really want ICS or JB, you can always root it and flash a custom ROM. I tried to do that, it didn't work out well for me but seems to work well for plenty of others.
There are no fully functional ICS/JB ROMs.

No! NO NO NO NO NO!
I cannot stress enough: DO NOT BUY A MOTOROLA PHONE.
Samsungs have nice unlocked bootloaders, the GSII is quite nice...
The atrix has great hardware but unfortunately Motorola aren't great with software updates but we have great devs and a decent jelly bean ROM

I just flashed a Jelly Bean ROM and am pretty satisfied with it thus far.

Yup, got mine for 2 months and flashed a JB ROM. Satisfied so far.
no
that's my third motorola phone all has touch problems.
You should never buy any motorola product, they have the worst software team, the firmware lags a lot, and you will never get updates, they promisse but they do not deliver.
